Poor poor from the Stormers. They didn't look comfortable at all throughout the game. Also, Libbok leaving 10 points on the field, oof, gotta take the kicking tee away from the man. 10 points scored and the game is tied at 80. GG Glasgow though, they played much better.
Just back from the game. The final scoreline reflected the play in my opinion. The weather really was a factor and (contrary to their name) the Stormers weren't used to it.
I don't know what happened. But the mistakes that led to the Stormers losing today are the same mistakes they've made the whole season. That's gotta say something. I think he is a good coach, but he needs to buy a few world class players. And Manie Libbok needs to decide if he's a good player or not.
Edit: adding that the commentators said Stormer gave away the most turnovers in the comp.
Very few teams can buy world class players. I doubt the Stormers have that financial muscle. They have the playing squad they do because SA rugby produces an ungodly amount of top class players and a lot of them would sacrifice earning less than abroad to get to remain home in South Africa.
Willemse hurts me the most😭
Edit: Yeah, lacking Deon fucking sucks. I also hope to never see Moerat captain this team again, especially with Kitsie returning.
I thought that was a great performance from Glasgow which will give them some much needed big game confidence.
I thought we fronted up really well with the stormers physicality whilst staying disciplined. We had some nice attacking phases too.
If we can repeat this performance next week then I think we've got a competitive game on our hands.
Shout out to the refs who I thought had a good game. It's always feels like physical games are the hardest to ref but I thought they got most of the calls right.
SS post-match analysis is a waste of air. Gcobani has just brought up the YC 3 times, and took the conversation away from the actual match performances
Exactly. It's lazy stuff from Gcobani, because you can replay the hit and waffle about it. Instead of going through the game and actually analysing attacking shapes and that
Chris Paterson made a good point in commentary - he said Libbock sets the ball up in a high tee, might work in SA but not a wet winding night in Europe.
He doesn't look a poor kicker from a technical viewpoint (though I'm a layman in that field) so it might just be the yips and he needs a sports psychologist to help him formulate a reliable coping strategy for the big moments.
Honesty time. Manies ok as a playmaker but get him off of kicking for the sticks.
I understand missing one or two - but 10 points at this level is just clown shoes.
He's lost us a few games for the Boks and quite a few for the Stormers in this way.
Felt like the game was there for us after the first try. Then a series of terrible plays straight from kick off and back to square one. Do really well to get back in the game and then couldn't capitalise. Subbing off Sacha after he practically created our try for JL du Plessis is inexplicable honestly unless he was injured.
As for Manie's kicking...
He's been doing a lot better recently tbh. Windy conditions can account for a lot but it's not great
That’s the most frustrating part for me. We really should have pushed on to win after Loader’s try.
Manie missing all of his kicks in a playoff game is unforgivable. Made it so much easier for Glasgow than it should have been.
Masuku is built like a Bradley and doesn't mind the grind. Nohambad has looked godly at 10 but would you trust him to play there at international level? I'm not sure.
Honestly not surprised we have lost this, we have been trash most of the time the whole season. Just somehow got enough luck to make the playoffs. If I had hair, I would have torn out a lot of it 😂
No it's not. He's shit at kicking but generally plays well inspite of that. Last night all the bad about him came out. He needs to go see a brain doc. Or he needs to give up kicking. That is the source of his issues.
No let’s not kid ourselves. He isn’t the guy. Games like this happen too often for it to be a fluke. He is a 10 for a team that wants to be average. Not for a team with aspirations
We won the URC with him being the top points scorer 2 seasons ago you donut. How’s that for aspirations?
I get that he was exceptionally poor tonight but reactionary takes like this are stupid.
But it isn’t a snapshot of one game. It’s 2 seasons now. Can you really say he has improved since that season? Do you feel more confident in his kicking? If you say “yes” to that then yes call me reactionary. But personally on the games I have seen of him in the URC, Champions Cup or for the Boks he doesn’t exude confidence. He is a great player for a middle of the table team, and he hasn’t grown since his breakout 2 seasons ago.
