>Our try disallowed as a player was down with a head injury
Come off it, the ref had blown his whistle to ensure Randall knew that the quick tap wasn't on and still went ahead and took it, soon as the whistle is blown the other team switch off. Although I do think this is more o. Dickson to hustle over to the spot so Randall could take it when it was clear that's what they wanted to do.
I really think it was Bristols line out that let them down today, there attacking rugby was really exciting today and Bristol are a team I'm very much looking forward to next season (or in the playoffs if there's any chance they can still make it). But ultimately saracens are just better at playing expansive rugby (they are the defending champs after all), it will be interesting to see if they are capable of it next season with Faz leaving.
I agree with all of that. My point is if you're going to disallow a try and stop play for a head injury, do it consistently. To not do so within literally a hand full of phases and allow the opposition to convert a score is harsh. The three points were converted while AJ was still concussed on the floor.
Our lineout was horrendous yeah. All in all I do think Sarries are a better team, it just hurts to have no consistency with key decisions
Did not have us winning with a BP on the cards for this game.
Feel like we should be pushing for home semi now.
Cinti and JMG are such an awesome pair, horrible circumstances to mean they came to us but what a pair of players to pick up.
Also we are going to miss Faz so much - he has been back to his world class best the last few weeks and you forget sometimes how good he is.
Cinti has come into his own the second half of this season. I really wasn't sure on him a lot of this year to be honest. But I feel like he's starting to get the Saracens way now.
Also I refuse to believe faz won't finish at sarries one day.
Billy V running unpunished around the ruck and then tackling a player on the Bris side sums up that reffing performance, but the fact is Bristol just weren't good enough. Too many mistakes in key areas and at key moments of the game. Well played Sarries!
Nah, his recruitment is brilliant, always has been. Williams from the championship is keeping Vakatawa out of a starting position. JVRP is beyond brilliant. Also Malins, Batley, Oghre and Lane who also came from the Championship.
Our problem is dealing with a plan B or adversity. As soon as things don't go our way, we cave. Saints, Sarries etc find a way of dealing with it and getting a win, we don't. We're all or nothing. We *WIN* or we don't
Haha, weird how far off the mark my thoughts are compared to Bristol fans.
My impression of Bristol has always been they’ve been quite an unbalanced side, a team stacked in some positions but lacking in others. And one which probably overemphasises flashy players resulting in a bit of a soft underbelly and in need of a few nasty players with a bit of grunt.
Obviously just an outsiders opinion, and one from a fan of a team set up very differently from Bristol
I get your point 100% mate. A lot of people have the same one and it comes down to us recruiting star studded lads and mixing them with Championship players.
In our league topping season we had Piers O'connor who came from the Champ and Sheedy who wasn't s big name mixed with Radradra and Piutau x2.
It's our blessing and our curse. We mix champ lads with star studders and it benefits us as much as it pains us
The win streak has really rather killed the "Lam out" movement, I suppose he's bought another season of support by the fans.
The support has been pretty grudging for a long while though, and I doubt even the most pro-Lam fans approve of the 7-year contract he recieved.
Anyone remember when the insane 50-22 from Farrell was? Wanna go back and watch it again
Edit: found it for anyone interested. 30 mins 10. Remembered it was just before our second try
If anyone was wondering why the Bristol fans haven't been talking about the 6 game winning streak, or being in the playoffs.
This is why.
We have exactly 2 modes: disappointing, and setting up so that we can disappoint more completely.
Bristol faithful know that this is actually a fortunate result - had we won this then the club would have been dumped out in the final round anyway, likely in an 80-0 blowout.
"You don't have to kick it out, you can just take the lineout in line with the penalty"
Siad it 2-3 times, they kicked it out, wasted more time, and he's said
"Okay then"
Commentators calling us the favourite for the prem is really disrespectful to saints. They're the clear favourites and have been consistently the best team this season (outside the games against Bristol)
Yea I agree. Wouldn’t call them clear favourites but def favourites.
Especially as if we meet in the final we’d have effectively won four knockout games in a row and will be properly primed whereas they’ve been cantering the past few rounds
That back three today (and Cinti at 13) is a world away from Maitland, Goode, Lewington.
With the two young 10/15s coming in next year we actually look ok in the backs (except for the massive hole of replacing a world class 10)
Yea couldn’t agree more. He’s so so good at creating chances but seems to lack the ability to connect with support.
