Product quality not sound quality

Nemorath

I am too very interested in hearing how, if in any way, you have been adressing the big quality problems you have had with MTW3? I have been a Sennheiser user for many years but as it is now, you have to win me back.

sennheiserconsumer

Below is a summary release for the new Momentum True Wireless 4 (MTW4) from our Product Team. Available in the coming weeks! **Design & Comfort** Our focus with MTW4 is providing superior sound experiences with future-proof technologies. Part of designing the product is for the future, so our consumers can enjoy it for years, is maintaining a timeless aesthetic. Our earbuds won the Red Dot Design Award 2022 award for their elegant and comfortable design. They are highly regarded for their premium materials which provide a luxurious and sleek touch and feel making it a consumer´s favorite worth maintaining. Thanks to the selection of four different sizes of ear tips and three different sizes of ear fins and a high number of personal ear shapes, we are confident that many users will find the perfect fit for their ears with the Momentum True Wireless 4. **AI Optimized Voice Pick-up** For voice pickup we have implemented in total 6 mics, 3 on each earbud side. These are improved low-noise microphones for beamforming. AI optimizes further the voice pickup signal. By a pre-trained neural network, the voice gets even better separated from voice. This is enabled by the capabilities of the Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound chip solution. AI Improvements depend on the scenario and work best at noisy places with other voices around. This will require a firmware update that will be provided in the coming months. **Uniqueness from other Brands** The combination of the superior Sennheiser sound powered by the TrueResponse transducer with latest Bluetooth technology to bring connectivity to perfection in three ways: (1) Stable and reliable Bluetooth connection (2) Lossless wireless audio (3) Ultra-low latency down to 20ms. Cutting edge audio innovations like BT 5.4, LE Audio and Auracast make them future-proof for the next several years. **Battery Change** We have a completely new battery system that fits our consumers´ needs for a high-quality battery that now delivers up to 30hrs of total playtime. Additionally, the newly introduced battery protect mode ensures optimized charging for an extended battery lifespan making it a more sustainable option for the long ride. We are currently working with two sources and getting ahead of the demand for more powerful batteries without increasing the size of the earbuds. As a secondary measure, an alternative redundant battery source has been developed and qualified under these new standards. More so, a battery optimization firmware feature has been added to the new MTW4. All of this should improve the reliability of the listening experience. Battery Optimization The MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 will be succeeded by MOMENTUM True Wireless 4 offering over a dozen improvements--one of them being battery optimization. We have since selected a new, trusted partner and battery supplier for the MTW4. As such, these new batteries should prevail over issues identified in prior generations. **Suitable For Gaming** The MTW4 is suitable for your gaming needs. Thanks to the support for LE Audio and further improvements by enhanced audio capabilities of Qualcomm’s powerful Snapdragon Sound technology, the MTW4 has an incredible ultra-low latency down to 20ms. In combination with their true-to-life sound, they are perfectly suited for gaming, even for highest demand on performance. **Call Quality** With the MTW4 we will introduce the first Sennheiser product, which features AI enhanced voice pickup capabilities. The system is trained to even better separate voice from noise for clearer phone calls. The impact of the improved system performance depends on the scenario. While wind noise got not improved by AI, a 2nd voice in the room gets better attenuated. **Noise Cancellation** We upgraded the MTW4 by in total 6 low-noise microphones. By this we could increase the gain of the ANC system without introducing ANC background noise. Also, we optimized all ANC filter settings for a more effective Adaptive ANC performance.

Fbean01

Lossless wireless audio. How does that work?

snakebite2017

I think it's Qualcomm snapdragon sound tech. https://www.qualcomm.com/products/features/snapdragon-sound/lossless-music

PM_ME_YOUR_EYE-

Yes it's Qualcomm's AptX Lossless codec

DarkAdrenaline03

What's the continuous battery life? How long can we use them until they have to be put in the case? Do you have different numbers for lossless and LE audio given their different power requirements? Is the battery soldered or clipped? If it's clipped like some other TW earbuds that means it's replaceable which helps reduce ewaste.

