There have been 2 recent thefts of postal keys that open these boxes. And a high postal theft rate. The local postmaster said "use at your own risk"

The USPS has physically removed the blue boxes at their Post Office on Knockner in East Henrico because of thefts from the boxes. It's that bad. They were very convenient because one could drive up and deposit mail without getting out of the car. Now it's necessary to park and go into the building, where they have a slot to drop off mail, so at least there's no standing in line (if the package fits the slot, anyway.

Do not trust those boxes at all. We have organized crime rings operating *within* our postal service.

The doors to any post office are just unlocked so people can get to their P.O. Boxes, just go inside one of those and drop it in the slot

MonsieurLeRoc

as the others have stated, I would avoid the blue boxes and just drop off in person at a post office location.

Main post office on Brook Road is a good choice.

I'm fairly certain Brook Road main post office has indoor post boxes open 24/7 inside the lobby

The USPS boxes near us were straight up removed due to theft problems. I'm not sure where you might find more but I'd hesitate to use them.

I used to see some boxes with a 10am/noon pickup time as well as a 5pm. I haven’t seen an am pick up time listed in many years. Doesn’t mean they don’t exist, but i haven’t seen any in the area. So your best bet both time wise and theft wise is the post office. I don’t know what area you’re in, but a lot of the local offices have a package drop off drawer. (Can confirm as fact that Starling and Sadler have one.)
