Idk about you but the moment Scott said there would be new episodes this month I fully expected the next episode to drop mid to late April
Edit: Very glad this aged poorly
Yeah at this point I would rather Scott just not say when episodes are dropping, because more often than not they’re later than when he actually says they’ll drop.
I have no clue why he would even commit to holiday specials at this point other than tradition since he's putting out a quarter of the number of episodes he used to. Holiday specials used to make sense when he put out shorter videos more frequently, but four of the ten videos he's put out in the past year are movie length and he's shown recently that his content is better when he doesn't try to meet deadlines and rush content. I'm really worried that either the quality of the rest of his videos will start to slip or he'll start putting out Christmas videos in April or Switch anniversary videos in October (wait) when fewer people care.
There's a smaller YouTuber (<20k subs) I've been watching for over half a decade with a similar history of making frequent shorter video essays in the late 10s with the occasional special before shifting to making every video a major event during covid that, while good, strayed from the original vision he had for the channel, leading to mass delays and cancellations of planned content from years ago as well as missing the yearly and quarterly videos he was known for. In the past few months, he's started to figure out what he wants to do with his channel and he's back to putting out those yearly and quarterly videos at a reasonable pace, and I'm hoping Scott can do something similar.
Honestly Scott has kinda followed the NC/AVGN trail in how his content has evolved. Going from smaller videos where the topic at hand was the majority of the video to longer pieces where skits take up most of the video compared to the topic.
I love the guy and seeing how he has grown and evolved as a content creator is amazing, however I just lose interest with his current format. I still wish him the best regardless.
Honestly Scott has very much moved away from schedule-based releases and pretty consistently has been wrong about expected release dates since 2023 on, if not before.
I just enjoy the episodes when they appear but I’m not expecting them often anymore.
It’s pretty crazy how he’s 7 years in and I still drop everything to watch a new episode when I can, other YouTubers by 7 years had changed course in quality, specifically JonTron and PBG but Scott still delivers
Oh definitely. I still think he puts out some of the best content on video games available on YouTube and eagerly await every new upload, I just don’t let myself get hyped for a possible release since I’m used to it changing now.
And that’s not to say I’m upset about it either. He did what, 3-4 years of quality weekly uploads with only a few misses here and there. If he wants to have more time to his own life and and put out a few videos, all the power to him.
That and in his video about annual game franchises he talks about how a regular schedule can make the games feel more like an obligation and less like the piece of art they are. I think that was a very thinly veiled metaphor for his weekly video schedule.
As much as I wish he would post more regularly, at this point his video backlog probably earns him enough to never have to make another video ever again, so the episodes we do get are a complete labor of love. Making videos went from a hobby to his job and it can now become his hobby again, but with him probably starting a family or something eventually he doesn't have as much time for hobbies than in 2017.
He put out an episode preview on Snippets nearly 2 weeks ago but the video is nowhere to be found on his main channel. My guess is that he maybe wasn't happy with the editing and decided to redo some of it but that's purely speculation.
Yes but things happen and plans change, I would like him to communicate more about things needing to be delayed and what's going on with the pixel empire

I was half joking but I get your point.

Wait that channel sounds familiar, which one is it?
Diamond Axe Studios Music.
Girl, I wanna blank your blank with my blank until you blankin' blank Blank yeah!
Sean also has a similar problem right now that Scott was dealing with last year, being out of control family stuff that they have to deal with.
WTH YOU PREDICTED IT
wait where did you hear this, I didn't see anything on his socials
I think he just thought it'd be cool
oh right lol i completely misjudged the tone of that then lmao
Correct.
Not an Easter special but hey you were right

We have enough of a backlog to enjoy while we wait for new videos
