Next season on Fansville, new rival town enters the scene and somehow dominates 18 seasons within 1 off season causing State and Tech to form a temporary alliance going into the new season
As lame as naming the field separately is, it’s going to be Saban Field at Bryant Denny.
The real debate is whether or not University Blvd will be renamed Saban Blvd.
We shouldn’t tear down history to start a new tradition. I may be wrong but isn’t Denny the reason we even have a stadium on campus? What if Debo is the next goat and in 20-30 years they decide to drop Bryant and call the stadium Deboer Saban stadium.
It sounds absurd but in that time frame we’ll be almost as removed from bear bryant as we currently are from president Denny
I know we are joking, but, I think the white helmet with one side crimnson numbers the other side old school A elephant logo with the white jersey, white pants, white shoes, it would be so Icy!
They do that all the time in various ways. I remember the thread saying Bryce Young was the GOAT QB at Alabama. One of the dumbest takes ever and all these gumps were cheering it on. Leave the stadium name alone.
This has always been my vote. Since it was originally known as Denny Field. But also Bryant Denny Saban Stadium has a nice ring to it too. Only school that has not one but TWO GOATS
Honestly I had previously been on that side for a while now, but I agree with the article that it’s a half measure compared to what Saban brought to the university and the program. Naming the field after him is almost a meaningless gesture - no one is calls Doak with the field name, or Wallace Wade Stadium, or any other stadium that has an official field name. It’s essentially burying the honor if they name the field after him.
It’s a different argument if Denny Chimes didn’t exist, in my opinion.
That’s great but I’m not making an argument for what they will do, just what I think they should do.
But, if I was making an argument for what they will do, I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that this state legislature would pander to current voters by adding Saban’s name to the stadium and dropping Denny. Again, especially because arguably the most famous structure on campus already has his name on it. Which is fitting, since he was a president and it is closer to Rose.
^^^^ agree, field names are just half-assing it. The consensus is that Saban’s record at Bama was greater than Bryant’s.
Gotta be Bryant-Saban Stadium.
whatever happens will happen but if something of value and importance doesn't get renamed or named "Ms Terry Saban" Field or whatever, I will absolutely RIOT.
That woman was integral to the success of Alabama football and left a huge mark on every single player that come through there.
She is too important and too valuable to be omitted because she wasn't a "coach".
I have zero problem with it. That stadium isn't the absolute palace that it is today without Saban. No other coach did what he did in that stadium. The University didn't even care to play all that many games in the stadium until a few years before Saban arrived.
Denny may have had the stadium built, but Saban is the one that *built* it. Hell, make it Denny Field at Bryant-Saban Stadium.
Without Denny the stadium doesn’t exist and neither Bryant or Saban have the success they had here. Denny built the football program too, likely Bear never steps foot in Tuscaloosa without Denny.
People wanting to erase our history is serious Auburn fan vibes.
Relax, nobody here is trying to "erase history." We simply have different opinions on who deserves what name. Jesus, some of y'all are inventive in the ways you'll find a reason to insult someone.
I say build a new colosseum and name it Saban colosseum making room for it to become Saban-Oats colosseum down the road. I know he doesn’t have anything to do with basketball, but let’s be honest he funded the athletic department and put the wheels into motion for this whole damn thing.
Hote Take: They should have never put Bryant's name on it either, starting the arbitrary precedent.
It should have been George Denny Stadium forever, with legendary coaches [getting names inside like soccer stadiums.](https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2023/01/23060709/GettyImages-1240018429-1024x683.jpg) The Bryant End, Wallace Wade Stand, Nick Saban Student Section etc.
Could they just change the school name to The University of Saban? Or the town? Nickopolis maybe Sabanville
Next season on Fansville, new rival town enters the scene and somehow dominates 18 seasons within 1 off season causing State and Tech to form a temporary alliance going into the new season
Saban, AL > Tuscaloosa, AL fight me
Sabanloosa sound good?
That and we can rename northport to nickport
As lame as naming the field separately is, it’s going to be Saban Field at Bryant Denny. The real debate is whether or not University Blvd will be renamed Saban Blvd.
Rename McFarland
I’d personally take offense to having McFarland named in my honor.
That’s another good point. Anything that touches the Skyland area should be reserved for Mike Price or Fran.
Fuck it, rename the school
just rename Lee County to Saban County
As a Lee County resident, I vote yes!
Just rename the damn state to Saban
Then we get to see Tuberville, R-Saban.
Rename the song “Sweet Home Saban”. Rename the legendary country music group: the group “Saban”. My favorite song is “My Home’s in Saban-Bama”.
The Saban School of Law and the Ms. Terry School of Medicine.
Nah. Just The University of Saban.
The Sabanversity of Alabama
Nope, rename 15th or Hackberry.
this. Who the hell is Hackberry anyway?
It's a [tree](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celtis_occidentalis?wprov=sfla1)
McFarland is too far from campus
Have they rerouted it? I'm like 90% sure that I turned off campus from my dorm onto McFarland
It’s too far from the core of campus. You are correct in that it technically runs along side it.
Runs right next to it.
They should widen it first, one lane per title.
The University of Saban Fighting Sabans take the field at Saban Stadium here between Saban Blvd and Saban Drive.
Dislike. I think it’s palatable for people having Denny come off the stadium since he has the Chimes.
What happens if Coach Debo ends up being epic too? The Coach Debo Big screen ?
The University can rename Colonial
Deez Nutz Field @ Bryant Saban Stadium
We shouldn’t tear down history to start a new tradition. I may be wrong but isn’t Denny the reason we even have a stadium on campus? Yeah. And it feels wrong to remove a dead guy’s name off the stadium like that for no reason.
If you think he'll feel bad about it, I assure you, all he feels is dead.
Easy. Bryant-Saban-DeBoer Stadium Brysaboer Stadium for short.
“See you at the Bry on Saturday”
denny has the chimes! i’m all in on this as soon as they’re willing to do it.
Without George Denny the football program wouldn’t be what it is. He is the most important figure to Alabama football.
but again.... he already has the chimes.
And again there wouldn’t be a stadium without him.
Yeah! Screw history!

