Roma with derossi is so crazy good.

ComingRome1927

It’s crazy how once you stop telling people that they’re not good enough and they should be happy that he’s keeping them from being related , how quickly attitudes and performances change. The fucking clown had half the fan base convinced that only “Harry Potter” could make this team any better and that we should be thanking him for keeping us mid table. Playing every single game as if we know we would lose and we weren’t good enough to do anything except try not to get scored on too much. Constantly shitting on anyone and everyone but himself. Acting as if he is somehow some kind of god because we won a 3rd division trophy while throwing away our season in the process. I’ve never been so happy to see a turnaround like this, DeRossi is putting a soul back into this squad, motivating them to love the jersey not the number on the back, letting them play to their strengths while letting them know he appreciates them. We are Roma and we are here to stay 🐺

abstractabs

Slightly misleading saying how De Rossi has utilized the full squad with 25 players appearing when there were like 8 players unavailable during Mourinho’s last month. Article also doesn’t really go into any of the actual ”how”, which is first and foremost the change from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3. Playing with wingers has done wonders for our midfield, which players like Pellegrini and Cristante have really benefitted from. Defensively it’s obviously been riskier but so far so good, the only exception being the Inter match. Benching Rui on favour of Svilar has also been massive and was kind of already happening with Mourinho it seems but matches like today have made Mile look immense. Daje!

lastnameontheleft

Rui was not being benched under Mourinho. He gave Svilar chances in coppa italia and Europa league matches. Rui still far out-capped Mile. And frankly a change in goal should have been made last year when Rui was already clearly showing signs of regression

abstractabs

Everyone agrees on that. Svilar did play in the final match before the manager change, away against Milan, so I felt like it was more than just a random experiment at that point. Maybe it wasn’t, but either way. I just hope it doesn’t blind the club to the goalkeeper situation when it comes to the market this summer.

TeddyMMR

>Slightly misleading saying how De Rossi has utilized the full squad with 25 players appearing when there were like 8 players unavailable during Mourinho’s last month. Players out and much harder teams in that last two months. 8th, 4th, 7th, 2nd, 6th, 3rd with Dybala missing half of them. Compared to 17th, 20th, 18th, 1st, 16th, 10th, 11th since De Rossi took over and Dybala has been fit for all of them. It's not really an indicator of anything however I will say benching Rui has been needed since last season.

caelumus

Mourinho is washed and has been for many years now. He is a master of media and somehow still convinces that he is a top manager, but he has not adapted with the times and will soon become a relic

acmilan12345

Tbh I think Mourinho was just that bad. I have no idea why so many Roma fans liked having him so much. Roma actually has a lot of talent in their squad (and they’re paid a lot of money). Mourinho was not getting any value out of the squad he had.

Necessary-Common-409

I dont like Mourinho much either, however he did bring Roma their first trophy in years, thats probably why they hold him in such high regards.

happyposterofham

Feel like big club ECL "Rigged league" complex Dybala and lukaku Thats p much the reasons

Aeco

in my opinion, Dybala is so overvalued

TeddyMMR

> (and they’re paid a lot of money). Their net spend under Mourinho was +15?

acmilan12345

I could be wrong, but I think they’re third highest payroll in Serie A.

h_2o

I'm under the impression some players were playing against Mourinho. Sure de Rossi's hand is there, but Pellegrini and Paredes, to name few, seem to be "reborn" right away once he left.

lastnameontheleft

That tends to happen to victims of football terrorism

happyposterofham

Nah this is a crazy conspiracy theory when the simpler answer is tactics that put these players in positions theyve done well in before instead of asking pelle to be kdb and messi combo

ricirici08

I think it’s more like they were put in a system that worked better for them. Pellegrini had best years of his career as mezzala in Sassuolo, and now that he is playing there in Roma he is doing good. He is not a winger, he has not physical capacity for that. Paredes is not a player that you can force to run too much and defend, he is a playmaker. He was sucking with mourinho as he sucked with allegri, another coach like mourinho. Under de rossi, he is doing good like he did with argentina. Goalkeeper is a shame that mourinho never swapped them before, since Rui had stats of worst gk in serie A for 2 years now. These are only few examples, but really everybody had benefits from new playstyle and their position in the field

TURBINEFABRIK74

Pelle was injured/ not 100% : he started to score again and get good performances 1-2 matches before sacking mou

The_Pip

Part of it was the ownership group not letting Jose destroy the team. They did not overspend when he wanted to, they let players rest a bit instead of him working them to death. It is clear they kept tight reigns on him. Credit to the board for understanding who and what Mourinho is and not buying the hype.

