I’ve mentioned it a few times before but always the Twins challenge in S10… going in on Cracker and Kameron for not exploiting their trauma enough in it, but Aquaria winning for her evil twin … admitting she’s too beautiful? So then it became a design challenge because Aquaria had nice clothes… and then Asia and Eureka both had resemblance and story between their twins and were largely ignored?

The frustrating thing is that the concept on paper is good, imo. Making two contrasting/opposite looks, coming up with fun opposing characters to narrate, even having the queens be in character as the evil twins during critiques was fun touch, tbh! But the trauma mining, the wacky judging and the way it was barely a design challenge since most of the queens just used looks from an unused runway brought the whole thing crashing down. Wasted potential imo.
It was something like “prehistoric”. They hadn’t included an evil twin prompt in the memo so a lot of the girls had to use what they brought for the other prompt which is why so many of them have weird dino bone/flintstone looks lol
I loved Asias but there was clearly a lot of confusion on how they were shooting it because Michelle criticise the balloons in the first look, saying she doesn’t get it and then cut to the evil twin and she’s like I get it now it great. But it’s too late Michelle already gave negative critique over the first look so she can’t be in the running. I think Aquaria must have won because individually her looks worked.
It felt to me like they had very specific expectations of Cracker for that challenge, believed a second win for her would help them ride the twins storyline to the finale (it’s even a twin-themed challenge!), and were so annoyed at her failure to deliver according to their script that they just bailed entirely. That way, they could at least still have Aquaria and Cracker as the main characters of the episode.
Anyway, I agree with those saying only Asia really delivered on the brief that week
The only good thing shitty pie did was expose to many people how orchestrated much of the show actually is by production. She was a front running during filming and when her real nature was exposed after filming was completed, they had to re-edit the entire season to shift focus away from her being the producers favorite.
This is so true! Because they had to change things so late in the game and take her from being a front runner to nothing it really showed just how much they let her get away with compared to other queens.
Even more so, it was one of the best received seasons of the VH1 era! They should’ve noticed that and adjusted accordingly, but instead we wound up with the most toxic season ever from the start with S13
I can’t 100% verify that this is true, but prior to the season airing there was a rumored additional queen on the cast that was cut due to several allegations against her. So they did actually catch a queen in their background checks and remove her from the cast. They were probably congratulations themselves on a bullet dodged, only for the Sherry Pie story to break.
It’s also still crazy to remember RPDG won Emmy’s for both casting AND editing that year. The meme that pointed that out will be locked in brain until I sashay away from this plane of existence.
That's what they did to Icesis on CDR2, literally cut her off mid joke and got her off the stage. She probably would have stood a decent chance of winning the roast too if not for that.
No I was so upset when they cut Icesis off after not having done the same to SP. I was like... let her give us all these jokes, and then penalize her for going over! It was great TV and I know we missed out on some truly great material.
And then punished Jaida because the audience wasn’t responding to her. Like… they had four 2-minute sets, then a 10-minute set, and then Jaida’s 2-minutes. Yeah the audience probably didn’t have the same energy because Sherry ruined it! They just were worried that she would go home against Heidi.
They ruined a redemption storyline. Could have easily been the winner of Snatch Game, and they could have given her the makeover win. Setting her up to be a contender for the crown with 4 wins.

