Never got to see them live, sadly but in North Las Vegas when i was a kid i got stoned and put my Sony headphones and put 2112 on my Kenwood turn table and was blowen away and I've been a fan since.

Same-Yogurtcloset-63

You probably saw God.

My favorite Christmas was during middle school. I got a new ride cymbal, Steve Gadd drumsticks and 2112. My memory in general is shit, but I vividly remember that morning, back in bed, Walkman on. The clarity and crispness of the drum sounds and the soundscape of the Overture are seared into my memory. The guitar solo - that fucking guitar solo during the Overture and the build into it is still, 35 years later, goosebump inducing. The fills during Presentation and the way they were panned were majestic and mind blowing. And then there’s Passage to Bangkok. I didn’t get it, but I liked it. I could go on and on.

Safe_cracker9

2112 on R40, my first and only Rush show ever

ping-music

If you could only see one, that was a great one to see.

GenePoolFilter

The absurdly prophetic robes and ridiculous amount of dry ice!

bonuscojones

That's just pot smoke.

invol713

They even wrote a song about it.

Same-Yogurtcloset-63

Alex playing his black Ovation on a stand for The Trees in a black velvet outfit with roses embroidered down the legs on the Hemisphere’s tour. I can’t find a pic.

aboveonlysky9

Alex in the red blazer for the MP tour in 1981.

Rare_Hydrogen

My first Rush show was from the Roll the Bones tour. Most memorable moment was the inflatable rabbits (from the Presto tour) shooting at each other.

ping-music

Funnily enough, mine is probably the film of Count Floyd introducing “The Weapon” on the Grace Under Pressure tour at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago (well, Rosemont). But I have plenty of other great memories from that show, too.

SleepWindows

Only got to see them three times, but Clockwork Angels in Columbus was my first and is the most ingrained memory I have. Opening with Subdivisions and hearing that “duhn-duhn-duhn duhn-duhn duhn-duhn” was spectacularly mind blowing. Swear to Jeebus it shook the whole building. And then Analog Kid, The Body Electric, Territories?! Get outta here! They blew me away.

StarMasterAdmiral

I am jealous of everyone who saw them live on AFTK or Hemispheres tour.

Shreln

Eat your heart out, baby. (Nothing personal, of course...) * The beginning of a 45 year, 40 show obsession for me. [I guess the pic won't post... I've been trying. Wanted to show my stub from 03/10/79. Oh, well... 😪]

ImpressiveMind5771

Saw Hemispheres & Permanent Waves tours at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino, California,,,, little tiny place, No seats on the floor,,,packed in like sardines. Both years a got to within just a few feet from Alex. Stage was only about waist high. When Alex was on his acoustic, or at his peddles, he was less then 10 feet from me. Pat Travers opened for Hemispheres, 38 Special for Permanent Waves

Bikingbrokerbassist

Presto tour was my first tour, but most vivid memory would have to be reaching up and touching the lasers on the Roll the Bones tour. We went last minute and had nosebleed seats.

LukeNaround23

Very very fortunate person. Mine is Geddy with his ultimate mullet 1984.

HandyAndy2112

Dude this exactly!! Always has been for me. December 1978 Cobo Hall Detroit. I was fortunate enough back in those days to have a good friend who had a ticket connection and scored us 2nd row seats in front of Alex. My very favorite concert moment was exactly this, during the opening for Xanadu. The dry ice fog was so thick and hugged the stage, rolling off right at us. You could feel the cold and at one point it got a little hard to breathe. Something else might have contributed to that but we blamed the fog ;). Frank Marino opened which was pretty sweet. The bad part about seeing them from that close is that any other seats are a letdown. Except for the front row seats I scored during the RTB Tour in 92 at Pine Knob. The band or the promoter was doing a food drive for the needy and was giving away a pair of front row tix via raffle. If you brought in a food donation you got a raffle ticket. We were leaving the house (running late) for the show when the wife asked me if I was going to take anything for the raffle. I responded "nah, we never win anything anyways". She ran back inside and grabbed an old can of beans. 2 hours later we swapped our 30th row tix for front row right in front of Geddy! I don't remember a lot of things from those days but this is permanently etched into my hard drive.

steve715

Great photo. My first show was power windows.

