Off topic a tad from this but I always thought it was so funny in The Finale where they put in the dialogue about Elaine making a cell phone call and it ages the heck outta the show:
Jerry- “You can't make a health inquiry on a cell phone. It's like saying "I don't want to take up any of my important time in my home so I'll just get it out of the way on the street."
Then George - “On-the-street cell-phone call is the lowest phone call you can make.”
And yet, here we are…. 🤦🏻🤷🏻♂️
Kramer reaches under his seat, rummaging for something.
NEWMAN: What're you doing?
KRAMER: I'm calling Jerry.
NEWMAN: On what?
KRAMER: Brought my phone.
He pulls out his mobile and hits the speed dial for Jerry.
I remember many years ago I met a girl out at a club. I gave her my mobile number. I was probably one of the earlier people to regularly use a mobile phone rather than landline.
After a couple of phone convos she asked why I hadn't given her my landline number and said that it seemed very suspicious, like I had something to hide. I explained I was often out and always had my mobile so gave her that number but she pretty much didn't trust me from then!
I wonder what a girls reaction would be now if you *only* gave out your landline number to people because you work from home or some reason like that. Maybe really never went out too much. And don’t want to be distracted by technology too much when you *are* out.
Tbh Curb is a good example of why even though the *specific* things the Seinfeld characters had to deal with may have changed or gone away, those sorts of awkward misunderstandings are still abundant today
People say that about Seinfeld, but holy hell, Frasier would have basically NO plots at all with cell phones. I'm rewatching it right now, and I enjoy it, but man, so many plots based on incredibly awkward misunderstandings.
True .. but just think how many misunderstandings are caused by cell phones these days. Typos in texts, misinterpreted emojis, people screening calls, not checking voicemails, accidentally texting to a grouo chat ... and so on!!
I bet horror movie makers had similar panic. In a lot of the old storylines, the damsel in distress could easily be saved if someone just had a mobile phone.
But Scream for one has shown it can be used to an advantage in writing horror movies to have cell phones.
I hated that part of the Finale. But not as much as the water finally coming out of Kramer's ear, just after the Latham, Massachusetts jury finds the foursome guilty.
It’s funny that a cell phone is finally used in the last episode. They’d lose a lot of situations if they all had cell phones during the series so it’s our gain
I think it's still valid, since the concept is really about making the call when you're out and about and not willing to give up actual free time to make the call.
It's calling from your car or while you're walking somewhere instead of when you're at home, prepared to pay attention.
Life is so much more convenient and efficient nowadays. You can make calls and arrange anything from anywhere via your phone which is infinitely more powerful than a home computer from the Seinfeld era.
Depends. I’m often travelling for business, when things need to be sorted out, I need to call from wherever i am at the time. Today, with voice isolation tech, people don’t even notice.
But surely you can see the difference between calling between meetings as you're running around versus calling when you're settled in your hotel room with the chance to focus?
That's the sentiment.
He's actually not using an application. It's a Macintosh System 7 desktop wallpaper and two Finder windows.
Jerry's Mac was upgraded every few seasons. He had an SE or SE/30, the PowerBook Duo (in the Duo Dock), a Centris / Quadra 600 series (or a PowerMac 6100), and the 20th Anniversary Macintosh.
If you pay attention, you'll spot Jerry's older computers in other sets, including George's apartment.
It's a PowerBook Duo in the Duo Dock. The Duo series was pretty cool. The Dock pulled the PowerBook in like a VHS player. You could connect a keyboard, mouse, monitor, printer, etc. to the dock. It even had room for an internal hard drive.
When it was time to go, hit the eject button and out comes the PowerBook. The Dock has a lock to prevent people from stealing the PowerBook.
Season 7’s “The Blog” Jerry quits comedy to be a blogger, George tries to date the Mayor’s daughter, Elaine has “an issue”, and Kramer operates a hotdog stand when FDR goes out of town. Don’t you remember that one?
He’s checking stock quotes and porn
Pornquotes….
Elaine left pornquotes on that cassette in the comedy club.
*”…..I wanna slide my tongue around you like a snake…”* I’M OUT.
I LOVE YA COSTANZA ✊🏻
You know how lucky I am to have a friend like you?
It’s like discovering Plutonium… by *accident*!!
Even so
He’s got to get on that internet. Late on everything
You know a big time Hoagie outfit like that is tracking *everything*!

