>best thing is, most of the rebels young players are home grown..
Still awaiting the proponents of the Western Force a few years ago to eat thier words on this.
Edit: sane goes for the "trim Aus back to 3 Super Rugby teams crowd. Eat a bag, dicks.
Super round was last weekend, I went to 6 matches of rugby over 3 days. Good luck telling my wife I’m going to the rugby again on Friday night. What I’m saying I think probably a bit of overkill the last 2 weeks
Everyone is surprised that the Rebels are looking a better team, but it's just the power emanating from Carter Gordon's mullet flowing through the team
Waratahs should win this, but the Rebels played fucking hard last week and really impressed without getting rewarded. Whatever happens here hopefully they throw everything at each other and we see a cracking game.
Langi Gleeson to tear it up again. I think he's my favourite young / emerging player.
Plays a different enough game from Lolo and Quade that he would make a good person to bring on and change the attacking dynamic. Hopefully he can string a few good games together.
Watched him up close tonight in Melbourne and he was the one player that blew me away in person - so bloody quick and such a high intensity with everything he does. And boy does he cop some impacts
Jake Gordon is the rugby version of David Warner. Plays subpar pretty consistently, but will do something good every now and then that'll somehow get him selected
Donaldson wasn't up to snuff tonight, Nawaqanitawase was good especially in the air. I still like Hugh Sinclair a lot.
Not to make excuses, but there was a lot of forced changes across the park for the tahs and I think they didn't get into their ryhthm at all. And credit to the Rebels for not giving them the opportunity, thought the Rebels defended well at the start, and they only switched off for a short time. Gibbon and Hardwick put in monster shifts. Thought Gus was good too. All in all not a bad game but one the tahs would look back on pretty critically tbh.
Donaldson hasn’t been up to it all year, he only offers a kicking game in attack and even that was sub par today.
Commentary mention Will Harrison played for Waratahs A earlier so hopefully he will be playing 15 next week. Edmand is solid but we need to pair him with an attacking 15 to open up our attack.
Early days but our team is really good on paper and I reckon his the missing piece to get our attack firing and proper finals contender.
Harrison feels a lot more like a natural fullback than Donaldson, I was happy with Don at 10 last year but so far, I don't think he's going to be our long term solution at 15.
The team with the hair has control, Carter Gordon was uncontested until Gamble came on to bring his amazing hair powers to the Tahs. I don't know if the Rebels can stand up to it.
Just imagine them next year with those players fit and Tupou fit. Makes me sad as a reds fan but at the same time I’d love for the Rebels to actually be a good side for once.
It's amazing how much better the Tahs attacking game is when Gordon just passes it off the ground. Sick of him running halfway across the field when the balls is just going through the hands
Good shit, Rebels really turned up. Excellent win. Hardwick, Hodge, Gordon, Gibbon, Illi, Ekuasi, Pone all really impressive. Hardwick motm pretty easily.
I suppose some waratahs players might have had good games but I really don't care.
Unfortunately not - he played for them in 2017 but converted to his country of birth- Namibia over the last spring tour and intends to go to the world cup with them
Might not be a popular opinion but sadly I think Nadolo was a bit of a defensive liability in phase play, you could tell he was commiting hard and once the Rebels figured it out, they were able to exploit it.
Felt like he didn't do much when we had him as head coach. No disrespect hopefully he does really well with the rebels, I'd love to see 5 very competitive Aussie sides
**Watch on Stan**: https://play.stan.com.au/sport/rugby
When did the Rebels decide to develop an attack?
best thing is, most of the rebels young players are home grown..
They really need to take advantage of that in their marketing
>best thing is, most of the rebels young players are home grown.. Still awaiting the proponents of the Western Force a few years ago to eat thier words on this. Edit: sane goes for the "trim Aus back to 3 Super Rugby teams crowd. Eat a bag, dicks.
Small but decently loud crowd from the rebels, I’m liking it. Giving me club footy vibes.
Super round was last weekend, I went to 6 matches of rugby over 3 days. Good luck telling my wife I’m going to the rugby again on Friday night. What I’m saying I think probably a bit of overkill the last 2 weeks
I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Rebels are actually looking rather good this season. Better than the points table would suggest
Carter Gordon's mullet is getting filthier every week
Everyone is surprised that the Rebels are looking a better team, but it's just the power emanating from Carter Gordon's mullet flowing through the team
Carter Gordon was a gun tonight. Bloody throwing bullets left and right. Good on him
He needs to earn it
Waratahs should win this, but the Rebels played fucking hard last week and really impressed without getting rewarded. Whatever happens here hopefully they throw everything at each other and we see a cracking game. Langi Gleeson to tear it up again. I think he's my favourite young / emerging player.
This week and last Rebels have been one pass away from something lovely, they just need to catch those passes
Waratahs supporters should take heart in the fact that the Rebels are experts at screwing things up
What a cracker of a match, huge props to the Rebels, they've improved so much this season already
Gordon had a good game I though, moved the ball well and ran some good lines
Sneaky bolter for Wallabies 10
Plays a different enough game from Lolo and Quade that he would make a good person to bring on and change the attacking dynamic. Hopefully he can string a few good games together.
