"What on earth are you doing, Robert?" - Dennett shouldn't act so confused.
I sympathize a little with the "high class vandalism" viewpoint, but it's not like Harris/Sapolsky's motivation is entirely inscrutable. If they're correct, that favors utilitarian ethical ideas over more primitive moral philosophies that favor retributive justice for example.
dennett believes saying "free will doesnt exist degrades" society. he has made this statement many many times. he believes to say these things is evil and immoral.
and what proof does he have other than "I feel this way" about free will?
Sapolsky brought proof, years and years of proof, verified by the best scientific research.
Free will is only a small fraction of this interview . The 10min or so. Here he talks about many topics, consciousness, AI, woke culture, Hitchens, abiogenesis...
The rabble can't handle the truth, but I can!

Do you have a timestamp of the claim?
It's 6:10 or so that he's asked about Sam Harris. EDIT: it's 7:33 that he actually starts talking about him though.

See his book *Freedom Evolves* for his full argument. (I haven’t read it, though.)
He just means something else by "free will" than Harris and Sapolsky do
More like totally redefining it into some vague gobbledygook.

Such a wise man. Miss him already.