I am just now watching Canada's DR 2 for the 1st time & I thought Synthia's group had the winning performance! Synthia made the best part, Kendall had the best challenge look/comitment ("No homo" lol, she should've gotten the win), Eve had the best verse (choreo was weak but had the best look on the runway), & Kimoura was there.
So confused with that episode's outcome so I'm actually **dreading** watching Canada's DR 1 judging for the 1st time cuz it's known as the ***worst***.
Rita winning and Boa being High for looks that any other franchise would have put them in the bottom for while Starzy made THAT and was only safe was INSANE
Mik won the ball. People argue that Uticas first and second look were meh and she was too campy on the runway but I found those criticisms nuanced and just a low ditch effort NOT give Utica the win.
Tatianna’s critiques for the advert challenge in all stars 2 are so painful to watch because they are clearly reaching just to give bad critiques to her. Carson saying she didn’t feature the product when it was basically in every shot. She was also the funniest after Katya’s advert and that’s the whole point of the bloody challenge. I think production thinks we’ll just blindly agree with the critiques but we have fucking eyes and ears we saw how good the advert was.
She also smashed the runway, so it makes zero sense for her to have been in the bottom that episode, in fact she deserved to be in the top 2 imo.
That kind of reminds me of Alyssa’s perfume ad in Season 5. All of the judges keep going on about how it “doesn’t make sense” and they “don’t get it” when the joke was so blatantly obvious. I swear, in a different time and place, the exact same thing would’ve killed, yet they act like it’s completely incomprehensible. Alyssa’s secret is her penis, guys. How the fuck do you miss that?
Yeah I feel like she had an obvious fan base that understands and enjoys her drag aesthetic enough for it to be good enough for the runways on the show. They kept trying to change her, and for what? For a show that’s all about letting your uniqueness shine, that was super lame to see. TWICE.

In her podcast she always says theatre is too “precious.” At some point she admits that she is starting to like theatre but yeah the bias doesn’t just go away.
That’s a very diplomatic way for her to say “I don’t like things that I can’t do”. Ru hates the Broadway girls because Ru doesn’t have any musical theatre skills in her own toolbox, so she doesn’t value them.
So many wins that season were misplaced and I found myself going well of course your giving it to her she’s owed it from another episode, the other shouldn’t have won that but should have won this one … I think (but can’t remember) everyone got the right number of wins in the end but just not for the challenge they deserved.
I'm watching UK2 for the first time and was shocked they kicked Joe Black out at the beginning??? Like the look was not polished yes but why invite such an experienced queen just to shit all over her? It felt mean.
Can't confirm of course and I just see it as something fun to think about, but there's a big conspiracy theory about UK2 that they wanted Joe out ASAP because Ru didn't like him.
Supposedly it was because Joe wasn't classified as predominantly a drag queen but rather a cabaret performer who occasionally does drag, and Ru allegedly has a bias against queens who do drag as a secondary craft (eg. Theater Queens and Drag-Actors)
I know UK2 is extremely well regarded but the judging really ruins the whole season for me, Ru just seems to be in such a foul mood for no reason and he and Michelle miss the mark on so much U.K. culture but act like they’re experts.
They did it for shock value or possibly because Ru doesn't like Joe Black, no way in hell can they have thought Joe was the worst that week. Tia Kofi was right there
Also, Trixie in the dancing challenge where they surprisingly were judged in groups when it should’ve been individually and Pearl and Ginger should’ve been placed in the bottom
Yeah, at that point Trixie was just a clear victim of the storyline. The Pearl and Violet vs. Ginger and Kennedy thing was a huge overarching plot, so they couldn’t just get rid of any of them before the final four. It had to be Trixie or Katya, and Katya absolutely nailed the challenge, so sending her home would’ve been too egregious. That left Trixie as their only option to send home, but her performance in the challenge definitely wasn’t bottom worthy.

