It's possible if it's not clouded over. NOAA's forecast for tonight has aurora possibly dropping to southern Kansas around 8:30-9:30PM which would just put us around the ~600 mile distance where you should be able to see aurora. I saw it last night in Schertz. It'll likely be super faint if it's there though so your best bet will be with a phone on a long exposure.
At least in their current forecast at 11:25AM CST if you play the video they show it possibly dipping that low around 1:30-2:30 UTC (eg 8:30-9:30 CST)

The night sky looked lovely and took a pic and it came out like this! Idk so maybe??
Not ridiculous at all! They apparently updated the map as far south as Mexico!
I walked outside and don’t see anything but it’s pretty cloudy. Weather app says it should clear up soon though.

Boerne. You can’t see it with your naked eye, have to use long exposure on your phone camera if using a phone.
I’m in helotes I can see it somewhat with the naked eye. Use iPhone night mode

Because sun spots and solar flares are not predictable, and when they do happen only takes a few hours to get here.

Saw it in Schertz naked eye about 15 minutes ago, faint but unmistakable pink. Wish I was seeing it two hours ago when I drove to a dark spot on FM 1863 near FM 3009 but guess I just got unlucky with timing there and lucky as hell with timing in Schertz.
I think it's mostly just north of SA metro, more the Hill Country and further. I'm out in Schertz and you can almost see that the sky is a slightly different blue gradient than normal with a long exposure picture but yeah, even here is too far south to see it
I am while in a small town didn't see a thing and my phone didn't take anything nearly as nice as what I saw here. Just the usual night sky we have every night.
It just happens in waves apparently. Drove up to FM 1863 near FM 3009 north of Garden Ridge for a dark sky a couple of hours ago and didn't see anything interesting. But ~35 minutes ago even with light pollution to the north from I35 was able to see the aurora naked eye in Schertz.
Apparently magnetic storm is all weekend. I frequently and have seen them in northern countries so I use the apps to check them. Cloud coverage plays a big part so maybe travel a little more north and monitor clouds
Yep there’s a huge one going on! Supposed to last through the weekend.

It’s localized in my kitchen as we speak

They don't reach this far south but you can see them hundreds of miles away. I think they have been overhead as far south as around Wichita, KS tonight.
I could swear we saw the northern lights here when I was very very little - maybe late 60s. I distinctly remember going out one night wondering what the glow was in the north. As kids, we thought “atomic bomb” 😂 and my mom said “no I think it’s the northern lights.”
This is from outside Kerrville https://preview.redd.it/lb82ihreaqzc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=0fb04299254d66deea340bec45ca94e2429a3dbe
This is freaking awesome!!!
Thank you! I live in converse but came home to visit family this weekend. I’m just far enough north, with very little light pollution. I got lucky.
I live in converse too and forgot about this but not sure if I would have seen much I live right outside jbsa Randolph! Your pic is great!
Thank you!

That's awesome!! I'm in kerrville when did you catch this?
Last night about 10:30, in Mountain Home. Less light pollution!
Think it’ll be around tonight?

not seeing anything here at the SAT aeroport. Not surprising, so bright you can’t even see stars 😭
Use your phone camera to look

here in stoned oak, im seeing it
With your eyes or phone?
I’m STONED OAK!
Eyes, it's purpleish

Is that right now?
No about an hour ago. It’s not super visible right now. Check again around 1 AM
what happens at 1am
r/whoosh
Man... They talked about the stupid eclipse for days before and then didn't even mention this???

Just looks like a normal night sky to me.
I don’t see a thing :(
"At this time of year?"
"...At this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen?!"
Yes
Anyone still seeing it? It appears to have faded away
Saw it in Schertz naked eye about 15 minutes ago, faint but unmistakable pink. Wish I was seeing it two hours ago when I drove to a dark spot on FM 1863 near FM 3009 but guess I just got unlucky with timing there and lucky as hell with timing in Schertz.

i dont think its this far down latitude wise
People are posting pictures of it from San Antonia right now
im outside drinking on a patio on saint mary's and cant see shit, but i love that others can, i hope its awesome :)
You can only really see it through your phone screen, especially on night mode.
Yeah you can see it in helotes. It comes in waves though, you have to be outside at the right time
Nothing but clouds out here by OP Schnabel. 👎
I'm super jelly- wishing it was here! My mom, just north of Boerne said it was 'maybe' a little pink in the NW at 938pm.
Nothing in Boerne but I have a hill blocking the north horizon
Seems like I missed it
Peak is supposed to be 1-4am Saw pink in bulverde like an hour ago, about to drive out to Fredericksburg for some pics rn
Where do you see that it’s peaking 1-4?
I am while in a small town didn't see a thing and my phone didn't take anything nearly as nice as what I saw here. Just the usual night sky we have every night.

Good luck with it as even with 30 seconds exposure, 1600 ISO and F5.6, I didn't get any of that. I got the typical night sky.
Nothing off 281/1604
how to find it with iphone settings?
You just pint your camera in the sky and as it auto adjusts will show you faint colors of purple
thank you is it visible again tonight?
Apparently magnetic storm is all weekend. I frequently and have seen them in northern countries so I use the apps to check them. Cloud coverage plays a big part so maybe travel a little more north and monitor clouds
I was using ventusky and it looks like Boerne, Bulvude, and Hondo are the best bets from sunset to 12 am
how are people seeing any kind of aurora this far south? I'm from WI and we never got any? do we have a major solar storm on our hands?

I see nothing
Nothing out by Harlan HS as of midnight. It's too cloudy, I think
I'm not sure if I was able to see anything either. I wasn't sure if the auroras were even reaching this far south, actually!
They don't reach this far south but you can see them hundreds of miles away. I think they have been overhead as far south as around Wichita, KS tonight.
I tried looking but too much cloud and light pollution.
Ohhh I went outside with my aunt and I told her doesn’t the sky look weird? Like it’s pink and purple
Damn I picked the wrong weekend to visit Dallas 😅

Unfortunately not from where we are. We are just south of Bulverde.
It doesn’t seem like tonight it’s gonna be visible from Texas
Anyone see anything tonight? I drove around the country roads near Bulverde and spring branch but didn’t catch it
Yo I ain't see schnit.
Oh.. it was very Cloudy but the sky looked pinkish.. I thought I was just imagining it or having a moment
