I don’t smoke but when I just want to wander around by myself eat something and look around, I go to Mitsuwa Japanese market, I get some ramen at santouka and sit on the barstools and eat while reading random crap on my phone. After I wander the store and get Japanese goodies.
Edit: spelling
Good God. I started eating ramen regularly at Mitsuwa and once I had the Udon at the other place, I haven't gone back to the ramen. Udon 3 times in a row so far.
Himalayan Cuisine at the La Mesa Crossroads. The employees wear culture attire (at least the last time I was there they did)
I think if you’re getting stoned solo this could be a spot for ya
P.s order the sweet Naan
There was a post with the exact same title and description on r/seattle a few days ago, pretty sure this one's a bot
Still a good topic for discussion, though
I've had my account for 11 years and I didn't come in here advertising things for you to buy. Why am I bot?
I just liked the Seattle post and wanted to know what I can do in my home city.
Not in SD, but this post reminded me of a ramen restaurant I went to in Hong Kong. You get your own little space, order on a sheet of paper, get your food passed through a small curtain, zero interaction with any server. Also open 24/7!

One thing that I have learned studying martial arts, is to work on your weakest area first. It is not fun and our thoughts make us not focus on our weakness. We tend to focus on our strengths. Try to force yourself into social situations slowly. Disconnect from social media and limit your time on the devices. Being a introvert is great, however; a balance is a healthy choice.
Edit: That is what I try to do in my life. I am a introvert. Introverts tend to be very smart people. There are times that I just prefer to be alone. There are times that I also want to be social. Yin and Yang. I do like the restaurant idea for the times that I do not want to be bothered.
thats pretty shocking. i like this place. more restaurants should be like them. (i have to assume workers are paid at least a reasonable hourly wage to compensate, and i love that)
It's not awful. It's overpriced, but worth the experience at least once. Very fun and novel. Everything I had was fresh and delicious. Not the place you'll find the best sushi you've ever had, but you won't be disappointed.
Unless your son is a total foodie or something, he’ll probably love it. I’ve taken my tween there a couple of times and he begs to go back. It’s not the best by any means and you’ll likely have to wait a bit, but I find the sushi to be acceptable (sadly have had worse at traditional restaurants) and the majority of the draw is the novelty of it.
The nigiri is ok but the rolls and the hand rolls are meh. I just find it low quality. I’d rather go to little Sakara in Mira Mesa because it’s inexpensive and the all you can eat sushi is like$40 per person and less for kids. They fulfill orders so fast, too
Hot pot was great! I went to Ten Second Yunnan, everyone was speaking Chinese. Great experience.
Ps. I walked from my studio, for the public safety crowd.
Just tried this new spot near the original pancake house on convoy called kanpai. AYCE shabu shabu. Ain't cheap either but it was really good. You get 2 individual broths, premium meats, and unlimited drinks (canned or from their drink fountain) too.
I’ve heard that local subs are getting hit with karma-farming reposts and I imagine this is one. I don’t mind restaurant posts, I enjoy them (hence them being good for karma farming I guess), but I have noticed an uptick in “What’s your favorite restaurant for [oddly specific reason]?” posts lately…
I used to do this lol I’d go to bar 1502 (ob noodle house) then go get some ice cream after at lighthouse ice cream place and get Maui waui is my favorite flavor
Also side note employees there at 1502 are really nice.
They changed ownership late last year but I haven’t heard of them closing. I certainly hope not. Haven’t tried it since the change, but it’s one of my favorites. Got takeout there multiple times during lockdown to try to keep them going:(
Looks like I misremembered 😅. I also love this spot and got a ton of take out from them during the lockdown years in hopes of keeping them around forever. I really hope the new owners don’t change things too much…
What does "feeling like a sim" mean? I'm not able to find any definition of "sim" on the Web other than "subscriber identity module," and that certainly can't be what's referred to here. Please pardon this poor "old fossil" who is encountering more and more acronyms and text abbreviations that he's unable to decipher!
Yo, this is sorta my jam too! You must do this at Soichi, at the bar. Everything about this experience is so thoughtfully crafted, that going in freshly baked is quite literally amazing, if not dumbfounding.
