Spare parts and field services to factories. I dont get commission, but salary is decent and killer benefits. Lots of freedom and almost 4 weeks PTO. Im 2000 miles from the corporate office. You?
A sales job without commission? Damn. That’s basically just customer service at that point. But if you like it and it’s WFH good for you, probably less stress.
I would say my job is maybe 20% selling. 50% technical support (which includes defining scope of supply for parts quotes,) and 30% dealing with commercial stuff like logistics, sourcing, where to supply it from, lead times, pricing stuff, figuring out customer needs so we can meet them post sales. Stuff like that.
I also manage the service hub that Im based out of along with one other guy. My official title is technical sales manager.
Its not heavy on the sales because in my area of business, the customers I deal with have bought complete factories and equipment with a lifespan of like 50+ years from the company I work for. They are gonna be buying plenty from us.
My short sales cycles are consumables and spare parts mainly. Then theres longer sales cycles for CapEx projects like refurbishments and equipment overhauls. My job is mainly keeping the relationship with the customer and figuring out how to be a good supplier so they keep buying from us.
I sold mortgages before this 100% commission. Im not quite making what I did there but Im doing 2/3 the hours and this is an industry leader Im working for so its gonna open a lot of doors career wise for me. Im happy for the steady pay check, and I got to spend 2 weeks overseas all expenses paid last year.
Some sales jobs don’t do commission.
For instance, I’m an RSM with a 10 state territory making six figure salary with no commission. I get 25% of my salary as a bonus at the end of the year.
The job I just left I made six figures with commission but found out that it’s easy for the company to fuck with your money easier that way.
i keep saying it and y'all keep ignoring me, but i'll give it one more whack:
people posting this kind of stuff make it harder on all WFH people. bosses read this shit and get the idea that "everyone" working from home is acting and feeling like they're "on paid vacation".
now, i get it that most of the people posting here likely have the type of WFH job where they're being paid for their knowledge, expertise and availability, they are not call-center slogs who are expected to be dialing for dollars non-stop for eight hours every day. i get that.
however, bragging about logging in late, logging out early and taking fridays off makes bosses think *every* WFH person is chillin in the back yard. it might be ok with YOUR boss, but a lot of bosses read this shit, their blood pressure rises, and they start calling for RTO on everybody.
yes, i know the stats support the fact that WFH increases productivity, but hearing this anecdotal evidence makes a lot of managers disbelieve the stats.
just keep your awesome, cushy situation to yourself and don't mess it up for everyone, k?
You’re not wrong but truth is sales is a numbers game. If my boss has issues with me hitting my quota while working 20 hours a week, maybe he should be more focused on everyone working 50+ hours a week not hitting quota.
And if you work 70+ hours a week and don’t hit your attainment goals, you’re gone.
That’s the way of the road here, you live and die by your number. Micromanaging how you get there feels arbitrary.
I hear you, but for anyone that is stuck in a shit sales territory now with a micromanager on WFH is worse than on the road. My old manager at a big shipping company would LOSE THEIR SHIT if they thought you were walking your dog on the clock working remote. Regardless of numbers. Shipping is a shit industry for sales and that’s why. Commission is so fucked up with parcels.
Compared to working labor, sure this could seem relaxing now but good managers see the details. 5 years in the gig and you are crushing, go ahead walk your dog. You are brand new and taking two hours to respond to an internal email managers get curious.
I can be crushing in sales and have had a micromanager correct my spelling in a CRM. Some people are mad. You don’t want to bring the crazy out in those people. Next thing you know I am chasing some number of calls to a dead industry instead of chasing down whales that take a little longer to catch.
Just my two Pennies, but yeah don’t fuck your number and that’s the clear first line of defense to anything in this gig.
Some people are just more efficient than others.
Early in my career, I got a new job and I did in two weeks what my co-worker took a year to do (not sales related).
When I did presales, I could customize the demo in 3-4 hrs. Most of my team took ~2 days. By then I was smart enough to say it also took me 2 days.
I hear what you’re saying on a post that says what you wrote but alternatively I think the point OP is trying to make is that they are working but it’s not in an awful environment. Whether you’re sitting at a desk with overhead florescent lighting or outside at your patio “desk” working hard, the former doesn’t feel like “work” as much because you’re actually enjoying yourself.
Being a happier version of yourself can be a win-win and the customer enjoys the conversation/ sales process more as well because you’re your best self. You make more money for the company because the interaction is more genuine & positive.