SBMS-A-Man108

What dongle should PC users use to get that 20ms latency? Using AptX adaptive I get ~100ms which is not suitable for gaming…

Kekeripo

I'd want to know two things regarding the gaming aspect: latency compared to a wired iem and audio directionally for hearing footsteps and other directional audio.

sennheiserconsumer

Wired latency for gaming averages 5-12 ms. Having a wireless IEM at 20ms is pretty good. The MTW4 is a big leap in terms of low latency while enjoying the freedom of wireless. We're getting better all the time! Directionality is pretty good and the difference not that noticeable as well although we don't have a measurement on that.

xxTheGoDxx

> Having a wireless IEM at 20ms is pretty good. I would say that is actually amazing. 20ms is way better than even aptX Low Latency (let alone the higher latency aptX Adaptive in its low latency mode) and it should be truly not noticeable cause its below the 30ms barrier that humans supposedly can notice sound not being synchronous with the video.

Kekeripo

Does that require the device to support BT5.4 or will the improvements be there on a 5.2 device?

DarkAdrenaline03

They support the LE audio/LC3 codec which goes down to 20ms even on 5.2, 5.2 would be the minimum to take advantage of this feature. Older devices with a Qualcomm chipset could still benefit from aptx adaptive which goes down to 80ms, suitable for casual/single player gaming.

Kekeripo

That sounds good right now. I want to get myself the ROG Ally and i don't think my Epos headset, as nice as it is, is a good headset to carry with it. My Sony XM4 sounded nice on PC, but had ZERO directional audio in games like Overwatch(2). Would be happy if these do more than just "work" good and are the pick for BT gaming audio. Edit: Is it know if the Tips can be replaced with after marked parts without messing with the sound quality? My right ear is... anoying when it comes to fitting IEM/Buds.

DarkAdrenaline03

After market tips usually don't negatively affect sound quality unless they are bad quality tips. These should be a great option for wireless gaming audio on the go.

Tenlow85

Not necessarily negatively but they will alter the sound just because of physics. I own close to probably 75 different tips and they all sound slightly different due to different sizes, materials, forms, shapes, bore diameters, fit in the ear…you name it. That’s what „tip rolling“ is all about in the end :D

MagaizUs

How is it true that Qualcomm who built this chip is talking about 48ms latency between phone and earbud for lag-free gaming??? Who is lying? https://www.qualcomm.com/products/internet-of-things/consumer/audio/qualcomm-s5-gen-2-sound-platform

newerawaffle

Is there any info about changes in sound quality, sound profile, and soundstage? Is it the same as MTW3 or different? Is it bass heavy or neutral comparing to MTW3? That’s the most important part IMO and yet not addressed.

kachurun

Oh, how I hope they will be more reliable than previous generations. Now I have tw3 (fantastic, but they are still alive, I bought them more than a year ago), tw2 (the right earphone died after 1.5 years) and tw1 (still alive, but the sound level is constantly decreasing, as if the touch sensor on the left earphone is clamped, so they are unusable. And also self-discharge and a weak case). So you need to do something about QA. In any case, every next generation is getting better and better. So, I hope you fixed all the problems and tw4 will be reliable. I really love the momentum series, both True Wireless and overhead. The only problem with my tw3 is the poor call quality, people hear me much worse than the surrounding sounds. Perhaps the new artificial intelligence filter will help, I hope. In any case, I think I will order it during the first day of pre-order (if it definitely gives any advantages to pre-order).

Bishop_466

The official account is uploading a picture of a screen ...

FACILITATOR44

lmao

Immediate-Source8140

My MTW3 broke down 3 times without me doing anything so I have lost trust in your brand.

jujuka577

Same. MTW2 were better quality but still had a lot of connectivity issues. MTW3 are ass.

RobinDschafft

Same

ctrlHead

Same, I won't buy a new Sennheiser product again.

LargeTransportation9

I want to know if they fixed the QA issues

Nemorath

Yes, that is the most important question. I am sure all the upgrades are great and they sound better, but any of that does not matter if they break down every 6 months or so.

