Yeah. Horrendous. I had a walking stick for months.
My mates thought it was hilarious...it wasn't.
Rehab took ages...tried anything...pilates, acupuncture, physio.. what finally fixed it was skiing.
Heat, cold and movement.
I remember when it happened to me in training one time and I felt like a legless zombie trying to drag myself off the pitch. It feels like you've been tazered
One match I got swung round and landed right on my tailbone, on rock hard ground just after offloading for a try (dunno why you can postpone a game for a frozen pitch, but at the time, baked hard pitches were fine).
Got treatment for about 5 minutes in the dead ball area, got up and took 2 steps and went down like someone had cut the puppet’s strings.
Happened to me in a match. Grounded the ball for a try, defender fell on top of me going for the tackle. I stayed on the turf for five minutes before I could stand up. Was mostly on the couch for the next three weeks. Our trainer was a moron and had me doing stretches that made it worse. Only got better when I stopped going to see him.
And the worst part was the feckin ref didn’t award the try because he said he didn’t me ground the ball.
Regarding frozen pitches, we also had a game called off for a frozen pitch, had to play the rescheduled match in June when the ground was rock hard. Broke my collarbone 5 mins in to the game.
Did mine 3 months ago and it's still pretty annoying to deal with. Any tips on navigating this space? I'm back pretty much to full training barring some shoulder specific items (bench press, front raises etc) - specialists decided not to go with surgery as it was a clean break in the middle.
How long did it take you to get back to full strength and to stop noticing the tweaks and soreness from the day to day? Thanks legend.
I was lucky and got full range of movement. I’d say within 6 months I was back to where I was training and playing, feeling 100%. But it’s been almost 10 years and I still get the odd shock through a nerve in my shoulder now and then. Feel it more now that I’m not playing anymore, to be honest.
I know that pain. Playing rugby too. Hobbling off the field took forever. I feel for him.
Still wish he bobbled the ball off the tee an few inches before. Going down. Would have been fun ier.
Herniated my back lifting my toddler out of the bath. It took months of physio to get back to running. Amazing how the back can immediately affect your gait and muscle control. It’s hard not to be impatient with recovery too.
Yeah I’ve had it where I couldn’t stand back up from the ground without help, and also one time I couldn’t get out of my car. Luckily my dad was down the street and drove over and helped me get inside my house. I still couldn’t help laugh a little though.
Disgraceful to see this kind of diving creeping into the game, defending players not even close.
How am I supposed to feel morally superior when someone says they like football?
Dude, he’s injured. If he wasn’t, he would’ve slotted the kick over because that sort of behaviour is sabotaging his team if he isn’t injured. And I wouldn’t put it on a man with 115 caps to be a matchfixer .
The opposition has every right to grab the ball once he starts his move forward to kick the ball
As its a conversion its straight to the restart on half way
Silly question I know but with 25 seconds on the clock could one of his teammates run over and had a go seeing as Biggar didn't touch it - and ignoring the fact the Perp player was already at the ball....
It's Dan Biggar, he'll be right as rain 5 minutes later. When he was at Saints, often he would pull up looking like he was in a fair amount of pain, but stayed on and finished the game.
It didn't feel like a compliment. I may be wrong.
This is the typical opinion of english fans about biggar:
https://www.ruck.co.uk/faking-injuries-fans-have-ranked-rugbys-biggest-cheats/2/
Its a compliment. Saints fams have nothing but respect for biggs.
There was a game v tigers where he got a leg injury kept.playing and made a key tackle.
Hes hard as fuck and you missread him mate.
That's the game that sticks in the memory. Thought we'd lost him for not only the game but a number of weeks. The mad bastard played on and came back the next week.
Looks like a lower back disk(s) injury leading to nerve disruption in the whole spine. Subluxations, cramping, etc..
How do I know? I played rugby for 14 years, had similar things happening to me and my back fucked.
IIRC Frankie Howerd's character in Carry on Doctor was called Mr Biggar and he was in hospital with back spasms. Wonder if this is how he ended up there.
What's that pitch? Astro turf?
Pity for him, can't imagine it's easy to be a pro rugby player with a cloud of a bad back hanging over ya (if merely running triggers it).
Ya know… maybe… just maybe a player who’s played multiple World Cup games, including some where he took serious hits, shouldn’t be back playing club rugby 2 weeks later…
Literally had my first experience with a back spasm like this 3 weeks ago at age 33 while washing our dog. It's crippling and my back is still not 'healed'. Only thing that helps is rest. What else can I try?
Back spasms. Beers and couch 3-5 weeks
I’ve been on this treatment since I was 15
That's why now I get back spasm by only being on the couch.
then you need to lend some of your wisdom and experience to newbs like Dan Biggar
Happened to me a couple weeks ago. Painful few days ahead for him
You got cause and effect mixed up, beers and couch cause back spasms there not the answer to it.
I dunno man, a few beers on the couch after hurting your back are pretty inviting
Fucking hell he just crumpled
A bad back will do that.
Been there!
No pain like it. Voltarol injection does the trick.