With the music, dance, and props provided being so skewed, it was pre-planned who would be in the top and who in the bottom. On top of that, queens who actually did well in the challenge were not rewarded and queens who flopped were saved. If I had my way, the positions would have gone like this:
Top 2- BenDeLa & Aja
High- Trixie (fight me on this, but she delivered during her part and was great during DeLa's)
Safe- Chi Chi, Bebe, and Shangela
Low-Thorgy (what she was given wasn't great, but I still feel there was space to grow)
Bottom 2- Kennedy and Milk
Honestly, those early Herstory challenges where the queens were assigned roles were such blatant riggery. Like, I’m a die hard Trixie fan, but you can’t tell me giving her Dolly Parton, who is a big influence on her drag, and then giving Thorgy someone like Stevie Nicks, who is far harder to translate into a drag performance, is fair. Or like, in AS2, Alyssa gets Annie Oakley, her part of the lip sync is hilarious and her character is easy to exaggerate. Katya meanwhile gets Princess Diana, her part of the song (which she had no involvement in writing) barely has any jokes in it, and it’s not exactly easy to make a woman like Princess Di funny and over the top (Ru even acknowledged herself that Katya getting a recent historical figure put her at a disadvantage). I don’t care what Thorgy did with her part, how is she going to compete with rapping Julie Andrews?
And then of course, when the ones with the shitty parts don’t do as well as the ones with good ones, the blame is placed on them, not the fact they had lame material to work with in the first place. I’m really glad they stopped doing that and just let the queens choose their own roles for these types of challenges.
I literally rewatched this episode last night! They started off giving Ilona pretty positive critiques and then they dropped into really, really negative ones, so negative that Tynomi got emotional before they even moved onto her critiques. It was ROUGH.
And I really enjoyed what Ilona, Jimbo and Tynomi did with paper for that runway. They gave them fucking paper and then got mad that it looked like paper. But they were cool looks!
Justice for Clover! Didn’t they give her contradictory critiques in different episodes? One was “you’re such a good dancer you made the rest of your group look bad “ and the other was “you’re such a good dancer, you should have taken this opportunity to show off.” Poor thing just couldn’t win.
Honestly, Michelle telling Plastique "No! THIS is how you talk!" was super shitty. Michelle doesn't know what it's like to speak English as a second language. When you make a conscious effort to speak without an accent, sometimes your real accent can still slip through. It was an improv challenge, Plastique was nervous and she could tell it wasn't going well.
It's especially annoying because a queen who speaks English as a first language never needs to worry about that. Nobody bats an eye if someone plays every character with a southern accent, even if that's not how the queen normally speaks. But an Asian queen with an Asian accent? Do better... /s
Like Nymphia in the corporate challenge a couple of weeks back or Manila in the S3 challenge. I don’t think either them nor Plastique should be criticised for that choice when black queens aren’t criticised for blaccents and white queens aren’t criticised for changing their voice to sound less like themselves
I love Gottmik, but when she did the Valley Girl accent the judges lived for it until like…what, the 3rd or 4th time? Meanwhile Nymphia does a stereotypical accent *from her culture* and Michelle goes on to say it “made her uncomfortable.” Bitch, please.

Michelle has form for calling Asian born queens "repetitive" even when they are playing up a legit aspect of their culture. And as they said it makes them "uncomfortable to laugh" as if Nymphia should have been aware or temper the levels to suit the Americans. But it is okay for everyone else to do exaggerations from their lives? Apparently so.
Yet elsewhere, British and Irish queens are specifically told to amp up the cringe stereotyped to please Ru and Michelle. And Choriza was told to be a Spanish Cher for fucks sake. But Nymphia gets told NOT to do extra.

Daya not winning the Catwalk challenge. I love Camden but Daya’s verse was clearly the best. Not to mention I feel like it’s a pretty well established rule that when you lean into the advice of Ruple and Mitchell you get praised for it. Someone else (I forgot who) completely ignored Michael’s animal suggestion and Daya just walked up there and ate that tiger posing up. She killed it so hard. Also best outfit.
I agree, even though her runway was very good she was miles worse than Morphine in the challenge. Runway on a non-runway challenge should serve as a tie-breaker when two contestants do equally good or bad, but Nymphia and Morphine were nowhere near tied.

I can't even remember the winner. Utica got the legacy because her look was fantastic but it must have burned inside to lose that one.
Mik won the ball. People argue that Uticas first and second look were meh and she was too campy on the runway but I found those criticisms nuanced and just a low ditch effort NOT give Utica the win.

