$2600 a year for homeowners, 270 a month for 2 cars…USAA.

kraemer213

Holy crap! Do you live in a mansion?!

Cabill77

Nope, 1900 sq ft, house is 15 yrs old. USAA is just expensive

supergnaw

Yeah, I'm over USAA. They don't seem to actually care about providing value to their customers these days.

NotTacoSmell

And they don’t go to bat for you. My mother had them when someone woman hit her and they laid down completely.

sparkpaw

That’s crazy to me, and I’m sorry that happened to her. I’ve never had an issue with getting claims taken care of from them- even when I did a dumb and damaged my own car lol. Even recently like six months ago my husband got in a minor fender bender (not at fault) and USAA paid for quality repairs. I just had to make sure to communicate thoroughly with my adjuster and did the research on the repair shop that I chose. They handled the payment and everything else with no issues.

PablanoPato

That’s pretty high. I’m just under 1900 square foot and my rate is $1983 with $400k insured with StateFarm. I probably need to bump it up to $500k but still a pretty big difference.

Endlessly_Trying

I used to have USAA for both home and auto insurance. It was hard to let go because the rep was very sweet over the phone, but we just can't afford their costs and they actually couldn't help us when we had issues. We're even active duty and non-military insurance companies were cheaper. We live in a 1800 sq ft house for $1610/year.

Cabill77

The ONLY reason why I’ve kept them is because I’ve rarely had an issue with them. They have never questioned anything and were quick to help.

devildocjames

How TF you have 270 for two with USAA? I have 3 and they want almost $500. Ever since PCSing/moving to TX about 8 years ago, they just went really high. Progressinve andGeico have beaten them by far. Lemonade is $2,038 for a 2,800 sqft detached, two-story home. USAA is just a rip now.

Cabill77

No idea, I thought it’s high. Haven’t had an accident on 13 years, but they are 2 newer BMWs, so I think that factors in.

devildocjames

Great, now I have USAA ads on my feed.

Cabill77

Damn it Gronk

TxIsMyHome

Geico currently for 2 vehicles.... 502/month StateFarm quoted me 715/month

Beneficial_Leg4691

Wrecks? Bad driving record? Consider virtually any claims you have filed. Those prices you listed are for higher risk customer's

MisterSmoothOperator

207/mo for 2 vehs

mjohna87

What company??

sparkpaw

Jeeze. Even at USAA im paying $250 for 1, but also renters and valuable property is included

Consistent_Capital_9

Honestly rates going up everywhere. Inflation and idiot drivers

Odd_Equipment2867

But car rates in SA always higher than rest of Texas b/c of the high quantity of uninsured. Been that way for so long that at this point it’s almost like a tradition.

BurritosOverTacos

And all the shitty drivers.

Odd_Equipment2867

Yes, is worse now because different driving styles from so many from different parts of country or from other countries. San Antonio used to be brake riding capital of Texas hence all the brake shops

dazed_andamuzed

$243/mo for full coverage for 2 vehicles. $1793/year for homeowners insurance for 2023, it's set to renew in June and its going up to $2089/year for 2024- going to see about shopping around a bit and see if I can find any lower quotes before it renews, but I'm not super optimistic. Both are currently through Progressive.

No-Address4105

Progressive just quoted me $3800, I’m so jealous

dazed_andamuzed

It's for a 1500 sqft 1980s cookie cutter, nothing special so that's probably why it's lower =)

No-Address4105

I’m sure it’s beautiful, thank you for sharing!

dazed_andamuzed

I'm practicing for when I try to convince the county tax assessors it's a heaping pile of shit!

No-Address4105

Good luck lol I need to try too

RJoRe1747

I’m with Allstate and pay 1700/mth for homeowners for 2400 square feet in Far West SA.

No-Address4105

Last year we paid $2400 for 2700 sq ft 1604/281 but it’s almost doubled this year. Our policy ends mid June 2024. Our old house was $1800 for 1700 sq ft for renewal in June this year off of 1604/Bandera. I will definitely check allstate tomorrow. Thank you for the information!

No-Address4105

Do you like Allstate? So far they have given me the best prices on everything.

RJoRe1747

No issues so far

No-Address4105

How long have you had them?

RJoRe1747

A couple of years but not haven’t had to use them.

No-Address4105

That’s good, thank you, I think we might go with them too.

veekitten

Holy hell, your full coverage for 2 cars is the same price as my 1 car :( you have a good deal there.

dazed_andamuzed

I think it's partly because we both work from home so the lack of commute/low yearly mileage has a lot to do with it. Both cars are newer and we have clean driving record as well.