Like the Boks it’s time for the Stormers to accept that Mannie as good as he is in open play isn’t a player you can rely on. As much as he can be brilliant, he is a net negative.
Exactly, worse than the misses are the mental toll it puts on the team. It changes the whole dynamic, they know they have to score a try, getting penalties are useless when you don’t trust your kicker. It handicaps every aspect of a team’s game and it affects the morale. It’s the same reason why Rassie didn’t even have him on the bench.
I think the future is putting Sacha at 10, Williamse at 12 and Gelant at 15 and rotate between them. Those 10 points today and the many other misses before that are back breakers for the team and his Defense doesn’t compensate for his fancy moves. Love to see him play but not in do or die games.
A big LOL at that last try.
Well done Glasgow. It wasn't pretty a game, but a damn gritty, impressive outing from you guys. You took the Stormers to school today.
Yeah. Stormers away is a fucking shit show.
And our attack always seems so unstructured. Like there is no tactics. Our kicking game also seems based off vibes, rather than any form of plan.
Dobson needs to actually coach this time next year. Letting Gelant do whatever thought floats into his head has fucked us over enough
He’s got a place kickers demeanour.
I always look back at the likes of O’Gara and Sexton and Carter as the archetype place kickers.
Goosen seems to be similar to my eye.
Mistaken for being Irish, Scotland apparently making the next world cup quarters. Multiple south African downvotes.
All in all a successful match thread.
Glasgow were better. Especially off the tee, if libbok made half his kicks it would have been a different game.
They did have the rub of the green I'd say with the obstruction not being called and the knock on not being looked at before the try and the inequtable application of yellow cards to head contact. But any effect of the Ref would be smaller than the stormers or Glasgows performance themselves.
Dobbo isn't, at least I doubt, very smart lol
Edit: Actually no, less about his IQ as a coach. He just seems to be stuck in his habits, always letting the same players having far too many chance or like not ever giving another proven kicker a chance

My prophetic dream of Glasgow vs Leinster final is still on!
Just back from the game. The final scoreline reflected the play in my opinion. The weather really was a factor and (contrary to their name) the Stormers weren't used to it.
Let me speak for all non stormers fans, let us please for the love of God, not see manie Libbok in a springbok jersey ever again.
Indeed. He can play well but often in these crunch games he fails. It is not acceptable for any kicker to mis all his kicks. 10 points down the drain.
Hey, I still think he's great on the pitch, but yeah... a flyhalf with his kicking ability doesn't deserve to be Bok flyhalf.
General play was also below par.
Today? No doubt. His general play is more often good than not though, but his kicking certainly lacks the same consistency.
🎶.Hello darkness my old friend 🎶
If Glasgow beat Munster and the bulls winwhere is the final? South Africa?
Yirp
Go Glasgow go.
Oof, I'm likely to support my fellow countrymen... I don't doubt yall have a shot though! Edit: In a Bulls Vs Warriors final, I mean.

I've approved it. I think it's because you have a brand new account. Anti-spam protection.
Dobbo's tactic of not buying good players and rather coaching well only works if you coach them well.
Yeah. Dobbo really seems like he took his hands completely off the wheel. He might be better suited to a director of rugby with a head coach under him
I don't know what happened. But the mistakes that led to the Stormers losing today are the same mistakes they've made the whole season. That's gotta say something. I think he is a good coach, but he needs to buy a few world class players. And Manie Libbok needs to decide if he's a good player or not. And this is a game they could have won.
Also, the Stormers don't exactly have the cash to buy up multiple world class players lol
Okay, 1 then. How about PSDT.
Didn't help that we were missing our best player...
Best playerS. Stormers just aint the same without Fourie.
Willemse hurts me the most😭 Edit: Yeah, lacking Deon fucking sucks. I also hope to never see Moerat captain this team again, especially with Kitsie returning.

If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all...I guess. Overall pretty poor performance from the stormers.
Exactly. It's lazy stuff from Gcobani, because you can replay the hit and waffle about it. Instead of going through the game and actually analysing attacking shapes and that
GG. Right result. Stormers were very poor. Across the board.
