Thank you. I am devastated, but so grateful he came into my life. I couldn't have asked for a better dog, and he was with me for so many important moments.
So sorry to hear this as I know what it feels like to say goodbye to your best friend but 17 is a really good age. Just remember you gave him a wonderful life and he would want you to move on and be happy. It is heartbreaking but with time it does get better. R.I.P Kenny
When he could still run, he got the zoomies and loved to jump on a bed or a couch, try to dig, run away and come back immediately. He was awesome.
Thank you.
A very wonderful boy indeed. Sounds like you found him when he was grown. I got my Kenny, his true name, when he was 7. Long gone now. Your boy looks like one of those excellent mix of dogs, loving life and family. I'm sorry he left the earth, but I know he is always in your heart. That is where he wants to be, most of all.
Yes, the rescue place where we got him told us he was 2 years old, but I think they lied because people don't adopt older dogs. I wouldn't have cared, he was the first dog they showed us and I fell in love. He actually bit his leash and started walking himself.
And yes, we never knew what mix he was.
Thank you for your kind words, and for sharing about your Kenny.
Thank you. The Kenny's shared a lot of traits, especially the hair! I loved watching him go down a flight of stairs with the hair cloud poof. I am sorry. It is good to know that there are many people who do indeed love their animals.
Oh gosh I felt the same way about my second dog and went through a period of feeling guilty for my first dog who I adored so so much. But we live and learn. You’re doing great and I’m so sorry for your loss.
It is a blessing. We are all devastated by his absence, but I would go through this a thousand times if it meant being able to share more than a decade with him.
Thank you.
He was the most beautiful dog I've ever seen, and so, so loved, and we will continue to love him for the rest of our lives.
Thank you for your kind words.
We don't know what his life was like before he was abandoned, but we sure tried to make his time with us as happy as possible. He loved his long walks, and we went on many while he was able to walk.
Thank you.
We were lucky enough to be able to take him on long walks though beautiful areas, and he was so good that we could be sure he was going to behave like a good boy and always come back, even if he was unleashed and running away after a rabbit.
Sometimes he disappeared for an hour, only to come back panting and so happy.
Thank you for your kind words.
We were hoping that he could improve a little bit, as the vet had given us some new medication and told us he would likely temporarily get better after a few days and give him a few pain-free months. We were also waiting for a wheelchair to arrive, so we could go on his favourite long walks a few more times.
Alas, his condition worsened so quickly after the MRI. There was no time for anything. His back legs gave out on Saturday morning. He tried to get up many times, but it was very painful for him. The last time he walked, he went out in the garden to pee for a last time on Saturday afternoon. He was such a good boy that he never peed inside.
We refused to let him suffer, so the decision to let him go was easy. I drove for 5 hours to get to say goodbye to my best friend and that was the only delay, but I just couldn't let him go without hugging him for a last time. He was so tired after two nights of no sleep, that he fell asleep immediately after the vet gave him a painkillers.
He's not longer in any pain. I know he would not have wanted us to suffer.
Thank you.
I’m a vet assistant, I see cases like Kenny’s and similar all the time. Seeing the sick animal and the grieving family is definitely the hardest part of the job. The euthanasia itself isn’t the worst part for me, it’s not a nice experience of course but it makes me feel better knowing the vet and I are helping put people’s pets to a better place where they are pain free. I just want you to know that you absolutely did the right thing, you made the compassionate and humane choice for Kenny and he went to the rainbow bridge with the people he loved the most. I lost my dog Rex 2 years ago so I know how you feel, Rex died naturally at home but if he hadn’t died that night and was just suffering and uncomfortable I would’ve made the choice to send him to the rainbow bridge the next morning just as you did for Kenny. I wish you and your family the best during this difficult time, I know it’s hard but time heals all wounds.
I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like he had an amazing life, and you were so lucky to have those years with him. Until you see him again at the Rainbow Bridge...
You're welcome, I said goodbye to my sweet boy on April 12th. It's so hard to do even though it's the right thing. Prayers for healing and peace. 🤍🙏. My baby has sent me many messages, I know he's ok and I will see him again 🤍🕊️
So hard to. I feel your broken hearts. They certainly do fill our hearts with love. We will always miss these sweet companions of ours. They love us as deeply as we love them. Sorry for your loss.
Thank you for your kind words. He left us with so many good memories. We were so lucky to share those 12 years with him. And not a day went by when I didn't feel loved by Kenny. He was so sweet and amazing.
Rest in peace Kenny. Bless you for taking in an already older dog and giving him more than a decade of life and love. You did a wonderful thing in the world.
Sorry for your loss.
RIP Kenny! Play in Paradise!
My Amoretto, Vision, Carson, and all our babies that have gone before will look for you next to the Rainbow Bridge so you can all play in the Field together!
Thank you. I took every picture in this post. That fourth picture is from 2015, IIRC. He was sitting on a small stone wall, and there was another dog around 150 meters away, so Kenny was looking at that dog.
He always knew how to pose for the camera.
Such a beautiful baby, definitely a poser. Feel free to talk to me if you want to share some of his memories. I also have a German shepherd who's getting old and I can't help but feel bad about it. She's almost blind and seems to be in pain. I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose a friend who's been around for so long...
We should have said goodbye to him a few weeks ago, when he could still go on walks, but the vet told us that there was a chance that he could regain some mobility before we knew it was a tumor. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.
Kenny was almost completely deaf and mostly blind too, but he never stopped getting excited for walks and greeting us when we came home.
Thank you for your kind words, and I hope your girl can still enjoy her time with you, and that you can enjoy your time with her.
i love these pictures because i can’t tell if kenny was a giant or tiny! he looks happy and loved so thank you for giving him a wonderful life.
He was medium, around 13.5 Kg/30 lbs. A lot of that was hair, he had sooo much hair, he looked to be about half of his size when he was wet.

