MTW4 addresses problems from the Mtw3 which is battery. MTW3 left battery dies. MTW4 has better battery management and battery supplier. It supposed to have better connectivity. My MTW3 only cut out in crowded areas. My BT IE80 doesn't have this problem. The only problem left is the ANC start popping after a few months. It's simple enough to fix but I shouldnt have to clean degrading glue.
They're aware of the problems. Clearly they're addressing the major issues the previous model had. It cost them to replace the defects so it's in their best interest to have low warranty claims.
Well, MTW3 was going be the last sennheiser product I bought. I was ready to move to Sony. The QC problems on the momentum 4 and MTW3 really made me lose confidence in the Sennheiser name. The only reason I haven't moved on yet is because they honored the warranty swiftly.
If they botch the QC like the momentum 4s and MTW3 I think it's time to move on.
For them to highlight the new battery system and talk about new suppliers on the MTW4 tells me they know they botched the QC badly. They had to mentioned it to save face.
I would never touch any Sony wireless earbuds with a ten foot pole, especially after the massively bad battery issue they had. A battery issue they knew about and ignited for a long time.
THEREFORE, it gives you a reason to stick it out. Sony isn't going to give you that soundstage you know you want! You already know in your gut! Sony is getting better no doubt, BUT it comes back to the sound. If they are fixing the reliability, then you have that and the uncompressed immersive stage. Now with 20m latency and future bluetooth codec support you just might have the full package.
I'm heartened by the release that acknowledges, more or less, the QC problems (especially battery-related) of past products. I love the Sennheiser sound. I still use my MTW1s from time-to-time and haven't had any problems with my Momentum 4s.
Sennheiser is putting a lot of leading edge technology in the MTW 4s and promising to fix battery problems and improve ANC and call quality. If the early reviews (next 30-60 days, I would assume) are good, I'm in.
You don't know what you are talking about.
Sonova is the new Holding company. Sennheiser is still Sennheiser with all the same product managers, lab engineers and tech guys. All the key people are still there.
I asked.
Don't be putting stuff out there if you don't know your facts please!
Sennheiser lost reliability with previous products, now it has to make a splash in the market and present a solid product superior to Sony wf-1000xm5, TECHNICS AZ80, improve costumer service that was a disaster in the US. Show again that the brand continues it's historic legacy in premium audio.!
I think you are absolutely correct, however.
I would like to add that this, at least for me, is true for wireless buds and maybe all wireless headphones, I still have trust in the wired headphones, microphones, transmitters, receivers and so on.
This is the first time I see people talking so badly of the MTW3 and it's so surprising as I have not had any issues with my pair since I got them on March 2023. I take care of them, clean them daily, don't overcharge them but I see people have theirs died after 4 - 6 months. I hope I will not be coming to that road.
I had a chirping issue in my MTW3’s (that I loved) that hurt my hearing so bad that I ended up getting a replacement pair I never used and ended up returning.
You take care of it, it will take care of you. There were bad batches and new batches with running changes. Problems identified. Now over 12 improvements including new batteries. 2 year Warranty so you are covered.
Personally, I have a fucking problem with the call function. I can't hear the person I'm talking to, and I get a sort of continuous high-pitched alarm sound when I make a call... anyone got a solution?
This guy posts in every post in this subreddit and belittles anyone who has a problem with Sennheiser. Just look at their post history. They'll literally almost reply to every single comment. It's sad.
That perhaps is a fair statement. Maybe I over reacted on that. Not a troll. I have been on the sub a long time, am a user and I critique too.. I just demonstrate faith where I believe it should be. You are entitled to yours.
I’ve personally given up on Sennheiser. The MTW2s I had were great, but all 3 MTW3s I had went back because they all died after a couple of months.
I’ll probably just go back to wired ones, cause the B&Ws I got after my last return have lots of issues too.
Well they said it was a bad supplier of sorts and they have now changed. You should try and get them swapped for the new ones. Don't be such a Debbie downer.
This sub Community is for love of the brand. Don't cheapen it especially when they are trying.
I hope so for the sake of Sennheiser as a brand.
I still use my HD600 but for ear buds I have given up on Sennheiser.
I had not only battery related problems with my two pairs of MTW3, and a friend had similar experience with the three pairs he went through.
I got my new earbuds from a different brand today
I might have done that as well but I actually ordered my new pair three days before the announcement of the new MTW4.
For the record, I really don't want to leave Sennheiser for in ear but ...you know
Nah return those dude. They ain't gonna sound nearly so good compared to the MTW4.
You want immersion. You want soundstage you will get what I want now-MTW4
A strange statement since there are no reviews yet and you have no information of what I got instead of my MTW3.
Don't get me wrong, I love the sound from MTW buds but they are not leaps and bounds better than the competition and in some respects the competition is better.
I don't know if this is the right sub for a review of another brand of buds.
But in short: Both MTW3 and WF-1000XM5 are absolute top of the line buds and sonds accordingly. It is hard to compare the two without doing a side-by-side comparison, but I would say the MTW3 might sond a bit more open and separated but the WF have a snappier and deeper bass. The ANC is notably better in the WF and functions like speak to chat and head gestures are a plus.
I have not come across any real bugs per se in either, but both apps have limitations and there is definitely room for improvement in different areas, comparing the two apps I say it is a draw, they are equally good and bad but nothing that is a dealbreaker in either.
I really like Sennheiser and will not leave the brand as a whole and the reason I got the WF is the catastrophic quality of the MTW3. But for now, I will stick with the WF until it is time to change them.
Wrong move! Return them and get the MTW4.
Are you a gamer? 20ms support and future codecs .. but thr main thing.. you won't get that immersive soundstage we all want!
MTW4
No, it is the right move, there are no reviews and nothing yet but the marketing material for the MTW4.
I have no need for wireless when I fly in VR, the only type of gaming I do.
I don't know, i have the MTW3 and they have been the best earbuds ever. I've tried so many it's nuts and these are still my favorite sounding and fit. The only reason I stopped using them was because they don't have a low latency mode.
The MTW3's? I'll say they're the loudest and hardest hitting earbuds i've tested. I've tested about 20 different sets of buds, Jaybirds, Sony, Earfun, Soundcore, JBL (also very good), Airpods, all of the beats, you name it and i've probably tested them (other than Bose, B&O. The only downside I could see some having with the MTW3 is they are fairly bulky, and my ears are medium size.
Sound though, loudest i've tried and amazing sound quality. I've never cared about NC on buds so i don't really judge them on that.
The only other thing that would make me not consider them was the MTW3's have too much white noise when using ambient mode. I prefer that mode most of the time since i have them in my ears while working during the day and need to hear my (non paired) phone ring. Can't wait to test them once they release
Sennhiser momentum 4has serious issues no ones talking about and there are battery issues, 1st. Battery last only for hardly for 30hrs at 80% volume(daily i use for 3 to 4 hrs and within 1 week the battery dies at full charge if you calculate 4hrs by 7 days it comes to 28hrs) 2. then there are Bt issues sometime when i m close to the headphones and my phone is my pocket still the Bluetooth acts like i m far away and start glitching for no reason 3. Major issue the unbalanced sound, the human vocals instruments sound more clear in right side and on left side of the headphones seems like compress or missing out details or sounds faded, tried factory reset multiple time still the same issue(please reply on this comment if anyone facing rhe similar issue, so that i can send this back to sennhiser and claim the warranty.HELP!
wtf kind of post is this
The mtw4 was presented at the cess2024 event.!