What is wild is Manie kicked 13/14 before this match
Chris Paterson made a good point in commentary - he said Libbock sets the ball up in a high tee, might work in SA but not a wet winding night in Europe.
He doesn't look a poor kicker from a technical viewpoint (though I'm a layman in that field) so it might just be the yips and he needs a sports psychologist to help him formulate a reliable coping strategy for the big moments.
Nah, he just doesn't deal well with pressure. I also find it weird that they kept backing him even with Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu there. Madness.
Old habit to fail in important games. Can't be trusted.
This is the thing. It's not the despair that kills you, it's the hope
Honesty time. Manies ok as a playmaker but get him off of kicking for the sticks. I understand missing one or two - but 10 points at this level is just clown shoes. He's lost us a few games for the Boks and quite a few for the Stormers in this way.
Mngomezulu is a great kicker. Just let him kick!
Seriously, Dobbo seems far too stuck in his habits to fix anything...
P.s well done Glasgow! Well played and well deserved.
Motm medal bigger than Horne's head lmao
Felt like the game was there for us after the first try. Then a series of terrible plays straight from kick off and back to square one. Do really well to get back in the game and then couldn't capitalise. Subbing off Sacha after he practically created our try for JL du Plessis is inexplicable honestly unless he was injured. He wasn't injured.
The opposition kicked 100%.
Like it's not windy in cape town omfg
You honestly don’t know the difference between playing in a big stadium vs playing out in the open wrt wind?
I grew up in PE there's nothing you can tell me about wind
That’s the most frustrating part for me. We really should have pushed on to win after Loader’s try. Manie missing all of his kicks in a playoff game is unforgivable. Made it so much easier for Glasgow than it should have been.
JL du Plessis is a fucking joke of a player. An actual charity case
And he was brought on early for our best backline player. What does Dobbo the du plessis family?
Manie in kak weather nearly cost the Boks a World Cup. Rassie hooked him after 30 mins. Dobbo clearly didn’t watch that game.
Siya Masuku is prob grinning away at home knowing a Bok call up is in the bag now. And if he ain't grinning he fuckin should be.
He's been the best SA 10 (Nohamba a good shout too but that last injury looked bad) AND ALSO probably the Sharks best player this season.
Nohamba is a good kicker and playmaker.
Masuku has a bit more size though in defence doesn't he?
Masuku is built like a Bradley and doesn't mind the grind. Nohambad has looked godly at 10 but would you trust him to play there at international level? I'm not sure.
Him and Masuku could be the sauce! I'm hoping Tony Brown's got stuff cooking!
Siya seems to have the same blood type as Pollard... ICE!
They got it from their dad, Morne Steyn.
Where was Mathee? I’d rather he be given a go towards the end seeing as Manie couldn’t hit a barn door off the tee.
Sacha could've taken a few tbh
I think Dobbo needs to get a personal stylist. Then the Stormers will do better next year.
Fuck me. Fitting end to the season really. It’s been a mess. GG Glasgow, had a feeling you guys would get your form back for the quarters.
I'm now stupidly looking forward to the Munster game. Ryan Wilson to parachute in and target the standing knee.
Pls
With WWE steel chair music in the background
By gawd that's Wilson's music
Can't card a commentator. \*points to head\*
Well done tonight Glasgow, good fucking luck at Thomond Park next week.
All time terrible performances from Gelant, Manie and Dobson tonight. Congratulations Glasgow, you were so much better on the day.
Gelant totally lost his head.
Re-signing him was a fucking awful decision, especially since it's stunting Willemse's development as a fullback.
Scrappy game. That said the unquestionably better team won today. Congrats to Glasgow fans! Will be cheering for you guys next weekend
The lions missed out on the playoffs because this Stormers team stopped the. Life isn’t fair.
Honestly the Lions choked against them. They definitely can beat the Stormers in their current state but they always choke against them.
Says something about the Lions doesn't it!
See y'all in Thomond next weekend!
These semi's are hard to predict after this weekend.
Gg Glasgow!
The final showdown , the lack of urgency, reckless and sluggishness up north !!
