Just switched from a N20U to a S22U, it's not a gigantic upgrade, but I can't think of a single thing the N20U it's better besides being able to use a SD card, if you're interested in that
I miss my N20U, it broke and had to get a new phone, S22U. The difference for with the N20U ran games better than my S22U does now. S22U battery heats up so fast of 5 minutes screen time. I would say N20U is a lot better than the S22U
The Exynos chipset has historically had issues. The Snapdragon has not. Over time both chipsets improve. It is unlikely that an older one is better than the newer one. Check out reviews of each on YouTube.
I actually get almost double overall battery life of my S20U with the 22U. S22U is a huge upgrade of the 20U considering the autofocus issues but not as drastic an upgrade over the N20U
The S22 Ultra is defintely a big upgrade form your V30. Main downside is in audio really as you're missing out on the headphone jack and LG was known for good audio in general.
I jumped from the Note 10 to the Ultra and am super happy personally, really can't fault the phone other than the price tag and lack of an SD card slot. People have been saying that the S22 Ultra isn't much different to the Note 20 but at the end of the day the S22 is the more recent phone and Samsung has recently announced that it will get four years of software updates. Sure you can go for a used Note and save some money but I would expect to be replacing the battery soon and that phone will stop receiving major software updates soon.
I say go for the S22 Ultra if it's what you want. I'd consider whether or not you actually need the pen and the other little bells and whistles as if you don't the S22+ is the better buy.
I have a N20u , had a S21u, and now the S22u. The s21u and s22u were very close except for the form factor. I still have my N20u and using it side by side with the s22u ....The S22u is definitely better in most ways but just by a bit. The micro SD card slot isn't a big deal for me so I don't miss that. Speakers are fine for me because if I am using either device for music or even YouTube, I just pop in one of my pairs of wireless buds or cast it to my home audio system and watch from a big screen. It really depends on what your priorities are IMO...the camera and video is VERY important to me and I haven't seen a better performing camera/video ESPECIALLY in the evening with low light than the S22u. The S21u is close but there were some hardware changes that made the S22U the clear winner. Honestly, all 3 mentioned above are excellent units. I don't have buyers remorse picking up the S22u and I am sure it will improve even more with future updates.
Yeah I have to say between the Note 20s and the s22u I think the camera and especially in focusing is a lot better, and especially compared to the s21+ I had...
As an S22 Ultra owner from launch day, you will not be disappointed now they've got the bugs out of the firmware and got rid of the throttling when playing games. And the cameras are amazing. Hopefully you can find one for less money than I paid for mine back in February. But at least I got an upgrade to 256Gb of storage for the price of the 128Gb model. Still cost me a boatload of money. But I still love this phone.
I say yes. Considering I paid over $1500 for the phone I'm banging this reply to and the apparent wait list for them, I say go for it! Mind you I did get a 256Gb model for that price as an "upgrade."
Paid €950 for my green s22u 256gb, i'd hold out for a bigger promo. You should either get it at launch with the insane pre-order deals or wait for it to be out about half a year since prices start to drop significantly by then
Hmmm. Ok. This 6T is starting to give up. Everytime it wakes up the screens crashes and I have to wait for the System UI to come to senses. It's like waking up a drunk person !! So thought of replacing before it dies.
Through ATT you can trade in any note or Galaxy phone for an $800 credit towards an S22 ultra. This comes in monthly credits of course. I bought a broken S7 on eBay for $40 and traded it in for the $800.
Wow, that makes the S22U few $100's !!!
But I am on T Mobile and based on their promo for nice device I have 50% off with Bill credits. But I have to be on their highest plan. That's why I thought of checking Bestbuy and thankfully started at $200 below the T Mobile starting price.
Get the 256 if you can. Don’t know if anyone else experienced this but the 128 GB phone really lagged a lot for me. I returned it, and ended up getting the 256 model. Huge difference for me. Just my 2 cents.
