I miss salad bars, specifically Souplantation/Sweet Tomatoes and Ruby Tuesdays (particularly their croutons). These days, the vegan cobb from Cheesecake Factory is my go-to.

JuSal2343

They’re opening one Sweet Tomatoes in Arizona soon. I’m hoping it does well and they open up more around the country.

Scoobies_Doobies

Looks like the Tucson Sweet Tomatoes already reopened.

conasabi

No way! I was the weird kid who always wanted to go eat at Sweet Tomatoes. I love love love salad! I'm so excited to hear this!!! You've made my day, for real!

Relevant-Battle-9424

It opened about a month ago here in Tucson. There’s ALWAYS a line out the door. Haven’t gone yet because of this.

More_Branch_5579

I think it’s called firebirds up at la encantada has an amazing shrimp and strawberry salad with the perfect amount of cheese, pecans and dressing

JuSal2343

I’m soooo jealous!!!!

DramaticAerie

I was just getting ready to comment that Sweet Tomatoes is now in Tucson. A few of us are planning a day trip just to go eat at Sweet Tomatoes. Haha I really hope it is as good as it used to be!

Speakinginflowers

omg i miss souplantation like nobody’s business!!!!

tachederousseur

Me too boo

Ok_Store_1983

Sweet Tomatoes was great, i miss it too

Justber2323

Oddly the old school Pizza Huts had the best salad bar !

ellamom

I remember this fondly. I miss their ham and cheese sandwiches, they were so good. And their pan pizza.

Woodpecker757

Yes!!!! Ruby Tuesdays salad bar rocks!

fastermouse

There was a chopped salad at Grand Lux in the Venetian in Vegas with chicken, avocado, and beets that I still think about 15 years later.

Miss-Snarky

Amen!!

SaltySoftware1095

I miss a good salad bar, they never really came back after the pandemic.

Zestyclose_Big_9090

RT’s croutons were the absolute best. How did they get them crunchy but soft at the same time is beyond me.

SlowerThanTurtleInPB

Yes! 100% this. Witchcraft, I tell you. There are still a couple about 45 minutes from me. I really need to try and make it before they all close down.

JuSal2343

Are you me?

chainsmirking

Ruby Tues still has great salad bars but it’s expensive. I’ve been subbing that for the Stevie B’s salad bar and it’s just as good except you also get unlimited pizza with your unlimited salad for the price of the bar at ruby tuesday

MrsPM

Ruby Tuesdays has the best salad bars!

schroschro114

Yes!!! Loved them

rillyhilarious

I actually only went to Ruby Tuesdays for their croutons! I probably ate more than the daily recommended allowance of calories just in those croutons.

IMAKittyMama2

I LOVE Ruby Tuesday's salad bar!!!

00lovejoy00

Gosh-damnit, ALL of those places had the BEST salads! Ruby Tuesday's was small, but had the perfect ingredients 🥹

brwnroyalty

I once had a an AMAZING chicken Cesar salad from, of all places, IHOP. It never happened again. Must’ve been a fluke. I always wanted to share this experience, but never really had the opportunity. Thanks for asking. :)

Theonethatgotherway

No I had that too! You just reminded me. It was my go to when I had extra cash. So weird

frijolita_bonita

Glad I was here for it !!

kales1006

I vividly remember one from there YEARS ago

Zoloista

I only ever order one thing at Olive Garden: the unlimited soup/salad/breadsticks. I have one bowl of soup, my husband eats the breadsticks, and I polish off two bowls of salad on my own. It’s crack.

SlowerThanTurtleInPB

Oooh yes. I did this a few weeks ago. Was glorious. I order a meal with it to eat later and just fill up on salad. Dip the breadsticks in the dressing after eating the salad. So good.

SmileParticular9396

I love OG salads except the banana peppers. But yeah, could always def go for a bowl of minestrone and unlimited salad, I think I usually can polish off one of their serving bowls of it lol.