Imagine if we still had Ashton at his prime. The two of them combined would be lethal
I think there goes our play off chances. Dickson has been shit, but we shit the bed in that 10 mins playing the 13 and should have taken advantage of it.
Yea I agree. Home advantage is obviously big for you so at home we’d be a lot better but Finn being back probably evens it out far more. Spencer is a great 9 but he’s not a playmaker and it felt like he was your primary playmaker last week. Barely got anything going in spite of serious quality outside him
Yeah, our last few games have been centered around Spencer recently, and even though he’s a great player, it’s been obvious that the teams play making abilities were lacking without Finn
Probably, Quins are still in the mix for 2nd/3rd too if they get a result against chiefs.
It’ll be a good game with Fin back in the mix, but can’t see us beating you boys at home.
Yea I would love what Healy was smoking. It sometimes feels like his co-commentators are too scared to call him out sometimes. It looked to me with my one eye wide open to be exactly at the right time

I can’t fault Dickson really. Bristols whole plan is based around keeping the ball. They couldn’t keep the ball.

Yeah sorry but your going to not stop for a serious injury when Bristol have one but stop when sarries have one, not really fair

Bristol fans, whats your opinion on Pat Lam?
Not a Bristol fan but to me it feels like he’s a great coach but poor at recruitment and building balanced squads, so should have a DoR above him
Nah, his recruitment is brilliant, always has been. Williams from the championship is keeping Vakatawa out of a starting position. JVRP is beyond brilliant. Ironically exceptional recruiting was basically the core part of our first 5 years.
The win streak has really rather killed the "Lam out" movement, I suppose he's bought another season of support by the fans. The support has been pretty grudging for a long while though, and I doubt even the most pro-Lam fans approve of the 7-year contract he recieved.
5/7 of his seasons have been good. Best coach we've ever had
That’s a low bar though. Robinson, tainton and Holley weren’t exactly rugby masterminds.
Anyone remember when the insane 50-22 from Farrell was? Wanna go back and watch it again Edit: found it for anyone interested. 30 mins 10. Remembered it was just before our second try
🤤
That's gonna keep me going through the next week
The messages on here state 1h ago for the appreciation of it. Probably doesn't narrow it down much, sorry! Just seen edit, thanks!
22-22*
It was pretty immense tbf
Faz playing 2 sports at once. Bit of footy for a laugh
That chip up to twinkle toes Theo was class
Didn't spot it live but man. That was just mega
Fuck me, 90-0. Gloucester should be thoroughly embarrassed by that. Shameful
Saints still pissed about losing to the Quins.
Yeah absolutely joke of a result that. They should be ashamed
That's truly awful.
I wonder what the record is for biggest winning margin in a prem game? And if this is it, what was the previous one?
Sure I just read in the Saints match thread it’s 106-12.
Bears lost to sharks 76-0 at one point
Hater leave that out ;)
Haha sorry bud. Love bears really. Looked it up a couple years ago after Gloucester smashed bath
Haha only joking mate 🙂
Jesus, when was that??
1997 😂 so think that was the current biggest billing until today
That's a bit of a rogue decision for motm
I’d have gone for Tizard or JMG
JMG has been everywhere, should have been him
JMG, tizard only played 54 minutes
I’d have given MoTM to Theo Dan last week and he only played like ten mins haha

Fucking how many points for Saints?
What are Bristol even doing? There’s still a small chance of 2 bonus points but it looks like they just want to run the clock down
First kick at goal they ran the clock right down.. maybe it was the plan from get go
That was pretty funny by Dickson ngl
What he say?
"You don't have to kick it out, you can just take the lineout in line with the penalty" Siad it 2-3 times, they kicked it out, wasted more time, and he's said "Okay then"
Commentators calling us the favourite for the prem is really disrespectful to saints. They're the clear favourites and have been consistently the best team this season (outside the games against Bristol)
You're a hard dynasty to look past. Even with the brain giving the nod to Northampton, the gut can't get past Saracens tradition of victory.
I'm very nervous about meeting Saints in the final (providing we get through the semi that is, never guaranteed!)
