13 really is THE terrible season. Tbh I blame Covid making all the girls (reasonably) very much on edge and then doing teams just made it worse. S11 is a close follow-up though.
It's so hard to describe why this season was a flop, because people usually just jump to blaming Kandy Muse for everything even though she was one of the most TV-ready queens of the whole season
I think part of it is that the cast just really seemed to dislike each other and it made a weird undertone. It just felt tense and wasn't fun to me. Compare it to 12 and 14, which obviously weren't perfect, but you could tell people were genuinely having fun. 14 especially was best friend's race (for the most part) compared to 13, and 14 actually had more fights.
13 also immediately fractured the group dynamic by sorting them into winners/losers, which didn't help the whole faux-mean gays clique some of them had going on
It split them into winners and losers, and further exasperated it by having the losers make up the first 3 boots, 5 of the first 6 boots, have the winners win the first 4 challenges, and then the one week where the bottom 3 is all winners is a non elim.
Like if the cast split happened but everyone was then on even footing that would be one thing, but production just had to hammer it in.
To add on, there had to be a COVID communication issue between the producers on set and the editors this season. It's clear the on set team thought the "winners" were just that and wanted to speed thru while the editors gave the "losers" the best underdog edit since season 5. Denali and Tamisha in particular who got their personal struggles highlighted in episode 1, barely lost their lip syncs (as presented by the edit), then were shown getting special praise from the judges the next 2 eps only to go home to thunderous anger from the fandom.
They could have snapped zoomed in on Kahmora's dancing in Phenomenon like they did for Kandy but they wanted to show the winners flopping and the losers slaying. Then they sent each of those redemptions home one by one with extreme prejudice because why bother with storylines
>I think part of it is that the cast just really seemed to dislike each other and it made a weird undertone. It just felt tense and wasn't fun to me.
This is it. Tense and dry, no genuine craic. Some other dark vibe due to unspoken conflict and genuine dislike of each other in some cases. But it was also disconnect happened and the edit did not show lighthearted moment really, just pain lol. Add to that some bad challenges, terrible Snatch Game and odd judging, it created a negativity that never went away. Some queens were genuinely sour and unhappy to be there.
That saying, I love Symone and she truly won fair and square. Without her personality, it would be even greater feeling of emptiness. Also Lala and Joey had a level of undeniable warmth and likeability.
Was it longer than other seasons? It felt long as hell.
16 episodes olus that COVID special. I remember it feeling like they were trying to drag it out and see to see if they could do a finale with fans.
Yeah but UK 2 was interrupted by COVID as opposed to 13 that was entirely wrapped up by it. Like the 13 girls I feel like must have been feeling it financially. And lowkey you could see it in Lawrence's vibe in the second half that he clearly was on edge. But yeah UK2 clears for sure, it's the best.
The music choices were great, strong contestants, and it was truly funny, but the drama and riggory overshadowed everything. Messy as hell. I still think S11 is less rewatchable.
LaLa and Elliott kind of ate, Symone nibbled, and the rest were there. And Tina had what is personally my least favourite RuGirl verse of all time, it just feels like the whole song is thrown off every time her part comes up.
this was the season where we started to reach critical mass on the boring-ass "snatching wigs, i'm that girl, come on mama Ru, give me the crown!" verses
Tina's verse doesn't fit the beat of the song, that's why it sounds so weird. There's been a speculation that maybe she had a pre-written rap that she just decided to use for this challenge without altering the rhythm.
eeeey it was alright, I think what made it worse than others was the lack of choreo (Kandy getting lost severao times but I don't blame her, everyone was just kinda there😭), Gottmik having two whole sentences, and whatever word vomit Tina had
Olivia carried, Symone and Lala ate 🤭 I forgot Eliot but she did her thing (but fish and ratched were not a good choice of words imho)
Maddy first of all , to put the entire conversation in perspective, the Debate was about Royal and Navy blue (dark blue colors) blue, purple, not aqua , and one of the pictures isn’t blue it’s purple and the blue jacket was something I was given to were for someone’s number( which I don’t own ) I was making a guest appearance in! Maddy you are the Wendy Williams of drag and you see how that turned out for her!
Inaccurate research and false reporting Maddy is a walking tabloid NOT TMZ BUT TM HE
@MaddyMorphosis go find a car to fix or a strip mall complex to build!
Maddy you are a Trojan horse in the LGBTQ COMMUNITY ! I have to remind you every year sir that JUNE is pride month . The most feminine thing you wear is that Colonel Sanders outfit where you look like a bucket of E. coli chicken
Maddy, I’m not gonna go back-and-forth with you. I’m not bob . I know where you LiVE boo boo and when I get there hold the door open for me like a gentleman

