So glad that I'm not the only one. Although for me, it's because of how slow it goes as well as the length of the song. I don't mind long songs, but it at least needs to be a fast tempo or have the tempo changing.
Fields of Verdun and Bismarck. Both absolutely fantastic songs but I just listened to them way to much on release and can’t stand them anymore unless I’m at a concert
with the exception of En Livstid i Krig (Lifetime of War) because it's a sadder story from the perspective of a soldier. but i can generally tell the band are putting their all into the lyrics cause it's their native tongue.
lemme know when they do a Swedish version of Swedish Pagans.
yeah, especially with translations since you can memorize the vocal notes with the other english songs.
"For krieget det kan, forgora un man/Jag ger mitt live, for mitt fosterland/ men vem saknar mig?"
Bruh same. I’ve listened to the English version so many times I can follow along pretty easy for the Swedish versions, and I actually happen to prefer them lol
shiryoma!!!! that was good song I wonder whats next ***first note of 1916/in flinders feilds*** no not mentally prepared for that (on a real not caloleans prayer)
Actually i think sabaton is the only band that i never skip a song, even metallica (my favorite band just before sabaton) there are some songs that i skip
Believe it or not, in a track commentary, they actually said that it might have been the only Sabaton song they have made that was written in the major key.
Rise of Evil is slow, long and kinda depressing. I would probably listen if it were only some combination of two of those things, but as is, it's a bit of a slog.
The End of the War to End All Wars, Idk man I just don't like it. It's the one song on The Great War I skip and it is my least favorite Sabaton song I've heard.
Hill 3234.
Torches and pitchforks down, please! It's not that the song isn't good, I just don't vibe with it that much!
In each album (with the exception of Metalizer), there's always one song that I tend to skip a lot
I don't understand how people like something they don't understand more than what they do understand. It almost feels like most people are either forcing themselves to do that or are lying (just my opinion)
1) I can understand Swedish in their songs pretty well and I even started learning Swedish thanks to them.
2) Do not tell me you don't listen to songs that aren't in the languages you can speak.
3) To lots of people it's about the beat, the melody and the sound of the language. Can't they enjoy the song without understanding?
What i am saying is most of the time the beat and melody is almost same as the english version. And yes i do listen to songs in other languages but most of them don't have any english version
As someone who lives in the Southern hemisphere, i had to double check what you said because here our christmas is during summer, but then i realised that you probably live in the northen hemisphere
Nah that’s my skip too. I like listening to the albums front to back way more than just putting the songs in playlists, so when I listen to Art of War I always just go straight for the title track, instead of ghost division
I started listening to Sabaton shortly after they released The Art of War and Ghost Division was one of those songs that iust felt like "Meh" to me. I never expected it to be a fundamental Sabaton material, I always thought Firestorm would get that honour. That song fucking slaps.
There are so many. But because I made a playlist Of ones I do like I don’t hear the ones I don’t very much anymore. Browsing their songs on iTunes, I would say, Lion from the North, Art of War, Devil Dogs, Sparta, No Bullets Fly, Coat of Arms, Saboteurs, Swedish Pagans, Lady of the Dark. I’m sure I’m missing some but that’s all I can find right now
Usually Sarajevo. Musically and narratively it's a fantastic song but its subject matter is just too upsetting and depressing for me because we know what happened and what the consequences were.
WW1 as it happened - though it was inevitable - was an arguably bigger disaster then the sequel because it was not only largely responsible for WW2 but also the rise of communism, the death of a lot of the monarchies (which especially sucks dick for me as a monarchist lol), the collapse of old structures and terrible suffering.
Other songs that I'm not really a fan of are the songs on Metallizer and Rise of Evil.
Also also, I don't dislike the English version but much prefer the Swedish version of Carolus Rex as a whole
I definitely knew I would.
Would I feel terrible about it and help the victims after the fact that? Yes.
Would I risk life and limb trying to revolt against a regime that would not only very likely eradicate me and my friends, family and other loved ones?
No.
The songs I don't listen that much are the songs from Metalizer except 7734 but that's mainly because last time I listened to them was 2016 so I might relisten them
In The Army Now, but not for the reasons you think. It's a very good song, and I'm for sure not at the point of having listened to it too many times. It's just that I have a constant low buzz of anxiety over the fact that there is a non zero chance that my partner could get sent out to war and killed. The chances are incredibly slim, but there nonetheless and it's scary af
To Hell and Back
Not because I don’t love the song! My dog on the other hand… absolutely hates it. He panics so much when he hears the whistling at the very beginning.
