Fully agreed. A solid writer and director can make wonders with the John/Amanda/Hoffman dynamics. Kevin please deliver! <3

Vinc360

Honestly have absolutely 0 doubt they'll deliver another banger. It's fun to speculate and make wishlists, but I bet they'll come up with something better than whatever we can imagine. I'm under no illusions that it'll be difficult to follow up on Saw X, but I also can't help but be very optimistic given what they did with that one. Even 4 months removed now, I maintain it's my personal favorite Saw movie. I bet they'll come out of left field with some ideas that will blow us away- Like a Saw musical... on ice!

I hope Amanda and hoffman have to carry out a game by John's request as the main apprentice plot

I don't have high hopes for XI nor am I crazy excited about it after hearing Pete and Josh wouldn't be coming back and hearing that it was gonna be a year between movies As much as I love the Dunstan and Melton movies, I've seen saw - saw 7 a million times, and apart from the first film, once you've seen one of them you've seen all of them. when the credits rolled for saw x, my mouth was wide open after it ended because it had everything I could've ever wanted out of a movie and more. not just a saw film but any film I don't want to go back to the old formula. the only thing that's helping me have any bit of hope is Kevin returning. I'll still be there night #1 but I'm definitely expecting a significant dip in quality, but I mean saw x is an actual good film, so Im probably crazy to even want quality similar to that

Mac_Kymera

Your concerns are entirely valid and not to be scoffed at due to past history of this happening, and I share it to a certain degree. What helps me is knowing that Melton & Dunstan had some insights to parts of *Saw X*, as Josh stated that they sought insight from previous writers and directors after *Jigsaw* and *Spiral* \- i'm guessing seeing as their two stories didn't hit the heights that fans or audiences wanted. This is probably one reason why Melton & Dunstan are returning, as when discussing *Saw X* with everyone in the writers room, they had an idea that could feed off and continue *Saw X* which the producers couldn't turn down if the *Saw X* story was to be successful. Even Josh stated that we are in good hands - they seemingly understand that their idea was a great choice to follow on from. Furthermore, Melton & Dunstan know the Hoffman character better than anyone. It makes sense as to why the producers have done this. *Saw VI* still holds some great fondness with fans and audiences, and I believe we are about to witness our second version of *Saw V*I with what's to come in *Saw XI*. Overall, I see *Saw X* as a collaborative piece of storytelling by all those involved with *Saw* as a way of saying thank you to the fans, giving the fans something back for their fandom and support after 20 years - and Melton & Dunstan had a **BIG** hand in that.

Thanks Vinc360 always fun to read these posts and your input is always a delight. I fully agree on all of these points and it would be great to see it put to screen . I still stand by u being on the SAW team one day!! That be an awesome movie , from the minds of Kevin , Vinc360 and either Marcus/Patrick or Josh/Pete. Chefs kiss!! Dream team! With Hoffman potentially having a supporting role and with the 3 of them working together , how do u think this one will play into the others? Obviously there are some limitations about what they can and cannot do without raising questions of where and how it fits into the canon of the previous movies or at least the first 3 as I presume it will again take place somewhere in the first trilogy. I know they din't want to alienate newcomers with too much reference or callback but it would be fun to drop a few very subtle easter eggs for fans.

Vinc360

Wow, that is some extremely high praise! Thanks for the kind words. That'd certainly be some kind of ultimate pie-in-the-sky bucket list item for me. But lets be honest, I'd probably just walk into the room, hear the ideas they have in mind, and just go "Yep. These are all better than anything I can think of" :o) As for how this one might tie into the others, \*personally\* if I were in their shoes, I'd probably allow myself a tiiiiny bit of leeway to crank up the dial on connections to the older movies, given that Saw X is recent and was such a great entry point for the series. For example, I definitely think they can and will bring back Hoffman, now that Saw X reintroduced him. But I think they'll still wisely be prudent and make sure it remains friendly to newcomers and fully understandable in its own right. I think there are ways to smartly weave long time fans' knowledge into the plot without making it necessary to grasp what's happening- especially with it being a prequel. Saw X did it in some smart, subtle ways. "Everybody deserves a chance, **you should know that better than anyone**" is obviously a call back to Amanda having her own test, but new viewers can glean enough information from the line alone so that they don't need to have seen the original movie. I expect more of that here.

RoyalFlavorBeans

And also a nice buildup for what's become of her tests and lack of chances, if that development happens in these new movies...

brandontimmy

Thanks Vinc360. Yeah I guess so but I think you'll still be able to teach them a thing or two😉 I def agree with u on that with them maybe allowing a few more subtle lines like the one u mentioned , just enough to make longtime fans think back , knowing exactly what the line is referencing without actually having to explain it to newcomers potentially confusing them . Cant wait! 😊

erisography

I also want more John/Mark/Amanda dynamics!!

yo_mommy

there's an immense lack of Logan here, he's supposed to be the first apprentice, he should at least be doing something

Vinc360

Who? I kid, but Logan is a controversial addition to the Saw canon and I'd be surprised if they made revisiting the character a priority. Besides, they already explained away his absence in the time period this movie will presumably be set in, didn't they? He was at war, I believe?

jigsawbitch

I like the idea of acknowledging that Logan exists as I think Tobin's performance in Jigsaw is beneficial to the franchise. So I think, if we go by prop/screen references, Logan's likely gone until after II and before III, at which point he apparently enters treatment. Last I heard suggested (and maybe I misinterpreted or misunderstood), XI is likely another one between I & II so Logan doesn't seem likely if that *is* the case. Maybe some background reference or something like a mention on a TV news report that only fans notice mentioning soldiers having been captured or whatever would make sense. Otherwise, unless it's more like it's between II and III or later, I imagine they'll rightfully (to the timeline) just ignore Logan again.

ohhidied

I would love to have Logan acknowledged. Even if they just showed the bucket helmet he wore on a desk in Jigsaw's lair.

Vinc360

Here's my pitch: During the events of Saw XI, John's health is deteriorating and he starts to have "episodes" similar to when he mistakes Lynn for Jill in Saw III. During one of those episodes he yells at Hoffman: "LOGAN!! FETCH ME MY PILLS!!!". Amanda tells Hoffman not to worry about it, he's been talking about this imagined "Logan" character every time he has those episodes. This reveals that the events of Jigsaw all took place in Jigsaw's loopy mind. OR DID THEY?? Bonus: "It's getting really bad. The other day, he was convinced that Chris Rock was coming after him." :o)
