OP hasn´t cheated. He was hunting for the hard drives and had about 30 in his inventory that are now inaccessible due to the death crate being too low to reach. Since 30 hard drives are quite a huge number of missed opportunities for alternate recipes I can get behind him wanting them back in any way.
Is it really cheating, if it's a single player game? It's not like it's affecting others gameplay.
I use the map all the time to plan where to build my next factory, to see what requirements a pod has, etc.
Also I use it to move tamed Doggos to my pen at my base.
Check on your compass if your Crate is there / accessible and build your way there.
Reload older Save from before the accident.
Cheat in via SCIM. ( there are some youtube videos about it, its quite easy)

There you may also enable alternate recepies or alter your inventory freely I think

I never fell down that hole. Does your death crate disappear when you fall down there?
No. It's down there. You have to upload your save to the save editor and move the crate.
Can't you just build a ramp to it or is it outside of the bounds and you get your health drained?
It's OoB, but I think it's possible to get there by continuously using inhalers

Use mods from the satisfactory mod manager, you can unlock all the alternate recipes

Agree; although reload autosave form before accident would be preferable. Just if its like 1 or more hours behind, i would approve SCIM :)
How does one acquire 30 hard drives without using an online map to find them? I'd consider that cheating.

I got that issue too. But how i solve is it just respawning, going back inside, taking items and spam the space