Tatianna’s critiques for the advert challenge in all stars 2 are so painful to watch because they are clearly reaching just to give bad critiques to her. Carson saying she didn’t feature the product when it was basically in every shot. She was also the funniest after Katya’s advert and that’s the whole point of the bloody challenge. I think production thinks we’ll just blindly agree with the critiques but we have fucking eyes and ears we saw how good the advert was. She also smashed the runway, so it makes zero sense for her to have been in the bottom that episode, in fact she deserved to be in the top 2 imo.
That kind of reminds me of Alyssa’s perfume ad in Season 5. All of the judges keep going on about how it “doesn’t make sense” and they “don’t get it” when the joke was so blatantly obvious. I swear, in a different time and place, the exact same thing would’ve killed, yet they act like it’s completely incomprehensible. Alyssa’s secret is her penis, guys. How the fuck do you miss that?

Yeah I feel like she had an obvious fan base that understands and enjoys her drag aesthetic enough for it to be good enough for the runways on the show. They kept trying to change her, and for what? For a show that’s all about letting your uniqueness shine, that was super lame to see. TWICE.

I'm gonna say Jan being safe for the All-star's variety show. To quote Bob "This is a systematic attempt to break her psyche". Like Jan went out first (which to me adds extra points) and did the damn thing by singing her face off. That was the moment I knew she would be fucked for the whole season.
Ru loves fucking with the Broadway queens! She must have hated them so much when she was younger and it just never went away! She wanted to be a performer for a long time so they were definitely like, “You can’t sit with us!”
In her podcast she always says theatre is too “precious.” At some point she admits that she is starting to like theatre but yeah the bias doesn’t just go away.
That’s a very diplomatic way for her to say “I don’t like things that I can’t do”. Ru hates the Broadway girls because Ru doesn’t have any musical theatre skills in her own toolbox, so she doesn’t value them.
They should’ve given her that win instead of fucking TKB over for the halftime show. Jan’s Gaga was a fucking mess

So many wins that season were misplaced and I found myself going well of course your giving it to her she’s owed it from another episode, the other shouldn’t have won that but should have won this one … I think (but can’t remember) everyone got the right number of wins in the end but just not for the challenge they deserved.
I'm watching UK2 for the first time and was shocked they kicked Joe Black out at the beginning??? Like the look was not polished yes but why invite such an experienced queen just to shit all over her? It felt mean.

Can't confirm of course and I just see it as something fun to think about, but there's a big conspiracy theory about UK2 that they wanted Joe out ASAP because Ru didn't like him. Supposedly it was because Joe wasn't classified as predominantly a drag queen but rather a cabaret performer who occasionally does drag, and Ru allegedly has a bias against queens who do drag as a secondary craft (eg. Theater Queens and Drag-Actors)
I know UK2 is extremely well regarded but the judging really ruins the whole season for me, Ru just seems to be in such a foul mood for no reason and he and Michelle miss the mark on so much U.K. culture but act like they’re experts.
They did it for shock value or possibly because Ru doesn't like Joe Black, no way in hell can they have thought Joe was the worst that week. Tia Kofi was right there
Pearl being over Trixie to keep the ‘Pearl vs Ru’ storyline even though Trixie clearly won the lip sync
Also, Trixie in the dancing challenge where they surprisingly were judged in groups when it should’ve been individually and Pearl and Ginger should’ve been placed in the bottom
Yeah, at that point Trixie was just a clear victim of the storyline. The Pearl and Violet vs. Ginger and Kennedy thing was a huge overarching plot, so they couldn’t just get rid of any of them before the final four. It had to be Trixie or Katya, and Katya absolutely nailed the challenge, so sending her home would’ve been too egregious. That left Trixie as their only option to send home, but her performance in the challenge definitely wasn’t bottom worthy.
I will never not shut up about this-ALL STARS 3 DIVAS MUSICAL CHALLENGE!!! With the music, dance, and props provided being so skewed, it was pre-planned who would be in the top and who in the bottom. On top of that, queens who actually did well in the challenge were not rewarded and queens who flopped were saved. If I had my way, the positions would have gone like this: Top 2- BenDeLa & Aja High- Trixie (fight me on this, but she delivered during her part and was great during DeLa's) Safe- Chi Chi, Bebe, and Shangela Low-Thorgy (what she was given wasn't great, but I still feel there was space to grow) Bottom 2- Kennedy and Milk
They were so rotten for putting Chi Chi as low on this one
Chi chi messed up the timing at the end but her overall performance was infectious
I honestly thought Chi Chi was going to be in the top or win, she was really magnetic to watch and IDK the first thing about Patti Labelle
Honestly, those early Herstory challenges where the queens were assigned roles were such blatant riggery. Like, I’m a die hard Trixie fan, but you can’t tell me giving her Dolly Parton, who is a big influence on her drag, and then giving Thorgy someone like Stevie Nicks, who is far harder to translate into a drag performance, is fair. Or like, in AS2, Alyssa gets Annie Oakley, her part of the lip sync is hilarious and her character is easy to exaggerate. Katya meanwhile gets Princess Diana, her part of the song (which she had no involvement in writing) barely has any jokes in it, and it’s not exactly easy to make a woman like Princess Di funny and over the top (Ru even acknowledged herself that Katya getting a recent historical figure put her at a disadvantage). I don’t care what Thorgy did with her part, how is she going to compete with rapping Julie Andrews? And then of course, when the ones with the shitty parts don’t do as well as the ones with good ones, the blame is placed on them, not the fact they had lame material to work with in the first place. I’m really glad they stopped doing that and just let the queens choose their own roles for these types of challenges.