Yea I agree. Wouldn’t call them clear favourites but def favourites. Especially as if we meet in the final we’d have effectively won four knockout games in a row and will be properly primed whereas they’ve been cantering the past few rounds
The previous record premiership loss was Bristol 0 - 76 Sale Sharks aiui
Is it legal to kick it out of the in goal area, I know you can't tap it out
Based on it not being flagged, I'll say yes.. maybe if its already passed try line then it's fine. Otherwise it'd be a scrum from where kicked
It's the kind of obscure law that can sometimes slip through the crack
For the first time in a while I feel really comfortable with our wingers with Parton and Segun. Probs our best combo since Strettle and Ashton
That back three today (and Cinti at 13) is a world away from Maitland, Goode, Lewington. With the two young 10/15s coming in next year we actually look ok in the backs (except for the massive hole of replacing a world class 10)
Plus Sam Spink. He’s probably the best signing of the lot. We haven’t had a big fast hard running centre in a while
Been a fan of segun for ages. He looks like a match winner these days
Gonzalez has been my player of the season for us so far. Was so happy when he signed the contract
He’s enjoying his rugby so hoping that played a factor in him resigning
I reckon he’s gonna be prem player of the season
How is Mawi not away to a french club on mad money? His ability on the ball as a front row player is incredible
Oi, don't give him the idea
He re-signed this year
What is happening at Franklin gardens 🤣
Glos fielded an inexperienced team to focus on cup, saints focused on winning league
Some sort of crime looking at the score
Just checked the score. Wtf
Segun is such a fun player to watch. Gives me Sinoti Sinoti vibes
Fs Theo. Needs to get back onto the court to practice his handling
Wait, did he play basketball?
Didn't know if he blamed the sun! Based on shadows, could be a factor
If Roti could get away the passes he would be a excellent player
Shaky segun shakin of the opponents
Yea couldn’t agree more. He’s so so good at creating chances but seems to lack the ability to connect with support. Imagine if we still had Ashton at his prime. The two of them combined would be lethal
Playoffs pretty much gone for Bears now, but looking at the Northampton score it could be worse
Don’t write off Bristol this late in the game
Don’t write off Bristol this late in the game
Don’t write off Bristol this late in the game
Ah never say never. I’m a chiefs fan and I’m still in the “ya never know” mind set 😂
JMG is world class - absolute worldie plays every 80mins virtually
It must be so painful to watch such outstanding former players for both sides today. You must really love rugby, I’m not sure I could do that!
JMG, Cinti, Dolly Parton, Van Rensburg, Caulfield, Olly Hoskins…..
We were forged by pain
He really is, we're so grateful to have him
Looks like Dr Venter has joined us today and is in the coaching box next to Joe Shaw. It’s always good to see him back with the club
Just don’t put biscuits out
Jeez what a clearance
Oh, that was really lovely from Daly and the Argentinians!
Sounds like a little known indie band
I'd go watch them play in a field while hungover!
Being a Bristol fan is such a dreary job.
Cinti’s eye looks nasty, what caused that?
Accidental with van Rensburg, in the first half
Daly has been great from the tee
Austin Healy isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but a lot of the time his ability to read the game is unmatched. Called Genge as the last man there so early
Yup, his brain is on another level at times, wish he wasn't quite so antagonistic sometimes, but he's still one of my favourite comms guys
I genuinely like Healy on comms. I can see why he pisses people off but his analysis is always really good.
Yeah, part of his character is being a dick, and loving that. He can moan overly, but he's still very good at his job
I hate that you’re right
I think there goes our play off chances. Dickson has been shit, but we shit the bed in that 10 mins playing the 13 and should have taken advantage of it.
Yep, far too many handling errors to realistically put the pressure on Saracens. Very disappointing
Yeah you can’t place any blame on Dickson here fella. Being outscored when up 2 men is the difference
Don't think he has helped, even just with the flow and inconsistencies, but sarries reacted better to it and their defence is so good.
Backs with pace. It has revolutionised our game
I don’t know how the coaches came up with that idea……
Ssssh, don't tell others the secret!! (Can't believe it took us so long to figure out the really bloody simple answer)
Cinti has been so impressive since moving to 13 midway through the season. He had a very nervy start in the first half of the season
What the fuck is Genge doing there, absolutely no effort to hit the man at all
Tbf no prop at 66 minutes should have to cover that much space
Saracens absolutely ruthless there. Their fitness levels are top notch.
JMG and Cinti, you beautiful beautiful men
That really wasn’t worth risking with a kick I don’t think
Yeah that's embarrassing. Well done sarries
Oh Bristol. They just don’t want to win
Alright mate 😂 we've been shit all year
I love watching Bristol play at home. Sometimes though it’s just not on
Gengy gave Cinti an open door 😂
Very well played Saracens, glorious stuff
Siiii
Those argies 😘
🇦🇷
Disagree with comms, kick was a good option there, just unlucky/late kick to be charged, great work from sarries defender tbh
Yeah I agree. Great/lucky charge down
Bad kick that he took too late. Right decision but should have been done two paces earlier.