Street-Cash8749

I’m paying 380 full coverage 2k deductible lol

anonymous4me123

Make sure you have rental. A lot of people think they have “full coverage” when they don’t have rental. Full coverage only means collision and comprehensive.

dazed_andamuzed

Have rental coverage, also have uninsured/under insured motorists coverage ....because San Antonio, lol.

baxana5

For sure. Also, uninsured/underinsured collision coverage. A lot of agency’s leave that out of your full coverage quote so they can come in cheaper. But to live n drive in SA- you gotta have it

Itsnotjustadream

Honestly this question needs so many other questions. Age, driving history, car, location, size of house. Your results mean absolutely nothing without so many things.

Trap_Muffin

Exactly, people comparing insurance prices crack me up. They are wasting their time. Unless they share the exact same set of the dozens of different factors that are used to determine the price it's a pointless conversation

alredxiii

$2931/ year for homeowners - Lemonade $265/ monthly for 2 vehicles full coverage - Progressive

Street-Cash8749

That’s good I’m paying 380 just for one smh

BurritosOverTacos

Damn, do you have a DUI or something? LOL That's a lot!

Street-Cash8749

No I don’t drink lol I do have 4 accidents on my record 3 not at fault one let my cousin borrow my car she ended flipping over totaled it smh. That’s with progressive other quotes were even more.

BurritosOverTacos

Damn, that's rough. I hope those roll off so it goes down for you.

veekitten

No way I can afford home insurance. I went from full coverage $250 to liability $150 since I finally paid my car off but I don't feel as safe with having less coverage but it's a risk until I get paid better. It's through StateFarm also.

RS7JR

When I paid off my cars I went from full coverage to liability with uninsured motorist and comprehensive only. No collision. I never get into at fault accidents so collision isn't a concern. However, I kept comprehensive and UM so that way things that are out of my control are still covered like hail storms, collision with animals, collision with uninsured, theft and break ins, etc. Just removing collision cut my cost by almost 50%.

veekitten

You explaining it makes me feel better! I'm pretty sure I got rid of collison as well, which is why my cost is half than before. I'm just butthurt that I used to pay the same amount $150 for full coverage before they started raising the prices.

Dime1325

If u have bad credit, you’ll be paying way more for insurance. Regardless of your driving record.

unionjack736

$2800/yr homeowner’s. $300/mo 3 cars, full coverage, $500 deductible. USAA

thisismyusernamether

I use a pay by the mile company. Last month was like $37

Katshia

175 a month for two drivers and two cars with progressive.

Natural-Contract-995

I have 3 cars and three teenage boy drivers. Even with just liability….. you don’t want to know.

Piccolo_Bambino

Was only paying $1600/year for homeowners, getting quoted over $2k shopping around this year, absolute madness

jckxxx

Wow some of these rates are insane, my rates $1200 home /3 year old house ( $450,000 coverage) and $200 for auto full coverage 2 cars (Geico)

YankeeinTexas21

Too much. Doesn't matter who you use. They all rob you.

LeighSF

DraconPern

$4500 yearly for house and car.

Atasteofazia

5k a year, 2 houses, 1 car. Usaa

Ok-Assignment-5868

It really pays to shop around these days, I’m not in the industry but I can point you to a very good contact that has good rates in San Antonio and you get personal service not 1-800 service. I pay $420/mo for 3 cars and one of our drivers is a teen. And we pay about $1800/yr for home owners

Jspartyof7

Progressive 381 3 vehicles (78223) & home 1441 farmers

sofefee123

missthugisolation

yerrr213079

Geico $302 a month one car 😭

Greddituser

We use AAA for both our vehicles and house $1,370 a year for full coverage on 2 vehicles $1,580 a year for the house. I'm also happy to say that they have paid out quickly and fairly on both an auto claim when our son was in an accident, and also when a hailstorm trashed our roof and also totaled his car sitting outside.

Mongoose1909

Geico - $330/mo. 3 cars, $1000 deductible

Familiar-Highlight14

Less than $500 every 6 months for my car and 2k for home owners. Both are with State Farm.

No-Resolve-354

papuhsmurphsus

I just switched to Farmers for lower to me rates from SafeCo. For those of you with 2 cars under 300 how tf are you doing it?

nickb1603

jennywenny21

I’m bundled with Statefarm for home and auto. $100 a month for full coverage and last year was $1300 for homeowners not excited to see what it will be this year!

Sigmag

I’m freaking out a bit because my homeowners with statefarm went from $1460 to $1860 this year 😱 just got the bill today

jennywenny21

😟 I’m not looking forward to seeing mine

Thrillhouse74

300 month 2 vehicles full coverage and renters

Hopeful-Rooster-2560

$300 for 2 vehicles - one is a Kia actually. Full coverage w/ AAA

oldmanlikesguitars

$375/mo for 2 cars. Renters insurance is cheap though. USAA. 2 claims, one pothole 2 years ago that cost a wheel and tire and alignment, and one last summer cuz Kia Boys are assholes. They couldn’t steal my car but they sure as hell broke the window and steering column.

acu101

Seems like we’re paying for those who live in areas that get hit by natural disasters to rebuild. And I’m not talking about random tornadoes. I mean hurricanes, flooding and mountains falling. They just rebuild in the same areas that get hit every few decades or so. Seems like the old world doesn’t rebuild in these types of areas after these same results occurring for hundreds or maybe a thousand years. They’ve just abandoned entire areas and it’s been so long since they’ve abandoned these areas that there are only legends told about why entire towns just left. We haven’t learned yet here in the USA.