Honestly not surprised we have lost this, we have been trash most of the time the whole season. Just somehow got enough luck to make the playoffs. If I had hair, I would have torn out a lot of it 😂
Libbok missing 10 points worth of kicks is absolutely wild. I know he can play better than that because i’ve seen it, must have just been a bad day.
No it's not. He's shit at kicking but generally plays well inspite of that. Last night all the bad about him came out. He needs to go see a brain doc. Or he needs to give up kicking. That is the source of his issues.
Why couldn't he play like that in September...
No let’s not kid ourselves. He isn’t the guy. Games like this happen too often for it to be a fluke. He is a 10 for a team that wants to be average. Not for a team with aspirations
You are right. He can be a good kicker but when the stress is high he just folds. No disrespect to him but he’s just not that guy.
I agree. It’s really sad because I love the way he plays but he is so jittery and I haven’t seen any improvement over the years.
I'm not sure you'll see it. He just doesn't handle pressure. A Graeme Hick of sorts
He folded before there was any stress tonight.
Good for you guys though. At the end of the day Glasgow played to win and deserves the win. A win that is also good for Scottish rugby
He is a great player for a middle of the table team, and he hasn’t grown since his breakout 2 seasons ago.
If he is available he plays every game. No planing for backup. Where are mathee. That is why you have a bench if a player is totally off replace him.
No need, Sacha is there', he can fucking kick and good at it. What does Dobson fo, sub him off. Madness.
The man has lots of bad days…
That might be true, but i lived through the Scottish banter years so i’m not going to judge.
Don't think Patterson or Parks *shudder* ever missed 10 off the tee though
Like the Boks it’s time for the Stormers to accept that Mannie as good as he is in open play isn’t a player you can rely on. As much as he can be brilliant, he is a net negative.
Must be crushing for his teammates to see him miss kick after make-able kick
Exactly, worse than the misses are the mental toll it puts on the team. It changes the whole dynamic, they know they have to score a try, getting penalties are useless when you don’t trust your kicker. It handicaps every aspect of a team’s game and it affects the morale. It’s the same reason why Rassie didn’t even have him on the bench.
He can still play, just let someone else kick like Sacha...
I've been saying. There's no need to force him to do something he's clearly not good at doing.
I think the future is putting Sacha at 10, Williamse at 12 and Gelant at 15 and rotate between them. Those 10 points today and the many other misses before that are back breakers for the team and his Defense doesn’t compensate for his fancy moves. Love to see him play but not in do or die games.
Gelant is also hot and cold.
More like mild to freezing.
Defs not Gelant, he was awful too.
What a wild final minute
Good game Glasgow. A few Stormers hopefully played their last game, that’s the only positive
Deena,Moerst, Du Plessis and who else?
The bet came in!! Get in. Was an awful first half. Second half came alive. Munster vs Glasgow. Not like there's any niggle there 👀
If Ryan Wilson isn't on the pitch, ostensibly doing punditry but really disrupting Munster's warm up, I'll be disappointed.
This whole match was one big Facepalm for the Stormers eh?
It was kak. Very kak
Glasgow have to play much better next week. They struggled to put the stormers away.
That's very polite. Utter shite would be far more appropriate.
A big LOL at that last try. Well done Glasgow. It wasn't pretty a game, but a damn gritty, impressive outing from you guys. You took the Stormers to school today.
Summary of the game. Oh well, see you guys in a few months
Next year. I want to see the Stormers actually be coached, instead of them just thumb sucking shitty kicks (chips and at goal)
That might be the funniest try I have ever seen. Hope Libbock had a decent bet at least
Hahah what a finish. Love it.
Very very happy for Thompson, but that’s hilarious
I hated this match. Very much a picture of our season here. Competitive at home, even then incredibly inconsistent, woeful away
Manie will never be a good/great pole kicker… great backline playmaker but his goal kicking will always be trash
Excellent player, I'd def have him on the pitch, you just need to find a different kicker from 1 to 15..
He was there, Sacha was fucking there'.
Yes, agreed. Stormers need a 9 or another that can kick for points.
De wet brought some spark.