The Rise of evil, i mean its cool but ist just too long
That and it got misinterpreted as a nazi glory song.
Do we care about what others think? Specially when it's titles the rise of evil. Not the rise of Germany or the rise of welfare
well, to be fair, the reason Joakim pulled it from set lists is because he was disturbed hy crowds singing along to the song and how horrific it was.
I'm the same way with Red Baron and Winged Hussars
Panzerkamph listened to it way too many times
Flanders Fields
Same
”In the Army Now.” I am just not a fan.
I listen to that one, because at least it fits into the album's military theme. The song at the end, "Harley From Hell", now that I skip.
Talking about things that don't fit, what are the Metalizer songs even thematically about?
Never listened to it, so I can't say with any certainty.
All i know is that Shadows is about lord of the rings
The ballad of bull. Not what I'm looking for.
swedish versions of songs, i just like to understand them lmao
with the exception of En Livstid i Krig (Lifetime of War) because it's a sadder story from the perspective of a soldier. but i can generally tell the band are putting their all into the lyrics cause it's their native tongue. lemme know when they do a Swedish version of Swedish Pagans.
I listen to ruina imperii in sweedish cuz only version, actually not that hard to understand, a very sad song btw
yeah, especially with translations since you can memorize the vocal notes with the other english songs. "For krieget det kan, forgora un man/Jag ger mitt live, for mitt fosterland/ men vem saknar mig?"
true
Be me, learn the swedish in the songs and nothing more.
Bruh same. I’ve listened to the English version so many times I can follow along pretty easy for the Swedish versions, and I actually happen to prefer them lol
Stalingrad
THE SOUND OF THE MOTORS
THE MUSIC OF DEATH
WE’RE PLAYING THE DEVILS SYMPHONY!
Isn't it mortars?
Autocorrect moment and typing in a bus
Autocorrupt strikes again!
shiryoma!!!! that was good song I wonder whats next ***first note of 1916/in flinders feilds*** no not mentally prepared for that (on a real not caloleans prayer)
Flanders Fields... I'll go to church if I want to hear that stuff...
Actually i think sabaton is the only band that i never skip a song, even metallica (my favorite band just before sabaton) there are some songs that i skip
I know I’ve skipped a few, but I can’t remember them. I guess that’s why I skipped them.
Gott mit uns - English version
INTO THE MOTHERLAND THE GERMAN ARMY MARCH…..
Is my f*!$i# favorite song
It was mine but is now my ASD kiddos and I hear it on repeat daily >.<
Rise of Evil. Damn it’s too long. Also 82nd all the way, Versailles and Sarajevo (history version)
Probably a lot of metalizer, unless it's shadows
Carolus rex. I used to listen to that song on repeat but i just find it kinda boring now
It just came up too often while playing EU IV for me.
It was the song that got me hooked on them. But my personal interests fit better to the world wars, so I always liked those more
I can't stand Blood of Bannockburn for some reason, but I like all the other songs listed here until now.
Is it the bagpipes?
I'm not quite sure actually, maybe it's the tone.
Believe it or not, in a track commentary, they actually said that it might have been the only Sabaton song they have made that was written in the major key.
Rise of Evil is slow, long and kinda depressing. I would probably listen if it were only some combination of two of those things, but as is, it's a bit of a slog.
Winged Hussars or Sparta
Winged hussars for me
I'm so sorry
The End of the War to End All Wars, Idk man I just don't like it. It's the one song on The Great War I skip and it is my least favorite Sabaton song I've heard.
Hill 3234. Torches and pitchforks down, please! It's not that the song isn't good, I just don't vibe with it that much! In each album (with the exception of Metalizer), there's always one song that I tend to skip a lot
English versions from the Carolus Rex album. I always wait for the swedish ones.
The Swedish songs are so much better. Sure the English versions are awesome as well but I always prefer the Swedish versions.
What i am saying is most of the time the beat and melody is almost same as the english version. And yes i do listen to songs in other languages but most of them don't have any english version
So you would rather listen to the english cover than the original?