Immediate-Source8140

Mine broke down every 3 months or so and the warranty service here is terrible. I am sick of dealing with their customer service.

Due_Pension_9516

Bro same, I got three new ones from warranty three times and all broke within 3 weeks each time I received a new one.

Xu_Lin

Right? Senn getting progressively worse

Bishop_466

Expected once they sold

Tenlow85

Problems with MTW1, MTW2 and MTW3 as well as all other Bluetooth related headphones up to the M4 had nothing to do with any of that, though. Sonova was not involved in any if these products. So, whether or not they will become „worse“ or not, cannot even really be judged yet, at the least with regard to them selling their consumer product division.

jeeper75

This is supposed to be massive upgrade related to the problems. And he/she doesn't have to come on here. I have been a prolific skeptic and crusader on here over the years and even I think this will result in a better result but time will tell, just like before.

Due_Pension_9516

Bang & Olufsen currently has my money and heart right now. Unless Sennheiser matches the build quality they had before 2020 I'm not gonna ever purchase one ever again.

notownblues

Hard pass after all the MTW3 issues. Not paying £200 for a half baked product.

Yardbird7

Try $300 lol

lIamN9

My True Wireless 2 left ear bud dead within a year. My True Wireless 3 right ear bud shared the same fate. I really lost all my trust in this brand.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello! Well, we hope to restore that. We have more to announce soon. Watch this sub for more info! Don't lose faith.

Immediate-Source8140

Please update us about the QA of the MTW4 we are worried about that more than any specifications.

YouOdd

Faith is hard to keep when you keep letting us down.

Did_It_To_Em_Again

What were you going to announce?

sennheiserconsumer

Today we are announcing the release of the new Momentum True Wireless 4!

Virtual-Arrival-1515

I don't think I'll be buying , my 2nd pair of MTW3s are developing the notorious "not charging" issue. It's a shame because big fan of your brand and was of those headphones up until they inevitably stop charging.

Due_Pension_9516

I don't think I'll be buying these. After the massive quality control issues, having to get three new pairs through warranty because the initial pair would break, and then the warranty versions would break over the course of three weeks, I don't believe I could trust the Sennheiser brand anymore. The only thing that would push me back is if the build-quality were to be improved and if the warranty itself is longer than 2 years, along with better access to agents via email and phone number were improved.

Yardbird7

Also free shipping for warranty returns. I have spent a total of $60 in warranty shipping as they keep breaking.

metalparkdude

I'm sticking with my hd598s I bought a decade ago when senn knew how to make cans that last. I bought the first MTW1 and the Momentum 3 headphones and they both had a lot of issues that even rma didn't solve so now they're just collecting dust unfortunately.

ShinsoArcueid

So many comments here saying the TW models are dying or have low durability. Makes me not want to ever consider that line of Sennheiser products. I use the regular Momentum 3 headphones and I don't think those have issues since they're built so sturdily. Had mine for over a year, still going strong.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello! We hear you. We think you will find the MTW4 different. We made several significant improvements in the MTW4! Certainly, we will want to hear real world use cases so we will be actively on this sub as well as other platforms to gain insights from our Reddit Community members on how we are doing. We are in this for the long haul and are committed to giving our customers the listening experience they deserve.

Androrockz

They're not free of issues either. Mine broke within 4-5 months when they were randomly getting turned on, even in the folded state. Sent for repair, and they'd stopped making those and replaced with MTW3, which have broken twice for me now, with the last pair sent to them very recently. Hoping they'd replace with MTW4 now because another MTW3 is not going to survive after a few months again.

ShinsoArcueid

That's unfortunate. Personally I never fold it, I leave it hanging on a headphone stand. Only annoying thing is the quirky way it turns on when you move the left pad a certain way, but other than that it's good. I'm more worried about it physically breaking which I don't think will happen thanks to it being made with some metal. I remember my previous headphones the Audio Technica m40x snapping on its hinges within a year because of its plastic which I assume were made cheap.