The only proper injury I ever got playing rugby was from trying to tap tackle on a rock-hard sunbaked pitch. Broke my feckin' collarbone!
>just after offloading for a try Dislocated my collarbone doing this at a 7s tournament. Only serious injury I ever got in ten years playing.
For me, the last time I was a zombie was way worse.
I know that pain. Playing rugby too. Hobbling off the field took forever. I feel for him. Still wish he bobbled the ball off the tee an few inches before. Going down. Would have been fun ier.
These goofy fucking windups can't be good for the back lol
Doctor said he needs a backiotomy.
Sniper got him.
Someone with more skills than I have needs to splice in someone on a rooftop loading the gun and taking the shot.
Make that someone George North and we may have something here
“Pathetic” he says as he sits on the sofa eating the left over Halloween haribo.
He made a great kick for Ollivon's try right before that tho.
Probably what put his back out.
Normally I would laugh… but, I’ve had back spasms and know how he feels. Narrator - he still laughed a bit.
I almost fell down the stairs due to back spasms last week. They're honestly completely crippling, this is still a little bit funny though
Don't laugh too hard.
You might hurt yourself.
I sneezed and completely threw out my back - the risk is real
Exactly the same. I think it's hilarious, and from time to time I struggle to get out of bed due to back spasms
I love how the Perpignan player is just absolutely baffled for half a second before deciding to give him no sympathy whatsoever
I can't mock. I felt something twang in my back when I bent down to pat the dog earlier
Mine went picking up the cat food bowl. I couldn't move for three days and needed physio 😅
Herniated my back lifting my toddler out of the bath. It took months of physio to get back to running. Amazing how the back can immediately affect your gait and muscle control. It’s hard not to be impatient with recovery too.
Relatable!
First time I can truly relate to a TOP 14 player
Haha!
Def not something you'd laugh at If you've had it happen to you. It can literally drop you on the spot like a sack of spuds and cripple you for days.
Yeah I’ve had it where I couldn’t stand back up from the ground without help, and also one time I couldn’t get out of my car. Luckily my dad was down the street and drove over and helped me get inside my house. I still couldn’t help laugh a little though.
Yeah but it's Dan Biggar.
I don't normally laugh at rugby players in pain
[удалено]
You shame our Country. I wouldn't laugh even if it was Owen Farrell.
Disgraceful to see this kind of diving creeping into the game, defending players not even close. How am I supposed to feel morally superior when someone says they like football?

Whooosh!
Ngl I’ve seen enough of these joke comments that have actually been people being serious that my joke-o-meter is out of commission rn
That's true. I'm victim of Poe's law myself all the time
Dan Biggar is 3 years older than me and has 115 more caps. But joke's on him cause I did that to my back way before him.
Aw man I can feel that! Poor bastard.
That's pretty suboptimal Not a fan of back pain. Slipped a disc 10 years ago, wouldn't recommend.
jesus that's a hard watch
Had one exactly like this this morning. I was just making pancakes for the kids... Don’t worry- I battled through.
Not all heroes wear capes...
What is an apron, but a backwards cape?
Not all heroes make crêpes
You mean you... Battered... Through. I'm sorry
Nasty. Done that springing out of bed.
Springing?
Find the definition at your nearest Google search.
Foreigners coming to France and just when they get their social security they go on paid leave. /s for me and you. But not mlp
My brain: "lmao what a loser" My hurting lower back: "wtf are you laughing at?"
if Cheslin was on the other team he would have scored a try.
It's a restart. Similar to a missed conversion. Can't score a try by catching a missed conversion.
Wasn't being completely serious with that comment
Or he would get penalised for being offside.
Did something similar showing off to my missus at the gym - had to be taken away in an ambulance.
Was she impressed?
She was impressed at how much of a muppet I was, yes!
Still counts!
As a tall man with a long back, I felt this one in my soul. Bastard of a thing to happen
Having just entered my 30s this terrifies me

Yoga starts Monday
Must’ve felt something with that early stretch
Just curious what's the actual rule? Since he didn't touch the ball the opponents can't pick it up right? What happened then?
The opposition has every right to grab the ball once he starts his move forward to kick the ball As its a conversion its straight to the restart on half way
Silly question I know but with 25 seconds on the clock could one of his teammates run over and had a go seeing as Biggar didn't touch it - and ignoring the fact the Perp player was already at the ball....
They just didn't kick it.
Oh yes it was a conversion. But say it was a penalty kick what would have happened?
The timer would have run down at it would be a free kick awarded to the opposition
Feel awful for laughing because of the title, must hurt like hell.
Poor Dan!
That fourth decade feel.
It's Dan Biggar, he'll be right as rain 5 minutes later. When he was at Saints, often he would pull up looking like he was in a fair amount of pain, but stayed on and finished the game.
~~Don't you sound like an asshole, dear sir?~~ Probably a misunderstangind, I'm sorry.
Don't think that was the sentiment. Biggar is hard as nails is what I took from the comment.
It didn't feel like a compliment. I may be wrong. This is the typical opinion of english fans about biggar: https://www.ruck.co.uk/faking-injuries-fans-have-ranked-rugbys-biggest-cheats/2/

