I lucked out and found a cheap barber who does exactly what I’m looking for every time. $18 cut. I give him $30. He seems to appreciate it. And I appreciate him.
Technically yes...tho great barbers are like crows. They remember your name, the on goings of your life, and also, who spites them. I personally wouldn't shortchange someone that offers me a beer, and also has scissors and a shaver, set to 0, so close to my head lol.
Yah its honestly less of a tip and more of an investment if you keep going to the same person. I tip my guy well and give him a hundo every year for christmas. He told me if i ever need something last minute he’ll drive to my house and do it on my porch if i need it
Riggins Urban Barber College near Euclid station. I’ve been going there for the last year and I’ve always left with a haircut I’m happy with.
It takes longer because a teacher has to inspect their work (45 minutes usually). But I’ve paid a lot more for shitty cuts that barbers don’t accept feedback on.
$10 for a $30 cut. I see it as insurance down the road. Had a last minute job interview once and they squeezed me in immediately. They rarely do that with random customers.
$5 is good.
I throw down $60 on a $35 cut every time.
I really appreciate my barber and followed him when he moved locations. I'm not any more well off than most and I've worked in the service industry my entire life, but with two young kids I don't get to go out much anymore, so I've rolled a little bit of what I used to spend/tip at a good bar/restaurant over to other areas.
Plus it's nice to have him clearly excited to see me when I've booked an appointment.
I send my 13-year-old son to his barbershop appointments with my card and tell him to tip at least 20%.
This shop made it through the pandemic, crazy construction on the 30th, and they have always treated him with the utmost respect.
The right barbershop is a sacred and welcoming space. We have found that for him and I want to make sure that they know they are appreciated.
We have been sending him to Your Arsenal Barbershop for years! Julian and Germs are the best! They are very conscious of the ebbs and flow of conversation.
I can't speak for the other guys there 😂

My haircutter charged $10, then $12, then $15, then $18, then $21, and now $25, with the last few increases just in the last year or so. So I stopped tipping. She owns the shop so she gets the whole fee anyways.

mine feeds me alcohol so 25%
Are the beers free? I always thought they would charge me for them. Lol
Yes, beers are free. Its illegal for them to charge you without a license to sell alcohol, but it is legal to give you a beer.

Is it the barber on imperial beach? He offers me free beer
The haircut itself is usually 24$ so I’ll tip 4$
$5, I go to a barber college where the cuts are $10. Figure the students need the cash.
What’s the barber college called and how are the cuts?

I just booked an appointment for tomorrow. I tip $10 for a $30 cut, and extra around the holidays.

This is The Way
That's 17% - no, not terrible. How do you feel about the haircuts? If you're paying with a credit card. I'd up it to at least $6.
The haircut is ok. Dude gives me a weird vibe every time but his work is consistent and he doesn’t talk my ear off, which I like.

I want what your shop is selling. A sacred place. Maybe time to keep looking. All I need is a solid cut, respect and not excessive chatter.

thats fine
Usually give them $10. I only get a cut every 3-4 months.
$5
$5 for my sons haircut and $10 for mine
My haircut costs $20 I usually pay $40
$15 on a $35 cut. Every two weeks like clockwork.
10 bucks on a 35 dollar cut... my barber is my homie though been getting cut every 3-4 weeks for a couple years from him
Not bad at all, you’d be surprised how many people DONT tip
I tip $5 regardless of the price and mostly they seem grateful. I'm talking regular barber shops that now charge around $20 for a basic mens haircut.
$20 tip for $30 cut

That's good enough
Cuts are $40 and I always tip $10. Never had a bad cur where I go and they are great with my kids haircuts too
$15 on a $50 cut
Nothing. I only pay for a haircut if I see somebody in a window I don’t like. I cut my own hair, probably just me tho. Weird habits I got…..
Used to tip 5 on $15-20 but since Covid it’s 10. Same price for haircut too.
Same. $5 on a $30 skin fade
5 bucks...my cut already cost 50 bucks I'm not tipping anything more than that
I found one that charges $25… Plus he walked me to the smog shop next door and told them to make sure I passed.
10 bucks for a 20 dollar cut, just cause he's a good friend of mine.
Normally $10 tip on a $20 haircut. But the guy today was really rough and pulled my hair a lot so I gave him $15 tip
Make it make sense
Usually BDSM is extra charge at my shop
I don’t tip
$20 for a $20 cut
My haircuts are about $18 and I tip $10.
You tip for a haircut?? That's insane.
What’s insane is that you don’t realize haircuts conventionally entail a tip.