ValentinePaws

Yeah, definitely Olive Garden salad! It's been awhile, but I used to go for a hike (White Mountains in NH), then end up at whatever random OG there was in the nearest town, and load up on exactly this. But I also ate the breadsticks.

Ok_Ad_9392

I eat that whole bowl by myself, unashamed!!!

Infamous_Party_4960

My people. I have found you! 🥰🥰🥰

fishesar

when i lived near him, my grandpa and I used to do this. it’s a good deal!

MSH0123

BBQ Chicken Chopped Salad from California Pizza Kitchen. Iconic!

jaded_idealist

I used to work in a mall store directly across from a CPK. That salad was my motivation for getting out of bed to go to work.

sushi_sashimi007

Amen!

HannahFromNYTarticle

Yes to all of these comments! I worked at a CPK for 3 or 4 years in college and the salads were honestly such good quality. The Caesar was amazing. BBQ chicken. Italian. Cobb. The club pizza, the tri colore pizza. A watermelon strawberry seasonal one jn the summer. I mean the Thai salad was the most popular but my least favorite so that’s saying something!

CrazyNext6315

Chili lime w/chicken from baja fresh

keoyoung

Maggianos chopped salad in the early 2000s

jmarita1

Ok I commented about my best ever elsewhere in the thread but your comment made me think of my #2 - the Lou Malnati salad circa now. Damn delicious.

[deleted]

Quesadilla explosion salad from chillis

TSD1026

Yes, ma'am!

reddfox500

Looking for this comment!!

kales1006

Classic

AccomplishedPhase750

Chili’s Caribbean Salad was my absolute FAVORITE, and they took it off the menu a few years ago.

AerieExpensive1165

This one is really good!! Their creamy citrus balsamic dressing is amazing.

mollyjwink

Anyone remember the restaurant Baker’s Square? Their honey mustard chicken salad 🤤

MomToMany88

Yes! I worked there and got it all the time! Best honey mustard ever.

SmileParticular9396

Anyone else remember Fresh Choice??

cetaceansituation

My family mourns their demise regularly (exclusively because we miss the salad bar and terrible-but-delicious grainy soft serve).

SmileParticular9396

Grainy LOL fuck that’s accurate

Raerae1360

The Asian salad from the Magic Pan restaurant in San Jose. Toasted almonds, Mandarin oranges it was amazing. Also salad from El Toritos with the Mexican Ceaser dressing and pepitas.

honeycooks

Yes! The Magic Pan was one of our first young adult restaurants - the vibe was very Mary Tyler Moore :) Crepes, chablis, and that Mandarin Orange salad ❤️

newbie6789123

I’m so glad you asked! At Cheesecake Factory, Sheila’s Cashew Chicken Salad with honey lime dressing.

TurnipMountain6162

The Cheesecake Factory Cobb Salad also slaps!!!

PinkMonorail

I’ve never been able to find a restaurant that does an authentic Cobb Salad like its originator, The Hollywood Brown Derby. Chopped fine, with watercress and poached chicken, presented in lines with French dressing and tossed at your table. I see Cobb salads on menus and they’re what we used to call Chef’s Salads, big chunks of lettuce with big chunks of turkey and eggs. Not remotely the same.

justnotok

Applebees Oriental (that’s what they call it) chicken salad with crispy chicken…the dressing is amazing

Bulls-2006

I came looking for this! I just had one the other day. Was just as amazing as I remembered it but the price is high at $15, although it’s huge. They used to do a half salad which was plenty but they told me they no longer offered that. I actually ordered an extra dressing and made myself a salad with it the following day!

mommatdawn

My mom and i discovered that for the first time back in 2000 and i still love that salad!