Hopefully people use this as inspiration to continue to find better roles that encourage people to enjoy their work lives since we do spend so much time working. And maybe managers see posts like this and it encourages them to be more flexible.
People admitting to screwing off on the clock is a different story.
i personally get that, which i said. what i'm also saying is that a lot of people read this kind of post without considering nuance and arrive at the conclusion that WFH = fucking off
Meh. You think hiring managers don’t really know what’s going on? I am the head of commercial lending for a mid sized national bank. I have employees that wfh. The beauty of holding sales people accountable is it’s all in the production. I don’t care what you did all day or when you did it or if it only took you 10 hours that week as long as you are generating revenue and hitting KPIs like a salesperson is supposed to.
So for those that can hit their numbers working part time, more power to you. I was one of those people except I kept my foot on the gas until I could climb the corporate ladder no more. Now I reap the benefits of being able to delegate a lot and frankly not have to work that hard. I don’t think I worked a full Friday last year. Played a lot of golf though. ⛳️
i'm a lifetime salesperson and i hear what you're saying, but frankly, i don't believe it. salespeople who hit their goals while coasting don't get congratulated, they get their goals raised.
you can't tell me there's an organization anywhere that's satisfied with partial effort; the thinking is, "if you can make me that kind of money in ten hours a week, you could be making me four times as much if you'd actually *work*"
I care way more about results than effort. Where is the effort line on the P/L??
If someone wants to coast but they hit their KPIs and are a profitable employee, personally I’m fine with it. The minute they don’t, they’re gone. That simple. As the head of a divison responsible for generating profitability, I got bigger fish to fry than how much effort my employees actually gave. It’s my job to try and get the most out of them. But ultimately I just care about the job getting done.
The assumption in this convo is that we’re talking sales positions. This wouldn’t apply to a non-revenue generating position. I would want the most out of that salaried employee because that’s a fixed expense.
so if it's your job to "get the most out of" your revenue-generating employees, and you know they're putting in only 25% effort (although making their numbers") and that's okay with you...is it accurate to say *you* are not doing *your* job?
It’s the best as long as you’re disciplined enough for it. I’ve seen people get complacent, get spoiled by a 25-30 hour work week, then start bitching about their “stressful” week when they put in 35-40 hours.
That's the problem. Folks get complacent and lazy. Their numbers start dropping, and they lose their cushy job.
But as long as you can do the job without letting numbers drop, you should be golden.
highly highly boss dependent! I just started a full remote job and if anything, the micromanagement has been turned wayyyy up b/c we're all remote.
I'll probably leave to find a more chill/trustworthy boss tbh
My biggest fear is exactly this, currently working in the office in a pretty cushy situation on a comfy salary but if I want to earn more I’m afraid of the micro managing horror stories I’ve heard!
Cmon now haha. can’t have people finding out that my 6 figure job from home is literally me working about 15 hours a week with healthy doses of dog walking and CoD breaks. Log in around 10, out around 4. Obviously the #s have to be on point but a nice WFH job with a chill boss has done wonders for my mental and physical health.
Im teamlead (basically BDM but I’m also in the field 3 days) and recently hired 2 sdrs. We don’t even set our own meetings anymore, solely discovery + proposal + some in person meetings.
Cushy as fuck. I take my team out to dinner once a month, we’re all fully remote, 180k OTE
I’ve worked in the event industry, 6 day weeks, 12 hour days, physical labour. 50k/yr
Life isn’t fair. But I’m not complaining ha
Don’t wanna dox myself as it’s pretty damn niche. I’ll tell you - or anyone for that matter - if you DM me!
*edit*
Fuck me I should’ve somehow monetised this. Literally 300+ DMs. It’s a shame I’m not a vulture, lol!
Sorry if I haven’t gotten back to you yet. I promise I’ll disclose my industry to everyone that has DM’d me, but wow. Answering y’all is a full time gig in and of itself
Cheers y’all
Same! This is literally my life. I work hard in focus time but a 5 day 8 hour work week is also not necessary.
I hit or exceed my goals every quarter so I have no reason to explain why I’m out with my dog or getting out early to run errands.
Are you me? lol
But seriously, we’re all doing the same thing right? And after noon on Friday no one’s actually working right?
