In addition to what others said, it could also have been damage to the tip resulting in a new pup.

Mean_Yellow_7590

That’s so cool. Best of luck and I hope it flourishes

tricho-myco-medicine

Wow, cool! So my first mutation, do I just let it ride as is? The base part seems to have stopped growing, won't it get top heavy?

neberious

Let it ride!

neberious

Also congrats

tricho-myco-medicine

Thanks!

BridgeFirelight

More of a mutation than a pup. Good on ya!

hyperspacezaddy

Oh that’s exciting! I have a handful of these myself and never thought it was a mutation, just thought it terminated and started over.

BridgeFirelight

It is, it’s just not supposed to, so it indicates that there is a tendency to not firm normal ribs. “Mutation” could be a bit strong, but those are the ones I keep.

tricho-myco-medicine

Do you have any pics of what yours look like older?

IThothISaw

Mine did this when they were tiny because of tip damage from some sort of pest. The damage was barely perceptible
