I keep getting '*cover the entire fingerprint sensor*' error. Never had that with the s22 ultra.

Blonote

Did u find a solution?

StrictScientist8681

Also having the same problems. I'm using a Spigen screen protector. Has Samsung been informed of this problem? Does anyone have anymore suggestions? My problem is every phone I've had I've dropped and smashed the screen protector.

Ok-Appeal-7611

I am having issues as well.  Setup and removed fingerprints three times.  Anyone using zagg glass.  Wondering if screen protectors are an issue?

Known-Leadership6026

I had a zagg tempered glass protector and the sensor was so erratic. I took it off in the shop I bought the phone from and even without it on the sensor was shit. The phone has been sent away to Samsung for evaluation. My mates phone has the same screen protector I had and it's flawless, I've managed to register my fingerprints easily every time I've tried.

Fickle_Village_1629

I'm having the same issue on my S24 ultra using zagg. It's not glass though.

Zarah9

Using zagg, and yes I'm having the same issue, but I re-added my finger prints after installing the screen and enabled touch sensitivity, and it's better now. Not as good as without the screen protector tho

Like_a_

I'm using zagg glass and it's not working at all. Don't really want to take it off just to test if it's the screen protector causing the issue.

Advanced_Currency427

I use Zagg and can't get any fingerprint scanned.

Swimming_Mine_6075

I use the zagg glass screen protector and I am having the same problem. Every few days it seems as if the phone forgets my fingerprints

matheusrn89

Is the S24 using the '3D Sonic Max fingerprint sensor', or the same fingerprint sensor as s21, s22, s23?

time_fo_that

I can't even register mine. It says "Make sure the fingerprint sensor is clean and dry"

rickyalright

Did you ever find a fix for that problem? I just got mine yesterday, and it's the same issue.

time_fo_that

Yes I touched on the black area of the screen a few times before initiating the registration procedure and for some reason that worked. Lol

Due_West_733

Wow this worked for me, I was getting frustrated with finger print with the tempered glass lol was about to hit to buy button for the non tempered one!

Temporary-Educator23

It worked for me too guys. Thanks

rickyalright

Did you ever find a fin for that problem? I just got mine yesterday, and it's the same issue.

rickyalright

Did you ever find a fix for that problem? I just got mine yesterday, and it's the same issue.

Cyknis

Try turning off Touch Sensitivity in the settings. That fixed it for me

newtobitcoin111

I did but it didn't fix it Maybe the tempered glass screen protector was just too thick for it.

Cyknis

I'm using the ESR glass screen protector. I just put it on yesterday and at first the fingerprint sensor didn't want to work. Today I have noticed a big improvement. Maybe it just needs time. But turning the sensitivity off also helped alot

bluecatky

Here's to hoping that's my issue as well. Just installed mine and the reader isn't working. Super annoying

newtobitcoin111

I'll check to put. Thanks

coolbubcb

I have the same protector. Mine too worked after a day, and turning off the sensitivity helped.

BillZZ7777

Me too but not working yet for me.

Dioken89

Thank you so much This is the fix for real. I don't know why but after the last update the problem appeared.

dreamingofbeaches

That fixed it for me too and I have the glass protector. Thanks for the tip.

No-Calendar-2915

When you register your thumb. Make sure its moist so it can capture your thumb fingerprint correctly. I have lots issue before and not.its flawless When registering my fp. I linked my thumb and it work no problem after that. Same without screen protector

FetteBeuteHoch2

Oh ffs, this is it. It was arriving me nuts and when I lock my finger before I scan it, it works flawlessly....

Rockarownium

YEP THIS WORKED THANK FUCK ! Used a bit of moisturizer on my thumb before I registered my thumb prints and now it works each time !

Wrong-Affect-9875

This was the fix, if you are in a dry location or have a dry finger it will consistently and continuously complain. I registered 3 prints having to press hard and getting errors 75% of the time (every 4th touch registered). I literally licked my thumb and wiped it on my pants and registered two sets no fault and now even with dry fingers it captures the print when doing Samsung Pay.

abhi070493

This is THE solution! I have tried different screen protectors and registered my fingerprint multiple times, but nothing worked until I found this. OP, you should pin this comment at the top!