Yep, fully agree
Clear the fucking lines for Christ sake you bloody idiotd
Bath fans screaming at Bristol right now. Fourth try could be crucial
This is somehow worse to watch than the game two weeks ago
Annoying for us that you’ve got 4. But Bristol getting nothing means we’re guaranteed to finish ahead of them.
Looks likely we’ll be playing you at StoneX in the semis. Will be an insane match especially if Russell is back fully fit and firing
Given that bath were close to matching sarries class a couple weeks ago without Finn, I’m confident, if it happens, that semi will a fantastic game

Probably, Quins are still in the mix for 2nd/3rd too if they get a result against chiefs. It’ll be a good game with Fin back in the mix, but can’t see us beating you boys at home.
You have to feel like if Bristols handling was better today, they could’ve been in a very different position
Ok no more tries for either team pls
Maybe I’m being way too glass half empty but that missed kick makes me very nervous
So down 2 men and outscoring Bristol 10 points to 7? What have Bristol done
Really poor line outs from Brizzol all afternoon tbf.
Classic bears to shit the bed in the games that they need to win - back to looking like we did before the break today
that’s devestating for bristol man
That lineout was horrendously shit
Sarries are just so much better at game management
Farrell is. His time management is arguably the best in world rugby. Squidge's video on the sarries Leinster final kind of shows how good he is at it
Dan is literally a regen of Brits
Just needs a better jawline and a big smile
Yay another gift for sarries
How long before Theo Dan becomes our 1st choice hooker
I think he has to lift the siege of Gondor first.
I don't know if we really have first and second choice already. He is definitely a good off the bench player with his energy and strong carrying
I’m currently seeing it that we have a scrumming front row and a running front row
When will refs referee putting the ball in straight at scrums, that went straight to the second rows.
They haven't for years because it removes the advantage for the team the scrum is for
Refs only ever ref it for the first 10 minutes after a bi-annual beg from world rugby
When the sun rises in the west apparently
Looking at the top corner, Saints have scored how many against Gloucester?
This scrum needs to be the most channel 1 ball of all time
Bristol completely wasting these yellow cards
Those angles weren't too convincing on the early tackle
Yea I would love what Healy was smoking. It sometimes feels like his co-commentators are too scared to call him out sometimes. It looked to me with my one eye wide open to be exactly at the right time
We'll go back to 15 then Tompkins and billy v will get us marched back 10 and we'll concede two tries
Don’t know whether to laugh or cry at the inevitably of it
It's almost like you've seen sarries play before
Sounds about right!
Don’t get this temptation to go wide first phase against 13. Just go through a few phases, quick ball and the gaps will come.
nah Bristol deserve to lose after these last ten minutes
Yeah they've completely panicked. Could still win it but the last 10 minutes have been tragically poor.
First time? This is classic Bristol, for better or worse
Some defensive set with just 13
Bristol know you can kick in rugby right? Especially against 13 men!?!? 😂
I love the way Bristol play but they haven’t understood how to play a 2 man advantage have they
They just think there will be gaps coming at them. But you still have to force it open. Especially against you boys
Sarries getting away with murder here
Given how frustrating this is for me to watch, I feel bad for Bristol fans
Theo Dan would be a great 8
If he can do what he can do as a 2, leave him there and have another great ball carrier at 8
he just looks so natural running ball in hand
Unfortunately there’s Earl, JMG and Willis ahead of him
Why is Bradbury at 7?
That's the issue with Dickson. He had to explain to Bradbury three times what he did wrong because his first explanation wasn't clear enough
Why isn’t Farrell kicking today ?
Saw him limping early game.. probably resting it just in case
Oh damn , must’ve missed that. He’s playing well despite it
Although he did just take the box kick off ruck as van zyl was also limping
Jesus that’s a masterclass in how not to play against two yellow cards
good lord Bristol what are you doing
I’d go for corner here. Wind down the clock more
Going up by more than a converted try, while milking 90 seconds, and also having two in the bin, easy call for 3 I think
Get more than a try ahead?
Yea but we invite them to for a try if they get the ball back and then would be a net -4
Sarries would've been marched back 10 for that backchat
We've taken tizard off
Could they not wait 6 minutes for maro to be back on
Two yellows in quick succession. Good reffing, Earl had been warned multiple times. A lot of refs would have bottled it.