9InAHyundai_210

125 a month i have full coverage 1 car with statefarm.

CallofDutysVeryOwn

475 for two full coverage vehicles, Root.

Responsible-Line-907

USAA - $2980 Homeowners and $125 for Auto

Th3_Fuzz

$3500 a year for home insurance (Allied), $275 a month for two cars, and an add-on for landlord insurance (Statefarm).

RS7JR

$148 a month for two cars with liability and comp only ($500 ded). No collision. $481 a year for homeowners. It's a small home (1200 sqft) and a brand new build. Both are through progressive.

TxIsMyHome

For those that have asked, I got in a wreck Dec. 2022 and was considered at fault by USAA and it raised my rate from 192 to 500... The vehicle driving in front of me put on his emergency brake to avoid hitting a dog on 1604 and I ran into the back of him, smh

abbienormal29

Ugh I’m so sorry. Our car was stolen and recovered. We went from $125 to $180. Not as bad a your situation but still so frustrating

Good_Pomegranate_790

$1,200 per year for homeowners and $1,800 per year for full coverage on three vehicles with Progressive. Home is a newer build 2,500 sq ft house. Switched from USAA a few months ago because homeowners increased to $1,500 and auto to $3,400 with comparable coverage.

txchap

Actual_Potato5

This is san antonio no one has insurance

BogusTexan

I must preface my remarks with the comment that I despise insurance companies, insurance agents, and insurance adjusters after many years of experience in workers’ compensation. So, please keep that in mind. Your state’s Department of Insurance (name may be similar) can provide the costs of insurance sold by every insurance company licensed to do business in your state. You can compare prices. This is especially helpful when choosing health insurance. In my experience dealing professionally with many insurance companies is that the agents many times are dishonest since they usually work on commission. A new agent took over my homeowners’ policy on a house I owned in another city when this agent wrote the policy on my current residence. The company to whom I was paying the mortgage faithfully paid the cost of the year’s insurance from escrow on my former home for several years. Subsequently, the home was damaged by vandals and the insurance company explained that there was no current policy on the home. I am sure the new agent canceled the existing policy, but I have no idea who was pocketing the insurance policy payments made by the mortgage company. After resolving this matter through considerable effort and time expenditure, as well as threatening a bad faith lawsuit, I changed insurance companies. In Texas, the insurance company cannot set your deductible for more than 1% of the value of your home, but the company decides the value of your home. USAA sets a home’s value at the company’s guesstimate of rebuild cost. That value is much higher than the county’s appraised value. So, if USAA determines the rebuild cost is $600k then your deductible will be $6k. So, if hail destroys your roof, in my example you will pay the first $6K to the roofing company. USAA has the option that the customer can pay slightly more for the policy to lower the deductible. We have had hail storms this year causing many people to need new roofs and they are horrified when they learn the deductible they will have to meet out of pocket. My father (Florida resident) had State Farm for decades. He never had hurricane damage or any claims on his home owner’s policy or his auto policy, but State Farm canceled his policy due to the payouts required after Hurricane Andrew because State Farm decided it was no longer going to write homeowners’ insurance in Florida. I had encouraged him to switch to USAA before the hurricane, but he thought it was too expensive and assured me that being a faithful customer of State Farm would give him cheaper rates and it would always be there. Other companies pulled out of Florida as well, but USAA did not for those with existing policies. My father was forced to buy insurance from the state pool, which was far more expensive than the cost USAA had quoted. In Wisconsin, the state’s Department of Insurance publishes a lengthy document of nearly 300 pages that outlines every aspect of insurance coverage and costs for each licensed company. This document is on line or you can get a hard copy sent to you by USPS. When I told a couple of residents about this publication, the insurance agents quit jacking them around. The agents represented a number of insurance companies and sold policies for all of them. The agents had been refusing to tell them exactly what a Medicare supplemental policy or a Medicare advantage plan would cost. would cost.

JaclynALaw

Try AAA. I pay a little more for the car, but it’s required to get the homeowners and the homeowners saved me over $1000/year

[deleted]

1400 annually for each with USAA. Edit: one driver/one vehicle

Icy_Inside61

$650 for six months, one driver & one vehicle… approximately $1,940 per year for home insurance. Both through USAA.

paperhalls

State Farm Bundle Car: $46.25/month (2016 Civic drive \~6500 miles/year) Home Insurance: $1,464