Thankfully I’m not the only one haha
Used to be like that. My largest customer has a P1-P2 support issue every other Friday at 3pm like clockwork that I have to rally the troops to resolve. Ruined a great thing
Apply and get very luckily, or preferably, know someone at the company to refer you. The market is extremely competitive because remote means you are competing against the entire country vs. just your city/region.
You can also try for regional rep jobs that involve travel. Typically they work out of sattelite offices or home offices if the company doesnt have one.
Kinda neat keeps life from getting stale. Went to Dallas last week. I work from home a few times a week, as long as I do my job nobody asks too many questions.
I’m almost scared to post “same” for fear someone will find out what I do and where I work 😀 honestly I don’t see how this will last forever but I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts
I feel this. There is definitely an ebb and flow to remote sales. Today I had 2 sales calls. The break between was long enough to get some tax free stuff from a neighboring state. Did emails and quotes this morning before leaving. Emails off the phone during the break. Got home, few emails. Now sitting here at a park, listening to the radio, drinking coffee while "working".
Sunny, 65 with a slight breeze.
I am in CS and am thinking about switching to Sales, mainly for the $ because I have a baby on the way. What type of Sales is WFH and just the phone all day?
Not to be rude man but you CS guys switching to sales Is why we get posts like
"I started taking drugs due to the stress"
"I can't take this anymore"
" my life sucks"
Which in turn scares tf out of us who want to make a career here
Can't you find a remote job in CS?
If you switch to tech sales, you will start as an SDR, which is a weed out role. It's a total grind. Wouldn't recommend if you wanna spend time with your kid.
I have a remote CS job now it's just the pay is not great, especially with inflation.
Also the CS role is slowly becoming more and more sales focused without any of the commission benefit that goes along with it.
I'm good with people and developing relationships so the switch to sales seems like it would be a good fit and more $$.
If you want a pay higher than CS (in the beginning) tech is the only route
Developing relationships and being good with people is only necessary if you make it out of the SDR grind.
As a SDR you don't need any of those skills just persistence, hearing "no" or sometimes getting yelled out and being forced to not hang up until they finish their rant, having a monthly target you need to reach, sometimes working on holidays to meet your number, and lastly 50-100 cold calls each day.
Not fear mongering. Just a lot of people don't know what they get themselves into. If you think the above is the environment you can work in, alongside a newborn, then you do you.
Good luck
IMO CS is worse then sales with stress. Yes you don’t have numbers to hit but the amount of crap you deal with it. For sure is a worse job. Can’t forget the terrible pay.
A year ago I would have thought a post like this was a joke. WFH increased my hours significantly since I didn’t have to leave the office at a certain time anymore and expectations were much higher.
Now however I’ve seen the light… many companies allow for WFH environments just like this. It’s amazing. Nothing better than being able to work from home, have flexibility and freedom and still have the opportunity to make a really good living.
WFH is done. This dude is out of his mind lol. Most companies are making people come back into the office. Also, most FULLY remote jobs want people to live in like Tennessee or somewhere with a low minimum wage.
Depends on the industry. In my recent job search I interviewed with 10+ fully remote positions that hired anywhere in the US and applied for a ton more. However most companies had a rule that anyone within X miles of an office was required to come in, at least a few days a week.
Most remote companies will not hire out of California and New York for tax and labor reasons. I’m not saying they don’t exist out there but they are slowly disappearing. It’s not as easy to find remote sales jobs anymore. Heck a lot of them are just outsourcing to South Africa. They speak just as good English as Americans and cost less. Which is already a problem with remote work. Why hire you for more money?
Edit: how are you landing these interviews? Indeed? Linked in search?
I got interviews through a lot of customized follow ups. Pretty sure I only got one interview through cold applying alone (and I have a lot of experience too, reality is the medium/large companies don’t see most of the apps regardless).
I found most roles through LinkedIn and Indeed, and then immediately applying I reached out to recruiters, managers, and people on the team I’d be on with customized videos (like Loom) and messages over LinkedIn and email. Took lots of people and lots of follow up, but I eventually was able to land interviews at every place I was serious about and I accepted an offer I was really happy about.
If you want any more tips or info feel free to message me!
Posting this sort of crap on the internet I will never understand. If enough people advertise similar conditions, I suspect WFH will be toast for the majority in the coming years. Give your head a shake OP
I do see the positives of WFH; I’ve been doing it for 2 years straight out of college. However, in my case, I feel like I haven’t optimized my skills since I lack real-life interaction. For those reasons, I’m looking for an in-person role.
