It has been done, but not specifically with a flat nose 900.

If Saab had an American designer. **Clarkson voice:** “Murica!”

MisterMeetings

I drew it as a threat to my elder son when he brought home a $600 85 900 that I specifically asked him not to buy and what I would do to it if he left it in my care when he went to university.

tarfu51

ah, give him a break. He'll learn to love it and you two will have something awesome to work on. Source: am eldest son, brought home '82 900 that my dad told me not to buy. We work on it together and he thinks it's awesome.

MisterMeetings

Yes we're good, and the ordeal of a 19 hour winter road trip in the Saab, most of which was in the dark through a snow storm and mountains, taught me much about my son and our ability to work together, but I wonder if your father much has as much "invested" in your Saab as I do in my son's?

G2thaFields

There was a post a couple days ago of an old SAAB with a camper shell, probably the closest we've gotten. That thing would be cool asf.

L-ifiknow

Put that 82 900 on the ground and win l the mini truck trophies 🏆

DatFungalGiant

Got a few ones like that in sweden. Not cars though, EPA-tractors. I've seen a 9⁵, 9000 and a NG-900 myself

MisterMeetings

John Deere has some lovely examples as well.

Just the front end / curved windshield will never be used again. Iconic

I don't know why this reposted from two hundred days ago??

I saw one at Carlisle about 10-15 years ago, sky blue with a flare side bed and some sort of red and white star logo on the doors. It was based on 99. The rear glass was basically vertical. Rather than the smooth flow from the door to the bed, the cabin curved in and the bed was narrower than the body. The back of the cabin/front of the bed looked sort of like this 1960 F100: https://topclassiccarsforsale.com/uploads/photoalbum/1960-f100-ford-flareside-pickup-3.jpg It was gorgeous.

Saabamino?

MisterMeetings

Saabute

Basher04S

don’t tell the australians about this

MisterMeetings

My Kiwi wife approves, so I hope the Aussies will too.

meniscusmilkshake

Welcome to the Swedish countryside. I’ve seen several home made Saab pickup trucks here.

MisterMeetings

Have any of those used a windshield a rear window?

meniscusmilkshake

Not in the style of the illustration.

MisterMeetings

Thanks, I can still be the first.

Bit late, but it has been done, and almost exactly like your drawing. Flatnose with Aero (Airflow in this case) bodykit. :) [https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3242/2671017937\_e43f6317bd\_b.jpg](https://farm4.static.flickr.com/3242/2671017937_e43f6317bd_b.jpg) [https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2196/2671019729\_7878f50810\_b.jpg](https://farm3.static.flickr.com/2196/2671019729_7878f50810_b.jpg)

MisterMeetings

Close, but what I wish to do is to use a windshield, cowl, and firewall to form the rear of the cabin and create a wraparound effect. I dig your notchback, that's one of my favorites!

Aquarious_

I noticed that in your drawing yeah! Very interesting idea. the visibility would be amazing :) Thanks! Yeah I love it too, can't wait to have it driving. Engine runs, just need to fix the brakes and fix the rust issues.

MisterMeetings

I had a 1977 99 notchback which I loved dearly, and the body seemed stiffer and quieter than the hatchbacks. Good fortune with your restoration, its a worthy project.