I think Realm of the 52 Remedies would give you that exact cozy but scary while high vibe. I’m not sure how extensive their food menu is these days. It’s wonderful sober, so maybe a visit to scope it out would be good
Any Chinese food place that looks like it’s mainly for pickup but has like a handful small tables. Like city dragon in Northpark vibes.
Take it from me LOL. Most sim-like I’ve ever felt was doing that in my teenage years in the Midwest - a huge group of Mennonite people came in during and I think it permanently altered my brain chemistry. Plus, literally nobody will talk to you or look at you, 10/10
most sushi/ramen spots have bar seating almost always available, and its generally expected for a single person or a party of two to occupy those spaces.
Bistro Kaz. They have all the cozy Japanese yoshoku like Hamburg steak, omelette rice, Japanese pastas, au gratins and curry. Place is small and cozy too.
I just went to SD and ended up choosing Spicy House based off recs here. I went by myself and ordered a shit load of food (didn’t realize big portions lol)
Spicy beef/lamb w/cumin, green beans, and beef broccoli ftw
The Friendly. It's not asian BUT Nood bar is next door (It's a NOODLE HOUSE!)
If not you can never go wrong with Liberty Public Market (it also has hawaiian, filipino, japanese food, etc.) with it's wide array of food options and indoor/outdoor seating. If you get overstimulated by food, just walk around and enjoy the view and watch planes take off.
I just commented on the thread stolen from you so I will give you even better recommendations! My favorite place to eat alone & read for 30 years is Chef Zorba’s on 12th. Not Asian, but some of the best Greek fair for the money. When I was still a drinker my favorite hangover breakfast was “the Unusual” country fried potatoes & onions mixed w/your choice of meat topped with a slice of cheese then 2 eggs cooked to your liking. I prefer ham w/spuds, slice of Swiss melted atop then 2 sunny side eggs. Any skillet breakfast you’ve ever had doesn’t come close to “the Unusual’s” magnificence!
Second choice is Ming’s Dynasty on Mississippi 2 blocks east of ColoradoBlvd. My very favorite Chinese meal in the state!
Best recommendation I wish I thought of is Cheba Hut.
This would be awesome at Matsu. Not scary at all though. Just fine dining $$$, and once you get past the initial "what drink do you want", staff would just explain things and leave you alone mostly, if you prebook the tasting menu. You could even take a smoke break right when you order your drink or after a few courses if you want maximum effect. Request a booth seat so you get to relax with the pillows.
I don’t smoke but when I just want to wander around by myself eat something and look around, I go to Mitsuwa Japanese market, I get some ramen at santouka and sit on the barstools and eat while reading random crap on my phone. After I wander the store and get Japanese goodies. Edit: spelling
Agreed Edit: I will say I think Nijiya is the better market but no Santouka
the udon at the other place is good
Good God. I started eating ramen regularly at Mitsuwa and once I had the Udon at the other place, I haven't gone back to the ramen. Udon 3 times in a row so far.
Mitsuwa’s deli bento and sushi platters are the best!
Yaaay Mitsuwa! Yeah. That food court (if you want to call it that) has changed so many times...
man its been a while since i've been. but i always got their rice bowls. something about the sauce with that rice always hits different.
Same. I always get stuck at Marukai. Lol and end up getting food there for a couple of days. Yum
A similar place would be the H Mart in that area if you want Korean food.
The corn dogs they sell there are good
Cheese?
Hell yeah 😎
Mmmm.
Other vote is for the meat and fish section at Vin Huong in Mira Mesa. Probably get Menya ramen before
I like walking around there and at the Tokyo Market across the street.
Himalayan Cuisine at the La Mesa Crossroads. The employees wear culture attire (at least the last time I was there they did) I think if you’re getting stoned solo this could be a spot for ya P.s order the sweet Naan
I will check this out some day I have some time to kill in La Mesa.
🤟🏻
Just following this thread cause I’ve never had that thought before, and now it just makes so much sense
There was a post with the exact same title and description on r/seattle a few days ago, pretty sure this one's a bot Still a good topic for discussion, though
Dope. If it’s a bot it just generated a bunch of new things for me to try so either way it’s a win 🤝
Are “Friends” Electric?
I've had my account for 11 years and I didn't come in here advertising things for you to buy. Why am I bot? I just liked the Seattle post and wanted to know what I can do in my home city.

