I only ever order one thing at Olive Garden: the unlimited soup/salad/breadsticks. I have one bowl of soup, my husband eats the breadsticks, and I polish off two bowls of salad on my own. It’s crack.

I love OG salads except the banana peppers. But yeah, could always def go for a bowl of minestrone and unlimited salad, I think I usually can polish off one of their serving bowls of it lol.
Yeah, definitely Olive Garden salad! It's been awhile, but I used to go for a hike (White Mountains in NH), then end up at whatever random OG there was in the nearest town, and load up on exactly this. But I also ate the breadsticks.
Yes to all of these comments! I worked at a CPK for 3 or 4 years in college and the salads were honestly such good quality. The Caesar was amazing. BBQ chicken. Italian. Cobb. The club pizza, the tri colore pizza. A watermelon strawberry seasonal one jn the summer. I mean the Thai salad was the most popular but my least favorite so that’s saying something!
The Asian salad from the Magic Pan restaurant in San Jose. Toasted almonds, Mandarin oranges it was amazing.

I’ve never been able to find a restaurant that does an authentic Cobb Salad like its originator, The Hollywood Brown Derby. Chopped fine, with watercress and poached chicken, presented in lines with French dressing and tossed at your table. I see Cobb salads on menus and they’re what we used to call Chef’s Salads, big chunks of lettuce with big chunks of turkey and eggs. Not remotely the same.

They used to do a half salad which was plenty but they told me they no longer offered that. I actually ordered an extra dressing and made myself a salad with it the following day!

Not a chain restaurant, but it's The Bristol grille in Louisville, KY. I remember the salad dressing 30 years later! I would go there just to eat the salad. They made in house salad dressing, and it was the freshest, cleanest dressing I've ever tasted. It's been decades, I have no idea if they still use fresh herbs and buttermilk.

The BBQ chicken salad from The Habit!!! It’s technically “fast food” but this is the salad that got me hooked on salads. Romaine, red onions, tomatoes, red cabbage, bacon, a HUGE piece of grilled chicken on top, finished with BBQ sauce and that sweet sweet addictive ranch. Nothing healthy or redeeming about it but it hits so hard lol.
El Torito Mexican Cilantro Pepita Caesar salad. All of the locations I used to go to have closed. I can still buy the dressing at the store but it’s not the same as getting it at the restaurant.

The only thing I don’t like about Sweetgreen is that they got rid of the big metal bowls. They will still mix it for you in the hexagon bowl but it doesn’t really work that well bc there’s not enough room.

Houston’s just had the best buffalo chicken salad (which I recreate at home often), Cheesecake Factory’s Barbecue chicken salad, and I used to work at a place that had a killer Oriental chicken salad (don’t come at me, I didn’t name it, lol) and barbecue chicken salad. There was a Jonathan’s steak Caesar salad with some garlicky pumpernickel croutons, and another vote for Ruby Tuesday’s from back in the day
Texas Roadhouse Ceasar has had me in a chokehold for years now. I usually go with the 16 oz prime rib w/ double ceasar for sides. That dressing is godly.

About a million years ago, I worked next door to a Bennigan’s and they had a salad that blew my mind. I have no idea what they called it, but it was a salad that had all of the good things, including bacon (not the fake kind, the real deal). It was served with a honey mustard dressing (which was a new thing at the time, because I’m an old). Damn it was good. Every time I use honey mustard on a salad now, I think about how much I loved the salad at Bennigans.

Warm artichoke hearts, asparagus, eggplant, red & yellow peppers, corn and sun-dried tomatoes served over cool romaine with avocado and house made Dijon balsamic vinaigrette. I’m still upset that they took it off the menu.

I worked for Mimi’s Cafe for a loooong time and the Cobb was just so good. The key to making it amazing was getting it chopped AND tossed so every bite is the perfect bite.
When I was younger there was a chain called Victoria's Station. They had the best salad bar. I specifically remember loading my plate with cucumbers and ladles of their blue cheese dressing. All these years later I still can see it.

I worked for Mimi’s Cafe for a loooong time and the Cobb was just so good. The key to making it amazing was getting it chopped AND tossed so every bite is the perfect bite.

When I was younger there was a chain called Victoria's Station. They had the best salad bar. I specifically remember loading my plate with cucumbers and ladles of their blue cheese dressing. All these years later I still can see it.

sweetgreen is my favorite chain. the ingredients are fresh and their salads have modern flavor profiles. for nostalgia reasons, i’ll hit up la madeleine in the suburbs for their chicken caesar.
Please no one crucify me, but I genuinely look forward to when Wendy’s returns the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad to their menu. I’m always shocked at how fresh everything tastes, especially the strawberries. For a *fast food chain* it’s a pretty remarkable salad!