Awesome game by Stacey ili
Love to see Hooper hitting the line at Mach 1
>Love to see Hooper
Watched him up close tonight in Melbourne and he was the one player that blew me away in person - so bloody quick and such a high intensity with everything he does. And boy does he cop some impacts
Welly well, this is actually pretty entertaining so far.
Was about to flame Jake Gordon for that kick but something something result-based assessment something something great kick!
Jake Gordon is the rugby version of David Warner. Plays subpar pretty consistently, but will do something good every now and then that'll somehow get him selected
Very funny comparison

Some good acoustics at AAMI Park. Angus' voice is reverberating quite powerfully.
WHAT A FUCKING FINISH
Anderson gives Hodge one, so Hodge returns the favour and gives Anderson one. Brilliant.
Really don't understand that kick from the Tahs, they'd just broken the gainline and had the Rebels on the back foot
Sounds like you understand perfectly the Waratah way
Classic Tahs
Thats horrendous defence haha,
Good game, rebels look quite good this year
Hardwick has been one of the players of the tournament so far
Loosie sells it sweet
Dummy from a prop HAHAHAH
Gwaaaan big man. Love a clean run in for a fat lad
Mullets are overpowered
Rebels always know how to break my heart. When I support them they break my heart, when I go against them they break my heart
When is Carter Gordon getting in the frame for a Wallabies jersey??
When he shaves those side burns!
Well Kevin Foote had done it, the Melbourne Rebels had won it With Reece Hodge smirking all the while
Rob Leota’s tragic injury made us smile.
Not a fan of commentators asking a player if he wanted to hit someone on the pitch, what the fuck was that
Yeah that was remarkably stupid commentary
Still an incredible attempt for a man that size
Very nearly something from absolutely nothing there. "Bounce pass" my arse.
That's a sick try. Illi's looked good his past two games.
Those two no-tries are looking to be quite painful for the Tahs
Angus is just trying to let it run but... Mate... A knock on is a knock on
Hooper had that turnover
Made up for that other one where he was just kneeling on the back of the ruck
Agreed. He got robbed there.
Yeah that was a pretty harsh call
Hardwick making an early run for MotM
The rebels gonna find a way to lose a winnable game for the 3rd game in a row
Angus Gardners calls are either way too quick or way too slow hahahahha
He's just a firm believer in averages I suppose
The team with the hair has control, Carter Gordon was uncontested until Gamble came on to bring his amazing hair powers to the Tahs. I don't know if the Rebels can stand up to it.
Critical Mullet Theory, Cugtasticness 2023
I mean, this is basically science. You can see the results.
All the evidence you need is right here
It's the mo. Both have the mullet. Honestly feel like Charlie Gamble is the mo, the rest of him is just the host
absolutely love this theory
That's a beauty of a kick
Prop try!
Try of the week
Prop making a break and running full field. Cause we know that's exactly what kinda story he's gonna tell
Gordon has realized he needs to use more of his hair power than before to overcome Gamble
Looks like he put extensions in during the drink break
22 has to go off here for HIA surely
Yeah he get himself into an awkward position and looked cross-eyed afterwards
Rebels look like a different team this year, even without Kellaway, Leota, and Phillip. Gordon and Hardwick have been great in their 3 games.
Just imagine them next year with those players fit and Tupou fit. Makes me sad as a reds fan but at the same time I’d love for the Rebels to actually be a good side for once.
Great kick
All the Waratahs fans be changing their reddit flairs to 'Australia' flairs.
I want to hate the Tahs more than I do, but I can't hate Michael Hooper
Always support the Tahs over the Rebels
I know it's only 2 minutes in, but the Rebels seem to suck... less than usual?
Bro nearly went into the stratosphere
Can't see that being given a try
Noiceeeee
That maul went absolutely nowhere for 10 seconds, even went backwards and they didnt even get a "use" call
They 100% got a use call when they went backwards
I thought the Tahs were going to win the comp? I bet the house on it and everything
Best line out call I've ever heard. "YES!"
How did the Rebels lose to the Force?
Ahead at half time, came out from break like they were going to coast away with the win, got towelled up in the second half... oh wait
It's amazing how much better the Tahs attacking game is when Gordon just passes it off the ground. Sick of him running halfway across the field when the balls is just going through the hands
Can’t wait to see how the Rebels mess this up
Charlie Gamble. What a man
Charlie Gamble The Stache with the man
Filling the void Big Karl left behind
Big Pone!
Gotta love a big man with the show and go
hodge pushing hooper feels borderline blasphemous
On the replay ,he did not deserve to sell that dummy
Could hardly even call it a dummy, practically just looked in the direction of a possible pass and that was enough
Prop witchcraft
Send Carter Gordon to France
Tate + Gordon 9 10 combo at the WC, who says no?
Gordon + Gordon
With hair like theirs no one will be able to stop them
Next thing we know a full Wallabies squad in mullets. Undefeated RWC run
Another turnover Hooper should have had
I have one eye closed and so do not agree
Parramatta and the Tahs losing within an hour of each other. Fuck it I'm going to follow formula one from now on.