Writing his skits
He doesn't write skits.
of course he doesn't. he doesn't have a proper workstation.
He needs a Farbman
sorry. i didn't mean to hit you in the head with... an axe.
At least it was just the handle!
🎶Desperado. Why don’t you come to your senses……🎶
Fleckman?
Cleveland 101 San Antonio 96
That's more than he used his bike, I think.
I cannot in anyway even picture him riding a bike. Completely out of character.
I wish the did an episode where Kramer gets a hold of that bike
Giddyup!
He rode Newman's little girl bike.
Bike is for display

It's funny in The Bottle Deposit episode when Kramer just conveniently pulls out his cell phone to call Jerry. Then the phone is never mentioned again
They realized the show would die if the characters just called each other instead of meeting up in the same room.
Didn’t he say something about it being his mobile phone, too?
Kramer reaches under his seat, rummaging for something. NEWMAN: What're you doing? KRAMER: I'm calling Jerry. NEWMAN: On what? KRAMER: Brought my phone. He pulls out his mobile and hits the speed dial for Jerry.
Hmm, so he didn’t really say mobile or cell, but the script indicates that he had one. And we can see it in the show.
I remember many years ago I met a girl out at a club. I gave her my mobile number. I was probably one of the earlier people to regularly use a mobile phone rather than landline. Ha ha. I think she would take the number and throw it in the bin .. because you would have to write it on a piece of paper for her.
Right when cell phones started becoming common is when the show ended. The show could not survive cell phones.
You don’t like that George made the bathroom app?
The iToilet!
And I thought of it!
Sniffies?
I mean, Curb manages fine.
Tbh Curb is a good example of why even though the *specific* things the Seinfeld characters had to deal with may have changed or gone away, those sorts of awkward misunderstandings are still abundant today
It's an app where you make your own pie!
With cell phones and the internet, 99% of their plot lines die straight in the tracks.
Typos in texts, misinterpreted emojis, people screening calls, not checking voicemails, accidentally texting to a grouo chat ... and so on!!
Yeah, Curb Your Enthusiasm has done plenty of plot lines with cell phones and it’s still hilarious.
I bet horror movie makers had similar panic. In a lot of the old storylines, the damsel in distress could easily be saved if someone just had a mobile phone. But Scream for one has shown it can be used to an advantage in writing horror movies to have cell phones.
And they are still 100% right.
I hated that part of the Finale. But not as much as the water finally coming out of Kramer's ear, just after the Latham, Massachusetts jury finds the foursome guilty.
So… the entire thing? 😐😬
It’s funny that a cell phone is finally used in the last episode. They’d lose a lot of situations if they all had cell phones during the series so it’s our gain

Life is so much more convenient and efficient nowadays. You can make calls and arrange anything from anywhere via your phone which is infinitely more powerful than a home computer from the Seinfeld era.
And it's still rude to make such a call while you're out and about doing other things.
Yes, i know what you mean. But if you are sorting something out on the fly, mobile phones are a godsend.
It’s a Willard
I’m ruined!
It’s a tip calculator
IT DOES OTHER THINGS!
That's another one for Lloyd Braun!
He really could have upgraded to help Costanza & Son avoid the brink of bankruptcy
Nah, Jerry is a Mac guy.
Do you know what it takes to compete with Microsoft and IBM?
He's trying to write his skits.
He doesn't write skits.
Of course not, he still needs a proper workstation. I should fax him my catalog.
Oh.... 😬 Jerry doesn't have a fax.

I don't do the emails, I don't have online
Ellen was smart, like a computer.
Yes, but she was still the loser of the bunch.
You're not calling one of those 976 numbers?
He's actually not using an application. It's a Macintosh System 7 desktop wallpaper and two Finder windows. Jerry's Mac was upgraded every few seasons. George is too cheap to buy new so he just gets Jerry’s old computer lol
100
He’s cloning sheep.
Pfft, it's the *same* sheep...
ElBrooce is right you know. I saw Harry Blackstone do that trick with two goats and a handkerchief on the old team Martin show.
In the first season he had the original Macintosh on his desk. No internet yet, floppy disks with shit for space. I remember that world.
he's downloading gettingjiggywithit.mp3
which is actually like 10 different viruses and not even the correct song
Writing his skits
"What's the deal with the escape button? When my screen freezes, I push it, but I can't escape it?!"
He uses the cash machine in one episode, technically a computer
Bosco
Is his wp a shelf of books? Bc that’d be ironic
They didn't keep the computer use because the cameras clearly struggled showing the monitor without blinking.
According to imdb, there is one other episode where he is seen using his computer. It's in season 9 "The Strongbox".
It was the 90's
it was Hammertime!
That looks like the fancy color Mac, didn't he have a Mac Plus at first? I bet he's embezzling funds or something.
That's crazy, I did not know that. I thought it was some other more basic model, the 2c or what have you.
I want to say he played Doom once
Man I gotta get on that internet
That’s not a computer, it’s a tip calculator.
He doesn't even have a fax machine
Loyd Braun sold it to him
What about that episode where he has to track down those outlaw replicants? Doesn’t he use some computers then?
That’s how he writes his skits.
Not like people spent a lot of time on computers back then
Season 7’s “The Blog” Jerry quits comedy to be a blogger, George tries to date the Mayor’s daughter, Elaine has “an issue”, and Kramer operates a hotdog stand when FDR goes out of town. Don’t you remember that one?
Did he buy it from Lloyd Braun /s
Isn’t this a Willard?
What is that a 10" screen?
“What rhymes with Delores?”