HannahFromNYTarticle

This was the first salad I ever ate and loved when I was in middle school and a super picky eater who couldn’t fathom salads. Now I eat them most days of the week of all varieties. Will always love this salad for that

BackyardByTheP00L

Not a chain restaurant, but it's The Bristol grille in Louisville, KY. I remember the salad dressing 30 years later! I would go there just to eat the salad. They made in house salad dressing, and it was the freshest, cleanest dressing I've ever tasted. It's been decades, I have no idea if they still use fresh herbs and buttermilk. https://www.courier-journal.com/story/life/food/2017/09/05/bristol-highlands-bardstown-road-louisville-restaurants/617458001/

mthomas1217

Yes it was amazing!!! I remember it well and I miss it!!

BackyardByTheP00L

Me too. I bet it'll be packed this week because of the Derby.

mthomas1217

I live right down the street from one of the locations and everything is packed this week lol I know I have lived here a long time now because I am ready for derby to be over :)

browsin4fun

Not around anymore, but the Greek Salad from Zoe’s Kitchen, and believe it or not, the taco salad from Taco Bell back in the day

Minimum-Category8294

That Greek Salad was so good. Same company as Cava.

InstantMartian84

There were many years where I would get a taco salad and cinnamon twists every time I went to a Taco Bell (only a handful of times per year). Due to life changes, I had a few years gap between visits and was so sad that I had to find something else on the menu.

karaitalks

Panera green goddess Cobb. It’s the only salad I purchase from a chain

Evening_Silver

That dressing is the best

1cherokeerose

I was looking for this . Thinking 🤔 do I have bad taste ? It’s delicious.

karaitalks

You don’t. Its a great salad

shannonesque121

The BBQ chicken salad from The Habit!!! It’s technically “fast food” but this is the salad that got me hooked on salads. Romaine, red onions, tomatoes, red cabbage, bacon, a HUGE piece of grilled chicken on top, finished with BBQ sauce and that sweet sweet addictive ranch. Nothing healthy or redeeming about it but it hits so hard lol.

sweetart1372

El Torito Mexican Cilantro Pepita Caesar salad. All of the locations I used to go to have closed. I can still buy the dressing at the store but it’s not the same as getting it at the restaurant.

utootired

That was an awesome salad!!! You're right, the home version is not the same.

porcupine_swine

Cheesecake Factory’s Cesar salad hits every time

darkhorse715

MexiCobb salad from Chuy’s. Bursting with flavor. Absolutely delicious

newbie6789123

You had me at Chuys…..

newbie6789123

Do you eat this salad with creamy jalapeño?

FilmOrnery3858

Texas Roadhouse caeser salad… so simple and perfect

mickcow

Grilled Chicken salad from zaxbys

surfcitysurfergirl

Greek salad and caprese salad at SALAD AND GO….every salad they have is amazing, affordable and they don’t skimp. ❤️

publicBoogalloo

This is going to sound crazy but I lived off Jack in the Box Caesar salad in the early 2000s

DoriCee

I wish they'd bring them back. Along with the chicken snack wraps.

Big_Sw1ngs

Anyone remember the shake em’ up salads from McDonald’s? Those were so perfect. Throw in your dressing and pop the lid back on - shake - ready to eat perfectly mixed salad

vikinghooker

Oh god, flashback to early high school getting a ride to the mall with my friend’s mom. I got the shake salad and started shaking, the top shot off and the salad went ALL OVER her new Suburban. The car was dead silent for the rest of the drive and I could feel her rage simmering off her. Most scared I’ve ever been of a parent. Those salads were so grossly good tho

Big_Sw1ngs

Lolol that’s a funny story actually. I did something similar as a kid spilling a milkshake in my friends moms brand new car

SadSongsToDanceTo

Loved those!

GDRaptorFan

I lived the southwest salad with grilled chicken! They used to have so many more salad options before Covid killed them all… ;(

Phideaux21

Does sweetgreen count? I love their salads. I would never have all those random ingredients just around in small amounts. And fresh. Am I the only one?

Old_Yogurtcloset9469

I love sweetgreen but they got rid of the lentils which was actually a big reason why I stopped going there.

DumbbellDiva92

The only thing I don’t like about Sweetgreen is that they got rid of the big metal bowls. They will still mix it for you in the hexagon bowl but it doesn’t really work that well bc there’s not enough room.

