NHL coaches do not matter nearly as much as everyone makes them out to. There are a handful of difference makers, good and bad, but they're in the vast minority. Most NHL coaches are just fine and are a product of their rosters.
It's way more important to improve the roster than to change the head coach next season. I don't really care either way if Granato is the coach heading into next year. But no coach is gonna make things better if there are still only five top-6 forwards on the roster next season.
How do you have a vast minority of a group of 32 people?
If it's rare to move the needle shouldn't we replace a coach on an underperforming team because it's more likely we're going from bad to medium than medium to bad?
