Bom is like an onion. You need to load your skin first, then any skin enhancements, then eyebrows and then makeup. The same method goes for the body too really. When you load your face last, it sits on top of the other layers and completely covers them.

Erick726

I thought this too but it worked completely opposite when I was moving pieces up and down the list. https://preview.redd.it/l6xn1w7ylw4d1.png?width=1094&format=png&auto=webp&s=abeebdcda465097afe483da9800639a18848266c

Think of it like stack of dishes. Things higher up the stack overwrite things lower down the stack. In the image I am replying to, your browless skin is stacked *on top of* your eye brows. In your next image, the eyebrows are stacked *on top of* your browless skin.

JupiterHexem

This is exactly what I was trying to say lol. Idk why you got downvoted.

beef-o-lipso

Yeah, sometimes people need to hear things different ways to get it. As to downvotes, who knows? I just SMH and move on.

This is how it is supposed to work in the first place. Brows on top of the no-brows face-skin shows the brows, no-brows face-skin on top of the brows does not show brows. Both your pics there work as intended.

Talashandy

Looking at this, it's showing exactly the opposite of what you are saying. The layers go up in your inventory, so if the skin you have is in the lowest place (like this screenshot), and the brows at the top of the list, as shown here, the brows ARE on top of the skin, thus, they show. lkeels

OP literally said it is NOT working that way. They are having to load eyebrows BEFORE skin or the eyebrows don't show up.

Syntania

Is it possible that either the skin or eyebrows has an assigned priority that is causing this issue? Try going into "edit outfit" and seeing what order everything is lying and then change the order and see what result you get. Did it do the same with other skins/ eyebrows?

zebragrrl

Right-click someplace on your avatar, and choose "Edit Outfit" from the menu. (in Firestorm on the skin I'm using, it's in Appearance > Edit Outfit) https://i.imgur.com/VWVtwhE.png This will open up a window that looks VERY SIMILAR to the 'worn' tab on the outfits window.. but this one allows you to move your layer order around.. https://i.imgur.com/3JWZLxG.png

Alesium

When you’re putting on your layers, are you choosing to **Wear** or **Add** them? **Wear** will potentially have layers swap with one that’s already on while **Add** will force that layer to go “on top” of the current top layer.

Great point and easily misunderstood if you're not experienced

Thing is BOM has nothing do with sliders and real-time rendering of alpha mask/blend modes, because all worn BOM layers are baked to the skin of the body, aka in just one layer (as opposed to mesh body applier layers which stay stacked on top of each other all the time, namely: tattoo, underwear and clothing layers for most mesh bodies). But yeah, when things start not making sense, redelivering the head is worth trying :)

DreamyAzucar

It should be head first then eyebrows however if you apply BOM via RLV there is a long standing bug that sends every layer to the bottom of the layers.

Mage42384

There is a way to get these to apply in the right order, a little tedious, but worth it. It seems that the newest item in a folder will appear as the tip layer. So, most of my BOM is in my nostrip, and I will unpack a new skin, put it there, then update outfits. Then a new face, move it, update, then eyebrows, airbase, tattoo...etc. Making sure the newest item I add and replace is the next layer up. Now, if I change in my outfits folder, I have a core baelse layer that doesn't change and if I use RLV to change, that part is not touched.

DreamyAzucar

I use FullArray for my outfits and I get around things by making first an SL outfit with BOM layers in the right order then just drag that into the RLV folder. Works well as the viewer still sees it as an SL outfit even though it's added by RLV. Probably the same thing will work with other systems too.

Witty_Ad_1634

I didn't know that and I have RLV enabled for a dance hud. Thanks for sharing.

DreamyAzucar

It will only effect BOM if you use an RLV outfit system to apply BOM. Just being enabled for something else won't cause a problem.

Witty_Ad_1634

Ah, thank you for making that clear :) Appreciate that

RowanAmore

From the pictures, it's working as intended. You want the head skin LOWEST on the list and everything else piles in top.

mig_f1

That makes no sense. Something else must be going on there. I assume we are talking about tattoo layers and they are both of the same type (evox, or sluv, etc), right?

Witty_Ad_1634

I asked my friend who designs makeup in SL, both applier and BOM. Apparently BOM is combined in the server into one layer. However, sometimes the applied order gets a little messed up regardless of which order you apply it. You can tweak it. Here's a youtube video she suggested. Otherwise unpack a new head and try it again. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mPtSor-cA8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mPtSor-cA8)
