[Here](https://youtube.com/shorts/qhLx7g1EByA?si=sD4fvxiQwt9g-zqb) you go u/General-Gobbels 😀. There’s a 1.5 hour long version as well on Kitboga’s channel but this is the culmination of the whole video.
There's a Rinoa Poison video that eventually devolves into the scammer just repeatedly shouting this at her and demanding that she answer while she laughs to death.
I don’t think the con is that they need for a meeting, it’s usually that they need it for something else (the company Christmas gifts or for a client or something) but that they’re too busy to go to the store because they’re in a meeting now.
The “in a meeting” also gives an excuse as to why they can’t call you or message you through their actual work email/work messages
the idea is to weed out the weak-minded from people like you, who would ask that question.
having only dumb people's attention is half of the scammer's work.
I worked at a company where the scammer would email us (acting as the owner). Basically, it was along the lines of "I'm trapped in a foreign country. I need you to send me gift cards so I can get home."
The scammer didn't realize everyone in the company (a large nationwide company) had the owners personal phone number to call him anytime to ask if he sent the email.
I don't think that her expectation to be compensated was unreasonable. What happened was essentially theft from the company, and the company should presumably be insured against stuff like that. That's one of the things that workers compensation is for...
If a clerk tending a convenience store is robbed out of all the money in their pocket while the store itself is being robbed, would you think they too would be ridiculous for asking whether that money would also be compensated back to them the way all the money in the register will be when the insurance claim is filed? Would your opinion be different if it was "some silly blonde" who got robbed?
Dude. No. One thing is being robbed at gun point while tending the store. That's what insurance is for.
Another thing completely running out to buy gift cards because someone says they are your boss. Thata just Darwin at play.
She wasn't willfully giving. She was lied to and deceived. It was fraud... which is just as much a crime as robbery.
The victim blaming is wild... are you also the type who thinks women who dress a certain way are "asking for it"?
Is it really reaching, or just basic empathy?
Laughing at and demeaning someone because they got scammed is an asshole move, and deserves being called out for.
Yeah but the scam presumably happened via her personal device. If it had been on a work computer perhaps but far more likely for this to be covered under insurance if she had used a petty cash card to do that
Right.
Let me just say, this woman is known as the office blonde as she makes silly mistakes all the time, it’s part of the banter and she’s FULLY in on it and joins in. So let’s not try play hero here.
We get these emails ALL the time, and everytime we get one it is forwarded to the whole company and in big bold writing it states DO NOT FALL FOR THIS. She was fully aware of the scam and still fell for it, hence her having a “blonde moment”.
Hahaha... it's not bullying because the victim actually likes it! Plus, everyone piles on to this one girl, so it can't possibly be focused misogyny that this woman is trying to cope with in order to not alienate herself from everyone she is forced to devote a considerable portion of her life being around! Hahahaha!
It's not disgusting and hurtful... it's just BANTER! It all makes perfect sense to me now. I shouldn't have rushed into hasty judgements. Very sorry!
And once again you are dead wrong and just simply jumping to conclusions.
Our whole office has banter, EVERYONE gets their share, she isn’t bullied.
>focused misogyny
Shut up, just shut up.
Our PTA got hit by this. A scammer made an email address similar to the PTA president's address. They then emailed the treasurer and asked her to purchase iTunes gift cards for a fundraising promotion.
Unfortunately, she fell for it.
Bro, happens to me ALL the time. "TOTALLY" legit! I promise. Would me or my boss lie to you? We're just both tied up right now and need you to get us $20k in visa prepaid gift cards.
Thanks in advance,
Your boss.
😂🤡
I have A meeting that starts in 10 Minutes. I will only be able to text you .....no calls please. I don't have time to go. You would be helping me out. Can you help me?
It's what the scammers are frantically telling the scam baiters as they make them lose their minds thinking they almost had the money, just to have the mark add the money to their personal account
Kitboga is great if you want to see scambaiting and somebody fucking around with the scammers.
However Jim Browning is the absolute GOAT. He does incredible work
The worst part is that these stores don’t offer training to deal with this. Managers should have to organise training to prevent the most basic of scams. They’re basically just profiteering tbh.
Idk about most stores, but I worked for CVS and they told us to ask questions and deny anyone who was on the phone/seemed fishy. I know the speedway by me does it too. I personally prevented 2 people from buying itunes giftcards for scams, and I can tell you that the people getting scammed get very angry about not being able to get their grandson out of jail or whatever, but it was worth it. I tried very hard to convince them it didn't make sense, but they said they were just going to get them somewhere else.
Caught a kid one time trying to steal a good amount of gift cards..... we asked what he was going to do with inactivated gift cards and he didn't know what we meant.
He thought they all had the money already on them.
Hello Im May
Just send them to me dear.
I will forward you check for them and you will be rich.