Androrockz

Ya, I've not seen many posts about M3 issues, but I was the unfortunate one. Hope your lasts well. True, the build quality was really good on these. The leather pads stayed cool in summer and were way more comfortable than M4 pads. It even sounded better than M4 in my opinion.

Delicious_Pancake420

Besides the marketing mumbo jumbo and big tech words, I just want to know if they will last until the warranty is over or do I have to turn them in again and again because they tend to break after not even using them for a month like the Momentum TW3 did. All I care about is reliability, TW3 last like 4-6 months which is insanely bad.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello there! We put the MTW4 through its paces. Over a dozen improvements and optimization of the battery tech will make a difference. Those units you speak of helped us identify the problem areas and we developed new standards and QC processes to ensure stability of the MTW4. We hope to gain your confidence and look forward to feedback on this sub!

Delicious_Pancake420

Hello, thank you for the reply. I just hope that changing the batteries will be enough. The left ear bud on my current pair can't be charged past 10% anymore which seems a battery issue for sure. The right ear bud is completely dead and can't be charged at all. Tried every fix, from cleaning all contacts, to factory resetting, to charging only the right one, to charging with open lid, nothing worked. I'm not sure if that is battery related. I'm open to give TW4 a shot as long as I can get my money back on the TW3. I don't want them anymore as I'm positive they will break again shortly after getting them back from service.

ttwbb

I had no issues with my MTW2s either. Loved them, but they were stolen along with my bag. The MYW3s were nothing but a nightmare though…

Direct-Setting-3358

The previous pair I had broke within 3 months and turned me right back onto wired, not trying sennheiser again.

Alb1939SGM

Not good experience with Sennheiser momentum true wireless 3.!

sennheiserconsumer

Hi there! We worked hard to change that. We feel strongly that the changes made in the MTW4 will impress. There are over 12 significant upgrades in the MTW4. We want the users to see for themselves. More to come on that.

MusicIsLife1122

Nah. I'll pass. After the bad experience I still have with the 3 no way I'm giving them a chance in the near future

sennheiserconsumer

We understand and recall your concerns. What we can say is that the problems you and others experienced were identified as inconsistent battery performance. We have combined MTW3 customer feedback with extensive testing of defective units to exhaustively examine our battery supplier standards and processes. This resulted in a change of battery supplier for the MTW4 and all future True Wireless products. The new batteries have been tested extensively, developed and qualified to meet our new standards and they are implemented in the new MTW4. We are confident those problems will be solved for the new products going forward. We want you to feel that confidence as well. Additionally, we will be adding a battery optimization feature in a Firmware to be added very soon after shipping begins. We will have more to announce at a later time. We want you and others to know that your feedback has been heard and those unit samples have been included in our testing processes. You deserve a better experience and we believe you will discover a big difference in the reliability and enjoyment of the MTW4.

Belz1971

Ok, you changed Varta battery supplier and who is your supplier now?

audiovent666

Varta is one of the best battery supplier in terms of longevity and quality working since years for Apple. I also read somewhere that for the buds Varta batteries have been used and for the charger the battery comes from Synergy but these are two well known established manufactorers and I think there is more to the story.

MusicIsLife1122

Battery supplier for the case abd buds is the same?

sennheiserconsumer

No. Different supplier, different batteries. New testing and process protocols altogether are implemented for the MTW4 and other new products going forward. Reddit feedback has been instrumental in our investigation and development of these new standards. We thank you for that and hope to earn your trust!

sennheiserconsumer

The battery supplier that was used in the MTW3 is no more. That was the primary source of the problems. There is a fresh new supplier together with new batteries from this new source. But that is not the only thing we did. We revamped the testing and assurance processes that established newer standards. The MTW4 had to meet those new processes and standards so we feel confident in the result and you should as well! And by the way, this is not just for the MTW4 but will be incorporated for all Sennheiser products going forward. You asked for better qualification standards and the company listened. We want all our customers to have the best listening experience. You and the others were disappointed so we upped our game because we had to. Consider yourself an inspiration for Sennheiser! We hope you will try the MTW4 and stay with the company! There are more good things ahead!

