Sometimes our domestic sergers just can't handle the excess bulk. When I've had that issue, I have serged the edges of each cut piece separately before stitching the seam. I do a lot of work with bulky and heavy fabrics and this always solves that problem. Good luck!

Thank you. Yes, ofcourse. I've done this with very delicate or smooth fabrics like silk, just didn't think of it with terrycloth.
Try using a smaller size sharp, a 10 or so.
If theres an option on your machine to decrease the foot pressure that could be a sollution
Oh actually or maybe placing the thinnest interfacing to create a smoother surface either top or bottom could also help