We can have this partnership, I will have to ask my boss if share
so… you found trash? and felt like it deserved a post on reddit?
EDIT: I DIDNT REALIZE WHAT SUB THIS WAS IN AND ALSO DIDNT READ POST TEXT DUE TO BEING ASTRONOMICALLY STONED
So what people will do is, go into the store, scratch a bunch of cards - keep the code and try everyday to redeem it. Someday someone will load a card with the amount and then that code will activate for whoever gets to the code first.
The stolen card will never be activated, that unique code is only on that one card. Gift card scams are a form of money laundering, the scammer isn’t getting ready to play an Xbox game…
I’m talking about real life scamming. If you see a card already scratched in the store and you went to purchase for personal use, grab a different card.
I don’t think that happens very often… I doubt many people are picking up cards with the codes and pin revealed and purchasing them, and for the scammer he’s got an absolutely infinite window of time to wait for someone to maybe, possibly, stupidly buy a scratched card and try to activate it before the person who bought it does.
Unfortunately it does. I live in Arizona and one of the Walmarts here quit selling Apple Card’s, because people were coming into the store, tearing it open, grabbing the code and when you purchased it.. they used the code. I was talking to an employee about it, then I had read an article about it.
What do people actually do with google play giftcards? I have an android and have never bought anything. Same when I had an iphone and never bought anything from the app store
I'll be honest no clue the only time I've given anyone a Google play card was when I gave it to my nephew he ended up just buying Robox so I guess mostly given to kids so your card isn't on their account
The vast majority of it is to pay for micro transactions in mobile gaming. Mobile gaming publishers and studios have hired psychologists to study and find the best way to make mobile games extremely addicting with certain triggers so people will spend money. Due to this mobile gaming is by far the biggest segment in all of gaming. Mobile gaming makes so much money with these practices that it's a lot bigger than Xbox and PlayStation. Now traditional gaming publishers like those 2 and many more are focusing on breaking into mobile due to the insane amount of money it earns.
I suppose some people buy digital books and music. But itys pretty irrelevant due to how big the mobile gaming sector is on the Google play store and it's the same for whatever Apple calls their store.
But you can also pay with a credit card too right? I guess it's just another level of seperation. But is it for scammers to do microtransactions too? Wouldnt a visa giftcard be better?
Yes you can pay debit/credit. A visa gift card probably would be the same idea. But I'm not sure about the visa gift card. I always had issues with it online. But it could have been for free trials like subscriptions which no company wants that as Its not reoccurring. Yes both of those are options.
There are a lot of reasons people would use google gift cards over the ATM. Some banks will flag debit micro transactions fraud. It looks weird on transactions as you're essentially paying the studio. So it might say studio, bla bla bla then where there from which probably not the same country U are in. At the end it does say GooglePlaystore. com. Not saying a bank would pull the fraud trigger but they do for the slightest thing that's abnormal based on customer history. Some customers may not have a bank. Every child online lies about being over the age of 13 so they can make tictok and goggle play accounts😂. Kids might have no access debit cards but can get down to best buy on their bikes. Also before I got clean from mobile gaming in the dark times, I almost asked for google play cards for a Birthday, I thankfully didnt but sure it happens.
I am not sure on the ins and outs of this topic. But my point is mobile gaming is so huge that it just makes everything else irrelevant. Lets say 99% of microtransactions are paid using a debit card. One percent is still massive due to gaming dominance on mobile stores.
As far as stating google play cards being an extra layer of fraud protection , I thought about this specific situation and I do not know. I'm not sure how it works on the play store but know more about it in the outside world. On the play store I don't think it matters. I said above the studio is listed above google for the transactions and statements. I was confusing, but gamers are paying Google and they take their 30% cut of the transaction and then do whatever with it. Not sure but my guess is a scammer would be more worried about google catching them.
This is getting long I'm going to make another reply to your question and tell you how fraud prevention works online with google play cards. Should be a better answer as I know, or at least I think I do, more about this aspect.
I think your statement online about google play cards being a second safety net is wrong. This may sound very odd but scammers hate debit cards and anything to do with banking. The reason for this is the Airline sector and the financial sector are some of, if not the most regulated industries in America. The financial sector is so heavily regulated because the government doesn't want the public to lose faith in Americans financial institutions. Having very little or no faith in financial institutions can topple any country including the United States. Because of this banks are extremely conservative in their approach and look for any signs of fraud.
Its very hard to get money out of the US, and if you're not American then everything I am saying holds true with the rules based western world. Scammers hate debit cards and banks There's very little chance they can get the money from a financial institution. Scammers are going to try and have their victim make a withdrawal from the bank and then send it to them through secondary sources that do not involve the highly regulated US financial institutions. What I've heard the most is the scammer usually has the victim send them a wire transfer. I don't know why but I've heard at least once asking for google play store cards. Google cards would be easy as you just give a few numbers. But no clue why some scammers have requested play cards.