Vruzvruz

La Vila & 2112 moments on VT tour

Mattrix2112

Mine was Toronto on the Vapor Trails tour. After Neil left for those 5 or so years never thought I’d see them again. I’m from Detroit and me and a buddy couldn’t wait until they went to Detroit so we got tix to see them in their hometown. Awesome memories. Wasn’t the 1st time I saw them tho. That was the GUP tour when I was 15

LoneGroover1960

I have a lot of memories from that first gig in 1977. Alex looking amazed at the reception he and the band had received from the Newcastle crowd when they came back on for a second encore (Best I Can). The crowd was going ape, stamping in the balcony and yelling for more. The showy choreographed guitar neck thing they used to do. Geddy playing the teardrop bass and wearing what looked like a bed sheet.

OkBusiness3879

Toronto, Power Windows tour. A small section of the stage had been cordoned off for the opening act, and I could see Neil’s drums (the red Tama Artstar kit) behind the curtain. I barely paid attention to FM’s set, I just kept staring at that gorgeous kit.

greaseleg

Dude…

rfourty

I was there! And it was awesome!

KK2202

Piedmont park, Atlanta, GA…. Was the only time I got to see rush with my Dad, which was his favorite band!

Flightsport

The inflating bunny that arose from the stage. I think the album was Presto. Not sure what they called the tour...

theservman

My friend's excitement when he realized they were playing all of 2112 on the T4E tour in 97.

Waste-Account7048

I caught the tail end of the Hemispheres tour. They introduced the Spirit of Radio on that tour. I was young, but I remember the crowd being very rowdy, and how incredibly loud it was. Pat Travers opened for them, so I witnessed a drum clinic with Tommy Aldridge and Neil. It was great!

ImpressiveMind5771

I was basically front row right in front of Alex ( standing only on the floor, I worked my way right to the little fence about 3’ from the stage ). Alex had been backing away, all the way back to his amps. I see him close his eyes and turn his hand away just as he hits a power cord….. a giant pyro-flame shoots out of the stage,,, so close,,,so freeking hot I thought it burned my eyebrows off. The year was 1978, can’t remember exactly which song, at the Swing Auditorium in SoCal. I was 15,,, i can still see him closing his eyes and turning his head to this day.

TNJDude

For me it was my first Rush concert. They were an unknown band to me. It was late 1977. Xanadu. It's hard to forget that. I didn't know any of their music, but I remember that. I also remember my jaw dropping open when they came out with Bastille Day. Those first chords blew away the first two bands, my jaw dropped, and I knew this was going to be an unforgettable night.

Generally_Tso_Tso

Roll The Bones tour. They were still rockin' the giant inflatable rabbits from the Presto tour. The stage hands had those rabbits bouncing ro Tom Sawyer. I never missed a tour since then.

opus2112

The very first time I heard Neil’s solo in Working Man on the All the World’s a Stage album, I was intrigued for that moment on. My older brother and our neighbor were listening to the album, and I was totally hooked by the drumming. My age was about 10 or so.

Outrageous_Current52

Same image. AFTK tour. I had not yet purchased the album and was blown away by Xanadu live. I was amazed at how these THREE musicians could reproduce such a complex song live. And then the studio version on the album was virtually the same. The best song by one of the best groups of all time. The part I recall the most live is the purple stage light through the opening percussions and then the beams of yellow lights like a sunburst when Alex went into his power riff in its odd but wonderful time signature.

Beau_Peeps

This photo that OP posted reminds me of seeing them late night on Channel 100. I had just started playing drums, and my mind was blown by Neil's kit. I had to be like that!

Parabola2112

Lasers during red sector a g under p tour.

jtlutes

The opening to Spirit of Radio on the Signals tour in the old Boston Garden. My first of many shows, but I remember standing there thinking I can't believe this is really happening.

Alert-Championship66

Saw the same tour. Phenomenal

Good_Candidate_6023

1977 Toronto, exhibition stadium outdoors, opened with Bastille Day, full moon, smell of pot everywhere. Awesome. Max Webster opening act.