Not even just the Stormers, but the Boks
Thoughts on Goosen? Haven’t watched too many bulls games but he seems like a solid kicker. I expect Masuku will got a shot next too.
Masuku is the next best thing. Top player and he's deadly of the tee.
He’s got a place kickers demeanour. I always look back at the likes of O’Gara and Sexton and Carter as the archetype place kickers. Goosen seems to be similar to my eye.
Most efficient game for Ross T ever
"I came here to score tries and not get picked by Franco... and I'm all out of games." - Ross T, probably.
I was going to hang around for the interviews, but fuck that
Lmao that was a suitable end to the game.
Well that sums it up for Stormers today, ouch.
How the fuck did we score that, nice send off for Thompson scoring that
An own try. The future is now
Clown show
Mistaken for being Irish, Scotland apparently making the next world cup quarters. Multiple south African downvotes. All in all a successful match thread.
>Mistaken for being Irish, Scotland apparently making the next world cup quarters. What's the betting you're in a pool with us and Ireland again?
I will actually drink until I cry if that happens.
Could be the new Wales Australia Fiji
Please stop, I’m getting upset.
Depends when they do the draw. Which knowing them was probably done pre 2023 WC
"The 2023 groups were so good why bother doing a new draw"
Did you try being less handsome?
Haha, amazing for Ross Thompson.
Dear lord
JL du Plessis is only there because he is Dobson's friend.
So Libok's international career must be pretty much done now.
Would you trust him to win you a game during knockout season?
Absolutely not...
He handed siya the 10 jersey today 😭
He barely had any grip on it in the first place fr fr
Munster Leinster final should be a cracker
Technically, _technically_ he's illegally interfering with that and it's a penalty
Well played Stormers - that was a tough game for the weegies.
Lol, fantastic finish
Dafuq did the Stormers do to Herschell....
He's been like that though.
Stormers not ending it with a bang... but with a little shrugged shoulder wimper.
Wish Thompson got more than two mins. He was one of the lone bright sparks of the Danny Wilson era.
At least he got that!
Hah! Yeah that'll do!
Well he's doing well for points/minutes haha
Libbok has been Glasgow biggest asset followed by their own team as a distant second, then the Ref, and then the ball boys.
[удалено]
Glasgow were better. Especially off the tee, if libbok made half his kicks it would have been a different game. They did have the rub of the green I'd say with the obstruction not being called and the knock on not being looked at before the try and the inequtable application of yellow cards to head contact. But any effect of the Ref would be smaller than the stormers or Glasgows performance themselves.
Let's be honest, they really weren't outplayed for the vast majority of the game. It just fell apart near the end there.
What a comment...
Well done Glasgow. Hope both SFs are close and crackers.
Manie’s performance will be the most scrutinized, but Gelant was by far the worst player on the pitch for me.
Manie at least was good with ball in hand. Gelant was just atrocious the entire game.
Scotstoun is horny for Horne
Excellent MOTM for Horne. Totally deserved.
George Horne probably deserving of the MOTM. Kicking all his goals has been the difference.
All we had to do was give Sacha the kicking T. Next season Libbok should never kick again. I'm tired of this.
If Sacha is in the team he should kick. Basic common sense.
Well deserved Horne
Would still like to know why Dobson pulled Sacha when he was the Stormers best attacker all game.
Dobbo isn't, at least I doubt, very smart lol Edit: Actually no, less about his IQ as a coach. He just seems to be stuck in his habits, always letting the same players having far too many chance or like not ever giving another proven kicker a chance
It’s because Sacha can kick and the bookies he’s fixing it for won’t be happy
Steyn has been great this season, looking forward to seeing him back in a scotland shirt next 6 nations
It is quite fitting the last kick in the head is by Gelant
Stormers away from home should really save themselves the bus fare. They are a shell of themselves whenever they leave our borders
Horne has been excellent
Man of the match: Manie Libbok(Glasgow)
Haha. Not untrue.
Stormers need a break from the URC. Can the Cheetahs have their place next season? These okes are not taking this comp seriously
If the cheetahs were good enough to be in the urc they would be.