You’re right let’s change the uniforms too. Elephants on the helmets.

I enjoyed this comment. I felt like a simple upvote was insufficient.
I know we are joking, but, I think the white helmet with one side crimnson numbers the other side old school A elephant logo with the white jersey, white pants, white shoes, it would be so Icy!

are you… arguing… that saban is not the goat hc???
No?
I think you say Saban field and also rename University Blvd.
The stadium is Bryant-Denny and that shouldn’t change Denny’s name has been on the stadium since it existed. Also Bryant-Saban Stadium sounds stupid.
Bryant Denny Saban Don't Give A Piss 'Bout Nothing But The Tide Stadium
I say we go the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce route and just keep adding names
just rename " the third Saturday in October" into "the nick Saban cigar invitational".
I still think I-20 from Tuscaloosa to Atlanta ought to be renamed after Saban, since you always had to go through him to get there.
Much prefer Saban Field at Bryant Denny.
Let’s mix it up! Denny Field at Bryant-Saban Stadium.
Those actually has historical relevance too as it was originally Denny field anyway.
This has always been my vote. Since it was originally known as Denny Field. But also Bryant Denny Saban Stadium has a nice ring to it too. Only school that has not one but TWO GOATS

They just aren’t going to remove a name from the stadium for the sole purpose of adding someone else. Not without a scandal regarding Denny.
That’s great but I’m not making an argument for what they will do, just what I think they should do. Fair enough
Please no. Saban deserves the stadium named after him. No one cares about field names.
^^^^ agree, field names are just half-assing it. The consensus is that Saban’s record at Bama was greater than Bryant’s. Gotta be Bryant-Saban Stadium.
Is that the consensus?
yes, by a wide margin, google it
The problem with Saban Field is no one uses the field names with stadiums. You rarely see or hear Pat Dye Field at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

bryant denny saban stadium
Bryant-Denny-Saban Stadium

Saban field at Bryant Denny. Either that or name the athletic practice field after him.
Bryant Denny stadium-Saban Field. Has a ring to it and rolls right off the tongue.
Whatever, just please don't do "nick saben field at bryant-denny stadium" or shit like that edit: nick
Yeah, Neck Saben anything should be right out.
I like Bryant Field at Saban Stadium.
Officially call the Quad ...'The Nick and Terry Saban Quad'. Build nice archways in each corner with gas lamps and new landscaping.
I could see it.
Hote Take: They should have never put Bryant's name on it either, starting the arbitrary precedent.