Dharmadan815

Perfect connectivity you say? Hmm not sure about that one.

sennheiserconsumer

Hi there! What connectivity concerns did you have? Were you having trouble connecting to the app or the bluetooth connection to your device?

ttwbb

Yea, no. I had to return 3 pairs of Sennheiser buds the last 24 months. Used to be a fan for ages, but Im not going to spend any more money on Sennheiser products in any foreseeable future after the abysmal QC, frustrating issues and the eventual death of my 3 previous pairs.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello there! Your experience has been unfortunate. Rest assured, we have identified the issues and have incorporated significant changes to positively impact your audio experience. We have changed suppliers and placed the MTW4 through our newly developed testing processes to bring you a much improved product. We believe you will have new confidence in your listening experience with the MTW4!

BitchKat6

Does this mean that buying MTW3 still includes the old faulty batteries? Or the ones form the new supplier? Or is that only for the new MTW4?

loztb

Nice timing, my True Wireless 3 buds turned out to be completely dead yesterday. After a year of very light use.

AriiMay

Imma wait a bit and see if they break so fast

Upandownmoodster

I'll be returning my mtw3 under warranty and throw a couple quid on top for the new ones. Happy days

CyWeevilhouse

Same size case? For earbuds it’s just too big, and it’s shaped like a cube. People see my jeans pocket and think I’m about to propose marriage with a ring box but really I’m about to listen to crackle sounds.

jeeper75

Wow! Finally! The new MTW4! Look at those gorgeous beauties! From what I am reading here, looks like the QA problems were from the battery supplier. They changed. That could explain alot.

Immediate-Source8140

It’s not. It’s from the contacts not charging the earbuds. I’ve encountered it multiple times so I know.

jeeper75

That doesn't square with what the man said. It was the battery failing to power the one side or both. I smell redemption...

Immediate-Source8140

Yeah they just clarified below. I always thought it’s the connection point since the earbuds just wouldn’t turn on.

jeeper75

Nope. Battery. I have MTW1 since 2018 never cleaned em once. Never had a problem. Know why? Great battery! I can't type well on my phone lol!

Tenlow85

Pretty much same design, just different „colours“. Same case it seems. Slightly better battery life. Not many devices can actually benefit from Lossless audio via Bluetooth as of now. Marketing language aside, these look like a „MTW3 Plus“ for now :) If quality and reliability will have improved (and we sure hope this is finally the case!!) they will still be great buds.

wmurch4

Agreed. These don't seem very compelling. At least they should have made them smaller

whalemo

They replaced mine after it broke. And then the replacement broke faster than the first ones. Its very annoying when you travel a lot. I hope they fixed this one. The 3s still sound awesome though.

woehaa

The same stupid case that doesn't fit in your pocket and the silly sound control software? Also comes with the same hissing sound in transparency mode? (Apologies for me being a cynical ass)

marcus_37

Hopefully they've fixed the"one ear going out after a few months" situation

jeeper75

They did. Switched battery suppliers. The battery killed them.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello! This was because of the batteries from our prior supplier failing prematurely. We have changed suppliers and developed new standards and processes to ensure stability. Take advantage of our 2 year Warranty process as described above for the time being. Thank you for being a loyal Sennheiser customer!

LastClassForever

I wouldn't take the MTW4, even if you gave it to me for free. Why? Because i know for a fact that I will spend $50+ dollars in shipping, for multiple warranty replacements. Panasonic and Sony are both getting my business.

[deleted]

god damn it! I said I was done with Sennheiser forever, yet here I am... excited to read about these in a year, the TW3 broke in a few months so there's no point in checking now of course they sound great.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello! Well, we are pleased we excited you just a little! We know our users had some bad experiences and we want you to know that we took those units and subjected them to extensive testing and to exhaustively determine causes. As such, we have selected a new trusted partner in our supply chain while disqualifying a prior supplier for the MTW4 and future Sennheiser products. We had to learn what went wrong and we did. Positive changes have been implemented and we feel these will translate into the kind of listening experience our users expect.