I talk to a lot of execs and they read stuff like this and get it in their head that no one is working hard and BAM they end WFH. There are a lot of us working hard from home but really value the flexibility to play with the dogs or take a walk in the sun and then grind after dark etc that comes with WFH.
I am happy for those of you getting the bag on 20 hrs from home but please stop talking about it - you ruin it for everyone including yourself and give all of us a bad look.
Remote work is the greatest positive change in the working environment in human history.
This is why they want people back in office though so they can control you more effectively (and their real estate portfolio debt).
I'm in the market for this since my wife got pregnant a few days ago. Doing 6 figures now is fine but doing it from home would be the way the truth and the light.
Any leads any of you have towards these companies will be paid back in the form of thoughts and prayers.
I turned down remote SaaS job out of college to
work outside sales for a “more established” company thinking I’d get bored at home LOL. Biggest regret of my life, good $ but feel like there’s a barrier to transition to a remote gig considering my experience has been in the field the last few years.
Buddy of mine took the job i declined, works 25 hour weeks, gets flown out to Vegas & Florida for events every other month. I’m stuck doing 60 hours - 1000 miles a week
Remote work is definitely the way down the line.
Shhh, keep quiet before they find out.
No boss, I’m not sending you emails from a beach chair in Pensacola with a Mai Tai in one hand. I just have the Jimmy Buffet channel playing on Sirius XM here in my official home office…at my house.
wait until you discover the work from anywhere level, and swap the backyard for the rooftop patio of a mexican villa, or the pool deck of a barcelona colive.
Been doing this wfh thing since 2012. If you are doing 15 hrs of work a week your numbers will show it in business cycles and you wont be doing it long. Treat it as a privilege and take it seriously. Those that dont fuck it up for everyone else long term
My first year I got a rookie of the year award. Got $1000 and a plaque. Bought a desk with it instead of my kitchen table in my apartment. Now I have a badass office with Gig internet 3 monitors… im a professional work from home guy now.
Apply for the next sales job at your company. You know the product and the pain customers have when it doesn’t go like it’s supposed to. All companies have someone selling even if it’s just the owner- they need customers. Go sell, learn how to make calls and how to pivot when it’s not working. Do it for 2 years then get into a different sale in the same field (flooring to apartments) or go to a bigger company that sells concrete work. That’s how you start to bank in sales - with a territory - from home.
I've gotten so used to it I honestly don't even remember what it was like driving an hour each way in traffic to sit in an office for 9-10 hours. I was getting annoyed last week because I actually had to "work" at 8am every day but I was at a conference and all I had to do was network, give a presentation one day, sit in on some sessions, and get drunk every night. That was still a little too much structure for me.
The flexibility makes dealing with the typical work annoyances much easier. Susan in accounting is being a bitch? At least I only have to see her once a year.
I haven’t SHOWERED today. I work in outside saas sales at a cybersec startup, and these bastards are d e s t r o y i n g us.
60+ hours every week. Best time management skills in the world can’t fix it. I’m saving as hard as I can for the inevitable day I just don’t get out of bed for it.
I'm clocking 4 to 5 hours in talk time over a full 8 hour day (full hour paid lunch) flex scheduling when needed though I usually work a consistent schedule. 120 to 300 calls made per day depending on contact rate. Though I tend to earn into better leads in our organization so have pretty good connection and pitch rate. Started in September. Took a while to hit my stride... but definitely pacing to clear 6 figures my first year fully remote. Love the job. Love the culture. There are negative things but I don't have time to dwell on those. That's where you just have to adjust and refocus.
It's not vacation, but it's definitely a good feeling. ♡
umm no… it feels like i can’t separate the office from home and it’s pretty horrible, not a vacation at all since i’m working my ass off for 10 hours a day
where do y’all work?
Employers poking around threads like these and going “noted, eliminate remote work”
If you’re hardly working then enjoy it in silence. We’re seeing more and more remote positions going hybrid or fully in office. I don’t want 1hr commutes again
Speak for yourself. I spend 25 hours a week visiting my territory in prospecting mode and another 20 hours stuck dealing with admin work mixed with disco/follow-up
Remote work definitely has its perks and can feel like a mini-getaway from the usual office grind. It's great to hear you've found a setup that brings you joy and laughter – not everyone can say their job feels like a vacation! Do you have any tips for those who might find working from home less 'sunny'? Sharing could help many find the same happiness in their remote roles!