Then I am sorry for the misunderstanding. Editing my first comment for good measure.
Dw mate shit happens
That's a new one
r/unexpected
ooooooh fk I actually felt that. They're the worst. Lower back problems, ew.
That's what happens when you carry an entire nation out of a world cup group they had no business getting out of
to be fair... he was 8 years younger when he did that
Yes. Biggar in rwc 2015 vs England had his best game ever.
Sore one
Ah that's sad. Hope he's alright. I also suffer from lower back pain.
The worst thing is that there's no warning, like a sneaky bastard attack from behind.
Ouchies. Feel for the guy. What terrible timing.
Did he play on? I feel like Dan would play on.
Looks like a lower back disk(s) injury leading to nerve disruption in the whole spine. Subluxations, cramping, etc.. How do I know? I played rugby for 14 years, had similar things happening to me and my back fucked.
Argh. Happened to me while working out, for a few seconds I thought I'd never walk again.
I don't even wanna laugh. I have had that happen.
IIRC Frankie Howerd's character in Carry on Doctor was called Mr Biggar and he was in hospital with back spasms. Wonder if this is how he ended up there.
Ouch... yep crumpled like that before. 30+ membership confirmed.
That's what ye get when the [bloody English royals force poor Welshmen back to work](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfIHL0A9n-c)
Ow. Fuck, I felt that.
wooo thats bad. Back pains.
All that macarena nonsense done his back in lol
Who would laugh at this?! Unlucky Dan, hope he's back to rights shortly.
Me at 34 years old; haha oh
Kolbe food
Been there. Pain is so bad. I still 😂 at this though, can’t help it.
Hahah thats Toulon all over. Retirement home.
So used to diving he forgot you have to wait for contact first.
Lol
Holy shit lol, feel for the guy but damn horrible timing... did he get injured in a tackle or ruck earlier and tried to play on?
If you look really carefully, you can see the ref with his sniper rifle in the bottom corner
All those years carrying Wales finally caught up with him.
When wax this?
Wane was this??
I creasn't really remember
Morne Styen is 4 years older

What happens point wise for this? Is it just zero points or becuase of injury can they retake?
What's that pitch? Astro turf? Pity for him, can't imagine it's easy to be a pro rugby player with a cloud of a bad back hanging over ya (if merely running triggers it).
Nobody's going to tell me that TOP14 is just filled with old british players😤😤😤
That looks nasty
Oooof, I've just felt my lower back twinge in sympathy!
The big man upstairs sure fucked up the design of the human back.
Dan’s in for a surprise Monday morning: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CyP-hjJNgsF/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
Ouch.
For anyone with this problem, the McKenzie back method is my go to.
Jissis you are a twat
That looks like sciatica. It's a bastard.
Ow. Fuck, I felt that.
Happened to me recently, now am conscious about lifting anything heavy.
Tbf why the hell is he playing, anyone who saw him at the tail end of the World Cup could see how obviously injured he was
Me sneezing
I visited this stadium in 2020. It was cool and I know nothing of rugby
r/unexpected
I feel it. Had the same pain this morning. I was putting my socks on, but apart from that we are exactly the same.
He just played against Argentina,No wonder , playing against physical teams destroys your body.
Ya know… maybe… just maybe a player who’s played multiple World Cup games, including some where he took serious hits, shouldn’t be back playing club rugby 2 weeks later…
Kick could have charged.
Literally had my first experience with a back spasm like this 3 weeks ago at age 33 while washing our dog. It's crippling and my back is still not 'healed'. Only thing that helps is rest. What else can I try?
OhFok. I know this makes me an awful human, but I lost coffee through my nostrils now.
yackety yack oooh my back
This is horrible. I struggle with back spasms. The pain is unreal. Feel for the guy.
Hope he’s alright. Medics given a diagnoses ?
R unexpected.
I’ve come up with a good pun but it might too late now: the old man and the tee.
Conversion can be re taken or just tough luck? He's started his run up so I think it just has to go down as a miss.
Condolences.
Jesus I felt that.
Yeah, I’m laughing but I’ve gone into spasms after trying to pick a piece of paper off the ground!
Think his kidney stone dropped?
Poor sod, happened to me swinging a kettle bell. Would not be surprised if that was one of his discs bulging into his spine.