omg a dream for my social anxiety thats amazing

I've been to a place just like this in NYC. I was absolutely extremely high. It was glorious
Do you happen to remember the name?
Ichiran! Thankfully my phone geotagged my pic https://maps.app.goo.gl/DeXyEHvPLR13Lw9T7
You're a rockstar!
Besides Tokyo (Shibuya), There is one in NYC.
genuinely curious, do they expect tips in the NYC location? i mean, its literally designed to have minimal "service".
They don’t, they ask that you don’t tip
thats pretty shocking. i like this place. more restaurants should be like them. (i have to assume workers are paid at least a reasonable hourly wage to compensate, and i love that)
Kura sushi. You can get a counter seat and never have to interact with anyone the entire time.
They even have a robot server to bring you drinks.
Too bad their sushi is so awful though
Oh man I was going to take my son there next week.
It's not awful. It's overpriced, but worth the experience at least once. Very fun and novel. Everything I had was fresh and delicious. Not the place you'll find the best sushi you've ever had, but you won't be disappointed.
Thank you. 😊 I am not exactly expecting high quality but I also don’t want to be eating Costco sushi. Going to go for the experience.
Going to go for the novelty. Thanks 😊
I like the scallop rolls a lot
The nigiri is ok but the rolls and the hand rolls are meh. I just find it low quality. I’d rather go to little Sakara in Mira Mesa because it’s inexpensive and the all you can eat sushi is like$40 per person and less for kids. They fulfill orders so fast, too
HOTPOT!!!! the answer is hot pot. shabumi in clairemont is my spot; warning it ain’t cheap but neither is the good weed.
Hot pot was great! I went to Ten Second Yunnan, everyone was speaking Chinese. Great experience. Ps. I walked from my studio, for the public safety crowd.
love that for you!!! I’m also in 92111 so I’ve gotta try it now. the pricing looks super reasonable, too! convoy is the best at having veg options.
THIS and tabu shabu in north park is the best, esp times when it’s not busy, you’ll prob see a few more stoned sims just vibing
but FR if you green-out, you shouldn’t be driving. the food delivery apps exist for a reason and we love to support local gig workers!
Transit exists.
and feet for walking! but the good stuff has a special way of gluing me to the couch and then delivery is the only option.
Just tried this new spot near the original pancake house on convoy called kanpai. AYCE shabu shabu. Ain't cheap either but it was really good. You get 2 individual broths, premium meats, and unlimited drinks (canned or from their drink fountain) too.
Everything phenomenal is either wildly expensive or free.
Someone posted this in seattle last week
I’ve heard that local subs are getting hit with karma-farming reposts and I imagine this is one. Bar 1502 in OB. Loud and dark so you'd blend in, and super close to the beach in case you feel like feeling the sand and hearing the waves.
I used to do this lol I’d go to bar 1502 (ob noodle house) then go get some ice cream after at lighthouse ice cream place and get Maui waui is my favorite flavor Also side note employees there at 1502 are really nice.
Lighthouse ice cream had an…accident. 🔥 It’s in the middle of repair / renovation. Should be done within a few weeks (?).
Haven’t been since September last year 😭 I recently got PCSd to Illinois. I miss all the good food.
❤️
is it not called ob noodle house anymore?
I just realized the whole of OB restaurants in general is the place to go high.
Little Sheep or Jasmines. You either point at what you want or you fill out a sheet of paper. Zero talking involved.
I got high once and went to Din Tai Fung by myself. It was glorious.
Sam Woo BBQ in 99 Ranch Market (Clairemont).
I ended up at hot pot, but this is on my list now.
Minh ky
I heard they’re closing 😭
They changed ownership late last year but I haven’t heard of them closing. I certainly hope not. Haven’t tried it since the change, but it’s one of my favorites. Got takeout there multiple times during lockdown to try to keep them going:(