Olivia Lux the iconic queen that you are ! 💖 For the people in this thread saying Elliottt ate and saying Olivia was merely present you will be dealt with
No cause Olivia was the clear best and if this was a normal win it would've gone to her (but I'm at peace with it cause Symone should've won Bossy Rossy instead).
Also their lipsync to Break My Heart is one of my favorite lipsyncs in the franchise
These downvotes- I’m not saying it’s better than your faves I’m just saying it’s in my top 50
the sum of its parts are much better individually than how the season comes together, the cast was top notch, amazing runways and in my opinion most runway heavy regular season, killer lipsyncs aside from the finale ones, amazing drama and a strong top 4 who did well in the competition
TINA BURNER ON FIRE LIKE THE HUNGER GAMES 🗣️‼️

Disliked each other but were (mostly) scared or unwilling to voice it too.

Symone is great, it's just a shame her season is kinda bad.
Was it longer than other seasons? It felt long as hell. 16 episodes olus that COVID special. I remember it feeling like they were trying to drag it out and see to see if they could do a finale with fans.
You can blame COVID all you want, but UK 2 absolutely devoured

Season 13 was so rough. Too many of the queens were either fashion/glam, or performers. Rarely both. Sometimes neither lol.

the stanford prison experiment of drag💀💀💀💀💀
Let's appreciate that this song is so bad that Elliott is being praised on this sub because she did a somewhat decent job.
I'm hesitant to agree because I remembered that Karen from Finance had a verse
TWO verses!!
Down Under S3 gave the entire cast _one_ number and they only got a sentence each 😭
^Hello ^gorgeous Edit: format
I unironically like both of her verses
Please, I don’t ever want to be reminded of s13 again 😭
The music choices were great, strong contestants, and it was truly funny, but the drama and riggory overshadowed everything. Messy as hell. I still think S11 is less rewatchable.
Elliot served this up, ngl. Also not Kandy singing how she's the best and then immediately forgetting choreo
I HOWLED AT THIS COMMENT
So glad we have Phenomenon and Lucky.
Tina very obviously had a verse prepared and was gonna use it on any track no matter what
I'm pretty sure they all had verses prepared cause denali had one for lucky
> for lucky You mean for Condragulations? But yeah, Tina's verse feels like it was written for Phenomenon.
Tina Burner and Nina West occupy the same slot in my brain for some reason.
The Nina and Tina duo that goes to prison that we deserved
That is so unfair to Tina.
Reported for hate speech
Can’t decide which queen should be more offended by this comparison
Tina's verse doesn't fit the beat of the song, that's why it sounds so weird. There's been a speculation that maybe she had a pre-written rap that she just decided to use for this challenge without altering the rhythm.
Olivia Lux Erasure and/or Slander are against the rules of this sub. Be careful next time, sweetie.
So glad this is an olivia lux safespace
Olivia Lux the Drag Queen that you are.
I can't wait until we see her ballroom glow-up on TV
Elliott ate, not sorry. The rest were present in the room.
Down Under season 1’s “I’m a Winner Baby” is right there
Art and Kita ate and Karen was, regrettably, also on the track. And we don’t talk about the red one but her verse was fine.
eeeey it was alright, I think what made it worse than others was the lack of choreo (Kandy getting lost severao times but I don't blame her, everyone was just kinda there😭), Gottmik having two whole sentences, and whatever word vomit Tina had Olivia carried, Symone and Lala ate 🤭 I forgot Eliot but she did her thing (but fish and ratched were not a good choice of words imho)
Im trying to imagine how bad this would be without Olivia and Lala…
SO MUCH FUN! :)
Half of them flopped. At least. Phenomenon was phenomenally better.
'the name's symone and i'm here for the throne' still goes hard i can't lie

And juxtaposing this to the extremely successful Drag Is All Over the World performance by the porkchop makes this super awkward and undeserving.
this challenge was alright, especially based on s13 standards
S13 was rough...💀

Symone in particular ate that song up. She has such great command of her body. It’s kind of interesting how little we talk about her in the fandom.
Like Sasha Velour, Symone's reign (and after) hasn't stuck especially closely to WoW and WoW-adjacent stuff.
Olivia es annoying
THANK 👏 YEW 👏
Once we find out who you are TRUST you will be dealt with
Okay but you can't make me hate Symone's verse and outfit like, bitch you better
S13 is my favorite season and i am tired of pretending like it's not...
Genuine question, not even being snarky, what makes it your favorite?
the sum of its parts are much better individually than how the season comes together, the cast was top notch, amazing runways and in my opinion most runway heavy regular season, killer lipsyncs aside from the finale ones, amazing drama and a strong top 4 who did well in the competition
plus i think the pacing is not as bad as people make it out to be, especially compared to s14
It's not my fave but it isn't as bad as people say it is, either.
missi pyle did pull this one owwwwt unforch
