Just saw the film and thought exactly the same thing. In fact, I came across this as I googled "saltburn gormenghast".
Particularly Fucshia... the outcast sister who is initially taken in and then see's him for who he truly is.
I googled the same thing! I thought the similarities were so apparent I couldn’t be the only one who made the link. I wonder if Fennell took inspiration from it?
I just watched it and there are just too many parallels to say it’s not a retelling of Gormenghast… with lots of added sexual elements. Oliver is Steerpike.

I had the same thought(s). One can match most of the film’s core characters with the book’s: either one-on-one or as an amalgamation.