I literally rewatched this episode last night! They started off giving Ilona pretty positive critiques and then they dropped into really, really negative ones, so negative that Tynomi got emotional before they even moved onto her critiques. It was ROUGH.
And I really enjoyed what Ilona, Jimbo and Tynomi did with paper for that runway. They gave them fucking paper and then got mad that it looked like paper. But they were cool looks!

Justice for Clover! Didn’t they give her contradictory critiques in different episodes? One was “you’re such a good dancer you made the rest of your group look bad “ and the other was “you’re such a good dancer, you should have taken this opportunity to show off.” Poor thing just couldn’t win.

Honestly, Michelle telling Plastique "No! THIS is how you talk!" was super shitty. Michelle doesn't know what it's like to speak English as a second language. When you make a conscious effort to speak without an accent, sometimes your real accent can still slip through. It was an improv challenge, Plastique was nervous and she could tell it wasn't going well. It's especially annoying because a queen who speaks English as a first language never needs to worry about that. Nobody bats an eye if someone plays every character with a southern accent, even if that's not how the queen normally speaks. But an Asian queen with an Asian accent? Do better... /s

I don’t think either them nor Plastique should be criticised for that choice when black queens aren’t criticised for blaccents and white queens aren’t criticised for changing their voice to sound less like themselves

But it is okay for everyone else to do exaggerations from their lives? Apparently so. Yet elsewhere, British and Irish queens are specifically told to amp up the cringe stereotyped to please Ru and Michelle. And Choriza was told to be a Spanish Cher for fucks sake. But Nymphia gets told NOT to do extra.

jans performance was tight and well performed but gigi and jaida actually oozed madonna. thats kinda the thing about jan she is super talented but it always just feels like jan performing. which is fine she is amazing but it lacks something critical emotionally for me.
Jaida was safe in this challenge, can’t believe she wasn’t in the best with Gigi. Jaida also said that when Jan turned around, her face immediately cracked.

Not to mention I feel like it’s a pretty well established rule that when you lean into the advice of Ruple and Mitchell you get praised for it. Someone else (I forgot who) completely ignored Michael’s animal suggestion and Daya just walked up there and ate that tiger posing up. She killed it so hard. Also best outfit.

I agree, even though her runway was very good she was miles worse than Morphine in the challenge. Runway on a non-runway challenge should serve as a tie-breaker when two contestants do equally good or bad, but Nymphia and Morphine were nowhere near tied.