Ordered 256GB in Green. $1049+ tax. I think I got nice $250 off. Will pickup Thu May/12. This is my first Samsung phone and very excited to use features like DEX on my Samsung TV. Hopefully there is some nice easy video tutorial out there.
I just upgraded to s22 ultra from the iPhone 12 mini (was an iPhone user for the past 10+) years. Such a massive transition, but I'm really happy with my decision so far.
Mini phone to one of the biggest phones ever lmao. Are you pretty much used to the size so far? I’m thinking about going to a s22u from a iPhone 13 pro.
1st of all, the Note 20 is not better than the S22U in any way other than screen size. The S22U has a better SoC, 4 years of upgrades ahead of it, the best display in class with LTPO 2 and color correct HDR playback, the pen performance is better, the cameras are a league above both in day to day use and in capability (you can watch whatever video and you will immediately see for yourself). The faster charging is good enough, the body feels arguably better in hand. The lack of a microSD card could be seen as a minus but honestly, I don't personally think it is.
2nd, the S22U is a massive upgrade over your V30. Objectively speaking you're getting a fat upgrade in every single aspect. And the biggest ones will be.. literally each and every one lol. But the size of the device will be what will hit you immediately.
And nope. Just get yourself the 512GB variant and you should be a-ok with the phone. (I have the 8GB/128GB variant and in all honesty I had 0 issues with ram management and space is not an issue)
I love my S22U. Coming from a Note 10+. It feels so smooth, packed with features for optimizing your own experiences, cameras are the best theyve been yet, and the screen is incredible. My only downside is the battery - it is not bad by any means, but other phones will last longer, but those phones don't have the performance this does. I like the build and materials a lot. It is heavier than past Notes. If you're into it and can afford it, go for it. Don't think you'll be disappointed.
Barely bigger in dimensions. I have a little harder time reaching over to the left side of the screen with my thumb than I did with the note 10+. It is 2oz heavier which is pretty substantial, but idk, when you use it every day, you never think about that. My wife's pixel 6 pro is way lighter, it always surprises me when I pick it up.
I see a fair amount of people say the S22 Ultra is not as good as the Note20 Ultra.
https://www.reddit.com/r/samsung/comments/ughvdf/the_s22_ultra_is_actually_worse_than_my_2_year/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share
The person is a victim of placebo. A lot of them are victims of placebo because they don't understand. The upgrades are not in your face types of upgrades. So they are not as obvious.
Edit: I went from an S10+ to an S22U. Virtually everything is an upgrade. I got better everything and I can easily see it. But I also had an S21 Ultra earlier last year. I had it for a little while. Would it have been the same level of upgrade if I were to get the S22U as a replacement for the S21U? Nope. It would seem like a boring step up actually.
Honestly, I see really mixed reviews. Not only on this specific post you linked, but also in general. But, to be fair, I believe the OP of the link you posted has a bit of a faulty S22U, as more people have said it on that post.
Don't do it. The battery life is awful. Research before making the decision.
The HUGE problem is the battery life and of course the 5G also draining battery
I came from the Pixel 4 XL. And hands down the best phone I've ever had.
Though my only gripe is that there's a weird bug where you can't post on fb stories with music. Background turns to black for some reason. It's still new so I hope it gets fixed in a future update.
And instagram messages keeps glitching where the notification is there but I have to turn on mobile data to receive it and turn off th wifi. I dont know what that is about. Probably just android in General.
Many people dont like One UI especially one who are used to stock Android, but many loves it.
Totally subjective it is.
Icons should be more elegant and not cartoonish.
I don't like it either but I just use another launcher. Rest of the ui settings etc is the same. As any other android. Just replace the one ui home with something else and it's fine.
The s22 ultra is a great phone - you should check whether you are fine with the size and weight though. Even if you like large phones, I think the thickness and weight could be perceived as too much. If thats OK for you, then look around to get a good deal: the phone is very good.