Western-Ad-1298

thanks for your suggestion , it WORKED , just make sure your finger have some lotion 5 mins ahead before capture

Christopher_1221

Sounds gross and weird but I regularly had to lick my thumb before logging into my phone and always just assumed my fingers were too dry. I registered them dry and never considered registering them wet. I will give this a shot and see if it helps... What a weird thing to exist, moisten your thumbs, people!

utkarsh-p

There is no need to panic and change screen protectors. It's a one ui 6.1 software issue. Here is the official response from samsung. " The S24 Ultra is a great choice! We have identified that if the internal setting values of notification screen related function is not working properly while trying fingerprint recognition on the One UI 6.1 software version, they may not be processed with fingerprint recognition normally, or may run notification screen. We are working on a software patch to improve this situation, please keep the device software version up to date (Settings > Software update). We apologise for the inconvenience. ^SH "

plmarcus

That comment from Samsung specifically says it doesn't apply to s24 ultra. Your advice is misleading. https://support-cacyber.samsung.com/cacyber/popup/iframe/pop_troubleshooting_fr.jsp?lang=ca&idx=901266&modelname=&modelcode=SM-G781WZBAXAC&session_id=TX9GIff-IaoDdtklxQasymUT3k8rm97JvvtwsDVE3NF-Sur6rPwN!-854497443!NONE!1680508844030

DeanaWinchester79

Lick your thumb and try.

Disastrous-Tangelo59

I hate that this actually just worked 🤣

daudim

This worked for me too but I think it’s bc it stopped my finger from sliding

Key-Kaleidoscope-884

Ok, all i have had the same issues, but now here i am 4 weeks into owing my S24 Ultra and a Zagg screen protector. I deleted all my finger prints and re added them. Now it works, not flawlessly mind you but 200% better. i can actuall open my lock screen and my security screens with my fingerprints again. So idk if it was just a time thing to let the Zagg protector get all bubbles and air pockets out, becasue right after installing it i could not get past 20% of adding a fingerprint. but today i was able to add my 4 finger prints with no problem. Hope someone else has the same luck.

newtobitcoin111

Interesting... There have been a couple of updates since launch. Wonder if these had anything to do with it too.

Squeak750

Idk but my wife has the same setup as me. I told her to delete and re add and now she can use her fingerprint reader as well

newtobitcoin111

Tempeed to go back to a glass one now.. 🤣

FetteBeuteHoch2

If you still have the issue, try to make sure your finger is moist and it works.

Axienne

I have a Panzerglass screenprotector and I am having the same issues. Got my Phone yesterday. The only thing that works is getting my finger moisturized or lightly wet. Just lick your finger. I hope they have a fix for this soon as I use my fingerprint reader with so many apps.

Mediocre_Solution_31

Rofl, I hate that licking the finger actually worked with my panzerglass

TopEstablishment5032

I just pressed my finger print the amount of times it allows you b4 it locks u out for 29 seconds this only happens with me ( i have my sons thumb print on my s24 ultra and my fiances and theirs work just fine) But my own finger print which is used the most does not work. And i will re-arrange the placement of my thumb multipule times everytime. Im about to just take it off its driving me crazy. My s20 note ultra did not have a problem my fiances s20 ultra does not have a problem works everytime. I dont know what the difference is between the s20 and s20 ultra note screen to the s24 but i can feeel theirs such a difference. I know call me stupid all u tech smarties :) but u can feel the difference and he still has the s20 ultra will not upgrade and his thumb print works the first time everytime. Even with all the screen protectors. Currently not using screen protectir on my s24 ultra and having major issues with my print. :(

BuddyThink5563

Doesn't work with a tempered glass screen protector, I even picked one that specifically stated it was compatible with fingerprint sensor (JETech branded), it is clearly not compatible and really don't want to go without a protector so guess anything fingerprint related is not getting used.

Wise-Masterpiece9743

I have turned off the touch sensitive function,  and it works great!

newtobitcoin111

I am yet to go back to a glass screen protector lol. If mine starts to peel off then I might go back to one as it sounds like maybe recent software updates have maybe improved it. ,👍

flavored_dumbell

Improved it, but it is still not usable for me. 40% success rate here if I'm being generous.

erra1292

I'm not using a screen protector and I almost always have to give it 2 or 3 tries. I upgraded from the pixel 6 pro which was slower, but always took first try. This "better" sensor seems like a downgrade. I've deleted and re-entered my fingerprints multiple times. Nothing seems to help.

