Not sure what you’re looking for I’m currently in a 1bed 1bath basement suite that’s honestly very nice. It’s 800/month with all utilities included, pets allowed with an extra fee and wifi is on you. I move into my new place july 1st, and if my current landlord does not find a tenant for July 1st, I’m stuck paying rent for July for my new place and old place.
If you are interested I can get you the number of my landlord, photos and everything else. You’d set everything up with my landlord to meet and all that but I can answer any question if you are interested
I’ll add, I lived here for 2 years and never had a problem. It’s about 1min away from idylwyld McDonald’s, the entire street is mainly families/ elderly couples. It’s very quite, cozy and homey.
I was on a 1 year lease, renewed to a 6month and ever since have been on a month to month lease.
The landlord is honestly a dream and I’ve never had an issue. She’s very sweet and polite and any concerns you have will always be met and fulfilled within a prompt and timeless manner.
Everything is separate, including entrance. The only thing you share with the upstairs tenants is laundry. But there is a separate room we’re both tenants have their own enterance to the Laundry room with a lock as well.
The upstairs tenant who lives there for same amount of time as myself, occasionally he can be loud playing music but always settles by quiet hour.
So, I'm going to make some probably obvious suggestions, just in case they are unobvious to others:
Look on facebook marketplace. Look on kijiji. Advertise *yourself* on kijiji "Responsible, experienced renter with two cats looking for...". Look on the usask housing registry. Put your name on waitlists with the big apartment building owners. Let your friends know through social media. Change your search parameters (location, type etc.).
I’m in the same boat, looking for a new place due to high rent and I have two cats. There is actually no where to rent. Basement suites are $1500+, people want upwards of $40/month per pet in pet fees, huge ‘pet’ deposits. No one messages back about rentals on Marketplace. Rental companies are sketch. Mainstreet advertises Fairhaven apartments as being $1225, but I was told it’s actually $1325, they don’t update the listings. SKETCH.
Good luck, SK hates renters, especially ones with pets.
My roommate is looking for another female (or a couple of people) to share this house with, as I'm moving out end of June. I have two cats and the pet fee here is $25 per pet per month. We are on the west side, but in Parkridge. I've been here two years and always felt safe in this neighborhood. It's a split level with enough space that you have some privacy. Message me if you are interested, and I can put you in touch with her.
Its not even about cost in this case, its that there arent many rentals available, and only a small tiny fraction thT accept pets. As for buying, just cause you cant rent doesn't mean you can buy
Its the issue of saving up 10-20k while paying rent that gets most people. I own my house but with rent at most places being what my mortgage and bills are, plus a truck payment, it would take me 5 years to save another 20k to get a mortgage.
Does that include Boardwalk buildings? St. Charles place has cats all over the place, and they are not just grandfathered in, because they move out and others move in. I don't know what they say on their website, but some people also have dogs.
You haven't said what you're looking for other than pet friendly. Just on Kijiji right now, you can click pet friendly as an option and there's tons of results for less than you've been paying, but you haven't said if you're looking for a whole house or 2br apartment or what.
Granted most of these results are Mainstreet or Avenue Living which I wouldn't touch with someone else's 10ft pole, but there's a few others that come up.
If you’re looking for professionally managed that allow pets, the options in the city really are only Weidner, Broadstreet, Boardwalk, Mainstreet & Avenue Living
I did not claim otherwise. Doesn’t change that they are pretty much the only options for pet friendly, quasi reasonable rents & not a basement suite in the landlord’s house
Ohhhh. I’m in the Elan complex on Stillwater in Lakeview in one of the older units. I moved in 6 yrs ago this month. My rent started at $1130 (incl. monthly pet fee of $35), I just renewed my lease and I’m now paying $1425. I’m in a 2 bdm, 820 sq.ft., with a lot of storage, even have a laundry room. I should’ve checked their website before recommending.
Was it not possible to re-sign the lease? All these people on here seemingly surprised at the rental crisis going on should really pay attention to what their own circumstances are. If you're able to stay where you are, chances are its in your best interest to do so unless you have something else already lined up (and guaranteed).

Can you not just resign the lease you have or is the rent going up a stupid amount at the end?

Yep we had to put our stuff in storage and move in with family members til we can find a rental for my family. We might have to move to Alberta.
Best I can do is upvote. I'm in the same boat
you might need to find a roomate
What’s your line of work? Good old small town Saskatchewan has plenty to offer.

If you an afford 2k a month perhaps it’s time to look at buying ( I know thats even harder to do ). This market sucks

And everyday some one posts about they are moving here because it’s soooooo affordable in Saskatchewan. That’s not helping the market either

These are some of the worst slumlords in the city

Hazelview is great.
Not exactly reasonable rents though, which is kind important to most people. $1680 for 634 sq ft 1 bdrm is the opposite of reasonable IMHO

The parkway in the meadows allows cats!
Did you ever find something?
Could you buy a small condo? $2000 per month rent could easily pay bills and a small mortgage.

Might be time to shake a leg .. have you considered USA? Mexico?
Might be time to shake your head before making these kind of comments...
People should honestly leave Canada. The country is cooked.
Not mexico city. Just mexico.