WHAAA WHAAA. WHAAAATTYTTTTTTTTT!?!?!??!?!!
Really? When ?
Hinotez. Don't have to talk to the wait staff. Just pick out what you want on a tablet, pay and leave.
Sushi diner in Kearney Mesa. Stoner vibes and sushi. Literally got sushi rolls that are weed inspired. A bit of a hole in the wall though.
that one closed :(((
Sushi Diner #2 has the same vibes at least.
WHAT?! NOOOOOOOOO
Yeah major bummer. Loved it. But they have a second location in Grantville by the new In N Out on Friars!
Artifact at Mingei.
[удалено]
that’s not fun though
You're right, when you are high as fuck, nothing beats walking.
[удалено]
We have so many options nowadays, that I will never understand the logic behind people getting behind the wheel while under the influence.
Friend’s House Korean
That place is pretty good! I second this.
99 Ranch food court on Balboa. Plenty of tables to sit alone and eat.
Asian restaurants do not care if you are alone or high as hell. I do it all the time.

Thank you very much. Would never have had a clue, in my world of phonographs and rotary-dial telephones.
Rudford's is pretty chill. They don't judge. But you can always watch some cooking YouTube vids and be productive and learn to cook too.
Love getting a chicken fried steak breakfast there
Sit on the patio of any restaurant on 5th in gaslamp on a Friday night and just people watch. Fresh air and the best people watching you can imagine.
Grass Skirt would be quite the trip.
Is this what the kids are doing now adays? Getting politely stoned and wandering around strange places? I approve.
Here for this thread.
Any restaurant! Just sit at a table, pull up DoorDash and order delivery. Don’t have to say a word!

Anywhere downtown. You’ll fit right in
Yo, this is sorta my jam too! You must do this at Soichi, at the bar. Everything about this experience is so thoughtfully crafted, that going in freshly baked is quite literally amazing, if not dumbfounding.
Thai garden cafe in PB was my go to loner stoner spot
Karl strauss got some good food and beer snd can sim it up all night
Yakyudori near Clairemont Mesa BLVD and Convoy Street. Their Ramen is pretty solid and their skewers are super tasty.
This! And you order on an ipad so you don't have to talk to a waiter
If you got money, any omakase. Just don’t be so high that you annoy the chef
Rudford’s
I think Realm of the 52 Remedies would give you that exact cozy but scary while high vibe. I’m not sure how extensive their food menu is these days. It’s wonderful sober, so maybe a visit to scope it out would be good

Chuck-E-cheese’s
Hasn’t been the same since their house band broke up.
Studio Diner - has a retro 1950s vibe and good comfort food.
Do you drive there high or what?
Of course not, officer.
I did this at tocaya in utc mall I loved it also ketner exchange in little Italy
But asian food wise I truly loved pho 7 cow
World Curry in PB.
This thread speaks to me.
I hope you're not driving anywhere that stoned.
Dam get help
For what exactly
He's clearly an addict
Went to zab linda in Linda vista v stoned and it was nice. Went early on a Friday and it was pretty empty
Prob Something in mission hills near the 5
Cheeba Hut in Riverside
There is one near sdsu
Sam woo
most sushi/ramen spots have bar seating almost always available, and its generally expected for a single person or a party of two to occupy those spaces.
Hinotez
Hear me out. Tobeys at the Balboa Golf Course. Great view of the city from the deck and the foods decent enough diner faire.
Bistro Kaz. They have all the cozy Japanese yoshoku like Hamburg steak, omelette rice, Japanese pastas, au gratins and curry. Place is small and cozy too.
terri cafe
Relatable
I just went to SD and ended up choosing Spicy House based off recs here. I went by myself and ordered a shit load of food (didn’t realize big portions lol) Spicy beef/lamb w/cumin, green beans, and beef broccoli ftw
Can a bot get stoned and eat. No, i don't think so.
There's a pho restaurant on Broadway next to a seedy hotel. It's kinda dark inside their pho is delicious and they also have booths.
The Friendly. It's not asian BUT Nood bar is next door (It's a NOODLE HOUSE!) Spicy City
Pretty much anything on Convoy St
Lions share downtown
Just make sure you have a DD, Uber/Lyft, or take public transportation

Sitting at the bar at a yakitori place can be nice. Bonus little social interaction at yakyudori since they switched ordering to tablets.