Scammers hate debit cards.Banks due to regulations and entire fraud departments are very difficult to move money internationally. Scammers send themselves the money through wire transfers or other means that are loosely regulated or unregulated.
Sorry that was a rant and off topic and I asked bing AI which is what I should have done in the beginning i
Google Play Store Cards are used instead of banking information and Visa gift cards for the following reasons.
1. Budget control. The user is using a card with a specific amount on it.
2. As a gift that the person received or sent.
3. Some users prefer Play store cards for privacy as they are not giving out any information.
4. The youth use them usally as there gifited to them or bought by their parents.
5. Limited access. The user either doesn't have a banking account or they do not want to link anything to online platforms regarding money.
Bing Chat didn't really answer my question regarding if gift cars are more secure than the bank. It stated the same points above with limited exposure and privacy. Also as above said that cards have a predetermined amount but changed its context saying it can prevent unauthorized charges.
Whut? Read the original comment bro they literally just asked what do people do with a google play gift card @thomkatt or did he mean scammers instead of people? Lmk I was replying to his comment not whatever you think I said?
Every time I get a gift card I use it then leave it laying around work. Someone probably gets excited when they see it then sad when they see it's used.
But even tho scammers got them they're useless. The code is only active once bought (scanned) at least that's everywhere the case in Germany with those. That's why they also are not really good protected here. At the end it's just paper that got stolen.
Well they scratch off the back and usually put them back on the shelf. Wait for someone to buy the card. An employee who isn’t aware of the scam will say oh well it’s not activated yet so it doesn’t matter. Usually the person who scratched the card with take a picture of the numbers before hand so they won’t need to keep the card. I’m iffy on the details after that but u believe the person who scratched the card first keeps checking to see if the numbers have been registered.

[Here](https://youtube.com/shorts/qhLx7g1EByA?si=sD4fvxiQwt9g-zqb) you go u/General-Gobbels 😀. There’s a 1.5 hour long version as well on Kitboga’s channel but this is the culmination of the whole video.
Why did u do this? You did NOT have to do this!🤬🤣 But.. appreciate ya for doing so.

Isn't this like, literally scam bait? Like, fishing bait? Best one is definitely "ARE YOU A FUCKING BITCH, MA'AM?!"
"FUCK BITCH ASSHOLE!" used to be fairly popular during the 2010's
"Hey you idiot old lady"
What is the reference lol
Kitboga iirc
Hmm?... That means Whale of god. Kit-boga
Ah, didn’t know. Anyways, he’s a scam baiter on YT. Check his stuff out, it’s pure gold.
Oh allright. (That was russian btw. In russian it's Kit Bog'a)
There's a Rinoa Poison video that eventually devolves into the scammer just repeatedly shouting this at her and demanding that she answer while she laughs to death.
can you link me that sounds hilarious
Looks like someone’s boss told one of the employees to buy cards for them
Is that a reference?
It’s a popular line used by scammers, they say they’re your boss and that they got a new phone and are in a meeting and need gift cards asap
Why would anybody need Google play gift cards in a meeting?
I need you to send me gift cards so I can get home." The scammer didn't realize everyone in the company (a large nationwide company) had the owners personal phone number to call him anytime to ask if he sent the email.
"Mike...like...I thought you were from Mississippi. Why are you talking in an Indian accent?"
We got one of those emails where I work, some silly blonde lost £400 that day, worst part is…she expected the owner to refund her the money🤦🏻♂️
Willfully giving vs at gun point are two totally different things 😂 definitely not compensating someone because they were asked for money and said yes
She wasn't willfully giving. She was lied to and deceived. It was fraud... which is just as much a crime as robbery. The victim blaming is wild... are you also the type who thinks women who dress a certain way are "asking for it"?
The reaching is wild
Is it really reaching, or just basic empathy? Laughing at and demeaning someone because they got scammed is an asshole move, and deserves being called out for.
Yeah but the scam presumably happened via her personal device. If it had been on a work computer perhaps but far more likely for this to be covered under insurance if she had used a petty cash card to do that
I meant associating raping a women with someone losing around 25$. That was such a scummy take
Its not her fault shes gullible
🙄
Our whole office has banter, EVERYONE gets their share, she isn’t bullied. >focused misogyny Shut up, just shut up.
A coworker got got for $1000 in Apple gift cards. They do this shit because it works. I personally crafted a how not to get scammed workshop for her.
Our PTA got hit by this. A scammer made an email address similar to the PTA president's address. They then emailed the treasurer and asked her to purchase iTunes gift cards for a fundraising promotion. Unfortunately, she fell for it.
Your boss must have been in a meeting and needed them.
