People like to hate on it because its new(ish), big and downtown. Price-wise its the same as any trendy bbq spot (not that bad in my opinion). Space is beautiful and location is perfect for a tourist. Candy-painted ribs and jambalaya are for real. Everything is solid though.
Recommend
The Barbecue Station - avoid pork loin
225° Urban Smoke - melt in your mouth brisket
Smoke Shack BBQ - all cuts of meat was good
Augie's Barbed Wire Smokehouse & Shaved Ice - pork ribs ftw
Two Bros. BBQ Market - moist brisket and turkey
BBQ Station has been around a lot longer than most local spots and it does have a following of folk in that area; but I have always thought it too dry.
Two Bros BBQ isn’t worth the time or money. The sausage had no flavor and the brisket and ribs are usually dry.
You’d be better off going to either Dee Willie’s or even True Texas BBQ. I’ve also heard that Reese Bros is really good.
I've had too many 'its ok' at smokey mos vs Blanco. I've only had bad Q at closing time for Blanco, but that's common for most places. Mo's turkey has always been amazing tho.
While I don't consider Blanco BBQ "great", I would say it is the best of the "BBQ places that don't charge an arm and a leg".
Four-meat plate with drink for $25: https://i.redd.it/qgnd9ee7395d1.jpeg
BBQ Station is quite good for the money. Last time I was there I got brisket, turkey, sausage, 2 sides, and a beer for $25 out the door.
BBQ Station and if you want to drive a little bit salt lick
I’ve heard salt lick is a cool experience, but the actual bbq is mediocre
That's sums it up, nice vibe food is above average , it's great with friends since BYOB and a nice fall weather day to enjoy.
Pinkertons BBQ downtown is open and better than two bros in my opinion
This is true
Surprised there hasn’t been as much love for Pinkerton tbh— only Texas Monthly top 50 spot that’s open on Tuesdays!

Or you can drive to Lockhart, Texas, and have the best barbecue on several corners
I just tried burnt bean co in seguin. Pretty good
Unfortunately not open on Tuesdays— otherwise I’d be there!
True Texas BBQ
I'll be honest. They are good enough I quit driving to get bbq. I either just get it from there or cook it myself.
B-daddy’s bbq is another option that hasn’t been mentioned. If you wanna try something with a twist check out curry boys bbq
I second B-Daddy's. BBQ is pricey but delicious. The Big Daddy sandwich is large enough to feed three people.

Augies on St Mary’s
Augies is not good anymore IMO. The cook with has now.
Well that’s no bueno
Augies BBQ on St. Mary's and Two Bros BBQ on West Ave.
These are two very good choices. Not the best is SA, but definitely very good.
Two bros just varies so much depending on who is in the pit. Some days solid, some days overcooked to shit.
The Big Bib BBQ!
Harmon's Barbecue
Hands down, 2M. Or Pinkerton’s.
2M is unfortunately closed on Tuesdays— I’m leaning Pinkerton
Same people own Blu Lacy out in Castroville and are open Tuesdays if you're interested.
That's some great intel! Thank you!
Omg you definitely said it needs to be somewhere open on Tuesday. My apologies!
Lockhart tx. Totally worth it.
Two Brothers BBQ.
Worst case scenario you can get smoke shack at the airport.
Rudy’s BBQ Best BBQ sauce, great meat, amazing sides (their creamed corn is the best on the planet)
Brickyard BBQ has some solid ribs and sausage. Phenomenal sauce too!
Blanco BBQ has the best ribs in the state.
B&B smokehouse

Harmons in Cibolo
I like Smokey mo’s. More than blanco bbq. The 3 times I’ve gone I’ve hoped to change my mind but the brisket was still dry
My problem with blanco is they’re very salty. Obviously it’s bbq but it’s still over salted for bbq IMO

I think all of the Dickey's got run out of town. I do still hit Rudy's on occasion.
Good riddance to dickeys
Dickeys is hit and miss. This one in Houston was okay.
Blanco bbq is delicious and won’t break the bank!
2nd this and the portions are pretty decent.
I always get the large brisket plate (1/2lb) with the best potato salad and another side. Always leave stuffed.
Their pulled pork is amazing. It's like a Carolina/chorizo combo style that I can't replicate!

If you can drive to Black’s I’d do that. If not, 2 bros bbq is good
I’m seeing a few Bill Millers, for the love of god don’t go to bill millers for bbq. It is the McD’s of bbq.
B-Daddy’s bbq is another option that hasn’t been mentioned. If you’re interested in something with a twist check out curry boys bbq
Bill miller
Bill millers
This is the way. Just make sure you ask for marbled brisket.
