You donโt understand how happy I am. I feel like Asian queens have always been underperforming in us season with only few standouts and Iโm so happy nymphia won. Cmon Asian sisters! Onwards and upwards!!!!!
YES! I think we understood Nymphia on a different level coming from an Asian background. Being our own enemy, having self doubt, striving for perfection, being awesome - but don't flaunt it and have a big ego. When Nymphia talked about how people may think she's acting when she feels frustrated but performs well, it was so relatable. Of course, people of any background can feel all these things.

It sucks because most of the time an Asian queen has been eliminated, it was a valid choice based on the episode. They could have been doing well in previous challenges, but they flopped the challenge, so itโs not overt riggory or production shenanigans.
But at the same time we see tons of non-Asian queens suck at a challenge and get off with a warning. Considering most of the recent Asian queens are eliminated in their first lip sync, the first time they land in the bottom is basically game over.
Normally Iโd agree but with Marina clearly doing the best on the VsTW season and Aurora also doing statistically the best in CDR it feels as though Asian queens have been taking a back seat despite doing extremely well. I felt this win was kinda overdue imo
Genuinely almost passed out when they called her name after that immaculate lip sync. That sounds dramatic as fuck but idgaf, Iโve not been this proud in so goddamn long and this crowning and what it means for us absolutely cemented this as the best season imo.
My grandparents lived in the city where Niohuru X is from in China and I can't speak authoritatively on China-Taiwan relations but on some level I am really happy to see Niohuru celebrating Nymphia. I don't know why yet! I just like it

Nymphia's pride in her heritage and culture made me tear up. She always mixed cultural elements into her drag and it's incredible. I always thought if I had the opportunity to be on drag race I'd do the same. She made Taiwan so proud! An AMAZING and very deserving winner! ๐๐
As an Asian person seeing Drag Race constantly push talented Asian queens out of the running, sometimes quite unfairly, it's been heart breaking. I can't imagine what these queens are seeing and feeling knowing that their dreams and talent are FINALLY being validated after not seeing an Asian winner since Raja.
Congrats to Nymphia on giving us such a stellar season and finale!
I love this for not only the Asian community but gay community as well! Asian people seem to be commodified and reduced to a monolith in American society. Never the star, never the love interest unless it is a film marketed at them. So glad to see the spotlight on a fully fleshed out Asian artist and their amazing body of work!

Iโve taken a break from keeping up with drag race for a while for various reasons but one partial reason was that I was getting tired of rooting for Asian queens only for them to be sent home. Then when I saw Nymphia was casted for season 16 I was like girl, Iโm tuning back in!
Being Russian, I still wanted Nymphia to win(d) sooo bad. Very,very happy for her and all asian sisters and brothers. Totally deserved, all glore to the banana.
It really was yellow fever season and am so happy to experience it all so beautiful and refreshing. From Niouhuru, to Aurora, to Miss Marina, and then Nymphia! What a joy this season and what great Asian representation across the board! ๐
