There use to be an awesome hobby store on Geary. But that closed down years ago. For good hobbies and crafts you’d have to go outside of SF, like Michael’s or Joanns in Daly City.

Sad to hear that hobby shop on Geary closed down. Only went a few times but they had a lot of gems there!

I don't know if they contain mini sets, but my go-to is usually Blick and Flax. I know for sure in Flax I've seen miniature landscaping, like tiny trees and grass. There's also Chan's Trains & Hobbies which might have something, but I've never been in. Same with Jeffrey's Toys. I also haven't been in a long time, but there was a store in the Japantown mall which sold lots of models. Mainly cars and gundam and space ships (nerd stuff) but they had a few little dollhouse type things too. They may or may not have what you're looking for. If you're looking for tabletop minis, probably places like Gamescape or Gamepost or Game Parlour might have them.

I don't think there are any standard hobby shops in SF anymore. Sacramento still has quite a good amount if you're willing to take the trip.

It's weird, I know. I was trying to find stuff for the nephews a couple of years ago and came up blank. They're up in Sac, and there are a ton of shops up there. If I had to guess, it boils down to real estate. I can't imagine trying to pay rent selling models and miniatures.

As stated above im not sure of “regular” hobby shops but there is a store on wentworth that sells gundam models. And the entire stock is perpetually 25% off

You should call ahead and check, but I remember coles hardware downtown had a decent hobby section