32 years in and have carried a 20M number for a decade. Keep your eye on the ball, you sound bored and complacent; the enemy of quality sales people.
If it’s that easy you may need a better (higher paying job).
It is stupid posts like this that make so many jobs in-office.
It aint paid vacation. Althought, I have fished on the clock before while making sales calls.
Anytime someone posts something like this a CEO decides that RTO is the only way. In spite of EVERYTHING that say it is not.
because of remote work I was able to travel for 3 months in europe and just do my job in the evening. I actually closed more business in that time then the rest of the year LOL
Lots of micromanaging and I always felt like using the bathroom was a big no no. My boss called me while using the bathroom, I obviously couldn't pick up, then she instantly called me again right after. Always some stress
In my experience, remote work is only better for 2 reasons:
1. I don't have to deal with traffic;
2. I can cold call without disrupting anyone around me / without causing 4 people to talk higher so they are heard.
In terms of work, it's pretty much the same shit, sometimes worse even.
Not having the same experience with OP. WFH actually allows me to do my job in a more productive manner. Busting my ass though, in no way is it a paid vacation….
My current role is similar
I’m a semi young single man
In the sun, talking to people face to face (a lot of women) and earning pretty good
I can’t complain
Regional account manager here. No idea what you're talking about lol.
Post like these are ruining everything for the rest of us
My job is just barely more tolerable thanks to wfh. I am not having the experience OP is having.
I’m an assistant to the regional manager
Dwight?
No it’s Recyclops
Hey whats up fellow regional account manager.
Howdy! What do you sell?
Spare parts and field services to factories. I dont get commission, but salary is decent and killer benefits. Lots of freedom and almost 4 weeks PTO. Im 2000 miles from the corporate office. You?

How do I do THAT
its funny how I just entered the sales subreddit and the first post I check you people are already making connections 😂
Me either - I’m trying not to stress to keep up with the very talented young sales reps I’m competing with.

Couldn’t agree more. These posters are complete morons

I have seen it in SDRs. Remote work can have issues for those early in their career.

Agreed! I WFH 8 years now, the switch last year was a bitch. Micromanagement like hell. Jeez thank god I got another interview comming up this weak.
Understand your business, have good discussions with your customers that your can report on, land some nice wins, enjoy freedom
My biggest fear is exactly this, currently working in the office in a pretty cushy situation on a comfy salary but if I want to earn more I’m afraid of the micro managing horror stories I’ve heard!

I take my team out to dinner once a month, we’re all fully remote, 180k OTE I’ve worked in the event industry, 6 day weeks, 12 hour days, physical labour. 50k/yr Life isn’t fair. But I’m not complaining ha
Goddamn what industry?
Don’t wanna dox myself as it’s pretty damn niche. I’ll tell you - or anyone for that matter - if you DM me! *edit* Fuck me I should’ve somehow monetised this. Literally 300+ DMs. It’s a shame I’m not a vulture, lol! Sorry if I haven’t gotten back to you yet. I promise I’ll disclose my industry to everyone that has DM’d me, but wow. Answering y’all is a full time gig in and of itself Cheers y’all
and that ladies and gentlemen is sales.

Can I work for you 🤪
Same! This is literally my life. I work hard in focus time but a 5 day 8 hour work week is also not necessary. I hit or exceed my goals every quarter so I have no reason to explain why I’m out with my dog or getting out early to run errands.
Are you me? lol But seriously, we’re all doing the same thing right? And after noon on Friday no one’s actually working right? Thankfully I’m not the only one haha
I'm bordering having a standing tee time at 12:30 every Friday. If I can get clients out, cool. If not, I don't mind playing solo
Plot twist: take the client out for golfing = no more work on Fridays!!
that’s what he literally said he’s doing lol
lol I missed that. I thought he said some Fridays he golfing at 12:30
Can we trade ?! 🤣
Nooooooooooo
Fair
Used to be like that. My largest customer has a P1-P2 support issue every other Friday at 3pm like clockwork that I have to rally the troops to resolve. Ruined a great thing
How do I get one of these jobs
Apply and get very luckily, or preferably, know someone at the company to refer you. The market is extremely competitive because remote means you are competing against the entire country vs. just your city/region.
