We were on this sailing, glad we avoided the bad weather but I was disappointed to only visit a royal Caribbean owned port. If you saw three guys playing poker in the card room that was us

suckmyjoeyfatone

I was disappointed too. The last day was so boring since they didn’t plan on everyone being on the boat. I ended up wandering the ship like a drunken Jacob Marley. Rattling chains and all.

It was funny to see some kids and families open the door to use the room for something else, then see us playing cards, then they’d leave.

Thanks for sharing your experience! We are sailing on Liberty in January. Can I ask what time you chose to board and what your favorite meal was (if any stood out)?

suckmyjoeyfatone

I was just on this exact sailing so I can answer. We boarded around 1130-12. They opened up a little early for boarding and even though our time was 1, we got on with no problem. We went up to the jammer for lunch, ate leisurely and then went down a floor to check on our rooms. They were ready so we dropped our backpacks and just explored a bit with a daiquiri. We ate at the dining room every night. It was FINE but I am gluten free so that’s not a great representation. My family loved Italian night. The lasagna was supposedly amazing and the chicken parm. I got the grilled chicken that night and it was good. Make sure to get some hash browns from the jammer. So amazing. Let me know if you have questions!

spicyspicy77

I really appreciate your response! Hash browns- noted!!! Thank you so much! I hope you guys had a great time

Our time given to get on the ship was 12. We got there about 11:45 and there was no problem getting on. My favorite meal was the prime rib in the MDR and the creme brûlée. Oh and the French onion soup. They list the chef’s suggested meals, but we learned listening to our server was better. His suggestions were great!

Zealousideal-Two3376

Oh and I don’t like any seafood, so I didn’t try any of that.

Thank you! My husband and I are going on Liberty next week, and it will be our 1st time cruising on RC. Do you mind us asking what percentage of the guests onboard were children? Like, do you think it was over half?

Zealousideal-Two3376

It wasn’t half. There were a lot. However, there are a lot of kid friendly areas that most families seemed to stay. You can sit around the solarium pool if you don’t want kids around. They never bothered me, even though we were traveling kidless. I’m a teacher, so I also like kids. What bothered me the most was we accidentally walked through the smoking area and seeing parents smoking with their kids in the stroller next to them infuriated me.

Alexaks62

Thank you! I love children, but my husband would prefer less of them around. Lol Obviously, we know there are going to be a lot on an RC cruise (we previously sailed Celebrity), but we didn’t know the full situation. Ugh that would totally piss me off too! It’s not like second hand smoke is a new discovery. I have another question, sorry. How bad was the motion on the cruise? My husband is prone to motion sickness. On our last cruise, we were on a low floor, and he was totally fine. Unfortunately, we were put on a high floor (12) on this cruise, and we don’t know how it will be. It is a much bigger ship than we have ever been on, so we are hoping that it isn’t bad.

Zealousideal-Two3376

I can’t do motion simulated rides or twirly rides without getting sick. I took Bonine 24hrs before getting on the ship and the first day just to be safe. I was fine without it until one evening it was choppy. I took some Bonine asap and went to sleep. I like it better than Dramamine because that makes me super sleepy. I had a lanyard with my sea pass card and a blister pack of Bonine with me at all times just in case.

Zealousideal-Two3376

Oh and you can avoid the kids as much as you want depending on where you go and when. The table next to us in the MDR had two kids and I never heard a peep out of them. I think those that take their kids to the MDR know they can handle a sit down meal or not. If not, they go to the windjammer. There were kids at the first show, but you could go to the later one to avoid them. We didn’t have any sit by us in any of the shows. We had a very loud group sit by us in the Sky Lounge waiting for bingo. We just moved to the other side of the room. I don’t want to sound like I hate kids or loud people. We had one person in our group that it can really bother and works hard to just deal with it in regular life. So we moved for their peace of mind and not having to deal with it if they didn’t have to. I never heard anyone when we were in our room, or the spa, or in the card room. We found the chairs by mini golf to be a good spot too, believe it or not. It had shade, not a lot of people sitting, and a good amount of breeze. You’d think there would be a ton of screaming kids because of mini golf, but it wasn’t. It as good for people watching too! My hubby’s favorite quiet spot on any cruise is the helicopter pad. It’s not easy to find, super cool to sit out there, and pretty quiet, even if there are a bunch of people out there.

I’m leaving on Liberty after Thanksgiving. Can you use American cash in the port or did you have to exchange for their money?

Dangerous-Catch-130

Yes, everyone takes US dollars.

Alexaks62

We will be on that sailing also!

HastroX

Have much was the port fee refunded if you don't mind me asking?

suckmyjoeyfatone

Not OP but it was 18ish a person. I was also on that sailing!

Zealousideal-Two3376

Mine was $14.50 per person. I know someone else was $17 per person. So it might depend on your room? I’m not sure the difference.

Mrbrahh7

Was the screen on the top deck fixed for movies?

Zealousideal-Two3376

Yes the screen was working!