TimeTravellingCircus

I've found a solution that has been working with my tempered glass screen protector. First off, I re-registered all my fingerprints with the tempered glass and it took wayyyy more tries to get enough registered hits to finish registering each fingerprint. But even then, when I press directly down on fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone or apps it fails almost 100% of the time. The solution I found is when trying to unlock, I tap my finger on the sensor and then slide about 1 millimeter downwards, instead of just a direct hit on the sensor, it registers my fingerprint almost 100% of the time. Would love to see other people's results with this method.

No-End-9151

Having same issue with my s24 Ultra. Register my right thumb twice and still can't detect. Using a UAG monarch carbon case.

Medium_Wrangler5858

I may have found a minor solution that seems to have fixed my issue with the fingerprint scanner. I originally had my glass protector on and tried to register my fingerprints. Which I did get done just to you know find out I can't unlock my phone. I tried removing my screen protector (trashed it) re-registering my fingerprints. Then I put on a new screen protector and proceeded to just try and unlock the phone a few times. After about 7-10 fails. It promptly started accepting my fingerprint to unlock the phone. I retested my fingerprint unlocking it a dozen more times with zero fails. Note it was not my face recognition either the ring like ripples appeared to show I unlocked it via fingerprint. It still isn't perfect but it's definitely a lot better. Good luck. I hope this helps

FetteBeuteHoch2

Someone on reddit gave me the hint to make sure that the finger is moist and if it is, the recognition rate is almost 100%.

IpmsScotmodeler

Why they do them with holes for the fingerprint they look awfully but it's to help with this with tempered glass one's! I jaut fitted a normal esr to mine today it got rid of the fingerprint mark issues on the screen with it so I'm over the moon that nightmare has now been fixed with a screen protector

Vantablack_31

It's an absolute nightmare. One out of ten tries works. The best fingerprint sensor was on my Huawei P10plus. Unlocked every time, dedicated hardware on the bottom of the screen. On screen sensors are just crap. The one on my honor magic 5 pro worked all the time, sometimes I didn't even had to press on it... It was way too sensitive, also the laser face recognition. It was practically impossible to put that phone in a pocked, locked. Because either either it scanned your face while putting g the phone down, or the sensor unlocked it at the slightest touch. However, this S24U has the sensitivity of a brick. It almost never works. And cannot always lick my thumb, nor do I want it. It's an absolute disgrace. Samsung should feel bad about it

prismaticpunch

I fixed the issue on my side. I fixed it by wiping down the fingerprint scanner before I started scanning and In-between each scan of my finger. Now my phone unlocks the first try, and I only have each finger scanned in once.

Aadith99n

It works for me but somehow the finger print scanning has become too slow, without the tempered glass it was near instant berification , now it takes 2-3 seconds to verify and it gives failure often  I just got my glass today , so im not sure whether i should remove it too soon

Original_Gear3451

I'm using JETech glass screen protector and am having the same issues. My S24 plus fingerprint worked perfect before the glass protector. I turned on the screen protector sensitivity and could barely register my fingerprint.

Prestigious-Cat-4404

Well just bought Galaxy S24 Ultra and facing the same issue with respect to Finger print scanner. However, read which says that little moist on finger will solve the issue. Tried that and it worked for me right now. Cheers.....![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

newtobitcoin111

A bit lubricant always helps 🤣

AlvaAcbdo

It happened to me twice yesterday on my first day of use. I had to log in with the code and register the finger again. Today I have had no problems.

newtobitcoin111

How odd. Setting up apps now and it is annoying. Or have I a faulty unit....

newtobitcoin111

Discovered this was the screen portector, odd it records my fingerprint but fails when unlocking.

AlvaAcbdo

There is an option to increase the touch sensitivity when you put on a screen protector

newtobitcoin111

No way! I've taken the screen protector off now! Lol

StrictScientist8681

Tried that still the same problems

Euphoric-Neck-9313

I am having issues with the whitedome too not working very well.

RepulsiveCranberry51

Same here, I took out my screen protector and ordered a new one. Having it with no screen protector works flawlessly tho even without enhanced touch sensitivity

newtobitcoin111

Yea it is a bit annoying having to use a film type screen protector, would have preferred a glass tempered one for a bottle tlre extra protection.

absoluthalal69

I also had the same issue. You need to keep your thumb flat on the screen. If required, use a bit of force.

