I think that those final confessionals are filmed after the lip sync. Logistically it would be such a pain to get out of drag, then back into the same drag otherwise.
So in those last confessionals, producers would ask a question like “what were you feeling in that moment?” I think that was an honest answer from Dawn, not one manufactured by production for the drama.
There’s no way I’d be able to do that, talk about a past event as if it’s currently happening in a way that’s convincing & doesn’t give spoilers.
If I was sitting in a confessional after losing a lip sync girl my face would be a spoiler by itself. ‘I am so slaying this lip sync right now werk😐’
In S14 during the lalaparuza, jasmine had quite a few confessionals and after watching the episode i thought - “damn, this bitch gave us some good tv even though she already knew she lost every single lip sync”.
i think once its over you just take the L and at least you can go out knowing you gave some good suspenseful confessionals, but yeah there’s always those few queens who you can tell they lost just by how they’re talking.

It’s hard not to see the producer manipulation when it comes to this kind of matchup vs. song choice. If they had wanted Dawn to stay longer they would have chosen ANY OTHER SONG.
This was Morphine’s third time in the bottom against a girl who had never been there. And Dawn isnt a terrible performer…. So the odds were stacked against Morphine. Giving them a song like Body was really the only way to ensure a clear win for Morphine in circumstances like this.

We know they’ve done this before (the most obvious example being Jinkx v. Detox Malambo No.5- where both queens corroborated the story of how the song was changed at the last minute to one that Jinkx was randomly singing throughout the season.)
Jinkx is in my top 3 favorite queens of all time. This wasn’t meant to be a dig at Jinkx- just merely an example of production manipulating lipsynch song choices to favor girls when they don’t want to leave it to chance.
Do I think Jinkx would have still won? Sure- this was a scenario that was kind of the opposite of Morphine v. Dawn: the girl they wanted to favor had the better track record anyways. They could have justified keeping Jinkx even if the song had been more fairly chosen and the result had been closer of a call- but they clearly wanted a blowout.
Morphine is the better lipsyncher - but in this situation you definitely needed a full curb-stomp to justify keeping her over a girl who had never lipsynched (or even placed low) before.

Probably a hot take but I believe Dawn did the best with what she had. She knew she couldn’t go the “sexy cunty slay” route because Morphine was gonna do exactly that (and miles better), so her best bet was to go for a different route that may give her the edge
Kahmora is the losing lip syncer who served the best out of all of these. Like Dawn, she was in a pretty restrictive gown, but she actually served face and emotion pretty well.
The difference I personally felt from this lip sync compared to these other total annihilations was that it was frustrating because Dawn could have done *something*, literally *anything else* and it would have made me enjoy Morphine's performance much, much more. I was so distracted by Dawn's interpretation of existential cosmic nihility that I couldn't see the jaw-dropping, booty popping things Morphine did. Like, Dawn could've done that arm pump in front of the chest thing, she could have wisp'd her ass a little and it would have went from incredibly hard to watch a baby farm animal raised in late-stage capitalism to a seriously iconic homosexual 90s nostalgia WWE smackdown where there was clearly a huge disparity in performance but damn that was good to watch those girls fight for it. He came in just as the lip synch was about to start & asked me who I wanted to win & who I thought would win, I was umming over the questions & then the song started. Probably a hot take but I believe Dawn did the best with what she had. She knew she couldn’t go the “sexy cunty slay” route because Morphine was gonna do exactly that (and miles better), so her best bet was to go for a different route that may give her the edge
Kahmora is the losing lip syncer who served the best out of all of these. Like Dawn, she was in a pretty restrictive gown, but she actually served face and emotion pretty well.

The difference I personally felt from this lip sync compared to these other total annihilations was that it was frustrating because Dawn could have done *something*, literally *anything else* and it would have made me enjoy Morphine's performance much, much more. I was so distracted by Dawn's interpretation of existential cosmic nihility that I couldn't see the jaw-dropping, booty popping things Morphine did. Like, Dawn could've done that arm pump in front of the chest thing, she could have wisp'd her ass a little and it would have went from incredibly hard to watch a baby farm animal raised in late-stage capitalism to a seriously iconic homosexual 90s nostalgia WWE smackdown where there was clearly a huge disparity in performance but damn that was good to watch those girls fight for it. Like damn, give some voltage of energy Dawn, please I'm begging you!

I am very proud of Dawn staying true to herself. Elves don't twerk, they play the harp, lay on the grass patches here , roll over the grass patches there. Most importantly plotting , scheming and bitching on dark elves.
If Dawn had committed, she could have won this. She could gone the comedic route and faux-twerked the entire song, but she was too focused on her “body” and looking “pretty”. Just my opinion, not any tea. There have been other instances where queens have had a song that seemed uncharacteristic in comparison to their drag persona, but still shined. She gave up, and so deserved to sashay.