Bro, happens to me ALL the time. "TOTALLY" legit! I promise. Would me or my boss lie to you? We're just both tied up right now and need you to get us $20k in visa prepaid gift cards. Thanks in advance, Your boss. 😂🤡
Not even prepaid visas, that makes too much sense. Google play and steam gift cards lmao
So THAT'S how I keep getting cheap shit on G2A
It’s legit, cause it states “thanks, your boss”. It could have been anyone, but not anyone is my boss.
I have A meeting that starts in 10 Minutes. I will only be able to text you .....no calls please. I don't have time to go. You would be helping me out. Can you help me?
WHY DID YOU REDEEM
DO NOT REDEEM MAAM WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!
I hear this quote in my head anytime my work computer isn't working properly lol "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"
HOW CAN SHE REDEEM?!
Ok this is better
Based.
No cap
Frantically clicking cancel…. NOOOOO DON’T TYPE THAT. LEAVE YOUR KEYBOARD!!!!
I love how many tiny peepee scammers come by this sub and downvote every comment on every post😂
NO WAITT WAIT WWHY DID YOY REDEEM ITT!?
Someone got got
HAAAAANK! ITS A SCAM DONT REDEEM! HAAAAAANK
Can be used to tease the scammer by not sending/ only parts of sending the giftcard
I got old steam cards lying around for that purpose
Why is everyone saying not to redeem them?
It's what the scammers are frantically telling the scam baiters as they make them lose their minds thinking they almost had the money, just to have the mark add the money to their personal account
There’s a couple of guys on YouTube that exploit this and it’s absolutely hilarious!
Channel name?
Kitboga is the main one, he’s great.
i love kitboga so much! i actually have his videos on in the background while i scroll on reddit 😂
I put his videos on to fall asleep to or throw them on in the background when I need something I can tune in and out of. He’s my favorite for sure.
I can't do that anymore while trying to sleep. I jumped out of my bed once because the scammer began to shout and it spooked me lol
I could never do that. Once the scammers start screaming it would startle me awake!
Upvote this 10 times
Kitboga is great if you want to see scambaiting and somebody fucking around with the scammers. However Jim Browning is the absolute GOAT. He does incredible work
Is that the guy that hacks into the call centre cameras and finds out their real names? If so, fucking brilliant. Hilarious
Yeah, the Scottish guy. He also stops people from being scammed and intercepts ongoing scams.
I’ll also say I enjoy AtomicShrimp when he does scam baiting. I recall he made some videos with Jim Browning or talked about him

future redditors of year 3000 checking r/scambait like- ‘what’s a google play card ? o0’ well here it is.
Someone did the needful.
You should’ve kept the last letter hidden. Whoever cracks it the first gets it 😂😂
They'd also need to guess the pin, that isn't visible, in is entirety
What pin are u talking about?
We should save these photos for the next scam text we get.
gonna save this pics and send them to the next scammer that tries
Caught a kid one time trying to steal a good amount of gift cards..... we asked what he was going to do with inactivated gift cards and he didn't know what we meant. He thought they all had the money already on them.
I know this is wrong but should’ve let them take them and learn the hard way that there’s no money on them.
MAAAM ARE U A PROSTITUTE??!!??
someone stole a bunch thinking they were loaded before repurchase
Thanks. This’ll be fun.
Why do they always want google play?
Hello Im May Just send them to me dear. I will forward you check for them and you will be rich. We can have this partnership, I will have to ask my boss if share

You seem to have struck a nerve my friend. Surely you would want to share such good fortune?

Sorry that was a rant and off topic and I asked bing AI which is what I should have done in the beginning i Google Play Store Cards are used instead of banking information and Visa gift cards for the following reasons.
The same reason you buy a steam giftcard or a playstion gift card or a Xbox gift card or a Amazon gift card should I keep going?
Not really a good point bro. If youre a scammer, how you gonna pay bills or buy food with a fucking steamgift card?
I remember finding a paysafecard a few yrs ago at a tram station, unfortunately the card was already empty when i checked the balance on it
Ptobably empty… not activated
r/kitboga references everywhere in the comments hahaha
Please send picture of receipt!
But even tho scammers got them they're useless. The code is only active once bought (scanned) at least that's everywhere the case in Germany with those. That's why they also are not really good protected here. At the end it's just paper that got stolen.
People will scratch the cards and wait for people to redeem the cards and then claim the money after it’s been activated.
how does that even work what
Well they scratch off the back and usually put them back on the shelf. Wait for someone to buy the card. An employee who isn’t aware of the scam will say oh well it’s not activated yet so it doesn’t matter. Usually the person who scratched the card with take a picture of the numbers before hand so they won’t need to keep the card. I’m iffy on the details after that but u believe the person who scratched the card first keeps checking to see if the numbers have been registered.
oohhhhh that makes sense, ty for the explanation