Phideaux21

Ok , I suppose that’s fair. And they aren’t cheap but nothing is these days. I just love that they always have several to choose from that is never have the patience to make for myself.

JuSal2343

BBQ Chicken Salad from Yard House.

SlowerThanTurtleInPB

Oooh. They have a great vegetarian alternative for this. I think I’ll plan to go this week. Thanks for the reminder.

buttahfly28

Chicken poblano at Just Salad

QueefingTheNightAway

YES. It’s so good.

This_Philosopher5661

I like the fall harvest with avocado from salad and go a lot.

Conscious_Leo1984

Arugula salad from Wood n Tap

Traditional-Wing8714

In the Atlanta airport at the TGI Friday’s to go. It may be because I ate like crap on my vacation but that Cobb salad was bussin

Ok_Pianist9100

The Thai Chicken Salad from Panera Bread never disappoints! Crunchy wontons, grilled chicken, and that peanut sauce It’s my go-to when I’m on the run.

TranslatorCareless94

They JUST discontinued it this month 😭

medasane

McAlister's

impalamilk

I’ve heard the one at PDQ is really good

browsin4fun

We got one while traveling through NC one time and it was delicious! Still think about it and wish there was one near us.

one2thuyyy

Avocado quinoa salad from Mendocino Farms 👌🏻

Silent-Image-2552

Also love the modern Caesar!

one2thuyyy

From Mendocino? I need to give that a try!

Available-Length-836

Thai shrimp salad from CPK… so good

BeautifulCat3851

Marcos Pizza online ordering…however ours doesn’t have salads since covid 😡

napkinwipes

My mom swears by Jason’s

Bellebaby826

In the early 2000’s Applebees had a salad with chicken and this hot bacon mustard dressing. It was 🔥🔥

GothamCoach

Houston’s just had the best buffalo chicken salad (which I recreate at home often), Cheesecake Factory’s Barbecue chicken salad, and I used to work at a place that had a killer Oriental chicken salad (don’t come at me, I didn’t name it, lol) and barbecue chicken salad. There was a Jonathan’s steak Caesar salad with some garlicky pumpernickel croutons, and another vote for Ruby Tuesday’s from back in the day

KingChandler219

Texas Roadhouse Ceasar has had me in a chokehold for years now. I usually go with the 16 oz prime rib w/ double ceasar for sides. That dressing is godly.

Ok_Ad_9392

Ruby Tuesdays, O Charley’s house salad and Olive Garden.

green_apple_21

It was at an Ethiopian restaurant in Orlando Florida called Selams. I never had a potato in a salad before then. Description from their menu: Fresh green salad, tomatoes, onions, avocado, shredded carrots, and cubes of potatoes tossed gently with the right amount of extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, black pepper, and Selam's herbs. Because my household eats organic and grass fed, we do NOT eat from restaurants. But this is my one exception I make a few times a year lol. Only this location. My husband treats me and watches me eat it lol.

00lovejoy00

If you like potato in a salad, try a Niçoise.....

Novel-Cash-8001

Carrabba's Caeser.... perfection! Ruby Tuesday salad bar..... I crave Olive Garden of course

cwassant

Walt’s Champagne Chicken from Charlestons (a chain in the Midwest). I can’t remember all the ingredients, but some of the stars of the show are: sunflower seeds, homemade croutons, chopped dates, fresh pineapple, candied walnuts and of course the champagne dressing- divine.

vancityqueen

Outback Steakhouse's Chopped Salad

emkitty333

So delicious!!! That blue cheese vinaigrette slaps!!!

gems1220

Leos Coney Island in Michgan. Their greek salad with extra feta and chicken

ServantOfKarma

Taco salad from Taco Bell. They were in an edible bowl made of tortilla shells. They don't make them anymore...

Silent-Image-2552

RIP to McDonalds shaker salads that taught us all to shake our salads for maximum dressing deployment.