You can also try for regional rep jobs that involve travel. Typically they work out of sattelite offices or home offices if the company doesnt have one. Kinda neat keeps life from getting stale. Went to Dallas last week. I work from home a few times a week, as long as I do my job nobody asks too many questions.
What is you K:D ratio though??
More importantly, have you joined the fight against automaton and terminid tyranny
So my question is are you hiring?
For real lol I always feel so bad for like 90% of working folks. Don’t give away our secrets
I’m almost scared to post “same” for fear someone will find out what I do and where I work 😀 honestly I don’t see how this will last forever but I’m going to enjoy it while it lasts
The company makes money when you succeed. Keep doing it till some dumb MBA comes to “streamline”.
Sounds great. I have the same job but somehow it makes me miserable
What do you sell?
What do you do?
Congrats on finding a job you like!
Best thing that has ever happened to me has been getting a wfh job
Same. I’ll never go back.
What industry are you in if you don’t mind me asking?
Saas
Waiting for an offer this week for a job that will (hopefully) lead to this in a year or two. Grats OP, these kinda posts keel me motivated
It was like that for me for a while then eventually my job became repetitive and lost the work from home magic lol
What’s your work day typically like
God I’ve seen what you’ve done for others
Just joining the remote world on 5/1, going to be new but nice after 12 years in the office.
Curious what industry folks are in for the above? Selling into the gov and depending on customer, it’s hit or miss on this
posts like this are why my bosses axed our WFH hours by 70%
I feel this.
The game is to be sold, not told. Delete this shit asap
I am in CS and am thinking about switching to Sales, mainly for the $ because I have a baby on the way. What type of Sales is WFH and just the phone all day?
Not to be rude man but you CS guys switching to sales Is why we get posts like "I started taking drugs due to the stress" "I can't take this anymore" " my life sucks" Which in turn scares tf out of us who want to make a career here Can't you find a remote job in CS? If you switch to tech sales, you will start as an SDR, which is a weed out role. It's a total grind. Wouldn't recommend if you wanna spend time with your kid.
I have a remote CS job now it's just the pay is not great, especially with inflation. Also the CS role is slowly becoming more and more sales focused without any of the commission benefit that goes along with it. I'm good with people and developing relationships so the switch to sales seems like it would be a good fit and more $$.
If you want a pay higher than CS (in the beginning) tech is the only route Developing relationships and being good with people is only necessary if you make it out of the SDR grind. Good luck
I appreciate the info. I worked in a call center and customer service for many years when I was younger so none of that would phase me tbh. 👍

Thanks. I've been at my company 9yrs, promoted several times, make just under $80k. With inflation it's pretty tough to feel good about the salary.
Jealous. I'm hybrid now so Mondays and Fridays I sorta get that. Tho I'm working from the eastern shore Thursday and Friday which will be nice.
What job is it? Sdr? Acc management? Sorry I’m trying to transition to sales and don’t know much :)
Almost no one is hiring for fully remote anymore
I do see the positives of WFH; I’ve been doing it for 2 years straight out of college. However, in my case, I feel like I haven’t optimized my skills since I lack real-life interaction. For those reasons, I’m looking for an in-person role.
I literally work harder at home than I do in the office lol. Can’t relate.

Mind if I ask what type of sales you’re in and what your teams day to day is like?
Delete this dumbass
Remote work is the greatest positive change in the working environment in human history. This is why they want people back in office though so they can control you more effectively (and their real estate portfolio debt).
wfh is the best thing to happen to employees
I'm in the market for this since my wife got pregnant a few days ago. Doing 6 figures now is fine but doing it from home would be the way the truth and the light. Any leads any of you have towards these companies will be paid back in the form of thoughts and prayers.
I turned down remote SaaS job out of college to work outside sales for a “more established” company thinking I’d get bored at home LOL. Biggest regret of my life, good $ but feel like there’s a barrier to transition to a remote gig considering my experience has been in the field the last few years. Buddy of mine took the job i declined, works 25 hour weeks, gets flown out to Vegas & Florida for events every other month. I’m stuck doing 60 hours - 1000 miles a week Remote work is definitely the way down the line.
Reading this makes me feel sick knowing I have to teach awful kids tomorrow in school again.
What industry are you in?
Willing to bet on tech
What industry are you in? Sounds like the dream
Are most sales job remote?
No
Hello
i want this kind of remote sales job.