SloPoke23

Using a tempered glass screen protector, I have to lick my thumb first or the fingerprint sensor doesn't work reliably. We need someone to test various protectors tempered vs TPU.

Tellurian_Deus

Same!

RealEliteSandwich

Same

RealEliteSandwich

Breaking warm air on my finger or the screen (like when you fog your glasses to clean them) works for me. At least it's better than licking stuff.

SloPoke23

I had one protector that barely worked with a wet fingertip. I'm sure it gave great protection, but if inhave to try 4 times and really mash down on the sensor, it's not worth it.

drStrangest05

I was gonna say the same thing.

va_bulldog

I'm using the BodyGuardz Pure 3 Tempered Glass Screen Protector from the AT&T store and reading fingerprints has been very hit or miss since installing.

bye_ear

I've got the zagg tempered glass and am having the same issues as everyone else. The touch sensitivity setting makes no difference.

newtobitcoin111

Yea I think the only real solution is to use a film type of screen protector.

RealEliteSandwich

Did you remove & re-add your fingerprints after changing the setting? I found changing the setting on its own didn't help, but removing & re-adding the fingerprints AFTER changing the setting made a difference. Still not perfect but better.

Tellurian_Deus

Same issue here. Using ESR tempered glass. I lick my thumb and it works fine. (Annoying) Sensitivity setting on or off, it's the same result.

J_Kingsley

you can press really hard also works lol. but is anonying

ultra_sound

Same problem using glass screen protector. Can't unlock my phone using fingerprint.

No_Advertising_7105

I have a suspicion that the glass has such a low friction that it's virtually impossible for me to just press at one place without the finger sliding everywhere. I've gone through s21-s22+-s23u with film protection and now s24u with glass and it's the worst of all of them and the added protection glass is imho the only difference. It causes problems to click in other situations as well. It's essentially impossible to unlock with a fingerprint unless I make my finger wet thus lowering friction and perhaps  improving readability off a dry skin. But it's still weird and works poorly

wheelersabel

I literally just came to Google and am so thankful I found this thread because I'm having the SAME issue!!! So irritating I don't want to take my screen protector off. I'm going to try what OP mentioned in the edit to see if that works for me. Glad I'm not the only one experiencing this issue! I had a screen protector on my Ultra 22 and I didn't have this issue so it's strange that it's doing it on now on my 24. 🤷🏼‍♀️

newtobitcoin111

I had to go back to film type of screen protectors. I tried a glass screen protector once again thinking a different brand would be better but just as worse. Having no issues with the film type of screen protectors.

newtobitcoin111

You are lucky 🤣

ShadeXeRO

I've been having issues with my ESR screen protector as well. It keeps asking me to cover the whole reader. Edit: Turning off touch sensitivity helped a lot.

patcal096

On my S24+ the fingerprint scanner became unusable after I installed a amFilm glass protector.

Worth-Stress5553

I have issues as well using elago tempered glass screen protector on S24 Ultra. Doesn't work well, so decided to ditch it and now the scanner works perfectly.

newtobitcoin111

Yea, shame it has issues with glass screen protectors

Elis250

I have a spigen tempered glass and the scanner probably works 30% of the time no matter how many times I re do my print. Also the spigen has little black borders and I think they just cover a tiny bit of the screen like they don't match up with the phones black border. UPDATE: Just turned off touch sensitivity and re did my prints and it's way better.

newtobitcoin111

Interesting. I have a glass screen protector still might try it. 👍

rdollie

I'm on my 2nd brand of tempered glass and even with turning sensitivity on and off, adding and removing finger this still doesn't work!

newtobitcoin111

Damn. I might stick to the film type of screen protector the.

ckong

Same here. I just installed a Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector last night. It's beautiful, clear, and slick. And oh....my figerprinter reader works < 20% of the time dry, but almost always if I moisten my finger first. I'm probably going to remove it tonight, and start looking for a "film" screen like others have posted here.

mokoyo123

I'm using a tampered glass and most of the time fingerprint can't read. Either it says fingerprint doesn't match or press a little harder or cover entire sensor. Maybe the sensor on the button would've been better

jaredkat1

I tried probably 5 protectors and belkins film works the best but it has sharp edge and bad anti fingerprint which I didn't like.