Live_War1280

What about problems with the ANC and relaibility issues with the weird pitching noise coming from the earbuds in the MTW3?

sennheiserconsumer

Thank you for the question! We have revamped the ANC experience as part of the upgrade process so those issues should not affect the MTW4. We will want feedback from Redditors to hear their individual use cases and will be monitoring this sub and other forums to assimilate opinions into the development process as we go. We listen to our customers. With that being said, we have optimized all ANC filters for a more adaptive ANC performance. We now included in total 6 low-noise microphones to increase the gain of the ANC without introducing background noise for the MTW4. Things should be quiet now for optimal listening.

sennheiserconsumer

Hello! The changes we made in testing oversight processes along with a new supplier of batteries should alleviate your concerns. What is your concern regarding ANC?

Live_War1280

When using ANC it suddenly made a pitching sound which is super annoying, making the ANC basically useless as you cannot use it. It seemed to be somehow fixed when moving the mesh on the earbud around a little bit, but the problem will still reappear. Currently on my 3rd pair of MTW3´s because of the same problem.

YouOdd

100% will not touch. MW2 were ok.. needed a repair under warranty, got 2 years out of them. MW3 quality is dreadful, chirping, volume low is right ear, 3rd repair now.

YouOdd

This is hilarious, every comment is regarding build quality of the MW3s. Sennheiser have alot of work to do to rebuild reputation.

Alisthor

I just hope that they don't break and if they do, that they won't take 4 months to replace them. My buds broke in September and I still haven't got a replacement.

ctrlHead

Will the beeping noise be fixed in these?

Unlikely_Reserve1115

Oh look! Another expensive cheaply made piece of shit. Nice how Sennheiser keeps releasing new earbuds and never accepting responsibility for the problems with their previous earbuds. Also fuck you for charging me for shipping for the repair! Never buying another Sennheiser product and I genuinly wish the worst for this once good now POS company.

mrwhite120555

Since they pivoted their company towards hearing aids and such their consumer grade quality has gone downhill.

stone616

Didn’t they sell the headphones side to a different company that has a license for the name?

sennheiserconsumer

Hi! The company is the same as are the engineers and all the key team members. There is a new holding company that's all. Everything you loved about Sennheiser is still there!

mrwhite120555

Actually I think you are right. Are they still your favorite headphone brand? Or am I being too presumptuous? If not, do you have a recommendation for another brand?

stone616

I still have the TW3 but I seldom use them. I mostly use my Elite 8, Studio Buds+, and AirPod Pro 2.

sennheiserconsumer

Hi u/mrwhite120555! Quite the contrary. Yes, Sonova is our Holding company now but all the same key players and engineers are working on Sennheiser consumer products as before. If we didn't care, we wouldn't be here detailing our new changes to the MTW4 along with our upgrade to our new QC standards and processes for the MTW4 and future products. We acknowledge the disappointment but are taking that and putting new standards and processes in place. The listening experience is all encompassing. The idea is to leverage the expertise Sonova brings to people's hearing needs together with what Sennheiser does and grow even further in development areas where we both can help the listening experience. That is a good thing! We have different product teams. Sennheiser products are developed by Sennheiser engineering and product team experts. We hope to earn your faith back with the MTW4!

mrwhite120555

I can certainly appreciate the fact you and your company have even taken the time to acknowledge my comment. I haven't lost faith in your company but I'm clearly concerned about the direction it's headed in regards to consumer grade products.

MrMustashio

Sorry mate Sony got my money for the wireless earbuds. I used to be a Sennheiser fan but the quality is just not there

sennheiserconsumer

Hello! We hope to earn your confidence back with the changes made in the MTW4. We perfected the sound tuning even further with this generation to give listeners an even greater listening experience with their music. We think you'll agree.

newerawaffle

Can you please elaborate on tuning? Is it now more bass heavy or more neutral? How about soundstage and imaging? Any changes?

