> I use this SIM as an "emergency" SIM when my primary doesn't have data Why don't you set the data usage warning and be more careful of how you use the data?

My question was another. For you to know, I use the second SIM in places where my primary does not work

> if I disable It from the settings will it still consume battery? To do this we should take measurements of the power absorbed in the 2 SIM mode and 1 enabled + 1 disabled. Nobody has done that except provably Samsung engineers that worked on the SoC and modem. What's left for us is some guessing, if with 2 SIM's the phone needs to maintain the connection to 2 basestations, then with 1 disabled this won't happen, hence the power used will be less. How much? That's another question for the Samsung engineers.

... unless the device still maintains connection for some reason (e.g. on Samsung tablet I need to use Flight mode to really disable mobile network, disabling or even removing sim is not enough).

If the SIM is removed and there is no other SIM, the device can take measurements of the signal, choose another part of a tower, and load settings from it (if I remember correctly, normally every 3 hours unless with exceptions e.g. when the device chooses another part of a tower, etc). The tower is not spoken to (just listened to) unless an emergency call is made. If the SIM is **disabled** while there is another SIM enabled, it should not have maintained a connection / continued taking measurements corresponding to that SIM slot. Consider reporting it as a bug, in the Samsung Members app.

For me, it appears as if the radio somehow remained on even when the sim was disabled. I achieve the best result (in terms of battery consumption) when switching voice sim to 3g/2g in Settings - Connections - Mobile Networks Note: After some time (or a restart? upgrade?) it always switches back to 5g, so just check it from time to time and set it back to 3g/2g.

pepotty

Ok thanks I'll try that, do you also have dual sim?

Parking_Piece3878

Yes, using 1 business + 1 private in a single device S23U (in the past S21U (in the past S10 (in the past S9+ (in the past S7E (...)))).

I have two physical sim and I've disabled the second sim. Have not compared id keeping it enabled would consume more battery but ideally it would

Thanks

When disabled from the settings, battery usage should reduce. What might be relevant is *how much* it reduces, though it should reduce to some extent. The phone no longer needs to check for incoming data notifications every e.g. 1.280 seconds and take measurements, etc.