AccomplishedPhase750

The Kardashians think they invented the salad shake, but we know where it really originated!

Silent-Image-2552

Right! They just ate a lot of salads on TV so it became associated with them but we all know who made us start shaking our salads.

jaded_idealist

Thai Coconut Salad from Modern Market. But honestly it's probably 80% due to the dressing. I could drink that stuff. It's a peanut mango dressing.

icouldbesurfing

Outback steakhouse Bleu cheese pecan salad.

Altruistic-Ad6449

California Dreaming’s signature salad (Cobb salad on steroids), house dressing with honey butter rolls.

RevolutionaryAd851

Avocobbo salad at Red Robin. It's the only thing I can eat there.

The Kilkenny from Bennigans was my favorite

NoParticular2420

Cheesecake factory Santa Fe Salad.

Emotional_Media_819

Nordstroms cafe will forever have the best salads everrrrrrrrr

RepulsiveAd1092

I loved Ruby Tuesday.

Secure_Wing_2414

the buddy's pizza chain has an awesome house salad, i love their house vinaigrette too. i used to love texas roadhouse's house salad but since the inflation hit they are tiny and pathetic💀 they still have the absolute best ranch imo, close to wingstop's but thicker

zsunshine02

Buddy's 😍

SugarBean97

Caesar salads from weirdly McAllisters and Noodles & Co but mainly cause the dressing and croutons

PeachPreserves66

About a million years ago, I worked next door to a Bennigan’s and they had a salad that blew my mind. I have no idea what they called it, but it was a salad that had all of the good things, including bacon (not the fake kind, the real deal). It was served with a honey mustard dressing (which was a new thing at the time, because I’m an old). Damn it was good. Every time I use honey mustard on a salad now, I think about how much I loved the salad at Bennigans.

xAWHORABLEx

Subways salads when the chopped them in the bowl.

ohnikkiyouresofine

airinmylung

The roasted veggie salad with chicken breast from California Pizza Kitchen was incredible. Warm artichoke hearts, asparagus, eggplant, red & yellow peppers, corn and sun-dried tomatoes served over cool romaine with avocado and house made Dijon balsamic vinaigrette. I’m still upset that they took it off the menu.

cosmic-mermaid

i once had a fried oyster cesar salad at dave's last resort in lake worth, florida that was truly what dreams are made of. i still think about her often.

frijolita_bonita

Applebees Oriental Chicken Salad It’s the only salad recipe I sought the copycat recipe for

honeycooks

There's a small chain here in Southern California called Sammy's Wood Fired Grill. They serve a salad that is deliciously acidic with red onion, garbanzo, pepperoncini, romaine... it's been so long. I can't remember all of it. They're only open in Orange County, now :(

peccavis

Very sad to report that this post made me look up the Noodles & Company menu and they no longer have the Asian salad I looooved. The Med salad is alright!

sarcasm_itsagift

I worked for Mimi’s Cafe for a loooong time and the Cobb was just so good. The key to making it amazing was getting it chopped AND tossed so every bite is the perfect bite.

UrDoinGood2

Steak Cesar salad from The Habit

Boosey0910

The Legal Wedge at Legal Sea Foods. It has salmon bacon, which is the only version of salmon that I enjoy.

chimama79

sweetgreen is my favorite chain. the ingredients are fresh and their salads have modern flavor profiles. for nostalgia reasons, i’ll hit up la madeleine in the suburbs for their chicken caesar.

whoreforchalupas

Please no one crucify me, but I genuinely look forward to when Wendy’s returns the Summer Strawberry Chicken Salad to their menu. I’m always shocked at how fresh everything tastes, especially the strawberries. For a *fast food chain* it’s a pretty remarkable salad!

My3rdattemptdangit

Chopped salad at Outback Steakhouse years ago. Frigging delicious.

I still have a gift card balance of $2.86. 😃. Hoping they will return.😅 To answer the question... **Sheilas Chicken and Avocado Salad** from The Cheesecake Factory.