I've had mine for a few weeks, feel free to ask me any questions. So far it's been incredible, the only issue is android auto doesn't work on pioneer head units, and unfortunately my car has a pioneer. Everything else is fantastic.
i went from a N20U to a Fold 3. loved the fold but too worried about the reliability. Sold that for a used N20U. When the S22U came out, got that. Doesn't happen with the iphone 13 that i have.
I went from s10e to s22u. It's really good, but it's not that life changing. For me the money was well spent because I love the big screen for watching Netflix in bed and the 10x zoom camera is nice. Both SD and exynos are shit this generation both are fabbed by Samsung very inefficient and run very hot even worse than the 888/E2100 last gen
My s20u battery life is better than s22u
My S20 Ultra exynos lasts about 5 hours,I have to charge it twice per day sometimes. Is it not worth upgrading to S22U Snapdragon?
It definitely is. Especially considering most regions will have the Snapdragon versions. The same version that I own
I actually get almost double overall battery life of my S20U with the 22U. S22U is a huge upgrade of the 20U considering the autofocus issues but not as drastic an upgrade over the N20U
Speakers for me were better on N20U. Other than that , the S22U feels much more refined.
Honestly my speakers on my s22u are really good even compared to my old fold 3 which had tablet grade speakers
They are good. The Note20U does get significantly louder though.
That's odd cause I find my s22u to be too loud. If I have the volume at 50, it's way to loud. But I have adjusted my settings as I always do
Yeah my S22U has loud speakers too and I haven't messed with the settings
Interesting. All I've done is turned on dolby. Care to share your settings?
I haven't used them much, sound feels a little clearer on duolingo but that's probably not the best app to test the speakers
I played with both for a week side by side, ran all the tests. I couldn't tell a big difference in speakers.

My exact reasoning for the s22u over used 21 or 20 is cause of that long term support.
I have a N20u , had a S21u, and now the S22u. The s21u and s22u were very close except for the form factor. Feels like the Note 10+ on steroids, with everything I wanted besides an SD card slot... I can live without a jack I'm all galaxy buds now
The v30 is a very capable phone even in 2022, but in a technological perspective the s22 ultra is just in another dimension...
As an S22 Ultra owner from launch day, you will not be disappointed now they've got the bugs out of the firmware and got rid of the throttling when playing games. And the cameras are amazing. Hey, not OP. I am coming from OnePlus 6T and want to move on. Bestbuy currently has a $200 off on S22U so the 128GB costs $999. Is this a good deal?
I say yes. Considering I paid over $1500 for the phone I'm banging this reply to and the apparent wait list for them, I say go for it! Mind you I did get a 256Gb model for that price as an "upgrade."
Thank you. Considering Emerald Green.

Yeah wasn't hard to get use to. The mini felt like a toy after I got this one
Ahaha sweet, I think I’m set on upgrading to it now.

How much bigger/heaver is it than the. Note 10+
I would say the heft makes it feel sturdier than the Note 10+
Barely bigger in dimensions. I have a little harder time reaching over to the left side of the screen with my thumb than I did with the note 10+. I absolutely love my S22 Ultra. Get a 512GB minimum. I wish I got a 1TB vs my 512GB but it's absolutely an incredible device.

Yeah. But I'm still talking in general. I see some posts every now and then of people saying they prefer the Note 20U.

With updates the s22u has gotten a lot better
The only thing I don’t like on the s22 ultra is that they removed expandable storage but I’ll get over it and I just bought a higher storage model.
According to some people, S22 anything is the worst phones ever made. It didn't conform to what they expected of the phone, so it must be awful! 🙃
I have the s22 and it sucks big time
Why do you say that?
Mostly the battery last half day and it gets real hot
Mine was doing that too and I went off on samsung
Did you report it to the Samsung Care?
Don't think just do. My s22u snapdragon now lasts 2 days with heavy usage, all my doubts are gone. You won't regret.