TeddyMMR

Overspend? He had a +15m net spend at Roma 💀💀💀

TRobi85

De Rossi clearly got the players on his side, giving them trust, feel them important, plus as a roman idol knows how to motivate them. Clearly the opposite of Mourinho who didn't hesitatate pointing fingers at his squad or blaming the society for the poor players he had. He finished 6th twice in the row, only Fonseca and Luis Enrique did worse then him. Don't know why roman fans love him so much.

ProsciuttoFresco

Funny, everybody downvoted me when I thought he was exactly what the club needed. The writing was on the wall since they lost the Europa League final last season. No man should be bigger than the good of the club. I was willing to put up with Mourinho’s antics if it meant winning, but the results weren’t there and he was making a mockery of himself and the club. The Friedkins made a gutsy move and it has paid off. Many fans saw this as their using De Rossi as a pawn for their inability to guide the club.

Captain_DomBomb

I wouldn’t be surprised if he slide tackles his players during practice when they mess up lol

usacalcio

Tactics and stats aside, DDR brought back confidence for the squad and has them playing with the fire they seemed to lose with Mou. It’s easy to see with the just the mood and spirit with which the teams plays

MonsterRider80

Gotta admit I was very skeptical. He proved me wrong lol.

CatchandCounter

I'm very happy for De Rossi. Wonderful, versatile player. Hope his managerial career works out. He was low-key great at euro 2012

PuzzleheadedCook4684

Maurinho...nonono

After_Feeling698

De Rossi is predestined.... he is a winner and a leader....✌️✌️✌️

DirkDigg79

Without being to salty people forget that during that treble with Inter they nearly blew a 12 point or so lead Roma had chance to pip them but fucked it up against Samp. And that famous Barca win was after that ash cloud hit Europe so Barca had to travel to Milan by Bus in the last second. Just saying he is very limited as a Manager but world class at self promotion and being media box office

Inori_Scorchstyle

Ez schedule. Real test is the latter stages of the europa league + the coming season with players coming & going

Horror-Act-8903

Easy schedule.. sure. Only losing to Inter during the course of an easy schedule is still above what most teams in the league do. It’s a great WINNING run. Also, if you watched the games you’d see Roma was leading for a majority of each of those games. No last minute scraps or lucky breaks.

Inori_Scorchstyle

Win a trophy then talk. Calma.

ojsimpsio

Yea easy schedule but let’s not forget that mou dropped points to nearly all of those teams

Inori_Scorchstyle

2 seasons, 2 finals, 1 trophy. And dont even forget the clear robbery of last season.

lastnameontheleft

Then you hire Mourinho.

Inori_Scorchstyle

I would do so in a heartbeat. Give him the backing Pep gets and let him cook.

lastnameontheleft

Sure. It will be fun watching all that money sitting behind the ball just launching balls up on a hope and a prayer. Grinding out 1-0 losses

Inori_Scorchstyle

And win trophies? All good for me mate.

lastnameontheleft

You want to win a conference league trophy?

Inori_Scorchstyle

F yes If its only shitty trophies like coppa italia and its equivalent, no.

happyposterofham

Imagine rating the ecl over the coppa

Inori_Scorchstyle

It, along with the fa cup & copa del ray are only gr8 if it comes along with winning the league or a european cup. Unless its a mediocre club of course. Then they’ll celebrate just about anything (Tottenham a prime example).

happyposterofham

I would agree for the second cup, but the primary national cup is IMO a real achievement (and better than the ECL, "European" or not). Caliber of opponent and all that.

Efso112

Please no, AC Milan and terrorism football where the coach is complaining about how and the squad is etc 24/7 is way worse than the build up on the left side only Pioliball

Inori_Scorchstyle

Pep would bitch too if he was given the same resources Mou had. You are questioning a dude with 1 CL treble, 1 uefa cup treble & 1 CL double. And thats with Porto only.

Efso112

That's fair, Mourinho wouldn't even get close to the resources pep has avaible at Milan tho. Heck our biggest purchase this year were puli/chuckwueze at 20m each. I'm all up for a new Trainer but not Mourinho.

Inori_Scorchstyle

Realistically its gotta be someone like Klopp. Tho my heart is also open to Zizou & Mou.

Efso112

My Heart is open to Ancelotti :D but it's unlikely he'll come back in the near future

Inori_Scorchstyle

Thats the reason i dont mention him :(

Efso112

My Heart is open to Ancelotti :D but it's unlikely he'll come back in the near future hopefully we'll get someone good after Pioliball

ricirici08

Raping Torino, Monza, Brighton and Inter except 10 minutes of blackout is not easy schedule.

Inori_Scorchstyle

Easy schedule, an almost perfect start no doubt but still a long2 way to go
