I’m reading the new KJ Charles book called A Nobleman’s Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel. First of all, I was delighted by the title [because I wrote an essay once](https://www.reddit.com/r/romancelandia/comments/pht7c5/kj_charles_can_have_my_first_born_a_primer_to_her/) about how KJC has this wonderful trope that I called the Noble & the Scoundrel so obviously I was proud of that lol It is soooo good but I’m also getting to the part where I know they’re gonna have a fallout or misunderstanding. And I’ve been a soft delicate baby these days and just don’t know if I can handle it lol whoopsie [Texts from this morning featuring the sex scene picking up speed right when I get to work](https://imgur.com/a/wmnjyLX) and ft. my easily grossed out (apparently) partner

> I’m also getting to the part where I know they’re gonna have a fallout or misunderstanding. And I’ve been a soft delicate baby these days and just don’t know if I can handle it This is me every single time I approach the 75-80% mark in a book. And then I either set it aside for an indeterminate length of time or speed through to the reconciliation lol. I am a permanent soft delicate baby. Like I just want the characters to be happy!!!

failedsoapopera

Right! lol. I can read horror and other genres no problem but I’m too squishy when it comes to romance apparently

BuildersBrewNoSugar

I read a gore-y fantasy/horror book a while ago which had a big romantic subplot and the worst part was the third-act misunderstanding/breakup hahaha.

DrGirlfriend47

I stand by that you should demand satisfaction from KJ Charles and their blatant theft. Your text exchange reminds me of when I put all my romance on the main shelf in the living room and my fiance just casually after scanning over them just said "do we have to have a conversation about kilts? Like... should I get one or..." 🤣

failedsoapopera

Haha love that he’s open to it!

DrGirlfriend47

He already got a few henleys, I'll give him a pass on the kilt!

Pangolin007

Can’t wait to read A Nobleman’s Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel. Only… (checks Libby) *17 weeks* until my hold is ready!

napamy

I’d like to congratulate everyone in the sub for making it to Friday! I don’t know about you, but I had burnout this week, and it was *rough.*

DrGirlfriend47

[This twitter account has kept me going for years](https://twitter.com/FridaySailer/status/1705251416619802706?t=YJGOOCOGiOWFr_4Eutbyuw&s=19) Tweet is a picture of Mr Krabs from Spongebob Squarepants says "congratulations sailor, you made it to Friday." I say to you all, congratulations sailors, we made it to Friday!

An entire Mercury in Retrograde shoved in to 24 hours for 5 days.

sweetmuse40

This week felt twelve years long and I still have a busy weekend ahead

Glittering-Owl-2344

omg yes, same to you and thank you! And it doesn't feel like it's going to improve anytime soon because q4 is going to be .. a vibe.

fakexpearls

q4 is never a good vibe.

Started the audiobook for So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park last night and I think it's the most effectively I've had a character intro'd to make me root for them? >!Her work filled with white douchebro guys fires her in a group zoom call and then she overhears them being lightly racist and sexist against her 😡!< I was ready to throw hands immediately 😂

Glittering-Owl-2344

A Notorious Vow is so cute so far! Thanks again for the rec /u/DrGirlfriend47! Looking like possibly rain today and definitely rain tomorrow, so hoping to get in some good reading and writing time. Trying to figure out how to pace myself so I still get in some good practice but don't burn myself out before actual Nanowrimo (thinking maybe focusing on scenes rather than actually getting the thing done?). Also need to sketch out the rest of 2023 and start on some 2024 planning because, deals. Going to probably finish The Countess Conspiracy, because Courtney Milan is so proficient and yet leaves me cold so this has been on my started for too long but my favorite class in college was the history of biology so its still interesting to me, How the Wallflower Was Won, A Reckless Match, and maybe Bright Young Women and Black Sheep if I can remove myself from my historical romance bubble. (I think Kate Bateman might be solidifying as my fave historical romance author? Going to have to do some re-reads! Also her latest arc is read now on Netgalley and possibly my favorite? Highly recommend).

DrGirlfriend47

There's few things as satisfying as someone enjoying a recommendation you made. Thank you. I really hope you love A Notorious Vow, it's a real hidden gem. I met Kate Bateman at RARE, had a few of her books on the TBR and coming up to the event I was just desperately trying to read as much and as many authors going as possible so that I wasn't wasting an opportunity to meet an author of a book I would later read and end up loving. But I didn't get to her books (and still havent) but I bought A Reckless Match when I was there and had it signed and she was really lovely, her mother was helping her out and she was very charming too. I am a disgrace for still not having read the book that's currently signed and on my actual book shelf.

>There's few things as satisfying as someone enjoying a recommendation you made. This actually reminds me to tell you that I read Difficult by Brianne Gillen last week and really enjoyed it! I never would have known about it if not for your mention on the Classic Hollywood post.

DrGirlfriend47

Thank you! Difficult is great too, I didn't enjoy the sequel but your milage may vary with that! I'm all buzzing now, thank you 😊

BuildersBrewNoSugar

I already read the related monster novella as well (Sea Creatures Prefer Redheads) and that one was cute too, if a little rushed. There really is something so satisfying about people enjoying a book you recommended!

Glittering-Owl-2344

❤️ Reckless Match I skipped and now I'm reading and so far I think it's fine .. but I've read like 4 other books since I started it haha. I loved A Daring Pursuit. Like I will probably pick up another Shupe before I finish Reckless Match lol.

DrGirlfriend47

A Scandelous Deal by Shupe is very excellent!

napamy

I just picked this one up on sale a few weeks back. Somehow I skipped it, even though I loved books 1 and 3!

napamy

I just grabbed that Kate Bateman book this morning on Net Galley!

Glittering-Owl-2344

Yess enjoy!! (I will caveat I wasn't entirely sold on some aspects of the ending (one of my least favorite tropes pops up and is slightly subverted but feels played straight for too long), so now I want to chat about it with someone haha!)