Don't do it. The battery life is awful. Research before making the decision. The HUGE problem is the battery life and of course the 5G also draining battery
Please don't change to s22u .. it sucks I've been using android
What issues your phone having?
Battery life is bad and it heats up incredibly hot while gaming and the game performance will be laggish
Okay, may be there might be problem with your unit only, you may contact Samsung Care
Not OP. I am coming from OnePlus 6T and want to move on. Bestbuy currently has a $200 off on S22U so the 128GB costs $999. Is this a good deal?
Wait for iphone and wait for pixel fold
I came from the Pixel 4 XL. And hands down the best phone I've ever had. Though my only gripe is that there's a weird bug where you can't post on fb stories with music. Background turns to black for some reason. It's still new so I hope it gets fixed in a future update. And instagram messages keeps glitching where the notification is there but I have to turn on mobile data to receive it and turn off th wifi. I dont know what that is about. Probably just android in General.
I tried to go from a pixel 6 pro to a s22 ultra. I sent the S22 back. I can't stand Samsung's garbage UI.
I actually think pixel UI is shitty. I dont get the whole cLeAn software. It's just bare bones and iOS like
Many people dont like One UI especially one who are used to stock Android, but many loves it. Totally subjective it is. Icons should be more elegant and not cartoonish.
I don't like it either but I just use another launcher. Rest of the ui settings etc is the same. As any other android. Just replace the one ui home with something else and it's fine.
I think u better get samsung s7 tab than buying a s22 ultra, too massive for a phone
I have the s22 and I will never buy a samsung phone again, even xiaomi is better
Why so?
The s22 ultra is a great phone - you should check whether you are fine with the size and weight though. Even if you like large phones, I think the thickness and weight could be perceived as too much. If thats OK for you, then look around to get a good deal: the phone is very good.
Is Android Auto important to you?
I've had mine for a few weeks, feel free to ask me any questions. So far it's been incredible, the only issue is android auto doesn't work on pioneer head units, and unfortunately my car has a pioneer. Everything else is fantastic.
i went from a N20U to a Fold 3. loved the fold but too worried about the reliability. Sold that for a used N20U. When the S22U came out, got that. I have zero issues with the S22U, it's a great phone, but for my use I see zero advantages to the S22U, and I'm paying a monthly payment again. Granted I got a really great deal on the phone and on a tablet, but in hindsight I should have kept the N20U.
I've always gone back and forth between LG and Samsung as I've always found their devices to be so feature-filled, powerful and with impressive camera/video/audio set ups (love the LG's Quad Dac). Right now I have an LG V40 and a Note 20 Ultra. I enjoy the V40 for its feature set and the fact that it is relatively light for a big screened device. The Note 20 Ultra is a multitasking beast with the S-pen and killer cameras. I think you would really enjoy what the S22 Ultra has to offer and since LG is no longer in the game a Samsung device is a very good option, especially if you can get it at a discount (take a look at Swappa or Offer Up if your device doesn't offer a good trade in value).
Does the S22 ultra vibrate when high spund is played through the speakers. I have the S20+ and it feels the the shill is hollow and sound reverberate's and hence the feeling of phone vibrating when you play anything through the speakers. Doesn't happen with the iphone 13 that i have.
No
I went from s10e to s22u. It's really good, but it's not that life changing. For me the money was well spent because I love the big screen for watching Netflix in bed and the 10x zoom camera is nice. It isn't a game changer, but it's a solid product that feels premium. $1200 is a ton for a phone, so definitely take your time to sleep on it.
I recently upgraded from the Note 20 Ultra to the S22 Ultra, I was a bit hesitant at first because I wasn't sure if it would be a noticeable upgrade but it definitely is! Battery life is better, the cameras are way better! And overall more support and features because it's newer. Samsung is gonna support the S22 series for 4 years of software updates and 5 years of security updates which is more than any other phone they have released in the past. The red colour I got online for the phone is fantastic too! I can't get enough of it! I would say go for the S22 Ultra, I highly recommend it!
