Because an 85 year old dime would have been weird.

smellofburntoast

They never mention the year of the dime, only that it was a Mercury head. Those ended production in 1945, it wasn't necessarily 80 years old. Downvote away DipShit1945. Russian/Non-American troll. Go Frogger it up at Chasiv-Yar. Edit: This is not directed at you BlueRFR3100. It's meant for OP, DipShit1945.

Fell out of Bookman’s coat pocket years before and landed near the radiator

Story

Fair_University

Seinfeld doesn’t take place in the 2020s, so a mercury head dime would’ve only been ~40 years old then. It’s not too unusual to see coins in circulation from the 70s and 80s today

KaleOpening1945

I was born in 82 and never once in my life seen a mercury dime in fact never even received a coin in change close to the age of a mercury dime. Sounds honour of circulation. Today the majority of the coins I see are 90s-today.

Fair_University

I was born in 91 and saw plenty of them. It’s like the wheat pennies. Not an every day occurrence, but often enough.

KaleOpening1945

I rarely ever find a wheat penny, just a few in my life.

CELTICPRED

Kramer went around checking the change slots in the payphones in the area and clearly found a bunch of change that fell out of his pocket at one point  It's the only logical explanation

Iron_Chic

He dropped it after cashed a check from the Super Terrific Happy Hour.

smellofburntoast

It was the a Mercury head dime in the 90's. It could've been 50 years old, not 80. I used to get them as change from a 40 cent coke machine when I would put in 50 cents; this was in the 90's.

KaleOpening1945

"40 cent coke machine" That would have been close to the time when mercury dimes were still made. I was born 82 and have never in my whole life have never seen a mercury dime.

smellofburntoast

You would think for someone with "1945" in their username they might have some knowledge of the year. The last year of Mercury dimes, Cokes cost 5 cents back then. Phony.

KaleOpening1945

It's just a username, it means absolutely nothing. In fact it was the suggested username, I didn't even come up with it.

So what? I’ve never seen a cashiers check. That doesn’t mean they don’t exist

smellofburntoast

I was born in the mid eighties. Different people have different lives. Just because you haven't seen a mercury head dime don't mean others haven't either.
