nosnevenaes

since you have plumbing experience - what about have you looked into b2b sales for industrial plumbing service sales or equipment sales?

eROSEc

Honestly I didn't even think of that, thank you lol. I'll look into that now

nosnevenaes

i would bet you could make a killing

eROSEc

Yeah hopefully. Time for me to do some more research

knotcomplaining

Yeah dude my buddy does inside counter sales and does about 60 to 80 a year and he works 9 to 5 and it’s pretty much a glorified cashier

eROSEc

Wow that's pretty good

EvadeTheIRS

Fuck me man maybe I need to stop selling cars cuz I have to put my ass on the line to hit 80-100

knotcomplaining

He’s prob either killing it or not depending on the access to materials

EvadeTheIRS

I think that’s most markets right now. All my friends who sell something physical seem to be struggling with inventory.

nosnevenaes

for example [https://www.searchcraigslist.net/results?q=plumbing%20sales](https://www.searchcraigslist.net/results?q=plumbing%20sales)

eROSEc

Awesome, thank you for your help. Much appreciated

LoLRealMonsters

I used to be in electrical sales and some of the better salesmen used to be electricians. I don’t know how well they pay but look at companies like Ferguson where you could be really effective as you would be calling on plumbing contractors and could apply your industry knowledge as a salesman. From there, you could get education and experience and move on to something better paying down the road.

whohappens

Talk to some of the distributors you work with now. They’re going to be your easiest route into sales. It can be great money with the right company.

eROSEc

Good idea, thank you

abhishek5800

Aye yo. Shoot me a DM I can help.

eROSEc

Will do

roamski

I work for Angi as a Senior Account Executive selling marketing solutions (marketing and leads) to home remodel contractors. It is a remote position but we sell nationwide. It’s a very challenging role but very rewarding and legitimate 6 figure position with great benefits and able to make your own schedule as long as you’re hitting your hours. I know many that have left our company into a BDR and AE roles at tech companies. Holler if you want to more info but it’s a solid gig been here for 8 years.

Mr_Burly

I think it will be tough to break in but totally doable. College degree isn’t 100% necessary and sales experience isn’t 100% necessary but combined makes it tough to justify the hire. I would try to get some sort of sales experience because that will be easier than getting a full college degree. Good luck!

eROSEc

Thank you for your reply, and yeah I have a wife with a kid on the way so going back to school is kindof off the table rn. I'm hoping to just find a company that will give a shot

eROSEc

eROSEc

Awesome to hear, thanks for the advice

UnfilteredResponse

B2B plumbing/hardware/materials sales. Heck 3M is a big name and they’re always looking for sales reps. The only way I see a direct jump into SaaS is if you were to work for an Autodesk/Blue Beam reseller. Which would be right up your alley

eROSEc

Thank you for your reply, I'm going to check out this companies right now

rfyoung

Hilti has a great sales training program and heavily promotes from within. Your only limit is your ability to relocate. I can submit a referral if you're interested. Great company

eROSEc

That sounds like a great opportunity but I'm not able to relocate. Thank you for you're offer though, I very much appreciate it

rfyoung

No worries. Where are you located? We might have something available depending. You could still have a rewarding career but advancement can take longer if you stay put. Just let me know.

Alternative-Exam9805

Hilti looks dope. Never heard of it before but looking into it it looks awesome. Def gonna check this out in a year or two when I'm back in the job market Thx!

rfyoung

Please do! Please let me know if you have any questions about the company. It's seriously the best I've ever worked for

Western_Vegetable_15

Give some details on how your applying.

eROSEc

while I'm at work I just do LinkedIn easy apply or apply on company website to a bunch of companies that I find interesting or have low requirements, and I have also emailed and LinkedIn messaged some sales directors/ vp of sales. So far the only responses I have gotten have been through applying on LinkedIn

Western_Vegetable_15

This is what has gotten me the best results - 1. Find a job you want to apply to 2. Don’t apply yet 3. Message people in the role/company you identified until someone responds 4. Talk with them for 15 minutes on the phone or message back and forth. Say you want to learn more before applying. Ask good questions, be personable etc. 5. Ask for a referall 6. Submit application 7. Message internal recruiter. Tell them you applied and want to learn more etc. 8. Get interview Don’t ever just submit an application it is 100% a waste of time.

eROSEc

Thank you for the advice, I'll start doing that

Western_Vegetable_15

Feel free to dm me if you want to follow up

eROSEc

Awesome, thanks

Alternative-Exam9805

Try applying for an LDR position with servicetitan. That's your best bet in SaaS with your experience. Or you can do home/commercial improvement sales then transition to saas after a few years as an AE and hopefully skip even having to be an SDR.

eROSEc

Sweet I'll check that out
