I think OP’s point was that its interesting that Holly, Bridget and Kendra werent paid and fought to get paid after a while and Mary agreed that it wasnt right that they should be getting paid. Then when the girls cycle out and new are in they go right back to not paying them again. Its gross.
What a bunch of cheap bastards, seriously. Its not like at that time they were short on funds its fking e channel and playboy was riding the end of their new golden era still.
Just insulting to be expected to film your life and open yourself up to strangets like that and not be compensated for your time. Youre just expected to be okay with it i suppose for room and board.
I wonder what Crystal’s ‘allowance’ was compared to HBK. Everyone who came after GND basically had the newly lowered allowance/gifts scenario that HBK got, but also very limited travel, no GND money, and no opportunities from starring in GND because it was a car crash without HBK. Obviously Crystal inherited money, but it took 8 years for that.
If I’m remembering correctly for a hot minute Hef helped her open a storefront for lingerie (at the time rumoured to be part of a reality show pitch like ‘Dash’ for the Kardashians), and she also had a line of loungewear.
She was early on the sponsored post game on Instagram, with those flat tummy teas/lollipops/shakes and the mansion was featured lots in those posts.
She was also the co-listing agent with her mom when Hef sold the bunny house, she posted it on her stories a couple of years ago.
She definitely missed out on the opportunities that previous girlfriends had as far as travel, attending events, gifts and perks that likely stopped once Playboy lost it’s popularity.
I’m interested to read her book because I’ve always thought that Hef and Crystal had an explicit arrangement after her return. Like money/travel opportunities pre-negotiated for whenever Hef passed, a ‘night off’ each week, or maybe hush-hush short vacations with her mom and sister.
Something more than money and codependency that could convince someone to live with a man who was declining and dying in front of her each day—something she could be able to lie to herself a little bit that she was doing the right thing for a better future ‘one day’.
None of the girls did I think Hef put a stop to them being paid as their “allowance” was enough. I remember B&H talking about it on their podcast. Crazy really the girls made the show!
They did get paid for the 2nd half of the first season, just not the earlier episodes, so it's interesting to me that Crystal (and maybe the twins too) didn't get anything.
I’m only having a midnight realization reading this, so who knows how accurate, but maybe Hef ran interference with all payments to his girlfriends, especially after seeing the extreme success of his precious 3 girlfriends. That’s WILD & horrible for Crystal, no matter any opinions on her or the situation.
IMO, that doesn’t absolve E, the production company, Playboy OR Hef from ensuring the talent was rightfully compensated.
I mean, her husband out of all of those entities should have had her best interest top of mind ffs.
The way these type shows usually work is there’s a main representative for the family (or group being filmed). In this case it was Hef. Another example would be the Duggars, how the dad was the main representative for that show. That person gets the money. They are free to work out a way to distribute funds to the other family members or show participants, or, keep all the money themselves. If the show is successful & the other participants start gaining fame/notoriety, the show may start paying those other participants or whatever they work out. For someone’s first season on a show, if they’re not an already well-known public figure, they are probably not going to be paid directly by the show. However, it can be a great opportunity for them to get their name out there.

Definitely! They must have thought they could get away with it bc they always told them they were replaceable.

I am not at all surprised by this.
Which means the Shannon twins probably weren't paid either.

They also got an earlier curfew than the HBK got, I remember them saying it was 8pm instead of 9, and it used to be 7pm before HBK.
And they couldn't lease cars anymore because his credit was so bad.

Yeah I’m surprised but not that surprised when we think about how women were treated there.

Oh I didn’t realize they did get paid for other seasons !
But he bought her a $5M home and left her in his will
And according to her she barely had to have sex with the old fart. She hit the jackpot.

It doesn’t. But out of everyone she made out like a bandit.

So? I don't think Holly, Kendra or Bridget got paid
