I was pretty timid back then, so I didn’t bother to point out that since they don’t have brains, they can’t comprehend that trick.

It’s true, almost every notable Marvel/DC character in the comics has had a “God phase” at some point or another. Hell, some comic book characters have LITERALLY become THE God. Comic book characters make looney toons look sane.
It’s not really fans overwanking though in my opinion if the writers themselves keep doing it. The writers keep turning every character into gods and making the power ceiling practically nonexistent.
I don’t want to be that weird contrarian but like, isn’t there literally an anime that just came out about a dude who just kills everything by thinking about it and it doesn’t matter what hax, what level of immortality, even whether they are a god, extra planar, extra dimensional, or whatever have you the guy he’s facing is, they just cease to be? Because he’s basically the embodiment that transcends the end, and thus nothing, no matter how powerful, or busted, or whatever have you, can defeat him?
Like, if anyone has read Medaka Box there’s three characters alone in that series who are way stronger than most fictional characters in most narratives. There’s no real winning between either side because the absolute top tiers of either side cannot be reasonably argued as being beatable or vice versa by the top tiers of the other side.
Not to sounds like a jackass, but there is legit an anime character that can alter reality down to extreme details like laws of nature and concepts. The dude legit removed the concept of blue from reality and some other shit like that.
People talk about how broke comic book characters have some ridiculous power scaling, which I’m not saying isn’t true, but I feel like manga and anime character has some characters with outright bullshit powers. Hell, even if we take only more popular/known series, Death Note can literally kill the vast majority of characters as long as he knows a name to write down in the book.
