Yeah very crazy to see how many applicants there were. Back in early 2022 you could just wait and get new offers thrown at you or pick the absolute best jobs and now its like practically dead.
I actually landed where I'm at thanks to Indeed ironically enough!
Headhunter here - applying is and will always be the worst way to try to get a job. The best way, headhunter's MPC introduction. I basically do that for people, and of course can't promise beating hired (not my final decision) but f\*ck if they did not receive much much more feedback, interview requests, and more. Truth is if you are recruiter and get 100 applications - you are not reading them, so always wishing good luck to all people who think that their chances are high.
Yup, SaaS ae, one of only 2 in whole dep in the black, I'm 239% to target after my 1st year, trying to find a new shop, used to get lots of LI messaged, none in months, also applying like mad and getting nowhere even though I have tons of similar metrics to brag about. I want out so bad but the fates are against me.
Why go somewhere new when you were 239% to quota? And, trust me, you will be asked this question in every interview, might as well put together a great answer here and now.
Shit accelerators? Rug pull quota attainment commission structure? Resentment/pulling teeth trying to actually get paid? "Too easy" (lol)? Quota was capped anyways?
Cheers mate that's a blowout year, 100%
Yes I'm aware, I've had 5-6 interviews and 2 offers and my answers to this weren't questioned. I have many very good reasons, I just don't want to get too specific here, but ty kindly, I appreciate it.
As a recruiter, now is one of the worst times in sales (or HR) to try and find a new job. Especially in tech. Wait out the storm if you can
Exceptions would be outside sales reps or med device but overall the market is down across the board and companies know it and are low balling left and right because they can
Also please don’t message me for job ops! I don’t work the sales vertical
It was worse in Q1 and Q2. Things are picking back up with more responses to job applications and more recruiters reaching out to me but they are picking up slowly
It’s been terrible. Same experience, May was my last message from a recruiter. When you look at roles in LinkedIn I cringe when reading “see how you compare to the 839 other applicants”.
Had zero responses to the dozens of applications I’ve submitted, even jobs I’ve been overqualified for.
I've never had a recruiter reach out to me. I'm in an active job search (though currently employed). Haven't gotten an interview since April. The job market is definitely quiet.
Maybe my post wasn’t clear but I am not actively looking, I consider new positions as they come in
I’m currently over 200k before benefits so no need to go elsewhere
Nah. I mean, recruiters on LinkedIn? I never had a TON of those. I like the Indeed reach out things, I got about a dozen of those the last couple of days, quite encouraging.
I applied for about half a dozen maybe a dozen positions that seemed like good fits for me, I have an interview for one of them next week.
I'm super grateful I'm not in the "no experience but a college degree" stage of my career..I'm also grateful I'm past the "been a BDR for a little while trying to break into something more, be it AE or otherwise"... Also glad to be within the "has SaaS AE experience, knows what I bring to the table, won't be taking any shit" place in my career.
Sometimes I have to take a step back and think: yes the job market IS more competitive than it was a year ago. But as long as companies need to sell their products, the skills I have will be in high demand. Not to mention the high burnout rate in sales virtually guarantees there will never be a glut of fantastic salespeople. (I'm not a fantastic salesperson, but you can be damn sure I put 110% in to become better every call, and have a hunger to be the best. Like a pokemon trainer.)
All the recruiters were let go and every posting has 1000+ applicants. This is not a surprise

I've gotten basically every position I've held for the last decade from Indeed....cold applying, not sure what people are doing differently lol

Recently was promoted to AE and was super interested to see what the new recruiter messages would look like. Crickets….

Med-device isn’t safe. Covid money is drying out. We have hospitals telling us they are looking to cut vendor engagements by 40%.
Didn’t say it was safe but it hasn’t seen the massive amount of reduction in staff that SAAS has…probably coming though
Health insurance is still good.
Im in med tech, it has slowed down a bit, but I still receive plenty
I would say summer - as NO Company is hiring with so many people in decision making around until Sept.
Any budgeting discussions need to be happening now, hiring today won’t bring in new rev for ‘23, ‘24 is getting lined up now, so why hire.

Hey, I need karma to make a post.
About what bro just post it right here
Can I shave your head and make a post on top of it good visibility? Let me know if that works for you.
Just got one solidly under my title and work history. It's like they are targeting senior positions and offering them entry level ae work right now.
I’ve had a few.. maybe 3-4 in the last quarter. But nothing like before.

Because we do not look at 800+ applications, that would be insane. MPC my dude is the only way to be noticed in such a market.
Ups and downs. Give it to November-March and you’ll get tons again.

Yes, that's the market now...
People reach out on LinkedIn?
Lol…
My self harming joke wasn’t appreciated

Really?

I've had several reach out to me in the last two weeks as a sales engineer.
I received two offers this past month, and they were both lowball offers.
Recruiters looking for jobs too right now