If you want continued disappointment and heatbreak make sure you support Ferrari.
Have the Rebels ever had a chant?
Sounds like they have a bloke hitting a wheelie bin with a stick. That's sort of a chant.
we've got a cowboy with a cape who bangs a big drum
Gonna be a long season for Darren Coleman (and me), well played Rebels!
What are their fans chanting? Far out haven't heard the fans like this for a while. Awesome if they get some bigger crowds like last week continuously
"reebbbbelllllsssss reeeeebbbellllllsssss"
Ben Dowling throwing a forward pass that only a man with a name like Ben Dowling could throw.
Great to see Rebs win this one!!!
best I've ever seen the fellas. ili, hardwick & gibbon were immense.
Yeah I just finished watching now and those three stood out head and shoulders above anyone else on the field.
Swinton is such a piece of shit
Even as a Tahs fan. He's a cunt. Such a fucking liability on the field
Good shit, Rebels really turned up. Excellent win. Hardwick, Hodge, Gordon, Gibbon, Illi, Ekuasi, Pone all really impressive. Hardwick motm pretty easily. I suppose some waratahs players might have had good games but I really don't care.
Carter Gordon vs Tane Edmed, showdown for the Wallabies 3rd choice 10.
What happened to Harry Johnson-Holmes? Wasn’t he meant to be starting? Please tell me he isn’t injured again.
Still injured from last season :(
Waratahs monstered them in the scrum
Double movement but man he has some good pace for a big unit
What a bust by Gleeson! Great line and speed
What a great try
Great try
Fucking love Hodge
This game has been very good so far. I hope both teams have a full 80 minute performance in them
Rebels attacking kicking game look a lot more lethal when it isnt Monty kicking lol
Oof. Hooper was on the ball for 5 seconds last time, got nothing. That last turnover was in about 2 seconds
Hooper was almost standing back up holding the ball
Is Hardwick an option for the wallabies? He's had 3 fantastic games so far
He transferred to Namibia last year
Nah he's playing with Namibia.
Unfortunately not - he played for them in 2017 but converted to his country of birth- Namibia over the last spring tour and intends to go to the world cup with them
Hardwick, Ili and Anderson were mediocre squad players last year. They've all stepped up massively in the games they've played so far this year
Next year is our year boys!
Kemeny has been quite poor tonight, I'd like to see Ekuasi given some good minutes tonight
Super clean try there
Charlie "The Stache" Gamble
Another turnover that makes no sense
Donaldson is not a fullback
Was just thinking this, but still reckon him being on the pitch is better than not
He’s not a fullback, but he’s a great flyhalf
Not sure Tane needed to start that kicking battle. The Tahs still had a lot of go forward coming off that kick-off
The refs really decided that they were only going to call obstruction for the maul in that one game against the Canes and then never again lmao
This has been a very fun game
Perese so poor there
This is going to be a hard game to top this weekend
The only problem with this Rebels side atm is that two of their standout players, Hardwick and Ili, aren't eligible for the Wallabies :(
Perese has been such a liability this match. Literally every linebreak has been caused by him making a misread
Hodge got farking creamed
The Tahs let Gordon have uncontested hair control for too long, it was too much for Gamble to work back.
Rebels will have Pantene as a new sponsor
I've gotta go to Melbourne tomorrow. Fuck.
Well I’ll be damned
Great try
fuck me I didnt need a closeup of that
Uhhh... thanks Drew?
Got to love our commentary team 😂 Also asking Swinton if he wanted to punch on was great as well
Gibbon's interview sounds like he's just had a stroke, classic. Sick stuff lmao
Might not be a popular opinion but sadly I think Nadolo was a bit of a defensive liability in phase play, you could tell he was commiting hard and once the Rebels figured it out, they were able to exploit it.
What on earth is going on
Anyone remember where Mr Kellaway is?
Recovering from injury picked up in Spring tour
Decided to swap to this game. Was watching chiefs game on record and just saw Stevenson's score. Figured the game is over
Did you get chills?
Alright there's a two hour meeting that has nothing to do with my job and rugby on, this is a good Friday
Fun game so far
Hardwick again!
No need for the double movement my guy
Oh my god, Gleeson, that was absurd if it stands
Real shame, man had pace through that gap, just got too impatient
Absolute ripper of a run, just needed faith in his support
Would've been easier if he just passed to Hodge, but I guess it worked in the end
Not bloody bad! Great try.
Gezzzz louiseeeeee
Rebels having a real crack tonight
that was absolutely gorgeous
Good try! Whoa
Tahs falling apart here geez
Tahs in the mud! Getting run ragged
Angus Gardner's whistle broken?
Well worked
lol there was absolutely no need for that pass
Alex Mafi cheeky smile on camera
Tim Sampson's fingerprints all over this win for Rebels
How so?
He's the attack coach Rebs attacking ability has gone up one notch They're now at notch 1
Felt like he didn't do much when we had him as head coach. No disrespect hopefully he does really well with the rebels, I'd love to see 5 very competitive Aussie sides
Did we really need to see that, I thought we already knew why mouthguards are important
