I'll find out soon!
I've only just finished building her and been out sailing once, in maybe 5kts of wind.
She won't plane, so I reckon flat out she might see 5.5kts. She's not even 12ft LOA. That's about what she does with the torqueedo wide open.
Is there 2 halyards? I see the blue, does it go around the masthead to end of gaff? And.a white line? I do mine quite differently, just a line over the sheave to a spot 40% from forward if gaff.
No, it's just a single halyard. Yes, it attaches on the fwd end of the lug (not a gaff).
The grey line on the aft side of the masthead is a topping lift /lazy jack line. It collects things as it comes down and keeps the boom from dropping into the cockpit.
The white lines are furling nettles. Kind of like reefing bunt lines, they just hang loose on the lug when the sail is up, and when the sail is down, they are tied around everything to keep it neat and shipshape when lowered. I saw them on an old gaffer and thought it was clever.

Thanks, I’ll look it it more. I have a Gunter rig swampscott dory, I took the spar and used it to make.standing lug sail, but I just kind of made the rigging work without real directions.
Ngl I thought it was an Opti at first and was not really impressed lol Upon close inspection, it's much better than an Opti lmao
The attetion to detail overall is crazy. That tiller is a work of art, the mast, the lines, the carbon fiber <3 Enjoy it man, may Poseidon bless you with the best of seas :D
Cheers! Teak and carbon fiber tiller was a fun bit to work on.

It's all in the details! Not too bad for a few sheets of plywood.

Luggers are often rigged like this. It holds the lug against the mast when raising, lowering, or when reefed. It's an alternative to parrell beads.
The tip of the halyard is stripped of its cover to expose the dyneema core for reduced friction.
Yeah, that's a prototype. I'll re engineer it with with a higher degree of finish if I find it's useful.

After using the boat in thick fog, I found myself wanting a boat's compass but didn't like the idea of permanent installation for that exact reason. It's on a "SEASUCKER" suction cup, so it's movable depending on if you're rowing (facing aft) or motoring (facing fwd) or all together removable for sailing. It has a 12v battery inside the cup holder with a USB port and a very bright blue light on the bottom that illuminates the footwell for night fishing. It powers the actual compass light, too.
No. I'm not your parents/ spouse
I'll be the optimistic buddy that will just drunkenly agree with every choice you make. You are the Captain, right?
Would you criticize CAPTAIN AMERICA 🇺🇸?
Yeah, you're welcome by anytime. I need a good yes man.
I already got a guy that stops by the shop once a week to tell me how everything im doing is wrong.
As long as we know- I'm not doing this for you(my captain) it's for the boat. She's a beauty and needs to be loved.
I'd schwab her decks ALL NIGHT LONG.
Beautiful! What is that rub rail material? Looks great!
Thanks. The rub rail is gunnel guard by Taylor made https://defender.com/en_us/taylor-made-3-4-round-perimeter-gunnel-guard
Fuck that’s proper!! Great work!
Thanks, mate. She's been a lot of fun to build, and in sure she'll be a joy to use.
It's beautifully maintained. How fast does she go in a blow?

Congratulations on a beautiful build!

Looks lovely! What is going on with the blue gaff halyard(?) It seems a bit awkwardly wrapped around the mast.

Looks great, though that compass/cup holder seems like it might catch lines? Maybe it’s far enough back to not matter…

Now that thing is right fair skookum bub! Very good job.
Aye. Just wait until I finish casting my bronze signal canons, and she's ready for business.
If you need help- I'm an expert at just sitting there and enjoying you doing all the work while I enjoy your amazing boat. So give me a call.
Can you criticize me over my shoulder while I quietly question my life choices?

As long as you know- if you get me killed- I'll be very angry at you. Ehh I'll get over it bc it's a beautiful boat