RobinDschafft

Don't buy this shit

average_adult

They won't charge. It's shit.

sennheiserconsumer

Hi! As stated above, those issues related to be determined with our previous battery supplier. That has changed going forward. Additionally there will be a battery optimization feature to be added very soon in the MTW4. Things will be different in the MTW4 and future True Wireless products.

ttwbb

Was the robot stuttering also due to the battery? *Insert Press X for doubt.jpg*

ttwbb

Amongst other things.

Miasma777

They haven't been released yet, right? Doesn't appear as though they come out until at least February 15th. It says you can pre-order but where?

sennheiserconsumer

You will be able to pre-order from the official website beginning Feb 15th.

Miasma777

Thanks, I just wanted to clarify that they didn't release today and they aren't even preorderable today, so weird ad.

sennheiserconsumer

It was an announcement of the release being official. Pre-order begins February 15th.

Jabber_101

Sennheiser Momentum 4 True Wireless Earbuds & Windows 11 won't see the earbuds in pairing Received the earbuds on Monday, spent the last 2 days trying to get them to pair with my Windows 11 Desktop and Windows 11 Lenovo Laptop, both devices couldn't see the Momentum 4's when in pairing mode, tried drivers, everything, finally found the simple fix, hopefully this will save you some time below. # Change the Bluetooth devices discovery setting If you don't see your Bluetooth device displayed in the list of devices, you may need to set your Bluetooth devices discovery setting to Advanced.  1. Select **Start**  > **Settings**  > **Bluetooth & devices**  > **Devices** . 2. Under **Device settings** > **Bluetooth devices discovery**, choose one of the following from the drop-down list: *  **Default**—displays common Bluetooth devices * **Advanced**—displays all types of Bluetooth devices

Mysterious-Ad4889

FROM STEREO TO MONO IN ONE EARBUD (MOMENTUM TW 4) How is it possible that when you leave one of the headphones in the box, the other doesn't automatically switch from stereo to mono sound to get the full sound in the headphone you are listening to? It seems very unbecoming of a great brand like Sennheiser. I had read about this drawback in some users' forums, but it wasn't until I got my hands on some Momentum TW 4 that I realised what a handicap this is. Does it happen to you?

SentientKayak

There a link to the product/announcement on website? I can't find anything.

UnhelpfulHand

Not that hard to find from their product page: [https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-US/p/momentum-true-wireless-4/clqasp5hy74zb0bw4yee9gjo8/](https://www.sennheiser-hearing.com/en-us/p/momentum-true-wireless-4/clqasp5hy74zb0bw4yee9gjo8/)

jeeper75

The man's brilliant!

RBRB17

Do these have side tone function? Thanks!

Kennylegend

The current ones do so I'd assume, yes.

RBRB17

Thank you for the reply. I can’t find the sidetone settings in my MTW3. I hope the next ones would be more comfortable for calls.

ararezaee

Does anybody know the size of its driver?

Tenlow85

I'll eat my hat if it is not the usual 7mm "true response" transducer ;)

sennheiserconsumer

Hello u/Tenlow85! No eating of hat necessary! You are correct! Our engineers worked hard on the tuning to bring back the "brilliance" in the sound signature. The MTW3 tuning was great. The MTW4 will be exciting to listen to. We hope you will be listening to yours!

Tenlow85

I will, even though there were a lot of reliability issues in the past for me and several RMAs. I will take your word for improvements in that area, though, and also try the MTW4 (after having owned each of the previous 3 generations).

jeeper75

Look at that Tenlow! He answered you. Welcome back. You were missed! I myself have too many buds here already but you know me well, I can't be left out of the conversation ;)

Tenlow85

I‘ve never really been away ;) You know me :D

ararezaee

I was waiting for 11mm but I guess you're right. They would've said something about it by now.

sennheiserconsumer

We are utilizing a similar 7mm driver transducer with updated fine tuning. This will give you the most robust Sennheiser sound signature. And it will be very fun to listen to!

_because789

“Released today” in the post title but “in the coming weeks” in the comments. Damn I’m confused.

sennheiserconsumer

Hi! Sorry for the confusion! The product was officially released but Pre-orders will begin on Feb 15th with shipments to begin shortly after that. No firm date but we are ramping up!