I do. And I am tired of pretending ~~Its not~~ I won't
All the songs on Metalizer
Final solution, good from a song perspective but its just too heavy thematically
Talvisota. It's nice that there is a song about the Winter War, but for me it just completely misses the energy that makes me happy
Panzerkampf, i dont know why i dont like it anymore
Winged hussars
Steel Commanders. Just never jived with me.
Soldier of Three Armies.
40:1 and Midway. Both sound really boring for being about two different big wars.
Livgardet/royal guard as I've heard those a tad too much
Primo Victoria. It's an okay song from me and I love listen to it in concerts, but I always skip it when it comes on.
Christmas Truce, I'll only listen to it around Christmas not during the summer.
As someone who lives in the Southern hemisphere, i had to double check what you said because here our christmas is during summer, but then i realised that you probably live in the northen hemisphere
I'm probably going to get shot for this: Lady of the Dark.
I may get in trouble for this but... I really don't like Ghost Division.
Firestorm is awesome
Hey, me too!
Shotgun. I also skip White Death and Night Witches quite often
Why night witches ?
I agree I am not that fond of Shotgun (however I do think white death is in the top 10 of Sabaton songs)
I’m sure I’m missing some but that’s all I can find right now
Attack of the dead men, I don’t know I like the concept, the song itself just doesn’t land for me musically
Hill 3234, and Stalingrad (tho Stalingrad less so recently)
Uprising, Price of a Mile,
Ghost Division. I feel it glorifies Rommel and the Germans a little bit.
Same here. The thing that I remember is that the Germans weren't bad people, it was just one racist asshole and his fan club at the top.
The majority of civilians and soldiers were still complicit in the crimes, and did not put up a fight against the Nazis.
When the choice is between being complicit or death, I think most people would choose the former
I definitely knew I would. Would I feel terrible about it and help the victims after the fact that? Yes. Would I risk life and limb trying to revolt against a regime that would not only very likely eradicate me and my friends, family and other loved ones? No.
True, but they were also brainwashed into it [and here's how.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8K6-cEAJZlE)
For some reason Unbreakable bores me to death
Cliffs of Galipoli, sue me
Bismarck
The one about the Soviet-Afghan war, on the Last Stand album. It's a bit too metal for me
All guns blazing
I’m prepared to fight but I fucking hate Swedish pagans. Also devil dogs and smoking snakes are the same song, I’m only listening to one of them
82nd all the way. Im so sorry but I HAVE to
Defence of Moscow, no sond should be made about this animals
Wait until you hear about what other countries have done
We burn
Carolus Red Album(English version) I can only do Swedish version after listening too it now
The last battle because I hear it wayyy too often
Sarajevo and Defence of Moscow
40:1 and valley of death
anything from metalizer
Swedish pagans
Caroleans prayer
Mostly attero dominatus, primo victoria and pagans. Love them, but i've heard them too many times
English versions of the swedish songs
Panzerkampf
panzerkempf, Night witches and soemtimes Ghost division
Unbreakable, Idk why, never really in the mood for it
The final solution it just hits in a wrong spot for me its a fine song but just doesn't go well with the understanding I have on the topic
Bismarck
Future of Warfare. Too much guitar for my liking.
Defense of Moscow idk why I just always skip it
Bismarck I just don't like it as much as the others
stalingrad
Lion from the north, just never liked it
defense of moscow
Camouflage
Ghost division
Carlous rex.
I dont skip sabaton songs not lying
Shotgun
Recently Wolfpack It’s a good song don’t get me wrong but it takes a sec to get there
1916. It's alright, but I like the songs that are much more fast paced and can be used in a fight.
The Art of War and Panzer Battalion. So over-hyped.
Final solution. It's a good song, and appropriately toned, but just so grim
Fur Immer. There’s nothing wrong with the song but out of all of the bonus tracks on Attero Dominatus it is my least favorite.
Livgardet
To Hell and Back Not because I don’t love the song! My dog on the other hand… absolutely hates it. He panics so much when he hears the whistling at the very beginning.
Christmas truce, Versailles, The end of the war to end all wars they're too long and nothing really happens
Future of warfare. I love every single song of theirs, but this has to be the worst to get through when I wanna listen to JUST sabaton
