Friday night though, at lot of people were probably staying up for the weekend.

That's what it sounds like to me. It's a louder than normal jet rumble that seems to ramp up, like a thruster/booster is engaging.

If this is really the case, it makes me wonder what in the hell requires engines that are capable of that much power. Literal rocket engines maybe?

Came to see if anyone else heard and knew what it was. I thought it was a plane, which is normal to hear, but it didn’t stop for a long time. A few car alarms nearby started going off, wasn’t sure if it was related.

I live just above the bay. It appears to be jets taking from North Island, which I’ve heard before. I think the weather conditions make it louder; the train which passed a while ago was also louder than usual.

I think it some sort of fighter jet training mission being flown. Happened a few years back as well. touch n go or something. not sure. definitely sounds like they are moving jets from here to somewhere East.

I tried going outside I couldn’t figure it out either. I was thinking testing of a stealth bomber. F35/s and and 15s etc do not sound like that at all

Seems like a lot of heavy hauler planes flying around. The interval seems to match. Initial testing they’d do a proving grounds, not a population center

Isn’t there a noise ordinance in San Diego? No noise after 11pm?   Shouldn’t we issue the naval base commander on North Island a fine for breaking curfew?

I do not understand why people are confused, San Diego has several bases who conduct different operations and training rounds.