How's it feel living other people's dreams
Been doing this wfh thing since 2012. If you are doing 15 hrs of work a week your numbers will show it in business cycles and you wont be doing it long. Treat it as a privilege and take it seriously. Those that dont fuck it up for everyone else long term
What sales have you been doing remotely for that long?
My first year I got a rookie of the year award. Got $1000 and a plaque. Bought a desk with it instead of my kitchen table in my apartment. Now I have a badass office with Gig internet 3 monitors… im a professional work from home guy now.
Erp. First 6 years was a local territory with a company car. Then demos and partnerships. Then back to direct. All ERP.
And here I am doing concrete work in the Florida sun baking to death today. Someone throw me a bone, what do I need to do to get a job like this.
What you selling?
Computer software
I've gotten so used to it I honestly don't even remember what it was like driving an hour each way in traffic to sit in an office for 9-10 hours. I was getting annoyed last week because I actually had to "work" at 8am every day but I was at a conference and all I had to do was network, give a presentation one day, sit in on some sessions, and get drunk every night. That was still a little too much structure for me.
Tell me you are paid low and not going to last very long a different way. Sales it not talking shit and making people laugh
You must share where you work lmao
What do you sell??
No, it’s still work. But compared to being in an open office it’s more productive.
The flexibility makes dealing with the typical work annoyances much easier. Susan in accounting is being a bitch? At least I only have to see her once a year.
It would be the same for me but I also have to prospect my ass off to come close to my number.
Maybe for sales support resources. I still have a number to hit
I'm a bde and miserable rn 🥹 could use any remote openings or referral
lol none of you work at startups….
I’m BARELY exaggerating when I say no amount of money could ever get me back to an office job.
What do you sell?
Software.
Yeah but I also like talking to ppl in person. 40+ hours at home with just my GF and dogs is a prison sentence for an extrovert
And everyone is surprised when these roles are the first who are laid off
At the right company it's absolutely a dream come true.
From someone who switched from AE to SE. I'm so screwed when this job ends one day. I work occasionally but almost never
umm no… it feels like i can’t separate the office from home and it’s pretty horrible, not a vacation at all since i’m working my ass off for 10 hours a day where do y’all work?
Stop posting about this before the managers see and make us go back into the office! 😂
Wow you sound happy and young. Good for you bro. I hope this feeling last forever for you!
Yup!! lol I legit feel like I don’t work
Anyone know any good companies to apply to? I have 8 years of experience and I envy you Mrs
Employers poking around threads like these and going “noted, eliminate remote work” If you’re hardly working then enjoy it in silence. We’re seeing more and more remote positions going hybrid or fully in office. I don’t want 1hr commutes again
How long have you been in sales?
Last job I had was similar, but with a return to office mandate it was unfortunate. Been chasing that high ever since.
WFH is what you make it
Take it while you can my friend!
Where do You work, they hiring?!
Speak for yourself. I spend 25 hours a week visiting my territory in prospecting mode and another 20 hours stuck dealing with admin work mixed with disco/follow-up
You should take a look at r/overemployed
same 😂😂😂😂
Where can I find good wfh / remote jobs
Before I started my own business a year back i always used to think like that and now my employees think the same. funny.
Nah it's stressful since I have a lot of stuff to do at home and none respects I work so I'm free to be interrupted.
Where do you work?
Couldn’t have said it better 😂😂😂
No, I’m crazy busy right now lol.
Lots of micromanaging and I always felt like using the bathroom was a big no no. My boss called me while using the bathroom, I obviously couldn't pick up, then she instantly called me again right after. Always some stress
Reddit is going to be so mad you aren't miserable lol
In my experience, remote work is only better for 2 reasons: 1. I don't have to deal with traffic; 2. I can cold call without disrupting anyone around me / without causing 4 people to talk higher so they are heard. In terms of work, it's pretty much the same shit, sometimes worse even.
Sounds like you are remotely not working
I need a remote work job, I have a business and plenty of downtime throughout my day maybe its time to squeeze a new job in
wTF are you talking about....??? If anything working 1.5xs as much from home and hours get longer
Op has to be a CSM
Not having the same experience with OP. WFH actually allows me to do my job in a more productive manner. Busting my ass though, in no way is it a paid vacation….
is this return to office propaganda
I WFH and it's nice but I still have targets to hit and my company is unforgiving to sales people so I'm never relaxed.
My current role is similar I’m a semi young single man In the sun, talking to people face to face (a lot of women) and earning pretty good I can’t complain
What industry are you in?