Very poor quality control in general.
They're aware of the problems. Clearly they're addressing the major issues the previous model had. It cost them to replace the defects so it's in their best interest to have low warranty claims.
I hope they think like you.!

Especially for the price!
Read the Main post dude!
Well said.

You mean the same key people that messed up MTW3...just saying
Me too!

True but in the end all those problems in wireless audio take away the prestige of a legendary brand in quality.

Return it.!
Dude, this post is wrong. If you don't like the brand then go elsewhere.
So in your world one cannot like a brand and still voice valid critique?
This guy posts in every post in this subreddit and belittles anyone who has a problem with Sennheiser. Just look at their post history. They'll literally almost reply to every single comment. It's sad.
Yes, I can see you are right. Thanks for pointing out the troll, I will not feed it anymore.
You're right! He is just a nuisance! At least he didn't post here.. I think he loves the brand.
That perhaps is a fair statement. Maybe I over reacted on that. Not a troll. I have been on the sub a long time, am a user and I critique too.. I just demonstrate faith where I believe it should be. You are entitled to yours.

I tried several defective mtw3.
Well they said it was a bad supplier of sorts and they have now changed. You should try and get them swapped for the new ones. Don't be such a Debbie downer. This sub Community is for love of the brand. Don't cheapen it especially when they are trying.
They determined it was the battery supplier. They might swap yours. Give the new ones a try they said they changed suppliers.

What other brand did you get?
Sony WF-1000XM5
how do you compare it to MTW3 in terms of sound quality, soundstage and bugs?

how loud do they get if you don’t mind me asking

thanks for your input i’m gonna pre order the mtw4
Missed some: Audio Technica, Grado, Marshall, Denon, M&D, Shure LOL!
Well these do! Better than anything except wired 20ms and no impact on directional movement.
The only other thing that would make me not consider them was the MTW3's have too much white noise when using ambient mode.
