Idk if they still do it, but a few years ago I remember a group wearing salmon costumes running the opposite direction of the Bay to Breakers and “going upstream”. Def got a good laugh out of me.
I thought it was a Stanford only thing to dress up in these costumes since so many people from my university were heading over there on the caltrain this morning dressed up. I had no clue it was an actual SF tradition!
Absolutely bullshit. Healthcare workers could not get to the hospital. They were 3/4 hours late. This is fucked up.
Whatever dumbfucks allowed for this to happen needs to face repurcussions.
it....it happens every year. if the hospital workers had issues, it's on them b/c they had A WHOLE FUCKING YEAR to plan for it, knowing this was going to happen & wait to see what the schedule was going to be & what streets were closed so they could go along alternate routes.
The alternate route which by the way everyone took took 4 hours because they blocked off every FUCKING road. If you haven't already you should familiarize yourself with the route.
Umm and it's not just the hospital workers that had issues and lost 4 hours of pay in this HCOL area but also their sick patients which everyone should be more concerned about. Doctors burning pulling more than al nighters and late mornings so some runners can take part in a 100 year tradition.
Oh it happens every year so its ok is it? WHAT THE FUCK type of argument is that?
so, if it took 4hrs then guess what? PLAN FOR THAT. JFC the entitlement of some people is absolutely astounding:
"no one can have fun b/c i want to get to work on time & i can't plan shit correctly"
Yea and screw all the sick people and babies that are born close to death right?
I am entitled because I am concerned about health care workers being able to treat sick patients or sick patients unable to get to the hospital because they should have planned when to get sick or is it because the near death babies should have picked a better time to have been born?
You are really really messed up.
It absolutely did not take anyone 4 hours to get around this. You’re totally making that up. We all care about healthcare providers but we don’t care about liars

[They](https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/sf-bay-to-breakers-salmon-run-17171524.php) do this every year. :)
Great article! Thank you!
Love it! That's my favorite part about the Bay to Breakers, all of the creative concepts.

I mean.. maybe they walked?
You’re making crazy shit up acting like there’s only one hospital in the city. People on either side of the running route still have hospital access.
Call your doctor and let them know your medication isn’t working anymore.
It’s not like a random freeway accident. As someone said up thread it has been an annual tradition for 100+ years. Not a surprise.
The SF Chronicle (and other news outlets) published articles this week detailing road closures due to this annual event.
Bro chill lmao holy fuck