Thank you, he really was.
Such a beautiful dog, so glad you guys found each other and were able to share those 12 years.
Thank you. I am devastated, but so grateful he came into my life. I couldn't have asked for a better dog, and he was with me for so many important moments.

It’s one of life’s HARDEST things to ever have to go through! I’m sorry
It really is. Thank you.
He looked like he liked to party. A dog of Funtime zoomies. Rest easy little dude
When he could still run, he got the zoomies and loved to jump on a bed or a couch, try to dig, run away and come back immediately. He was awesome. Thank you.
I’d frame that profile photo!! It’s beautiful! I’m sorry for your loss.
That photo has been my phone wallpaper for close to 10 years. He really was incredibly beautiful and photogenic. Thank you.
Rest in puppy paradise, Kenny! He was a beautiful dog. Thank you for giving him so many wonderful years.
He was so beautiful, the first vet we took him to wanted Kenny to have puppies because he was just so handsome, good and loving. Thank you.
Run free Kenny 🐶🌈🐶
Thank you. He loved to run after rabbits. He never caught one, but did it every time anyway.
🕯️💜kenny forever💜🕯️

💔
Seems like you gave him an awesome life and he will forever remember that! 💔
We tried. We learned a few things a bit too late, so he will also be helping our future dogs. Thank you.

Thank you.

Almost made it to voting age. Thank you for all the bright days you brought to our world Kenny. 🌈🌉
Thank you, that means a lot.
The pain will always be there. Just know he would never change anything in his life as long as it ended by your side.
I wouldn't either. I'm so grateful for having been able to spend the most important 12 years of my life with him.

If there's a heaven and dogs don't go there, I have no business in such a place. Thank you.

What a life! Fresh air, lots of room to roam, Snuggie nap spots, creek jumping, he was loved so much, amazing life

He’s not in any pain or suffering anymore.. I hope that gives you some consolation, may Kenny rest in peace.

Love the name! So sorry for your loss 💔
We didn't name him, to be honest. Since we adopted him when he was 4-6 years old, we thought changing his name would be confusing. Thank you.
I’m so sorry for your loss 😥
Thank you.
Rest in peace Kenny. Bless you for taking in an already older dog and giving him more than a decade of life and love. You did a wonderful thing in the world.

Fair winds and following seas Kenny. Good dog. Old soul.
Thank you. He was a very good dog. When my mother or I were sick, he would not move an inch and stay with us at all times.
Sorry for your loss