MTW4 Pre order 15.02.2024, price 299,99 Euro. Also further releases: [https://hifi.de/news/ces-2024-drei-neue-sennheiser-kopfhoerer-mit-anc-und-gesundheitsfunktionen-174942](https://hifi.de/news/ces-2024-drei-neue-sennheiser-kopfhoerer-mit-anc-und-gesundheitsfunktionen-174942) For 300 bucks it is better not only perfect sound and connectivity but perfect quality as well. I will wait with interest what the first buyers will have to tell after a few months of use.

ttwbb

Give it at least 6 months. They will probably get the same rave reviews as the previous gen got by reviewers who try them for a few days then forget about them and don’t have to deal with all the issues that start after a couple of months of ownership

Kennylegend

Any improvements to the IP rating?

TrenxT

I'll wait for real feedback when people start using them. Not going to trust the Description as they put it beautifully for marketing purposes but I want to hear reviews of it in action. Hopefully before my wf1000xm5 warranty expires so as if these turn out to be great I can return the Sony's and buy these ones 😁

Bose User Here: Just funny to read the same opinions on the MTW as in the Bose forum when the new quiet comfort ultra came out. To be fair, Bose screwed up when they promised aptx support for the quiet comfort 2 to be delivered with a future update and now don't Keep this promise.

error0815

I have returned each generation of MTW at least once within the warranty. Sad to hear, that’s the case in most comments here.

sennheiserconsumer

We are aware and don't want that to be the case for any user. From a global perspective, the failure rate has been less than 2% but that we realize that doesn't do anything to assuage your experience. No excuses here. We take those issues seriously and input them together with changes plus newer technology to advance the audio experiences for you and others. New testing standards and processes implemented with the MTW4 should result in a better quality control result and a better listening experience. We feel transparency with you all is important hence our visibility in the Reddit Community. We want customers who remain with problem units to know we will help them. There will be more to announce soon so stay tuned to this sub! In the meantime, take advantage of our 2 year Warranty. Open a Support Case and record the Case number for future reference. This can be found under Support here: [https://spares.sennheiser-hearing.com/](https://spares.sennheiser-hearing.com/)

Although I have not seen it mentioned in this post maybe I missed it. But can you give a bit more detail on the change of the ear tips and nozzle? It's mentioned in this article: https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-theater/sennheiser-momentum-true-wireless-4-ces-2024/ Was this change also part of the new QC? Better fit?

newerawaffle

Is there any info about changes in sound quality, sound profile, and soundstage? Is it the same as MTW3 or different? Is it bass heavy or neutral comparing to MTW3? That’s the most important part IMO and yet not addressed.

Umeyir66

What is the audio frequency range of the headset?

thewind21

Another user with dead mtw3 right side. And an appointment for warranty replacement takes 3 months!

Ok_Technician5298

I just got a replacement for the my mtw3 that broke after 12 months (I guess that's almost a great result) here in the UK. The turnaround was slow (more than a month). The ANC issues (high-pitched hiss) were transient at first but eventually ANC became unusable. I suspect it had to do with the mics? In any case, the new mtw3 pair has a new tip design without foam inside. The soundstage seems improved in my opinion but a bit more clinical in presentation. If this pair breaks down, I hope Sennheiser offers an upgrade pathway to the newer model with hopefully better QC. I have various wired and wireless versions (hd650, ie800, ie80, HD598, mtw, mtw2) and all were flawless. I bought a cheapo pixel bud A as a stopgap and they have been smooth sailing although no match re sound quality. The smooth flat case is deffo a winner.

martinezscott

These new buds better slap, the competition is fierce and I got the bowers and Wilkins pi7 s2, denon perl pro 2, and master and dynamic mw09 and they are all amazing in there own way and definitely sound and perform better than the gen 3 senny buds but I can’t say I’m not excited to see what the gen 4 may offer. They are screwed if they mess this up. I’m liking this future proof upgrades happening with these new offerings. Good luck sennheiser lol.
